  1. I think that Lego Ideas should only accept builds that are non-licensed because there are so many other licensed sets and themes.
  2. I prefer visible studs in sets. No point trying to hide that it is a Lego set.
  3. I don't mind minifigs being unique and like the variety of the 80s and 90s minifigs but I on the other hand don't like too detailed minifigs. I think that leg and helmet printing should only be used on special minifigs like officers and robots like Spyrius and Unitron did.
  4. Thanks. That is close enough. Such a beautiful ship and awesome combination of ship, sails and minifigs. Is this your creation?
  5. They can be useless for someone (like me) who can't stand the fleshies at all. I very seldom buy licensed sets but when I do I always change the heads to yellow ones. I most recently did so with the subway Spider Man set which I bought because I wanted the train.
  6. I think they should make something similar to fantasy era Castle but with pirates instead. For those like me that prefer only light fantasy elements there is always the possibility to buy only the more "normal" sets (like I did during the Castle fantasy era).
  7. You're welcome! I noticed it when I looked for an old picture of mine. It was a very pleasant surprise to find Brickshelf fully functional.
  8. Why pay licenses for designs from recycled movies when Lego can make much better sets and designs themselves? In house sets are a win-win, the consumer gets cheaper and better looking sets and Lego can keep more of the profit.
  9. I think that using focus groups with kids when making/designing sets and themes should be kept to a minimum. The designers should be allowed more saying in the process and results from focus groups are very misleading. It's like having the kids choosing what to eat every day and they'll choose ice cream, candy and pizza and that is not good for them in the long run. The kids are supposed to play with the toys and not to design them. Of course should the sets be tested with kids but not in the way it's currently done.
  10. Those sets can quite easily be modified to normal Pirates sets an therefore I would like to see more of them. I found this picture on Classic Pirates FB but couldn't look at it closer because I'm not a member. Maybe @Mister Phes knows more about it? I like the sails. https://www.facebook.com/groups/classicpirates/posts/10162067551994195/
  11. That is good. Let's hope that many people start using Brickshelf again.
  12. @Plumber Brickshelf is accepting new accounts again. Of all image sharing websites I like Brickshelf the most. https://www.brickshelf.com/
  13. I bought the set used so the previous owner maybe changed it but the cable with the thicker brick is listed as being introduced in 1987 and as an alternate part for 6990 on Bricklink. https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?itemType=P&itemNo=5306bc015&in=S&v=1&oV=Y&srt=2&srtAsc=A I have also planned to buy parts and build monorail trains for other factions like SP 1 and M-Tron. In Idea book 260 there is a SP 1 monorail. I uploaded this picture to Brickshelf which is working again (login and uploading has been reintroduced!) and I'm very happy about that.
  14. It is now possible to log in and upload images! I noticed it just now. It is also possible to create new accounts (I didn't test that because I already have an account but I tried to upload a picture and it worked).
  15. If you build an all black one please share a picture of it. My cat is a tuxedo cat but with a different pattern. When I was younger we had a tuxedo cat that looked almost exactly like the set. I also like the cat from the ad and it would make a great set. For me the Futuron monorail is almost a holy set so I wouldn't change it in any other way than expanding the tracks. I looked at pictures of it in catalogs for hours and dreamed about acquiring it one day. In my old schoolbooks I used to draw pictures of it when I was bored. In the picture is the monorail before I changed the cable. The new cable looks almost the same but there are some minor differences (not visible when connected) because I believe the new one is from the mid 00s. I still have some small leaflets that I used to look at and dream
  16. I recently did some building on my 6990 Futuron Monorail. I think it is one of the best sets ever made and I love to operate the monorail train and transport cargo between the stations. I had to change the cable that connects the battery box to the motor to a new one I ordered from Bricklink. I mentioned this because it is one of my absolute favorite sets. I already wanted it as a kid and when my parents were going to buy it, it was recently discontinued. That was in the very early 90s and I thought that I'll never get it. I bought it later when I was 18 from Bricklink with money from my first job. Some sets that I have built from scratch recently is my Christmas present 1252 Shell Tanker, I got it new (I love my family). I built it on Christmas Eve and I have also recently built 21349 Tuxedo cat which looks almost like my cat. My cat finds the Tuxedo Cat weird and likes to hit it with his paws when I hide it behind pillows so that only the head is visible.
  17. After getting into the holiday spirit I built a small reindeer for my Santa's sleigh from the 2005 Advent calendar. Merry Christmas to everyone!
  18. Nice! Very realistic and good for both display and play.
  19. While I didn't like the Mutant Blacktron in it's original form it was easy to modify into a real Blacktron 2 astronaut that looks fantastic.
  20. I think that they should release one exact copy of a classic minifig in each series such as a yellow Futuron astronaut or the Black Knights knight with white dragon plumes.
  21. A new Vikings theme would be fantastic and I feel the same about something Greco-Roman based but not if it's related to Monkie Kid in any way or form.
  22. I think one has to be a hardcore Lego fan to stay interested in Lego trough those years. From all the people I know in real life it is only me and another guy that stayed seriously interested in Lego during all the teenage years. Most people thought that they were too cool for Lego during those years and I think no matter what designs Lego makes they will not buy. Many of them regained interest in Lego in their 20s when they had matured and their hormones had settled.
