  1. There is no real information about the zig zag steps so it can probably not be replicated.
  2. That looks like a separate module. It uses a different motor. It would be a good way to bridge the difference in height though.
  3. I have the V-8. It is a fantastic piece of engineering. I have never done any maintenance on it. I only use it for demonstration and have not tried to actually power anything with it. I am sure it is capable of producing far more power than the strength of the output axle on the crankshaft.
  4. That one had been discussed a bit already and in fact you will already find a render of it in the first post.
  5. If you are new to Technic and new to modification, I'd recommend building the whole thing stock and making sure you know how it works before you try to change anything. Without a thorough understanding of the model's functionality and/or lots of experience, you are as likely to break it as improve it. I would actually build several models first to get experience from multiple designers before starting to change things.
  6. Thanks. I've updated the first post to include the other 2 Archimedes screws and the other modules that are being worked.
  7. I have no objection to updating any of the instructions to the latest version if someone is willing to do the LDraw work on the updates. I am hopeful that Akiyuki's new blog will show the updates to some of the older modules when he gets to writing about them. I have not made much progress on the last two modules because I've been working other projects the last couple of weeks. Yes, I can do that. I didn't intend to list older versions of modules separately, but Akiyuki presents all 3 Archimedes screws at the same time, so they can all be considered distinct modules. I didn't download this file earlier and it doesn't seem to be there any more. Can you post it again?
  8. I think your analysis is reasonable. The weight of the package is a good indicator of how much "stuff" you are buying from LEGO. Yes, much of the weight of 42056 is the manual, but that is certainly part of the stuff you are buying, and there is no doubt that they put a lot of work into it. Many of the users of this forum would seem to prefer to buy ONLY the parts and skip the rest, and this is probably not surprising of adult fans.
  9. I just downloaded the new "Ultimate app" from the Technic web page. Instructions say to download and print the postcard from lego.com/technic to use it, but I can't find any such postcard. Anyone know where it is?
  10. Box dimensions for what? This topic is for all the new 2016 sets. The Porsche box is the same perimeter as the 41999 but thicker.
  11. If you download the Brickstore parts list for any of the modules, it includes a list of the average Bricklink prices.
  12. Hmm, you are right it does appear to be a smooth connector in the instructions. If that works for you, then by all means use it.
  13. 8416 is a fantastic model. Best forklift in the Technic series. Highly recommended.
  14. The 6.5L shocks come in three different variations with different springs. The yellow are the hardest springs and will not work in the elevator module. They are much too stiff. The gray shocks use a softer spring. No, it needs to be the ribbed type as shown in the instructions. A smooth type will not work. Because the shift mechanism is oriented vertically, a smooth type would not hold the driving ring up.
  15. This should be all set by the gearing. The spiral lift is geared to transmit only one ball per cycle. Not sure why you are seeing multiples, but it looks like there is hangup just as the ball exits the lift and gets to the ramp. Sometimes a ball waits here, and sometimes it does not. You might have to make some small adjustments to that area.
  16. Nor is everything in the HoF sitting on Blakbird's shelf. There is a pretty strong correlation though.
  17. The models are certainly worthy, but having the builder be a EB member is a basic requirement. The purpose of the Hall of Fame is to show the best of Eurobricks.
  18. Wow, that is an incredibly impressive tribute. You even managed to make it more functional than the original. Very well done indeed.
  19. Was the PatDan joint invented by Patpong ladies?
  20. I've installed several of these mods now and am quite happy with them. First, of course, was my own step 5 mod and then Crowkillers' gear order mod. Then I did the mods for Jetro's removable body. The next thing I did is supertechnicman's fix for the continuous gear shifting. Very elegant and simple. I reversed the direction of the changeover catches in the shift module as recommended by Attika and it does indeed make the 90 degree stop points almost perfect. Finally, I installed the HOG mod of Didumos69. This slips right into the space under the dash and is quite inconspicuous. However, I did have to make one alteration. A 3x3 T-shaped liftarm is required as shown or there is nothing to prevent the steering rack from slipping forward. After that, it really works well.
  21. There are some better generic GBC topics for this since it is not related to Akiyuki. The short answer is yes, you can use cheap aftermarket transformers. I got 10 of them for $25.
  22. The Hall of Fame is not really a voting system, so no one can vote at that link. However, members may always feel free to make their opinions known.
  23. I see your point, but I don't think it is fair to put the Porsche quite so far to the right. It may not have all the functions we might have wanted, but it does have a lot of functions. Compare this to the 8145 Ferrari which has almost no functions at all. On the other spectrum, sets 853 and 858 were pure function at the left of your scale. I'd like to see more machinery with pure function. I think the 8094 Control Center is a great example. I miss sets like this.
