how 'bout a UCS theme: "the 7 wonders of the world"?, things like the Pyramid, Babylon, Tower of Alexandria,...
-
to be honest, i really doubt we'll get to see vader, or any other main character at all... i think they will focus on the sory of individuals, not so much on the big theme of these films. the general story will probably be the fight of indivdual rebels against the empire...

i wonder what hasbro has to say about this... sees like a violation of the contract to me...

i think you're a bit too fast, Master Yoda... there is no release date, cast,... yet to my knoledge... Usually, we have to wait 2-3 years in Belgium before a season of any american series is being broadcast. i don't think it's going to be different this time... dvd's, you say... that's probably not going to happen within the next couple of years... however, many copy these episodes through illegal channels... Lucas also indicated there could be a 6-7 disc box set with the 6 films, plus possibly a disc with extras... i wouldn't be happy with that. I already have the 4 disc box set of ep 4,5,6 it also opens a window for TLC. a lincense after 2007 might be interesting as well...

perhaps some of you know this already, but Lucas has confirmed the creation of a star wars tv series 1) one tv-series is the clone wars cartoons, which already seems to exist 2) live action based series, taking place between ep3 and ep4; 100, 1-hour, episodes; he will direct 1st season; based on spinoff character; it seems he's going to write the entire season as one story

good point... it probably has to do with visibility, once the boxes are in the shops. Sometimes, you really have to look in a shop to find them. You can arrange that with better in-shop visibility: stands, posters of the sets... And you always have internet for pics ;) Also with the newer City sets, there are no alternate models on the back. we'll ask the people of lego in billund... how 'bout that for an answer? :P
-
i think most people will be looking for fighter craft, defensive structures,... this means there will be violence ... people need action based themes... don't ask me why, i'd go for an exploration theme as well, but a majority wants to fight

What Series do you wish Lego never made

TLC can build whatever they want to, for all i care... there seems to be a market for all of these themes. they don't bother me at all. the problem is that they don't produce the things I want... -
TLC definitly need another space theme but AFTER the SW license. i'm thinking about marketing here... you need to tell your sw-customers to stick around after star wars... the best way to do that is to link your new product directly with star wars by getting them out at the same time... anyway... not our problem... i do agree with you about the space story... you also need sets that are so good that they'll be able to replace the Millenium Falcon, AT AT,... otherwise, people will always say :"i liked the AT AT more" and that would be a problem for TLC... If so, a success of the past might become a pain in the neck they also can't go back to the innocent themes of the past. many fans are trying to build armies of stormtroopers, so it might be smart to have a militairy space theme that allows fans to do just that. this time TLC wouldn't be bothered with Hasbro licences... i can see a theme like Alpha Team: two camps fighting each other, without becoming too violent, this time in space
-
-perhaps we'll see a follow up of the viking theme they're going to release this year. -the dino theme might be launched in december. that will probably last until summer 2006 -they'll continue the star wars line but it would be smart if they were to set up a sf/space-theme in september 2006 to fully replace the sw-theme in 2007 -i hope we'll get city sets next year as long as they're an addition to what's already been released... and it would be smart to link the train theme with these sets -another historic theme (greeks, roman,...) in 2007 is a possibility, especially if the viking theme doesn't stay on -perhaps another licence, like a Porche sports car line? i have a lot of questions with a space theme. i'd like that very much, but i don't know exactly what that would be: a large theme like the classic space theme, or a follow up of small themes, like blacktron I,II, ... I think the most difficult question for TLC right now is "how to replace star wars"
-
pirate of all pirates, did you just come out of your winter sleep? the community has been making a lot of noise about this theme... oh no... wait... don't tell me... you were at sea... raiding small settlements... looking for a maiden to abduct... did you find any?... :P

