  1. For reference, look at how the TLG lawyers handle something that even looks like the LEGO logo. http://www.holly-wood.it/miscellaneous/lego_v_hollywood-en.html
  2. Absolutely stunning! How did you transport it? How long did it take to set up? What did you use for cable? Looks like some pretty thick stuff. How do you keep it tensioned?
  3. It will certainly carry the air pressure, but with such huge wall thickness it will be quite difficult to bend.
  4. I probably have about a million parts. I don't know about weight, but it certainly isn't worth anywhere near $1M even if you look at the collectible value of every set. As bulk it would be worth much less. Certainly does make me curious though. I'd love to see a real picture of what this bulk lot looks like.
  5. I have never seen a misaligned version of this particular part, although to be fair I'm not sure I would notice in a normal application. However, I have seen misaligned axle holes occasionally in other parts, and it can be really annoying sometimes. In some applications it doesn't matter, but in other applications it is critical. I noticed this most when building Akiyuki GBC modules in which things had to align just right.
  6. How many tanks have you done now? You have certainly become a master of the craft. I like how you have branched into some really unusual designs that use more than just the generic skid steer and turret rotation features.
  7. The pin with pin hole is harder to fit because of the type of plastic. Most pins and axles are made from a softer plastic making them more deformable and easier to fit. Structural parts like liftarms are made from a much more rigid polymer. Since this particular part serves both functions, they needed to use the stronger, harder plastic. So it is not just you, it legitimately requires much more force to fit this part in a hole.
  8. The code doesn't give you anything special, just some pictures. If someone has already redeemed your code, someone here can just give you a copy of the pictures.
  9. I made that picture for the cover, and honestly I can't remember where I got the file. It is pretty unusual to use those top shifting plates, but this is not the transmission from 8448 or 8466. Inspiration and duplication are not the same things, and for me intent matters. For example, it really pisses me off when someone takes one of my renders, removes my watermark, and then re-posts it. That person is intentionally hiding the fact that it was my work. Of course, someone selling copies of instructions on eBay that I created is also a problem. But I think ideas should be freely shared. It is impossible to credit everyone who inspired you, but I think everyone appreciates it when someone at least tries. For example, my Bricksafe folder is filled with renders I've made of people's MOCs. These are never my own MOCs, and I am always careful to list the original builder and even link to them if I can.
  10. It was a pain in the ass, but I manually fixed all the old pictures. That sounds simple, but the new software makes it hard. You can't edit BBcode any more and you can't change the old picture locations. I had to manually re-insert each picture.
  11. As I am packing to move to my new house, I am forced to take stock of my current collection and conclude that it is ridiculous. I've disassembled a number of old Technic sets and a few Technic MOCs, but in particular I went overboard on building Akiyuki GBC modules. I've chosen a few of them to get rid of, but rather than just part them out I thought I would offer them up to see if anyone is interested. I could take them apart and ship them or, if someone is close, they might even want the custom display cases I built! Here is a list of those that will need to go. If anyone is interested in making me an offer, please contact me by PM. Elevator Lift Triggered by a Stuck Ball Zig-zag Lift Catch and Release I had already previously parted out two others, but if anyone wants them I probably still have the parts. 12. Well, Technicopedia shows every Technic set ever made, so that would be a good place to start!
  13. For an advanced builder it is useless, but for a beginner it eliminates the possibility of installing the gear backwards and making the model non-functional. This is a big deal for younger builders since fixing it later can be very difficult.
  14. Many modules are tolerant to slight differences in weight and dimension using aftermarket balls, but the ball factory is not one of them. It works best with original LEGO balls.
  15. Several LEGO motorcycles have larger rear tires including 8417, 8420, and 8857.
  16. If you want to run the ball factory, you are going to want about 50 balls. For the smaller modules, 20 is enough.
  17. The majority of Akiyuki's modules use an M motor, so if you have one of those you'll be able to do a lot of different things.
  18. Wow, great job! I couldn't agree more. Even with 100+ MOCs sitting on my shelf, this remains one of my favorite. Building it from just an LDraw file that was not stepped was a real chore, and this will make it a lot easier. I am interested to see what changes you have made to the file. By the way, this model is perfectly scaled for Technic figures, so make sure to put some in there when you build it!
  19. Right, when you line them up it is clear that 8420 is the largest scale of the modern, studless models.
  20. Yeah, the people who worked on that were awesome.
  21. You are absolutely right, this was an error. You are right on both counts. I have made the changes to the instructions and the parts lists of both models and will upload them later tonight.
  22. This is the second giant quote you have posted just to ask for an LXF file. Please don't do it again.
  23. If the module is running correctly, you can use any motor. I run mine on an M motor with no trouble. There is no need for an extension unless you want the battery box to be far from the module for some reason. Note that the XL runs much slower than the other motors, so if you use that one you may need to adjust the gearing.
  24. You can't really use part count to compare old and new sets. 857 is by far the biggest motorcycle in terms of overall volume even though it does not have the most parts.
  25. Part of the rollover problem is not just the high CG, but the lack of damping in the suspension. Large magnitude oscillations make tipping much more likely. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone use the Technic dampers for suspension, but it would be an interesting project.
