  1. Noted, but you best get posting, there's a lot of ground to make up! Here's as of 1400 EST on august 4th @Math Wizard 27 26.5% (-7.7%) Me 41 40.2% (+0.7%) @SevenDeadlyStreamers 3 2.9% (+1.6%) @Autumn 2 2.0% (-0.6%) @YellowFrog 29 28.4% (+6.0%) 2 Notes : if you are at 0, I have not written your name, all you need is 1 reply and you shall be included. Also, If you believe there's a mistake, send me a message, I am but human.
  2. No problem, as my math professor would say when he made a mistake "it's like when I crush a pedestrian while driving : it was an accident". As for the shark fin, I feel like it's quite useful, but arguably it could be thinner, maybe using a few tiles or plates inserted sideways into the bricks?
  3. @Math Wizard, part of the fun of Lego is the childishness, the fact that one would try to hide it misses the point in my book. And while I agree for mechanisms (including technic mechanisms), I feel like structures follow different rules.
  4. @Samarth, what will this new entry be about? Hopefully some more boats, but I'm confident your islands and buildings are just as nice.
  5. Perhaps, but I've seen one too many grey castles, so I personally quite like seeing some variety, plus colonial buildings were generally built with whatever was available locally. So it'd be a little more credible if it were tan instead of grey.
  6. I definitively agree, maybe using some curved bricks (like we see elsewhere in the build) would work best? Otherwise, some plates could be used to make it less jagged.
  7. @SevenDeadlyStreamers I'll see what I can do, otherwise, would you maybe prefer one of the triangular flags? I can absolutely put a sticker on such a flag, so it might look a little better.
  8. @YellowFrog, I'll add a campfire there and/or make the tree a little bigger, does that sound any better? If not, what suggestions do you have, if any?
  9. @SevenDeadlyStreamers Out of curiosity, what will the next build be about? Will it be yet another remake, or shall it be an entirely original design?
  10. I can do something small, but it is going to be challenging, as I only have 40 parts remaining, and just a 4x8 plate with cobblestone (the minimum length for an extra stand to fit) would be 25-30 parts, plus a couple parts to support it, plus 15-20 parts for the wall, and I'd already be over the limit
  11. I am already working on an update, and the update will have a realistic base. Well, this is meant to be a scaled version of the original, so I don't want to add an element that didn't exist, any suggestions on your part?
  12. That's the cutter that Steve owned in 6277, not the Barracuda. The feathers could be changed, but I think anything else would look a little strange, any proposals?
  13. Well, I've seen Lego sets that used such a technique for books. Harry Potter's Hogwarts is based on European castles, so this feels like an appropriate European location.
  14. I believe it is somewhere in Europe, I'd probably guess Western Europe (but not the UK since they left Europe a few years back). I think it's nice to see toys being used elsewhere than in the comfort of one's house.
  15. I have to disagree, the colour adds a lot to the atmosphere of the build. It would remove from the old-timey feel that the builder is going for.
  16. I believe the cloth piece is from 6277 or 10320, it is the merchant cutter's cloth. I believe this is a good way to tie the MOC to Steve.
  17. Glad to know you like it! Do you want an update with posts or for me to simply edit my first post?
  18. I'm glad to see you like the slope! Actually I built with the intent of making it look sideways, so that way it'd be a little bit more unusual than yet another slope with straight buildings on it. I'm open to change, but I'll ask @Math Wizard for his opinion on this debate. Do you also feel like it is necessary?
  19. @YellowFrog, I linked the inspiration for the bridge, and if you zoom in and look at the picture of that pinterest post, you can see strings going around the buckets and being tied at each end, which does the trick. I'm glad to see you like the plate result. I'm currently working on an update, do you see anything to improve?
  20. @thewatchman, well, true pirates don't really need "planes" to go from one point to another! And that roof proves that Keeping it simple is better than simply trying to dump a load of details in such a small space.
  21. Yeah, but I feel like it is quite important to have some variety. And anyways it is implied that there's a roof which isn't being shown.
  22. For those who are curious, here's an update on the challenges after one full day and a half (my estimates at least, time 0911 EST, August 4th) @Math Wizard 26 replies 34.2% of critic replies Me 30 39.5% @Mazin 0 @Garmadon 0 @Captain Pirate Man 0 @SevenDeadlyStreamers 1 1.3% @Autumn 2 2.6% @YellowFrog 17 22.4% Currently, a two way race, but things could change...
  23. Arguably, that would be a concern, but that would also be the case in real life. And I'm confident Steve has learned to jump over a few crates after that challenging climb over a skeleton you sent him on.
  24. Thanks for the feedback! I didn't know how to make the roofs look like palm trees, but your idea sounds great. As for the statue, I also agree about the point you've made there. I'll try to make the boats look less like they're floating, but unfortunately there's no way to make the boats legally hold onto the build and avoid any studs on the water.
  25. I quite like this build, and as always from you, there's more effort on the storytelling than the build (which is anything but lazily-built)! If I have one critique to make, it would be on the top picture you've selected, you've got a brilliant real-life version of it, and you end up using the digital version as a "thumbnail picture". In the voting stage, people will mostly look at the picture in the index, and if it looks digital vs physical, that could very well cost you a few votes...
