I like the new style of boot printing to a point, but it bothers me that it's not printed on all sides. With the new molding technique being used for sleeves and whatnot in the Simpsons line I honestly think they should just use the same process to mold on boots.

I agree. I'd rather wait for a Teen Titans set to get Cyborg. I mean him being a part of the Justice League is interesting and all, but I like him better as a member of the Teen Titans.

That's disappointing, but I suppose it's reasonable. Though I feel like with the existing colors they might have been able to find something a little better, this shade just looks too dark, I feel like one of the shades of blue from the friends theme would have worked, though it probably would have been too bright (Though this color is too dark, there really is no winning here). Oh well, I'm sure by the time its remade in 10 years they'll have added more colors.

It's a smaller set, thus it will likely sell more. That right there makes a difference. Lego will move larger volumes of cheaper sets than they would bigger sets, so they can add new molds into those sets easily without it affecting the price greatly. Also you have to figure in how often that piece can be reused, Batgirl and Wolverine will likely appear again using those pieces (Easily recolored to fit whatever variation), so the cost of those molds will be spread across multiple sets in the long run. Flash is less likely to be reused, but that one seemed to be made of cheaper materials, so it evens out. Bigfigs like Green Goblin and the LOTR stuff ends up being so costly because they'll rarely if ever be used again (Let's face it, was there a clamor for ultimate Goblin to begin with?). With molds like that Lego wants to get everything out of it they can in the first run. Hulk has the potential to be used every few years, so he as a bigfig doesn't drive the prices as high as the other bigfigs.

No product is priced to match the expense it costs to make. Here though it comes down to the more bells and whistles, the more Lego can charge. Every little recolor, every printed brick, every new cowl, everything that the consumers clamor for Lego will charge us several times more than it cost them to make. Lego knows we'll pay for those things, so at the end of the day all of those things do effect the price.

Hulk isn't even new, just a print variation. The only completely new piece is Modok's head, otherwise we've seen all those molds before. My point is the same, new molds cost money (size of mold is a factor too). Again $50 is reasonable for the X-men set when you factor in new molds Plus new part recolors, new cape type and fabric and new printed bricks.

I'll agree that the skin color of the original Greedo is better, the arms maybe too. If the old Greedo weren't so hard to get now I'd just use the old head and arms on the new minifigure.

I gave an entire list of things that increase the price beyond just licensing and the cowl (I will grant you that licensing doesn't really effect the price much, though every once in a while it looks like it does). New molds, new capes (With a new fabric and more complicated design), new colors and printed elements (Which is pretty well documented as driving up the price). None of those things alone would single-handedly drive up the price, but all of those things combined make some impact on price. Plus the $50 range is always hit or miss on pricing. Just look at the new Hulk set or the Green Goblin set, neither of those go over 400 pieces (In fact Spidey manages to be under 300) and yet they hit $50. You'll notice that both of those sets have new elements (Modok's head and the Green Goblin are completely new), plus reprints of existing elements. Compare that to a set like the two face set which is $50 with over 500 pieces and has few new parts (If any, except for maybe a few minor recolors). It does look like parts can make a difference on the price. Or like they're trying to build hype. I have a good feeling we'll see him in minifigure form soon.

Plus you have Wolverine's cowl and Storm's cape (Which seems to be made of a different type of fabric than the standard capes). Plus printed elements (such as the Sentinel). Plus there are some parts with new colors (Storm's hair in white comes to mind). Add all of that to the fact that this is a licensed set and you have a somewhat overpriced set. It's worth it to me though, it looks awesome.

Wow, most of those sets are unbelievably small. Why would I ever buy a set to build Spongebob's bed? I mean I thought Lego didn't know what it was doing with this theme, but Mega Bloks has an even less coherent plan for it. The Krusty Krab opening in the center is an interesting idea, but the front doors don't open and their exterior design for the Krusty Krab is pretty bad. I'll give them credit for good color choices. Their figures for the characters are awkward as well. Most of them are really messed up. Squidward's legs are hysterically small in comparison to his torso. I don't understand why they just didn't scale these body parts correctly. The Mega Bloks figures have always confused me. Instead of having a standard design for them each character in any set is given custom pieces that aren't reusable anyplace else. The only thing they have in common with each other is those awkward arm joints. Honestly they're basically just crappy action figures at this point. Really Mega Bloks would be better off just making actual action figures and putting them in a set rather than these weird action figure/minifigure hybrids that never look good.

We have it in quite a few colors yes, but this I think is the first time it's in dark flesh.

