  1. Yeeey it started!!! And dammit, I am on holiday for 3 days... So I am building a 50 gun frigate. Will that be allowed as free or do I already have to pay for it?
  2. Yeeey, created 2 more flags (3 to be honest, but the 3rd one is for when Bobs officialy launches :D ) The Eslandolian city of Stedor Stedor Eslandola by Maxim, on Flickr The Stedor - Oleon Trading Organisation Stedor SOTO by Maxim, on Flickr
  3. Well, I assembled my troops already and made a backstory for my sigfig(s) :) For Eslandola!!! The City of Stedor Stedor @ Bricktricks 2015 by Maxim, on Flickr Already in medieval times, Stedor (back then known as Mpya Stedor) was a busy trade hub with merchants from all-over the world. Now, a few ages later, Stedor still is a rich and flourishing trade city, unbound to any nation. Due some recent changes in the Global politics, with the rise of Corrington and Oleon, time has come to pledge alledgiance to the glorious Kingdom of Eslandola, famous for its merchants! As a young governor, it is his duty to take care of the glorious trading city and to make sure he will earn his place in history books. Although Stedor has always been it's own City-State, Maximilian choosed to pledge Alledgiance to Eslandola as he saw the new opportunities it could bring to his city. As said before, I have more redcoats and bluecoats then greencoats, still I choose Eslandola :)
  4. Come on !!! Me wants BoBs starting, Aye?!!!! :D
  5. Oh, don't worry about that :p In Belgium, a "BOB" is someone who doesn't drink alcohol because he drives the car :D I am pretty in Pirate times, that would have sound silly :p Where is my bottle of rum?
  6. Indeed :) and don't go easy by choosing a faction because you have most soldiers of that colour. I have around 60 redcoats, 30 blue coats and 5 pure green coats. Still I will choose Eslandola (green) as it's sounds the most interesting for me. By using for example Robin Hood torso's, leprauchan torso's, ... I can make up to more then 30 green coats :D I should post a picture soon of my already assembled army :D
  7. Very nice Titus!! Looking forward to see it Friday!!
  8. Agree! It is very time consuming for a single person. The HSS is very simple and a very nice guide :)
  9. Yup indeed my first time :) Well, I don't really know what happens when that weekend so I'll see what the moment brings :) I haven't signed up for workshops etc so I have a lot of freetime (and to please my girlfriend, so we can enjoy the accomodation there) :) Maybe we can meet just before the saturday night activity?
  10. Excellent idea Just tell me (pm or so) what builds you can take with you :) That's for Sieger to tell where he is going to put the table for your displays. So maybe it's not a bad idea to ask him to put your tables as close together as possible
  11. I'll be in charge with setting up the (GOH)-Castle-Lay-out at Brickmania Antwerp (14&15 November, Antwerp Belgium). yeeeeeeey!!!! Are you gonna sleep in your car, at my couch or in a hostel? Got some GOH-builds you can take to BMA? Rolli!!! Are you coming to Antwerp? As others already said, 14&15 November It would be great if you want to participate! Me too!!! I am taking a part of Stedor with me You want to participate in Antwerp? you can always sleep at my place
  12. A 'Diary of king X' may be the solution for this. I would suggest that every faction chooses a writer who describes every action in a (pinned) faction topic. For example. Factionmember Johny makes a Moc about his ship trading with islanders. The appointed writer of that faction writes in the "Diary of King X" in one sentence that Johny traded with islanders (with a link to the action). Newbies will be able to read the Diary so they are easily updated what happened. Another advantage is for people like me who are sometimes not able to be active for a small period and after that small period they lack the courage to go through tons of MoC's so they know what happened in their absence (I am refering to GoH, where I am absolutely lost again between all those new stories for the 5th time in my GoH-carreer). If you guys are cheering for this idea, I would suggest to work this time with a real timeline and say for example that every week in real life is a month in BoBS (so times goes 4.5x faster)
  13. We can make it complex with a tutorial system for newcomers so they learn the system fairly quickly. We also can say they have to complete the tutorial before they are allowed to take part in the challenges. They learn how the system works and by building smaller mocs for the tutorial, they can improve quickly their skills. The tutorial can be seen as "how to become a captain for faction x" and the tutorial challenges can be stuff like: 1: design your captain and present him before the leader 2: build his hide out 3: make him do some action (capture a neutral ship, something diplomatic, do some fishing, ...) 4: some stuff based on the game mechanisme By completing the tutorial, the newcomer showed his alledgiance to his teammate
  14. Well my parents divorced when I was 6 and I played with playmobil when I stayed by my father and Lego when I stayed at my moms house. Both are really great toys! But Leg wins for me as you can make anything you want :) I have a pm ship (1997 i guess) and when I compare it to the other ships pm ever released, there hasn't changed so much IMO while there is a greater variety in Lego models :)
  15. Qar for sure :)
  16. Hey, I already dipsed the Gothenburg :D I already have tons of pictures and plans :) Only problem here is I just started a company so my budget and time for the rest of the year are very low.:(
  17. Medieval times were very colourfull so it would not surprise me if there were yellow houses back then :)
  18. Well, a shopmanager told me TLG stopped producing blue baseplates. So it would surprise me if they start producing bases with hight differences.. Now I think about it the last of those special bases I saw in a set was alteady a few years ago (but I can be wrong ofcourse)
  19. I do want to point out it were us AFOL's who had to come up with the name of the ship... But I do agree I miss advertising... Putting the two lines next to eachother. I can't find that many similarities... Really every set is completely different... (Except for the ships)
  20. Indeed :) You can for example build a rake of an unnamed empire spying in your city/ship and your soldiers catching him :) Or like earlier said, you can recreate a famous battle fought 100 years ago (but still in our imaginary world)
  21. Well, you have one main character, your siggy. But that doesn't mean you don't have other important characters in your stories. For example, my main character will be the governor of a city, my second character will be the captain of a ship, my third character will be a privateer, ... . So some of my MOC's will be my main seeing people in my city or negotatiating, other MOC's will be about the captain on the sea or the privateer plundering or ... Let's say it this way: the main character is responsible for all your other characters and is the connection between your stories and the faction you choose.
  22. And the possibility to talk to the designer of the sets!!!
  23. My local Legodealer confirms that pirates are not selling so great... I hope to change that this weekend at Brickmania Wetteren where I will expose a mini Pirate Lay-out in front of his stand :D
  24. I will be present with my medieval city in a pirate tenue!
  25. Please let the first task be: Settle a trade route between cities of the same empire or between cities belonging to a different empire. Even pirates have to sell their stuff somewhere :D
