  1. Not all, only the one that deserve our wrath :-D ;) Lord Vader, i bet you've assigned master Yoda to a mini tie fighter (http://guide.lugnet.com/set/3219) to fit his size, didn't you? :P :P
  2. it is for real.. i just came across this set when browsing the German catalogue of 2000; it was part of the Belville line
  3. admins., shouldn't you guys write this new release date of the DSII on your "news" section? i also don't know if this has anything to do with a so called success of the current sw line. most of the sets aren't even available in parts of the country, so how could it be a success, i wonder? if your distribution sucks, than don't expect to see great sales...
  4. i guess it's only natural that every new generation more or less dislikes the work of the generation before her, just as the future generation won't like the tastes/works of the current generation. it's exactly the same with music, for instance... That's probably one of the reasons why so many customers loose interest in lego when a new generation arrives ... only a few will come back (and very often have a Dark Age, first): Afols... Juniorisation depends on the perspective of the individual fan. but as i said, we will most likely hate <insert that tiresome argument> pieces of sets of the new generation (late 90s - current), but love juniorisation of the sets of our own generation (80s - mid 90s). for instance, i love that big explorien starship (#6982) of 1996, i hate the UFO pieces... a UFO set was build in just a few minutes, with only a dozen or so pieces... i wouldn't be surprised if many Afols were to say "juniorisation really started in the mid - late 90s..." first, what is juniorisation? how many pieces in a set do you have to have before you can actually call it "<insert that tiresome argument>"? i also don't think that juniorisation is, as such, a bad thing. your set in this thread, for instance, looks great, even tho some pieces are large. that doesn't degrade the grace of the set... This set is focused on playability, which is even more stimulated by these large parts. this mast, for instance, will not fall apart, the prison door will always work properly,... the word "juniorisation" is problematic in the sense that's only been around for a couple of years. people of the generation before me (basically before the minifig - era) never talked about <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, but most likely thought of minifigs as "<insert that tiresome argument>". i think "juniorisation" doesn't exist, honestly... we, lego fans just grow older... in reality, it's just lego evolving, adapting to new fans,... it's in fact, exactly like pop music... i hated the pop music of the generation before mine, like (you british, look the other way for a second :P ) kinks, beatles, "mersey beat type of bands"; i loved my own generation's bands like Police and duran duran, hated the pop music of the next generation, like all that R&B crap and Rappers... thought that was for teenagers, too simple, "too <insert that tiresome argument>"...
  5. welcome apo :P (wonder what apo has to say about this...) on this forum you will find that: most of us write useless messages on a daily basis, don't worry about it... worst thing that can happen is Jon getting upset, Apo nuts, jipay insane and the others... well... don't worry about the others... and Lord Vader, you say? well... he's still trying to gather his crushed tie fleet after a fight with the imfamous rebel sarq, Vader's defeat just hasn't sunk in yet... :P :P Master Yoda, also involved in this battle, had to crash land on a jungle planet... :P most of us go off topic at one point in their life... don't worry about that either... reread the lines above... anyway, now that's been said,... i still have the DSII for september 30th on S&H...
  6. Right now, for parts of Flanders i live in, it's more a question of what sets are available than what price they have. this list is also far from complete and only based on what I know Antwerp city: Bart smith: they have shops all over the country, very often rather limited in number of different sets. it depends on how large the shop is. Prices are normally TLC's, or close to what TLC is asking, they do have a stand with small sets at lower prices... Blokker : is not a regular toy shop but a shop for all sorts of goods. they do have lego and have sales from time to time. if you're lucky, you will find good deals there, especially if they have to clear off shelves for new products 't kruitvat: again, not a regular toy shop, but you can have good deals there from time to time. they very often only have a small number of sets, like duplo, x-pods, basic theme sets, tubs... Deurne: (just outside the city of Antwerp, on the road to the largest Shopping center in Belgium, called Wijnegem shopping center) Ultima second hand toy shop: they used to have lots of "old" and "new" second hand sets, today they're range of lego products is fairly limited, sometimes, you'll find rare sets there. not so long ago they had three or four futuristic space trains, and star wars from time to time Speelgoed 2000: a few houses away from the former shop: a classic toy shop, not a part of a chain. all sorts of new sets of old and new themes. they used to have a lot of old sets, but i basically bought all of those :P :P now they more or less only have some old lego technic sets and the new stuff. prices are TLC's... Wijnegem Shopping center: apart from Blokker, Bart smith, 't Kruitvat, there also is "Intertoys" Makro: they used to have a lot of lego, at lower prices than TLC's, but it's limited these days. Makro is a wholesaler, you can't get in without a member card There is a classic toy shop further down the road in Wijnegem center: they have the regular lines, but left overs are possible... I recommend: FUN: really large toy shop, with pab boxes from time to time: you can find addresses here: http://www.fun.be/ + select "winkels" DREAMLAND: also very large , with pab from time to time: you can find addresses here: http://www.dreamland.be/nl.html + select "info" than "winkels" to my knoledge, they are the only ones to have the current star wars line, prices are normally TLC's or close to TLC's...
  7. surely you can get decals of model building sets... I'm a bit surprised by the position of TLC. the first picture of this thread clearly states: "this work is sponsored by Lego". You don't need to have a lego set to explain to children what happened there. I saw a large model of a camp in australia once, and that's was daunting... and the children who were there also, we're just as shocked as i was... they really got the impression of what happened... no lego bricks involved... You don't have to "protect" people for the things that happened there by using "soft" materials like lego... i feel that the lego model is not a good instrument to show the extremity of what really happened. the skeletons, for instance, almost give a humoristic view of the victims. for instance, many of the victims of the camps were being kept alive, to work,... Skeletons on the other hand, are dead... that's a big difference...
