  1. I have to admit this is a simple build, but I hardly see the point in making it too complex. See, this entry is all about the story, and less so about the means through which it is told (the build).
  2. I feel like they fit the colour theme of the build better. Black strings would just needlessly stand out so this works.
  3. This sounds a little like the ship of Theseus ; will replacing one part of a boat each day until all parts have been replaced result in a new boat or not? In this case, it is quite apparent that a good chunk of effort has been placed in making sure that all the original details are there.
  4. It was probably intended as a little bit of greebling. I think it does its job, but it can also really easily be removed/covered up.
  5. @YellowFrog, especially if you patiently wait for sales to happen! Then you can make a big return on investment.
  6. *Were banned in the United States of America, we in the rest of the continent had nothing to do with their silliness. Agreed about it being an absolutely bizarre decision.
  7. The new version looks much better, with a ton of much needed improvements. The additional foliage both distracts from and hides some of the bricks on the jagged beach, so this partly fixes that issue as well!
  8. Well, as the romans would say De gustibus non est disputandum. As such, I feel like letting the creator choose would be the best course of action. As for me, these are studded bricks, why try to hide it?
  9. @YellowFrog fair point, we might be pirates around these parts, but we are law-abiding pirates! Otherwise, I think that putting the shark fin closer to the corner could satisfy YellowFrog's request. Then again it's your build, and I feel like it's not an issue. So it's your choice...
  10. @YellowFrog I'm going to accept the fact that this is a little bit of editing magic, since at 45 degrees it looks bad in both photos. So I'd rather take two separate photos with two different angles and hope no one notices. @Autumn Agreed about the lack of apples, and in the updated version, there will be something done about the angled walls, since those seem quite unpopular.
  11. Yeah, especially since he's logged in more than once in the past few days. Update as of 2247 EST, august 4th Math Wizard 44 32.8% (+6.3%) Me 50 37.3% (-2.9%) SevenDeadlyStrea. 3 2.2% (-0.7%) Autumn 8 6.0% (+4.0%) YellowFrog 29 21.6% (-6.8%) I'm aiming for the big one, can anyone catch up? (YellowFrog is one reply wave behind Math wizard).
  12. That's a great example you've given us! And I have to agree about the colour consistency aspect. I'd say pick one colour and run with it!
  13. I have to agree with YellowFrog here. Having a palm tree is a minimum in the scorching heat of the carribean!
  14. True, and I could use some more feedback from some other sources. @Autumn , @Captain Pirate Man, @Mazin, do you have anything you'd wish to add to the conversation? This is your chance to try to woo me to vote for you in the nomination phase!
  15. Indeed, but maybe just retaking the picture from an angle where it looks hidden could do the trick? Otherwise, I don't think it's a big deal, most people probably won't mind all that much.
  16. Good point @Autumn ! I have to agree, especially when looking at the wonderful cloth sail, which looks totally makeshift. It almost looks strange that the raft is so flat and perfect, even replacing the one plate with two or three of different colours would go a long way!
  17. You thought we weren't going to notice, how much you underestimate our willingness to nitpick for a few more replies! (kidding) Yeah, I use certain software where you can sample any colour on the picture, so you sample a bit near the hole, and fill it up, shouldn't take more than a few minutes
  18. @Autumn , there is indeed a lot of cramping in there, but that is how a real jungle looks. This is especially true if this spot is being hidden by the local tribe.
  19. @Math Wizard, I think we both use flickr as a hosting service on Eurobricks. I'll see what I can do and try to fit it in tomorrow, but I can't promise anything.
  20. Otherwise, I can suggest simply putting fewer of them, say Steve and a soldier or two, and we can pretend the rest of them are in the fort. Or if you are making, say a schooner or something like that, they could be under the deck, with Steve on the lookout for imperials.
  21. @Math Wizard I don't have any I'm quite sure, since I recently did a visual inventory estimate. But I second your proposal, I wanna see what it looks like, irregardless of the result, out of genuine curiosity.
  22. Did you mean to take the bit at the front of the build that I made with slopes and copy it and switch it so that it faces the other way. Which would then allow me to move it to the other side so that it makes the bricks look straight? @YellowFrog what do you think of this proposal ? (if you understand it that is, I'm not sure I have...)
  23. @Math Wizard, that's a good idea for saving money or avoiding the wait of an order! However, Star Wars figures are often more expensive than castle ones.
  24. @Andy-Roo, real Lego sets often have no more walkable space. Which is arguably an issue as this is a MOC but I feel like that's acceptable for a contest entry, it just needs to get votes, not judge points!
  25. @Math Wizard, that could work, but it's going to be a challenge. See, I am using the same support for the wall and for the slope itself so as to save parts.
