Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?
Amset-Rah replied to KingPixels's topic in Community
I don't mind the bright orange, since I'm more akin to the comics/cartoons and that reminds me of that look, but different strokes I guess. As for the Shield bike, it looks interesting to say the least but I don't have instructions sadly. -
I know someone already made a funny with this pun in the single pane licensed funnies thread, but I figured I'd do my own take on the joke:

Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

My Phoenix came in just the other day and aside from a bit of enthusiastic printing on her normal face (It's a bit thicker), she's spot on. My Sheng Yuan Fantastic 4 set shipped last week so I'm expecting it to show up soon and I'm hoping that Thing will grow on me. I still prefer Decool's version, but SY's Thing looks like a recolored Solomon Grundy. -
Ah, my mistake. Still, my point stands on the awesome, yet simple videos. (Shrug)

Should invest in Lego Marvel sets, or Star wars?
Amset-Rah replied to Nekchir's topic in LEGO Licensed
I stick with Marvel and DC because they're usually cheaper if you shop around (Don't buy from scalpers on eBay or you're gonna have a bad time) and the models have a bigger variety. The minifigs are the main reason people buy these sets but some of the models like the Hulkbuster or both Quinjets are worth the price as a whole. At worst, if you bought a set for the minifigs, you could use it as a parts pack or sell the model, sans figures, on eBay to make back some money. Long story short, I go for a couple of Star wars sets, but I'm a Superheroes guy -
I wish I could join in on the Marvel and DC characters gang up on Jar-Jar action, but I don't have a Jar-Jar to my name. Off to Bricklink I guess. Great shots everyone! I'm working on another composite so keep your eyes peeled.

Yeah I wouldn't call bootlegs purist, obviously. Good for customs, since I used a Decool Deadpool head for Red Hood, but I can't post it here since the Deadpool head's a fake.

I forgot about Artifex. His videos I wouldn't necessarily call reviews per say, but they're still fun to watch and they showcase the set's features without a single word.

My Guardians arrived in my mailbox safe and sound. I must have thanked you a million times, but thanks once again CopMike for running this every year and I'll be sure to participate again this year. -
Bootleg Super Heroes minifigs - worth it or not?

Same, with Chinese New Year and all that, that slowed things down to a crawl. At least it gives newbies to the world of bootlegs like me a chance to catch up. -
Gah, we got some groaners, but that's why I love you, Oky. Great batch!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Amset-Rah replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Those pieces originated in Galaxy Squad, if memory serves me. But yeah, Quicksilver is very accurate, almost spot on with his minifig counterpart. I feel they could have used another hairpiece with Scarlet Witch though, judging by the pic. -
[MOC] Batman - The dark knight TUMBLER - minifig scale
Amset-Rah replied to Zed_43's topic in LEGO Licensed
Reminds me of the Bane tumbler but better designed. It's a little too compact for my tastes, but that was a complaint with the Bane model too. Scaling can be a fickle mistress, but you nailed the look for sure. -

Oh wow, those Walking Dead figs look astounding, though I find his funny how the zombie characters come with the Monster Fighters zombie bride face printed on a flesh head. Speaking of zombies, who did that pack of bootleg zombie figures? The one that had zombified versions of CMF characters like the computer programmer and Emmet and whatnot? -

LEBQ looks like complete garbage. That's what people think of when they hear the word "bootleg." Their Aquaman is a joke. -

Elephant did all of the Iron Man mashup figures didn't they? I heard those were decent quality so these Walking Dead minifigs might be alright, though I have no interest in the show itself. -

I might have to snag me those Young Justice figures. I already have the SY Fantastic 4 and Decool Phoenix coming in soon, and Deadpool got a new head today that's a vast improvement (The Decool head is now going for a Red Hood custom) They're practically giving these sets away. -

At least their big fig Thing to me is better. The minifig Thing is crap, but I like the molded in lines and the color scheme is more comic-like/cartoony. He's really the only of the Fantastic 4 which surpasses Sheng Yuan, though I love the moving head, I'm just used to the Lego Marvel game design, which is what Decool did. SY did the rest of the Fantastic 4 justice in terms of the game design, though I'll have to fix the boot printing or just replace the legs. -
Jang is a class act, which is why I love him. He doesn't take any crap, but does it in a sedate way, which is a nice break from other reviewers who act like they ate a bag of sugar before going on camera.

Yeah that was my plan, bricklinking that particular model of the Batmobile in parts. $44 is a bit much for a model like that, bootleg or genuine. Kind of odd they'd release Ghostbusters bootlegs yet leave Back to the Future out in the cold. Speaking of which, eBay seems to have more marked up bootlegs but they say "custom printed" and whatnot. Not sure if I dig it. I went ahead and gave Aliexpress to get the Sheng Yuan Fantastic Four, though I'm going to replace Thing with Decool's big fig Thing. -
Honestly she's the only female Lego reviewer I know out there, so she may as well be a monopoly. That said, I think she feels as though she can get away with anything and still have that status until another female AFOL reviewer steps up to the plate and she has competition in her gimmick.

Yep, the trick is using pictures of car dents and using the overlay blending mode in Photoshop along with a high pass filter to determine the amount of denting you want. For instance, there's the good blow on his head, but a subtle dent on the shoulder.

Looks like Enlighten is the make for the '66 Batmobile, but who could be doing the Ghostbusters? -

Oh man do I ever remember the lack of punches and whatnot in Spider-Man. I never gave Spectacular a watch, but now I think I might have to.
