  1. TC-4 looks great. Most interesting of all is the leg printing. I really hope this is an indication of a new C3PO with leg printing. Hopefully they've perfected the eye printing this time around, I'm tired of crazy eyes staring at me
  2. That's pretty much what I said. They can use similar variations of costumes, but they can't all out steal costumes from Fox. Fortunately Marvel has incorporated similar costumes as the movie into the comic books meaning that Lego can choose a similar costume out of the comic books as a sneaky little tie-in without violating copyrights. Lego can't do exactly whatever they want but they can straddle the line on it for sure.
  3. They can't just make whatever they want so long as they don't use logos. Marvel and DC set guidelines for what they can use. In the case of X-men they can use the comic books (Which is why every X-men figure so far bears resemblance to specific comic book variations of the characters). However they cannot use costumes from the movies as they do not have the rights to do so. The only reason they've been able to make similar to the movie figures is because most of the comic books feature similar costumes (Though not completely the same). They can't make anything directly based on a movie that they do not have the rights too. However they can use similar variations of costumes so long as they were featured in the comic books. There's a fine line they have to walk on copyright, crossing that line could cause serious problems for Lego, lawsuits included. So while they'll use a similar line-up of characters they're unable to use the exact same look for them. And that ComicCon figure doesn't mean they can do whatever they want. Disney owns the merchandising rights to ASM2, so Lego can make sets and minifigures on it if Disney wants them too. This year it seems that rather than make sets for the film they've decided to use the same villains in their USM sets. In short they're using Sony's ASM2 to trick kids into buying USM sets. And since Disney owns the rights to ASM2 merchandising it means that unless they make sets theirs no competition to the USM sets.
  4. I'm really hoping they make a new hairpiece for Storm. That one in the prelims has just become overused to me, I have a ton of them (Not in white obviously, then again how many character really need that color). And honestly if they can create a hairpiece for Wonder Woman that incorporates her tiara they should really do the same for Storm. Hopefully only the angry side of her face features the white eyes (Sort of like how superman's angry side has red). For a none superhero white eyes would be distracting, and I would like to be able to use that head elsewhere as well.
  5. Indeed you're correct, she does indeed have brown arms. Also upon further examination the printing is showing a yellow border with the X symbol in the center. It also makes me wonder if her cape is of the usual design as it does indeed seem wrapped around her wrists. Perhaps the design they're using is this one: http://static3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20050409033445/marveldatabase/images/8/88/Storm_004.jpg
  6. I feel pretty much the same way. I'm happy to be getting a Storm at all, but unhappy that it doesn't appear to be the game variation. I'm still holding out hope though that it's just a prelim and that it might end up being that variation or at least a similar one. I mean it's rare that these leaked pictures ever look completely like the final product. And the Storm minifigure did look rather incomplete, what is seen of the torso decal is so sparse and incomplete, I just feel like it can't be the final product. It's been a weird year for minifigures so far. While they all look good, many of them just aren't based on what we want them to.
  7. I was hoping we'd get Storm and there she is, so I'm happy. Definitely looks like a prelim though, the printing seems a bit sparse, so I'm guessing there will be some changes for the final. Her arms are black though, so I guess that means we might not get the game version after all. Hopefully they at least give us the hairpiece from the game. Magneto is interesting and with a different head he'd probably look good. I like the old one better though. Hopefully more pictures pop up soon, I'm dying to see the new Wolverine (Mask please!).
  8. There's a trans dome piece connected to the hinges, or at least the dome is drawn onto the image. I suspect that the final will include a tan dome rather than the trans one drawn on the image (Perhaps since the piece doesn't exist in that color yet they just put the trans one there as a placeholder, just like the Squidward head).
  9. I was able to get the man-bat set at Target today and I think it's listed on Walmarts website, so I'd assume that's not an exclusive. As for the Joker set I've yet to see it anywhere either in store or online.