Well looking up close at Luke I can say he's definitely related to Padme, they both have the same goofy smile. Hopefully we'll see the other side of the head soon. I think it's a good redesign for the most part, I think the cheekbones are fitting and at the very least he now has blond eyebrows. I'm glad to see an update on this version of Luke, the leg printing turned out much better this time. I'm a little bummed out they didn't do anything with the torso (there was room for improvement). The protocol droid is a welcome addition. It's nice to see that leg printing is becoming standard for the protocol droids. It makes me wish that we had an Ep2 version of C3PO. This body would be a passable stand in, but unfortunately I still wouldn't have the correct colored head, so I'll just have to wait a little longer for Lego to make him. Overall the minifigures turned out to be really good this year. Though Greedo's coloring still bothers me, the green just looks too dark to me.

The landspeeder is awesome. It finally looks pretty color accurate to the film. All I can say though is that it better be printed as I hate applying stickers to rounded surfaces. The Bith band is pretty good. And the new Luke is interesting, but I'll reserve judgement until I see some better pictures. Obi-Wan's robe printed on was sort of an unusual idea too, but I think it worked well.

I'm impressed with the X-men set. Granted Storm was different than I expected and Cyclops looks actually a bit plain to me. The jet is pretty awesome, Marvel always manages to deliver on vehicles. The Sentinel I actually really like. I will agree it could have been scaled differently, but as it is it actually looks pretty good. Storm's cape is interesting, it seems to be softer fabric and connects to her hands.

Greedo doesn't look final to me. It almost looks like they used Wald's head. I guess maybe they just decided to use a different color for him, that's sort of disappointing, I kind of think the older version was better. Maybe it will grow on me... Vader's interesting. His head almost looks glow in the dark. The eyes are bizarre...

The X-men set impresses me, it even comes with hair for Magneto and Wolverine. The X-jet looks perfect too me, it perhaps could be sleeker, but otherwise it's great. The sentinel doesn't look to bad either, definitely better than the prelims made it look. Still waiting for close-ups of Storm and Cyclops. I'm still disappointed about Storm's generic hair, but I'm less disappointed than I had been previously. Hopefully the overall design of the minifigure is good enough for me to ignore a standard hair piece.

http://www.wandtv.com/story/24726920/lego-systems-unveils-dynamic-collection-of-building-sets-to-engage-every-child-at-american-international-toy-fair Interestingly this article above says there will be Amazing Spider Man sets revealed. They probably just mistook the USM sets for being ASM (same villains after all). But I really wish it were ASM instead, but I'm sure that's a pretty common wish...

An interesting little polybag, I might just have to pick one up. Unfortunately it sort of highlights what I dislike about this theme the most, the faces. I mean the dresses, the sets, are all designed in great detail, but then you get to the face and it's generic to the point where they won't even recolor the eyebrows to match the hair. The only real difference I see between these heads is eye color and whether their mouth is open or closed. To me this theme looks like the characters from the Friends theme are cosplaying at Disney world. I hope future sets try a little harder to capture the face of the characters, I mean is giving each of them facial expressions that match their characters too much to ask for? Maybe I'm just too picky, but the faces bug me. It's funny that the Simpsons theme has specially molded heads to get every detail of the character correct, but meanwhile in this theme we can't even get correctly colored eyebrows. Oh well...

Sadly true. It is a good looking bigfig, but unfortunately it doesn't look like the version of Green Goblin I prefer. I'm at least glad that the USM TV series is more Goblin like than the USM comics (Where he's essentially Hulk with horns, purple pants included). After seeing the awesome classic version of Green Goblin in the Lego Marvel game I'm doubly disappointed we aren't getting a classic version. On the plus side though I'm betting his next variation will be the classic one. I mean Doc Ock was USM based in his first appearance and comic based in his second, I'm hopeful the same will be true for Goblin. Granted that means another year or two before we'd potentially get that variation... Who knows, maybe Lego will do something sooner than I expect.

I really liked the ending. It gave the movie a lot of heart and kind of enforced an interesting moral. I can see why people don't like certain aspects of it though. I mean they sort of went a bit deep and sort of halted the movie to do it. However I think it's a rarely used plot thread and sort of fitting for the Lego universe. Most animated movies are self contained in their own little universe and you don't really question it, but since Lego is a hands on product I think adding in how their world fits into ours was an interesting direction to go. In a way it would almost be too easy to just let it be it's own little self contained world. And the trailers had hinted it, so I wasn't exactly surprised.

Milehouse is in the Lego movie. Interesting design. But like all the others he looks just a little bit off. But it's a good design nonetheless.
