Sorry for the double-post, but I just noticed something: The Nuva symbol on Pohatu's chest is wrong. The lower horizontal line needs a smaller vertical line in the lower right corner. You... You don't realize how much this bothers me. I really like Pohatu, but this really messes my Lego OCD.

Same with mine. I figure it's just some extra tightness that'll go away as it's used and worn down a bit. And welcome to Eurobricks! Enjoy your stay! DOTM Shockwave, your Lewa looks great! Funny how a small change can make him look so much better (which is saying something since I liked Lewa to begin with).

I'd still vote for Ikir because you can't argue with flaming wings of death. Speaking of Umarak, opened him up today. He's pretty cool and fun to mess around with. Love the colors and super happy you're able to raise the shoulders a module. Plenty of room in there, and it makes the figure look sooooo much better.

Furry side in, for me. Anywho, still need to pick up some of these. Definitely getting Kylo. Maybe the Stormtrooper (probably the Stormtrooper?). I would like to get Rey, but... I just wish she was in her non-desert attire. It'd be nice to get an updated figure in the summer, but I doubt that happening. -
I've never tried it, myself, but if I remember from the textiles class I took in high school, when ironing small/thin pieces of cloth, if you sandwich it between other pieces of cloth, it should prevent the risk of burning. And use low heat just to be extra safe. That's all I can think of.

Even having some of the sets in hand, I can't decide how I feel. They're not bad but they're not good either. One thing I will say, though: I don't find them very fun to mess around with. Like, building and stuff. I forgot how much more difficult it is to remove pins and axles than it is to pop off CCBS shells and other balljoint-related parts. I tried rearranging some of Kopaka's armor bits and detaching and re-attaching the piece of unity just wasn't as enjoyable as pooping off the shells. I like the quick and simple that CCBS offers. But that's all about the build. The final designs aren't bad, and I think they look fairly decent (heck, even the torso piece is growing on me). I'm just hesitant to take them apart since it won't be a quick endeavor to reassemble them.

I think "new jester hat" is referring to 'new jester hat piece." So, since it's not like the current jester hat, it kinda is a new design? I mean, I see your point, but I also see why people would prefer a jester hat with "horns."

Well that's unfortunate. I had a lot of fun combining the 2015 Toa into Kaita. I may still try it with the 2016 Toa just to see if I can come up with anything. Because, yeah, I'll probably end up getting all the sets. After messing around with Pohatu for a bit, my faith in the wave has been rekindled. He's surprisingly not that bad.

Okay, built Kopaka and Melum. ... *sigh* What to say... Let's start with the build. It was a nice throwback to days of old. But I couldn't help but feel that it was really... Disjointed. Especially Kopaka's shoulders. It's like it was trying too hard to be complex and resulted in a build that didn't really flow. The new parts are neat. I like the Creature head and Kopaka's mask. The crystal sword is cool. The piece of unity is cool. The torso... Count me in the boat that doesn't like it. Way too much detail. Melum is so-so. Looks fine, but his legs are a bit too short, and the shoulders are kinda awkward. Doesn't pose too well I find. Kopaka on his own. Ugh. Too lanky. Looks pretty bad. Just... Looks off to me. I like the sword, though. That's cool Unity Mode is, I feel the main draw. Looks very nice. Colors work and gives Kopaka some much needed bulk. So yeah, if you're getting the set, it'll be for Unity Mode. Next up is either Umarak or Pohatu and Ketar. Guess I'll see how they hold up.

So I said I'd either get the Rumble Blade or the Robo Horse at the Lego Store. I ended up getting them both. Have yet to build them, but I'm pretty excited. Also swung by TRU where they were stocking the NK sets. Overheard one of the employees refer to the Jestro set as Jextro's Evil 'Mobile' (as in mobile phone). I got a kick out of that.

Went to the Lego Store (and spent way too much). Got Umarak, Kopaka/Melum, Pohatu, and Ketar. Umarak 'cuz he's the big bad, Kopaka and Melum just because, and Pohatu and Ketar because I always get the Stone sets first.