  10. Definitely excited for the cantina. I've been wanting a more accurate version of Luke's landspeeder, hopefully the final version is new rather than including the old one again (But I don't think Lego would be that lazy, at the very least they'd make some improvements). The dome piece for the roof is interesting to say the least. I hope that in the final version it is tan. I would assume that's likely, tan would be a new color for that piece I think, so it wouldn't appear in the prelim as the part doesn't exist yet. Honestly this looks to be the perfect remake to the last cantina set we got. Am I imagining it or is the leg printing changed on Luke so that he has white shoes?
  11. Metallo has indeed been rumored, but nothing definite has popped up. As for Wonder Woman it's been confirmed that she has a costume in movie (It was mentioned in an interview about the changes to Superman's costume). No doubt DC will want any costumed hero in their toy lines. Likewise if the Flash and Green Lantern appear in costume then I think they'll make it into a set. I'm sure that in 2015 the DC side of the theme will probably all be movie based (Except a couple), so I'm sure Nightwing, Robin and whoever is in the movie will get an appearance.
  12. There's a landspeeder sitting next to Han Solo at the cantina parking lot. The half of it we see almost makes it look like a microfighter version of Luke's landspeeder, so maybe that's coming in a future wave.
  13. Yeah, it's Andrea's hair. I think it fits Merida well, I mean it represents curly hair, the only real problem to me is that it doesn't represent the proper length of hair. But it doesn't bother me much. And I think this shade of orange is closer to the movie than any of the red shades would have been (They would have been too). As for the heads, it would appear that all of the princesses sport Friends heads rather than new heads. This is my only particular problem with these sets. I was really hoping that they would create faces to match how they looked in the movies rather than use generic Friends faces (After all Clone Wars sets have those anime eyes, why can't the princesses have "Disney" eyes). Perhaps down the road they'll change this, new themes end up getting tweaked at some point if they last long enough, so eventually they'd have to start improving the faces. Though it is possible that it was Disney who didn't want the actual faces used for some bizarre reason (Weirder things have happened).
  14. All of the Simpsons action figures have similar heads to this, so it's not really Lego's fault. They're 2D characters being forced into another dimension, rarely does that ever translate that well, I mean the way they look in video games is always kind of awkward and wrong. And plus I'm almost willing to bet that Fox requested the molded heads, if it were up to Lego they'd probably just have used the standard head with specialized hairpieces.
  15. I assume that Shield is lending him vehicles to help him in his crime fighting and that's probably the logic Lego has at work here. And Spider-man did have a vehicle in the original comics, he had the Spider-mobile, which he was paid to drive around to endorse a company. So he's certainly not above having vehicles, he just has them rarely.
  16. I really like the torso, maybe even better than the Avengers version. The lack of a beard almost doesn't look right though. I will say it's well designed even if it's not my personal preference. I am disappointed that they didn't take this opportunity to use/sculpt a different hairpiece. The current one just doesn't fit that well.
  17. Yeah, I've completely lost respect for them. They used to be unique, now they're just a quick cash in on a more successful brand. And the designs to their sets are just lazy. The one thing that has always set Lego apart from the other building block brands is it's look and design. Lego always goes the extra mile and even their lesser sets still manage to look more thought out than these hastily built copies that are floating around. I can't wait to see pictures of the house. I'm interested to see if they'll make the doorways taller due to the average height of the Simpsons minifigures being taller than normal minifigures.
  18. Well, Lego has convinced me to buy this entire wave. It's not all as good as it could have been, but at least it's more interesting than this years stuff. Seeing Electro up close has definitely convinced me on the design. The bank truck is actually a good design and the Doc Ock looks so spectacular that at $20 I'd have to bite. MJ and Power man are awesome. As for Green Goblin he's definitely not the version I was wanting (Which I expect is a majority opinion), but he does look very good up close. I'll wait for a sale for sure, but I'll still be adding it to my collection. The captain America set is pretty much perfect in my opinion. Three great minifigures and one really good vehicle that's effectively colored. The Hulk lab smash is pretty good too. All the minifigures do look really nice. Other than Thor's face looks wrong. Also it's curious that the lab itself is colored like Thor's minifigure. It's yellow, blue, grey, and black, exactly like Thor. It's just an odd choice.