I,m looking for pics of these 3 promo sets: 7268,
snefroe replied to Mr.Bionicle's topic in General LEGO Discussion
before people ask for information on sets, they should probably check lugnet, peeron and brickset first. if it's not on any those three, then it doesn't exist... or it's time to ask the forum is it just an impression, or is brickset becoming a bit slow these days? if i remember this correctly, they were a bit slow with the announcement of the star wars sets... -

they don't exist according to lugnet database and peeron -
seems like a fake to me... Yoda is cheating! :P
-
i wouldn't know where to put it... it's too big... it wouldn't even go through the door... a construction book would probably be a bible thick... and it would take days to build this thing... :P

the thing is that the arc-170 doesn't seem to be an end product to me. for instance, there are gaps underneath the canopies. you can easily fill them up with four 1 x 6 tiles, without any problem at all. why didn't the designers see that... the arc is as such a nice design, it's just not finished, and you would at least expect that from TLC. it almost gives the impression that they ran out of time...

my lego career is very much the same as all the others... i got my first lego sets in 78 or 79 from my parents on my birthday. the oldest one i can remember is the police boat of 1976. the next couple of years were very important lego years. the collection of sets i had was almost complete, but at around 1984 it was all over... I still wanted lego, i just couldn't convince my parents to buy the stuff any more :P and so i lost grip on lego... i believe i bought lego until 1989. i remember the pirates, but the only thing i actually bought was Mister phes' "Buried treasure #6235". i still kept collecting the catalogues but that's it... until the star wars line of 1999. first thing i bought after my Dark Age was the snowspeeder... since then i've been able to buy quite a lot of the "Dark Age sets", thank god...

thanks apo, i don't have that set...

So basically you hate the wings. ;) if you look at the machine, all you basically see are wings, they're just not always used as wings... :P a couple of people were happy with the details of this set... I don't see details at all. all i see is a bunch of printed pieces, but that's it. it's supposed to be a recon bird. i don't see any detail (radar or whatever) that indicates that function. in fact, it's a cruise ship with only one passenger: the guy in the first cockpit. Clearly, the only thing he has to do is relax and enjoy the view, 'cause he doesn't have any computer what so ever... there are no details on the wings or the hull either. at best, there is a printed part, but no lights or anything else... the wing mechanism takes way too much space and doesn't really impress me at all... sure, it works, but did they really have to spend all those technic parts on this? It screws up the hull, the wing and the engine, which is, by the way, not particularly breathtaking either, for instance, TLC should have used this cilinder (http://www.peeron.com/inv/parts/30361px3) instead of the all black version... and because of the technic parts, you get the impression that the entire plane is a combination of a fuselage, two engines and two wings barely attached to each other at all; the real thing is just one ship... it seems to me that: 1) Tlc doesn't care about real details in this star wars line (the turbo tank doesn't have a real cocpit either,...); normally, they just use a sticker to suggest details (stickers are NOT my cup of thea, btw). 2) they're juniorising (sorry Jipay) the star wars line. Playability (the wing's mechanism,... ) has become more important than making a good, solid model, therefore there is no need for details 3) you can clearly see that TLC is using the same parts for the entire star wars line. it's as if the board told the designers: - "you have to build two birds, a tank and a walker with only these parts"... - "but dear board, we can only build wings with these parts, nothing else..." ... - "Dear designers... Get it done... or find another job..."
-
i think it's confirmed
-
it's impressive! :oo don't think it's an official piece, tho... perhaps the (or some) ambassadors were behind this. some parts are not from star wars at all, like the round tile on the anti-aircraft towers on the side of the ship... it doesn't look like TLC's work... i'm intrigued by this print: http://www.rebelscum.com/gallery/c3/LEGO/image7.asp i don't seem to recognise that. anybody?
-
so i bought and built the arc today... the good thing is the size. it's big! i also like the colors, the pilots, the computers, the canopies, the nose, the front of the engines, the droid... i hate all the rest. what a crappy machine. i don't wanna go to war with this... they're on the side of the good guys, right? no wonder they lost the war...

that is exactly why a real military theme wouldn't work. you can't "attach" a WWI or WWII theme from its historical relevance...
