Kaliphlin at Work - Day 3: Spice Merchant
soccerkid6 replied to LittleJohn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Besides using way too many of our brown buckets, it's a lovely scene Those combined with the bags of different herbs and spices gives a wonderful effect, and the printed cloth element below sets them off well. Bustling market places are something I imagine Kaliphlin to have many of, so it's great seeing that illustrated here- 20 replies

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 2: Qarkyr Box Gardens
soccerkid6 replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great composition with the low wall and arches in the foreground. Excellent choice to use nougat for the garden boxes instead of reddish brown or dark brown Plenty of neat plants to admire in the gardens, and I'm glad our cobblestone design was helpful. The added cheese slopes are a nice touch. I hadn't even thought about how useful the free floating design would be for when you need to make streets adjacent to angled buildings -
Wonderfully vibrant colors The flower boxes and awnings add a lot to the build, and the floor tiling in two shades of blue looks lovely After seeing all of your Mesozoic builds, John and I are going to have to get the Dinotopia book(s?) at some point

This scene is my second entry into the Colossal Castle Contest XVI, for the Fantasy Siege Weapon category. I took inspiration for the landscape from the style of detailed model bases you often see for things like Lord of the Rings scenes. Mitgardian dwarves are masters of warfare, and their powerful ballistas are feared by all enemies. See more pictures on Brickbuilt. Once I figured out the ballistas, this scene came together quite quickly, and it was fun doing a larger landscape again. C&C welcome

You got the hang of that base style quickly! Beautiful mix of colors, and those trees are something I'll have to start using myself Very good start to your mill builds

Index updated again And @Gunman earned two new titles: Shadow Rider and Manager -
Great way to show off Equos Valley, the build gives a very clear impression of the landscape and village setups I like your rockwork, though having all the cliffs plateau at just about exactly the same height doesn't look very natural. Working in some portions that are a couple bricks higher or lower would probably look better. Excellent micro buildings inside the palisade, it's good to see you including a well

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 1: Mophet - Juz'albieta farm
soccerkid6 replied to adde51's topic in Guilds of Historica
Love the little awning atop the building, and you made good use of those reddish brown lattices for the railing I like your choice to go with an irregular base, but think an overall more organic shape would likely give a better look than the rather rectangular setup with occasional jut outs. Nifty aqueduct design, and the wooden gate set off to the side for closing off the water supply when needed is a great touch -
Kaliphlin at Work - Day 5: Daily Tasks
soccerkid6 replied to LittleJohn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Always a pleasure seeing Nym's story developed, and it's good to know he found a place for his skills in Kaliphlin Lovely courtyard tiling and the small window visible under the arch on the left is a lovely inclusion- 14 replies

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 4: Mophet - stable
soccerkid6 replied to adde51's topic in Guilds of Historica
Always fun seeing more Kaliphlin builds incorporating nougat and dark orange The street is excellent , and I like the little spots of olive moss and grass here and there. Excellent layout for the stables, and those stripes still look great -
Avalonia wasn't the same without you, so I'm glad the Swedish LEGO Mafia got you back into the guilds Terrific vegetation as always, plenty of variety yet everything works together well. The cottage itself is gorgeous and is exactly the sort of thing I would imagine seeing plenty of in Avalonia Excellent story as well, it's good to read more about Sir Darby

@MaasEffekt Like Basilicus said, Varlyrio is probably seeing the least activity as of right now. Kaliphlin has the lowest score, but their Kaliphlin at Work project should help their standing considerably. Usually any of the guilds that aren't Avalonia have a somewhat smaller active member base. So check out Mitgardia

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 6: Ha'ri the potter
soccerkid6 replied to adde51's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great color choice for the pots - I hadn't even realized those came in dark orange The open chest with additional pots piled inside is a nice touch You've adapted very quickly to the Kaliphlin building style- 14 replies

This is my first entry into the Colossal Castle Contest XVI. If you haven't already seen it, you should really check it out. It runs through the end of December, and this model of mine is one of the prizes: The castle room interior category caught my eye this year, so I started off with that. After looking up some medieval kitchens I decided on including a series of stone arches connected by wooden rafters. The loosely connected floor tiles were inspired by Cesbrick, while Matthew Oh’s build gave me the idea of forced perspective stairs. I tried to pack in plenty of kitchen details, so be sure to check out all the images. Like most castles, Harburg has a large kitchen to produce the substantial amount of food required for the staff and castle inhabitants. Eryl and his mother, Lady Karin, visit the kitchen today to check on the preparations of a feast for some visiting dignitaries from throughout Mitgardia. While Karin is shown about by head cook Svein, Eryl takes a turn cranking the spit of meat over the fire and chats with one of the young kitchen apprentices who is about his own age. The warmth and cheerful bustle of the kitchen makes it one of Eryl’s favorite rooms in the castle. Additional pictures can be seen on Brickbuilt. Comments and criticism welcome

Thanks! I finished the scene, and hopefully will be posting it here before too long. Hehe, John and I got that and dark brown over the last couple LUG Bulk orders, and it's great to put it to use in some big landscapes Excellent! Really looking forward to seeing it And here's another freebuild: -
The Isle of Druidham [Avalonia Task III]
soccerkid6 replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
Another top notch micro Good balance of trees to add a little color, without obscuring or distracting from the buildings And the rockwork works super well here, especially the curving portions that make up the complex of dragon caves. Beautiful waterfalls as well, which are a really challenge in microscale -

Reddish brown with regular green looks so good in your landscapes The ruined wall looks great, and your unique troops make excellent use of one of my favorite shields -
"Got Lazy" Hey, it happens to the best of us right? Received after I made what seemed to be an inconspicuous comment in the Guilds of Historica.

Neat interior that along with the story gives a strong sense of what your character is like Very cool bookshelf that works well for the new book elements, and the cabinet in the back corner is just as nice

Book III - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
soccerkid6 replied to soccerkid6's topic in Guilds of Historica
I've been working on a good size landscape: Some plants and olive grass will be added to the olive green plates. I would like to have a small tree or two as well, but don't think I'll have space when the dwarven ballistas are added. -
I built this model as a prize for the 16th Colossal Castle Contest, which just started recently. As the name implies, it is a model of Rivendell from Lord of the Rings. Since I had already built a scene named Rivendell, I used its alternate name this time. Unlike my last Rivendell build, I didn’t base this directly off any source material. If you’d like a chance to own this model, build an awesome entry for the Micro Medieval Mountain category of the CCC. You can find more images on Brickbuilt. Comments and suggestions always welcome

Very cool minifigures that are instantly recognizable as Avalonian Though the Adventurers torso on Uncle Freca seems a touch out of place in the guilds, since it has a revolver tucked into the belt. Good render quality for the various scenes, and I like how you used wedge plates to give irregular edges to the path