  19. Padme was 14. I think Harry Potter and friends started as children and ended as adults (I'm not overly familiar with it). And honestly I'm tired of all adults just happening to be the same height. It's not the most needed element out there, but I would like to diversify my minifigure heights a little more. I just think there should be another leg height for the 12-16 crowd and to represent shorter adults. And I think another leg height would show physical growth better for characters that progressively age. I would just like to be able to show some difference in their ages, for Padme the only thing used to show aging is that the older one wears lipstick. As for exact height it was just a general idea, one or two studs shorter would illustrate the difference well enough I think.
  20. I don't really think the short legs need articulation. However they definitely need printing. The Hobbits would have looked much better with printing on the legs. Also I'm waiting for Lego to introduce another leg size. Something about a stud or so shorter than the regular legs to represent teenage characters. I mean we have legs to represent adults and children but we lack anything to represent teenagers, and there have been some characters that just don't look quite right being as tall as adults. Really one stud shorter would make all the difference. I definitely agree, the lack of printing is disappointing. I also think they should mold another style of dress, that would at least give us some variation.
  21. I don't think it's exactly fair that Pepper gets ignored despite saving that women in the mansion and taking down the main villain. And in fact she had superpowers while doing so. She may not be a regular superhero in the movies like she was in the comics but I think it's just a tad bit unfair to lump her in with do nothing Mary Jane. I mean she even appears in the suit saving Tony in the set, that should count for something. And she appears as Rescue in the Lego Marvel game. While I agree that she's a civilian minifigure, she has done superhero acts. So I sort of view her as an honorary superhero. But I suppose it's semantics ultimately and just a matter of opinion.
  22. All licensed sets have a contract that expires at some point. But just because the contract expires doesn't mean they won't renew it. If a theme performs well they obviously want to continue it. I believe when the original announcement was made in 2012 it was stated that it was multi-year contract reaching through 2014, meaning that if Lego didn't renew the contract it would end in 2015. With the success of the line though I would say Lego wants to hold onto this one for a while. Plus contract negotiations are actually a good thing, it will allow the deal to be reworked and perhaps a larger number of sets per wave. So I doubt the end is in sight.
  23. 2-3 years? I heard the contract only covers until 2014. Which with as popular as the theme has been I'm almost willing to bet they've already renewed it or are at least working on a deal. I don't see Lego discontinuing the theme anytime soon. On a side note I see we have that same guard in the Ock set, except now he has cheekbones. Poor guy, he's as in inept at his job in the Marvel universe as he is in the DC universe...
  24. We have about 25 male characters (With about 8 or so of them having multiple variations) and only 7 female characters (with 1 having another variation in this theme and two having a variation in the original theme) for DC. While that's not as bad as Marvel, that's still far off from being fair. On top of that only two of those women are superheroes, which is disappointing because I've always thought that DC had the better female heroes and yet we only have 2. It's not exactly a problem, it's just underwhelming. I am hoping for a summer wave, just because I don't feel like we got very much in this coming wave.
  25. I tend to not count the the comic-con stuff since their extremely limited quantities and most people don't have them. So we only have 3 normal release female characters for Marvel. And among those three only one serves as an active hero (Pepper I count as a hero, but she's definitely not a regular superhero by any stretch of the imagination, and in her current Lego variation she's just a civilian with a cameo/homage to her Superhero self) and even Black Widow is barely "super" (Admittedly she gets a lot done and is a hero, it's just that I'm more interested in characters with superpowers over another gun wielding spy). As for DC the problem stems from lack of female characters in the superhero and ally/civilian capacity. In that case we have Wonder Woman and Batgirl for the heroes and Lois Lane for the civilian/ally slot. Yes, they're miles ahead on female villains in comparison to Marvel, so I definitely give them credit for being ahead on that at least, but they lack in the other departments. Supergirl and Vicki Vale and officer Montoya are high up on my list for DC.
