http://ramblinramblinman.blogspot.com/2014/03/toys-from-darkside-ep-1-lego-lunacy.html I don't usually hawk my blog around like a Victorian medicine man, but curiosity made me spend $2.50 to test the waters of clones. One was decent, one was godawful, but the packaging was oh so enjoyable.

Some of the models I feel have kind of a late 70s/early 80s Lego Town feel to them, as in they're simplified but you know what they are. The fail comes in the packaging, the actual brick quality, the horrifying minifigures, and not to mention how crappy they want to be like Lego so bad, that even Lego on their worst day is still leaps and bounds better than, say, Bricks Intellect on their best.

New Ashens fake Lego video! This time featuring such oddities as those cheapo candy building blocks that you can't actually build with and can teach kids to choke on real Lego bits thinking they're candy too! Also, Battleship Kreo.

Anyone else getting a Beatles vibe from that Pigboat logo? It does have a Yellow Submarine after all.

Yeah, the model looks decent enough, but the name is pure fail. However, it's Enlighten, who has a knack of ripping-off Lego's designs, at least early on.

Thank you! Sadly I can't lay claim to these, though I'd like to try my hand at video reviews one of these days. Ashens did do a small review of some Best Lock things in his Poundland reviews, including a Terminator and Stargate set (Both looked kind of bush league, even though the T-1000 was passable)Also, hilarious knock-offs, OP.

Interestingly enough most of the knock-offs in the video weren't too bad, aside from the nightmare-inducing minifigs and questionable builds (Look at the first set)

Chalk me up for this feeling too. Most of my creative moments have been hindered by either not having the right bricks or someone doing it first and doing a better execution. I have modded sets to my personal preference (Like my Melting Room became a James Bond death trap) or done purist minifigs.

Here's the original Fake Lego video: And then the actual bootleg Lego video (With some Batman bootleg trading cards thrown in)

Saw the Ashens video earlier. Pretty big fan of his over here, and he's done a few other Lego knock-off videos, including some of the bootlegged Ninjago/Ninja Turtles and Chima/Star Wars sets. He also did a video about the 2012 Olympic CMFs, and it's revealed he's one of us in terms of AFOL.

Batman: Arkham City - Prisoner Entrance & Interrogation Room
Amset-Rah replied to Dayton's topic in LEGO Licensed
This may be a guess, but I think the head is Doc Ock from the 2004 Spider Man sets, the beard is from Wiley Fusebot from TLM CMFs, and the body and legs are from the mad scientist from CMF series 4. Great MOC,by the way. I loved Arkham City, and these scenes are very recognizable.- 5 replies

Probably been said 200,000 times, but you used a Lego game die for your micro manager. Very clever choice for a piece, never would have thought of it.

That's a hilariously brilliant concept, man! I love all the Vampyre Hearse mods you've been doing, but this is easily my favorite, if for the comedy factor alone. I assume this is a mashup with the Ice Cream Machine, because of the giant cone on the roof?

Glad to hear some input straight from the horse's mouth. I personally like the corny style, and to be honest, if I ever began making reviews, I'd do the same thing. As I said in my post, you guys were the first Lego reviewers I came across aside from guys like Leokimvideo (Good friend of mine) or Brick Queen, and you do a great job appealing to everyone, both KFOLs and AFOLs alike. Keep on rockin, friend. On a personal note, I'm a fellow Georgia resident. Small world isn't it?

You know, I mentioned making a custom Coulson in the Purist Superheroes thread and someone suggested I use the POTC cook/Endor rebel head, and no I see why (Though at the moment I have Bilbo's head as a placeholder). Same with the hairpiece, but I was going to use the doctor's hair from Flying Flusher since I think the color's a bit better (Dark brown over black). Still good funnies no matter. I particularly like the House Party Protocol joke (Even if they did the same pun as a Deadpool mission in Lego Marvel)

I always thought the majority of the figures here were minor characters (Larry, Where are my Pants, Lincoln, etc.) or robots, with only a few main character variations (Hard hat Emmet, Western Wyldstyle, etc.). To me it doesn't matter if the character is good or bad, if I can use him/her, he/she's fine in my book. BTW, whoever posted "human" Wiley is a genius. Now I added him to my must buy list.

What is your least favourite Super Heroes set and why?
Amset-Rah replied to Godtshep's topic in LEGO Licensed
Least favorite DC set: Joker's Steamroller. The steamroller itself is fine, and the minifigs are great (Especially Batgirl and Nicholson Joker), but the Batwing in that set is atrocious. Least favorite Marvel set: Iron Man vs. Mandarin's Mario Kart. I'd say the Spidercopter or any "Spidey has a vehicle" sets, but their designs aren't that bad and can probably be rebuilt in another color. The only plus Mandarin's Mario Kart gets is the Heartbreaker Iron Man suit, and maybe the pieces, but otherwise it's junk. -
So far I only have 2-3, 2 of the new ones and an old one from a flea market score of older bulk bricks.

I think we may have a shoe-in for best theme of 2014 along-side The Lego Movie line. Every one of these sets are a must have in some aspect, be it the design of the set, the minifigures, the play features (Like that ejector seat), et al. Lots of useful pieces for customization (Infearno's headpiece can be used for a purist Ghost Rider or Dormammu easily) and all in all it looks like a fun theme. I too wonder if there's any little details that only an in-hand appraisal will reveal, like more hidden, if small play features. I will say that the Agents HQ is a little lacking compared to the 2008 one, but I still think it's a good set. I myself am more interested in the rogues gallery, which are all unique and not rehashes of the old Agents villains. What I feel's missing kind of is the sort of old school James Bond/spy aspect that the other had an inspiration from. It's a small nitpick, but seeing as one of the main agents does have a sort of James Bond look to him, I'll let it slide. That and the aforementioned ejector seat is classic Bond stuff. All in all, I'm pretty pumped, and I can hear my wallet crying already.

After seeing the ruckus at my stores which had this series, I decided I may as well use this as an opportunity to learn about the powers of Brick Link. Yes, I've never used it before, but that doesn't matter. WamP Guy is pretty cheap anyway, since I guess he has no new molds or anything, but Amazon is a big no-go. Larry's only a penny, but the shipping is insane, and some of the prices for other figures are just as mentally unsound. Then again, law of supply and demand is in effect.

Let's share our funny interesting photos!
Amset-Rah replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I didn't realize this threat was still going on. Well, I have a few new ones: And Oky, I'm sorry in advance for this next one, but your black and white series inspired me to do this: Not perfect, but I tried lining up Emmet and President Business as best as I could. -
Brickbuilt Minifig Instruments

Very nice looking keytar. I might have to borrow the design but I'd love to see your synth drums. The 80s music guy in me is dying to see them.- 6 replies

2006 Batman (Classic Black Suit) Minifig Question
Amset-Rah replied to jnm7880's topic in LEGO Licensed
A lot of older minifig legs don't have imprints inside the feet. To my knowledge, Lego didn't start having parts made in China until at the earliest maybe 2009-2010 when the CMFs were first made. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but I don't think there's ever been a Chinese made Batman aside from the Electro-suit Batman from the Batman/DC minifig guide.