  8. orlego, what's the price of these things is it an (american) exclusive? i can't seem to find them on lego.com/shop in belgium
  9. first, i love this forum. it's fun to talk about lego from a european view. As jipay once said, on this forum, we use the word "football" instead of "soccer". Great fun! :P i guess it's not so easy to find a right balance between going off topic and discipline. and it's probably even more difficult to regulate that balance... however, i do want you, the administrators, to post more, because, Eurobricks doesn't have enough active members. we may have 300+ members, but how many actually do post interesting messages on almost daily basis? very often, topics go "off topic" because we don't have anything more to say about the topic, or we just keep on repeating ourselves... However, sometimes there's still a discussion going on... It's no longer about the original topic, but about other lego subjects... The sandcrawler topic is a good example... In a way, you should be able to change the title of the topic... In any case, we need more/new blood... i've seen another, more annoying trend, especially in the last few weeks. the lego section has seen an inflation of topics about more or less the same subjects. sometimes i would have to write exactly the same reply on different topics because the post is relevant to all topics... (in the end I don't do it, 'cause I'm too lazy...) i think we should keep the forums and topics limited and very much different from each other... we don't need a topic on future themes, another one on future licences, a third one on "what would you like to see in the future", a fourth "what do you think we'll see"... fewer topics, and more flexibility in content, i say... I'm also a bit tired to see all these polls. they are relevant, they are interesting, but why not create a different forum called "polls", after all, we also have a forum "buy, sell, trade and finds"? it would keep the polls out of the regular forums... And you could restrict it to only voting and at best a few lines of comment, but no regular posting...
  10. i don't think it's custom version, Master Yoda... TLC will not spend quite a lot of money on painting the red wing of the craft. to my knoledge, that only comes in yellow... for now, that is... the rest of the wing is weird also. the rest should be dark gray, and it looks light gray, white, red to me... might i also focus your attention to the background? isn't that this venator? wonder if this is more than just a model build by afols...
  11. i think Precious jazz has given the key to solve the question. compare the red of the ARC (which is dark red) with the starfighter red. clearly a major difference. the first photo is not particularly blurry, but it's at least too dark in the room and the light sucks...
  12. could be about the fight of the rebel pilots on a small moon, desperately trying to keep the empire of their back...
  13. what's the story of this dark gray and bluish dark gray... they both seem to be in production and i don't understand why they're not shutting down either one of them...
  14. there are pics of the pab at windsor on brickshelf. that looked as if it is exactly the same as in Billund... and that one is excellent... *wacko*
  15. still not convinced :P
  16. you do know that we're talking about some individual members who are using your smilies, not the website, right? if you don't put a copyright on your own smilies, how would anybody know that they can't just copy any, without mentioning you... Even eurobrick members don't even know these smilies are your property, apo, no wonder people don't mention any one... WRITE A COPYRIGHT ON YOUR LIST
  17. and may add: a couple of grave robbers? that's quite innocent
  18. 14th century *wacko* *wacko* *wacko* no wonder you frenchman voted for De Gaule as greatest frenchman ever!! try 10th :P :P anyway, not important, the thing is that people look at these sets with modern eyes, for TLC, religion will never be the main element of the theme, but people might look at a theme in that way, not as a conflict for domination, but a conflict between different lifestyles, religions... do you think that TLC will go for a Roman theater, where people fight each other, and all sorts of animals? tLC would be crucified!
  19. exactly, BUT: to link this topic with the other about the roman theme, romans fighting persians is asking for problems in a world that's in serious religious problems... (romans: christians - persians: moslims) I'm not saying that persians are moslims and roman by definition christians, but it is asking for trouble on other hand, TLC can't repeat these dragons and dinos over and over...
  20. there are also really negative aspects to licences: -you're more or less stuck to designs of others and they most likely will not consult you on their work; you just have to hope for the best -you might not even have many set posibilities to fill an entire theme or it might be very difficult to create good sets, based on a scene in a film (i've always had this problem with spiderman: the theme sets lack cohesion, the theme in general lacks substance, as if TLC basically selected just a few scenes to work from, therefore the story itself more or less fades away; this is not the case with star wars, that not only gave us "scene sets", but also model sets, like the snowspeeder, falcon,...) -you're also dependent upon the policies of other companies, in this case, not only George Lucas, but also hasbro,... TLC cannot release any set they like, a set of minifigs for instance, isn't possible, even though highly profitable... -you're also stuck on release dates of films/dvd's... so you can't release ep3 sets whenever you want to; you have to accept what it is been offered... very bad aspect!!!!!!!!! -there's also tough competition: hasbro, for instance, also releases AT-AT's, gunships,... in any case, you have to hope that people will like Lego more than other toys... that's quite a challenge... if you're producing sets of your own, you're in full control, no one may copy your work -it's probably expensive. you have to have a real good year to do very well financially -it's also not very good for your own image and self confidence: you're giving the message that your own company is not able to produce the things people want; you're not able to produce excellent stuff of your own... in the end, Lego being a creative toy, would become a joke, after all, by using licences, you'd be telling the world that you're not creative anymore, you need the fantasy of another company to build your own sets.. Not a good message at all
  21. yeah... whatever is replacing sw, it has got to be very very very good
  22. you can always build these ships yourself ... you don't need TLC for that :P
  23. that was my original point, will TLC be able to pull this one off, considering the Hasbro licence. i wouldn't be surprised to see a law suit going to TLC's door step in the next few weeks... these minifigs are regarded as minifigs, magnets or not... if you want these sets to build an army, make sure to order them now
  24. wow! you're really making a case out of this one, aren't you? :P i think that in the case of licences, TLC is trying to get goods that are well known, worldwide ... I think they're looking for goods that don't need more marketing, things like star wars, harry potter... Sorry, great ships or potential sets are only second place
