Well if Lego would quit making bad decisions, he might have good news to bring us. Though this isn't all that bad. It could be quite nice, or it could be a disaster. Its already hard enough to tell the difference between new dark grey and black in the instructions, let alone having two shades of greys to deal with? And even if that is solved then we have to sort out which 1 x 1 plate the new grey and which is the old? I don't think my poor eyes can handle that strain! Maybe Lego will pack the new greys separate from the old? And I'm sure there are all kinds of other implications I haven't even considered yet. Steve i don't think that mixing the colors is a bad idea. what i meant is that TLC first decided not to mix them up, and now it seems the board told Jake to tell the community that they've changed their mind... i mix all sorts of grey in my spaceships. it gives the impression that the ship has some sort of a history...

Thoughts about Licences and TLC's future
snefroe replied to SuvieD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
because roman and other historical themes can be put in a modern context, like the viking theme. there's no "nostalgia" tag on these sets, contrary to Koldorak... -
the minifigs of KK2 are really horrible. TLC should indeed redo not only the minifigs but also the rest of the sets... if any other historic theme will go the same way as this is going, then they better drop it entirely. i don't want to see a roman theme like this... the first test, however, are the vikings... we'll wait for that one for the time being

it's one of the only things that I actually still remember ever having build :P I must have been 10 years old or so... that's basically 20 years ago... do i hear another idea for a second eurobrick event module as well, Master Yoda? Surely a city needs droids, busses, cleaning machinery,... :P
-
Do we (Eurobrick) have an IP right on those??? If yes, we cannot tolerate any infrigement to our IP!!!!!!! if Apo is the creator of these smilies, then he can make a case... however, I would mention just above the list of smilies that you only have the right to use the smilies as a member of this forum and only in the context of this forum Guys PM me if you want me to research IP rights ;) I didn't study law for nothing right??? surely, de bouwsteen will ask the members not to use the smilies in future... i'll keep an eye on their website to make sure that they post a message about this...

before i do something stupid, you are not joking, right?

here's another idea i once built a space ship/car factory, including test launch platform, transport vehicles, repair shop and of course, lots of cars and ships... so a theme could be something like this: set1: main factory plant set2: smaller plant to build cars set3: transport truck set4: set with additional cars/ships set5: test launch platform set6: repair shop set7: damaged space ship, waiting to be towed to the repair shop set8: designer's headquarters ... no violence, this time :P

i do pity Jake from time to time. he always has to be the bringer of bad news... i'm not happy with the news either, but most, i'm worried that TLC is not back on track as we've been hoping... TLC has made quite a few changes and this suggests that they're not paying off. jan Beyer said on "de bouwsteen" that in future, it's very well possible that minifigs will have to be assembled as well. today, TLC still puts the head on the torso before packaging and that seems to be too expensive, so they're thinking of not assembling them. in future you might have a head and a seperate torso in the plastic bags... i've never understood why TLC assembled these before packaging anyway... but it's also weird that TLC "warns" us about this way before the actual decision about this has been made...
-
apo, i just saw our smileys on "de bouwsteen.com" . they are exactly the same...
-
the entrance is quite expensive, tho,... the pab is in fact one of the reasons i'd like to go to windsor... there's also a lego shop in London that i'll be visiting... i'll also visit some non-lego events, obviously... :P
-
isn't it weird, from a storytelling point of view, that nothing of the robot concept (Gen. grievous, battle droids,...) lives to see the 4th film of the saga? I mean, if you watch number 4,5,6 there's nothing that reminds you of this age of robots... except c3po and r2, that is...
-
I'm thinking of going to windsor when i'm in London next month. it seems you can take a bus from London to Legoland, so it shouldn't be that far... only problem is the weather. i don't think it 'll be enjoyable if it's raining all day...

master yoda, what's the internet address of these pictures? do they have more of this stuff?

Thoughts about Licences and TLC's future
snefroe replied to SuvieD's topic in General LEGO Discussion
you've been busy, it seems... I remember koldorak very well... i used to have puzzles of him, but that was in a different time frame... TLC probably wouldn't have much problems in designing a lego version of robots... you missed "capitain flamme", tho... i really loved that as well. TLC will, however, never do anything with that... -these things are way too old -far too complex to build themes around them -not up-to-date. they look just too old, coming from a time when IBM was still part of the future, Pentium processors science fiction. :P -
Thoughts about Licences and TLC's future

about 10 years ago, every comic book writer in Europe feared this japanese wave of comics. many book shops were clearing the shelves, getting rid of tintin,... thinking the mangas would become the next hype... the wave never came... the mangas didn't sell at all, no one wanted them..; today you'll only find mangas in very specialised book shops... Manga lego sets will fail for exactly the same reason: we don't want them. we don't find them attractive because of what ever reason... i also don't think you can merge the european/danish culture of TLC with the japanese culture of the Manga. to my knoledge, the japanese/ninja theme didn't sell very well in Belgium either... let's go for the space theme, shall we? we'll need at least a base, a large spaceship, some smaller ships, a few space trucks/cars, if we want to follow TLC's tradition of the 90's However, i think TLC should try and set up a new concept. i'm thinking a space theme with 20 sets a year; based on a military component, but with the emphasis on small and large ships, tracked vehicles, not so much on handguns, cause that's probably what TLC dislikes the most... the ideal behind is exactly the same as star wars: good against evil... -

i think a Lord of the rings theme wouldn't be smart. the films have been released, the hype is over... sure, TLC would still sell sets, but they probably wouldn't get much out of it, financially. After all, the licence won't be cheap. They might just as well produce a line of their own and keep all profit. -

so it's been established then: there are pirates in space :P Mister_phes will be pleased indeed :P -
i agree with Bloody Jay. we have discussed all this before by the way... this theme will be a hit... it's attractive to little children and it has a HUGE playability factor to it. these sets are big, no small pieces what so ever,... it has everything to become a major hit for young children in fact, European children would love it too. i guess the reason why they're not releasing this in europe has probably more to do with the parents than with the children;

Mangas, you say? Master Yoda, as a Frenchman and European you should be ashamed!! I don't want that japanese stuff in here!! there's more than enough material in own European comic books!! like the space craft on this site: http://yoko.tsuno.free.fr/index.php?mod=engins&pg=1001 in fact, it's one of the big traumas of my life that i've never been able to build a lego version of the Navette. Such a beautiful ship, but the bricks simply didn't allow those smooth lines... Obviously, we're never going to see a line of lego craft like these, but they're amongst the most brilliant ships i have ever seen... however, i did see a lego ship on brickshelf that looked a lot like the "vaisseau d'akhar", a while ago... -
i think Jon posted a link with a good picture of the V wing a while ago... can't find it anymore...

things are so quite here at the forum that i decided to post this nosejob of the ARC, that I discussed with Master Yoda, when he posted his first photos of the ARC. Besides, it will bring this thread back to topic, so at least Jon will be a very happy man :P

how 'bout a UCS theme: "the 7 wonders of the world"?, things like the Pyramid, Babylon, Tower of Alexandria,... Have it in several series: series 1: "the 7 wonders of the world" series 2: "wonders of the 19/20th century" I would definitly go for that ;) allright, why don't we give TLC's CEO a phonecall and arrange this? :P :P :P

i got it from movieweb.com but they probably took it from theforce.net... not sure how reliable this all is, but i have no reason to be suspicious about the authenticity...