For a swamp theme, I think the scurrier equivalent could be like some kind of seed, spore, or nut creature. In-story they would eventually grow into larger plant-men. I just think it'd be cute to have an evil, walking seed. Maybe with a hold on the top of the head to attach various plant pieces for some variety. Also, can't remember if I already posted this, but count me in for a chess set. So long as it's good. Oh, and I should be getting my first Nexo Knights set tomorrow at the Lego Store! Time for my annual blow-my-Christmas-money-on-Lego New Year's Extravaganza. I'll probably pick up the Rumble Blade or Robo Horse. Depending on what else I decide to get.

True, true. G2 could be some parallel universe or somesuch. Doesn't need to be connected through... time. Still, curious to see if/how they connect the continuities. I just see way too many potential faults with the idea, but who knows what they could come up with. Also, I feel the need to mention that there's the possibility that the bottom half isn't[i/] G1's Vahi. All we know is that the bottom half is lost. Nothing beyond that. And agreed. I love the "might be" connections. Leaves a bit to the imagination.
-
WELL NOW. Being an advocate of not wanting the two continuities to be connected, all I can say is that I'm intrigued. Right now I'll just sit back and see how this plays out. Though say, hypothetically speaking, that the lower half is the Mask of Time from G1. My problem is that the Vahi was never "half a mask" to begin with. It was a full mask that looked like half a mask. I guess if G2 is super ridiculously far in G1's future, the villagers could have just assumed it was half or broken and made the top to "fix" it.

That book looks fantastic. Do we know how thick it is? I mean, it looks pretty considerably sized (not the size from the show probably, but large enough). Bonus points is it's hardback. I'd buy it in a heartbeat if that's the case.
-
I was thinking that too. And you got the right connection points: the hole on the nose and the two bar clips on the back of the head. Time for some of those Spherus Magna bio-mechanical dinosaurs.

Yes. And since this is a pseudo-castle theme, it needs a dragon. But instead of a conventional dragon, give us a giant bat-dragon monster.
-
Sometimes I wonder if the Bohrok-ish appearance was intentional... Anywho, I really do like Terak. Maybe it's the giant hands. I love giant claw/hand weapons. But he's just so cute. Though I wonder if it's possible to have his arms move alternately. Like the dual swinging arms of the 2015 Toa. Would make a neat digging appearance. Of course, that's not to say what he has is bad.
-
Thanks for the review! Man, your photography/editing is superb. Anyway, I'm glad to say I really like Tahu. Clashing textures was never something that bothered me, so that's good. And I don't mind the over-abundance of gold. Would I have preferred more red? Sure. But probably in place of some of that trans-orange, if anything. Maybe the shells on his forearms... I just think the gold looks nice and would want to keep it.

Sand green, eh? Didn't Jango have sand blue? I'd say Boba would be our sand green mystery man. -
Thanks for this and all the other reviews! Onua is pretty great now that I look at him. And thanks for showing him with the shoulder pads facing forward! I was wondering if that was possible, and I'm glad to see that it is. Looks so much better.
-
So basically what you're saying is don't get the Stone sets :P Oddly enough, I'll probably pick them up first. I can't break tradition. Gotta get Pohatu first. Though I'll probably be getting Kopaka/Melum and Umarak as well in the same haul, so it's all good.

Yes, loving the Netflix art style. A wonderful blend of set accuracy and stylization. Looks pretty slick! And new story info! But I still want to know where Umarak came from...

Lewa looks to be one of the better Toa this wave, but he has a common problem that many other 2016 Toa share: the arms. They're too short. Maybe if they would be lowered, like, a module they'd be better. I'll definitely be rearranging some things when I get him. Otherwise, he looks pretty great. And his Unity Mode looks pretty sweet as well.

Well... I've read Transformers RID and MTMTE and things after that. I still have a stack to read of everything post-Dark Cybertron. Just haven't gotten around to starting on it. For the past while now, Lumberjanes keeps catching my interest. If anyone's read it, is it good? I've head good things about it, so I may just go for it. Seems like something I'd be interested in.
