I figure Ikir and Uxar will share the flapping wings function and Terak and Ketar will share a function that seems to be an arm swing. Terak will dig and Ketar will swing his blades. Akida doesn't get a function because it has six shooters. And then there's Melum who I would assume would have the same function as Terak. Huh. Just noticed Ketar and Terak are anagrams of each other. And oddly enough they appear to share a function.

Y'know, it occurred to me how few CCBS figures used a torso and a chest piece. The only ones I can think of are 2.0 and 3.0 Heroes, 2015 Toa, most of the DC and Marvel Constraction and the first wave of Contraction Chima. Otherwise, pretty much all the figures used just a single torso shell. Granted, all the Heroes possessed a Hero Core for some detailing, but that's hardly a whole chest piece. Though, I'm not defending the use of single-piece torso shells. I much prefer the torso with chest armor. I just find it interesting that the 2016 Toa's torso armor is more the norm in CCBS builds. Either way, I'd probably be more keen with them if they had a connection point for armor add-ons.

Thank you so much for this riveting and informative conversation. I'm being completely serious. Learned a lot about design and such from you guys. So thanks. That being said, I keep looking at the sets, and I still can't tell if I like them or not. The Toa, anyway. The Creatures, I'm all for. They're adorable and I love small sets. Plus they come with flippin' mobile Bear Trap that look like they just walked out of Rupture Farms. I'm so stoked for those little guys.

I'm still on the fence about the piece. I think I'm just so used to CCBS at this point that a G1-esque piece throws me a curve. Especially one that has Technic connection as opposed to the normal ball socket. It's not a bad piece by any means, and I'm sure it'll come quite in handy. It's just... A bit of a shock. Also not sure about the aesthetic. Compare it to our other 'G1' CCBS piece, the piston add-on. That has a good mix of detail and flat surfacing to have it fit in with other CCBS parts while still retaining some of G1's detailing. This new piece has a little too much detail, for my taste. For G1 and G1 parts, it's great. But for fitting in with CCBS, I'm not so sure...

System parts in Constraction? A bit, but not as much as I'd like. Also, just noticed the Creature masks have lightsaber-sized bars on the back (as well as a hole on the nose area for horns and things). The Jungle Creature has was looks like Exo Force robot arms attached to the back. Speaking of which, I find it nice that said masks come in both Gold and Silver to better match their Toa counterpart's color scheme.

I doubt an entirely new system. If anything, it'll be something I've been hoping for: a good blend and balance between systems; specifically CCBS and Technic. Though honestly, it'd be my dream to see Contraction sets utilize not only Technic and CCBS but also System parts.

Count me in on the "feeling confused" boat. The sets look cool, but there's just so much going on. So many new molds (though that's nice to see). And strange Technic constructions that just leave me asking 'why?'. I imagine more will come to light in terms of some of the design choices when the sets are released, but right now I hope it's not 'complex for complexity's sake.' There's got to be more going on. Specific thoughts: The new technic shell or whatever is cool. I don't exactly get why it's a technic connection, though? It's like CCBS doesn't know what it wants. I'll just view it as armor for the small torso first that happens to also be used for limb armor. The new torso armor... A bit too detailed. And I would have preferred to separate parts (chest and torso). Finally, I feel the torsos are going to be primarily Technic-based with the pelvis being the sole CCBS bone. And that allows not only a gear swivel, but also a more filled-in inside.

Personally, I love the concept. It's the set designs that bother me. They just seem so... Old school. They don't look as pretty as other modern-day sets.

Yeah, I was kinda joking... And when was this? I assume the book since I haven't read it yet. ... Maybe he just got lucky. :P

That's my problem with it. Couldn't find the words to describe it. The sets do look very retro, and I'm not sure if I like that. I prefer the more clean and sleek look modern Lego sets have. I mean, I like old sets, but not for this day and age.

While that would be humorously ironic, it just doesn't seem right. Considering the Mask of Creation was created long ago, I can only assume it has been passed down the generations from Mask Maker to Mask Maker, and the same has been done with the Mask of Control. In other words, said masks aren't specific to Ekimu and Makuta, but rather the Mask Maker profession. More speculation on my part. My current head-canon until more info comes to light. That being said, it would be hilarious if neither of them had any talent, and the Masks are just handicaps to make them better at their job.

Wow. Onua. Can't tell if I like his new look or hate how different he is from the Master version. Either way, he does look pretty cool. And Trans Purple shells on him it seems as well as Terak. Speaking of Terak, him and Ikir are pretty sweet. Can't wait to see the other creatures. Also first time seeing the Kopaka sketch. He's alright, I suppose. But I'm worried that Melum is going to be a clone or very similar to Terak...

I'd imagine the original use for the mask was to control the fires/heat and metal in order to make masks. But I figure it also has enough power to control beings of lesser minds such as animals and the undead. So sapient beings like Toa and the rest of the islanders wouldn't be able to fall under the Mask's control. Just my interpretation of its power.

Hmmm... After seeing the sets... I'm not too sure. Something about the sets just doesn't seem that appealing. I'll reserve further judgment until we get official images.

Oddly enough, if I recall correctly, someone brought up the point that the Skrall Armor can be attached to CCBS bones very early in the year. I'll need to see if I can dig up the topic...

Y'know. If you gave Umarak wings and a tail, he'd pretty much be the Jersey Devil. This is a good thing.

Found the (or a? Is there just one?) picture. Oh my, yes. I love how this looks. That Big Knight looks fantastic. Love him. And Jestro is... Kinda terrifying. Also loving that Lava Golem guy in the back. He looks looks cool. Oh, and is that a new chain piece? Looks like the stud at the end has a link that's vertically attached rather than horizontal. That seems useful.

Did a side-by-side comparison. Definitely not the SW Torso shell. Look around the collar. The SW torso has a much narrower neck opening compared to the Toa. Also, the pelvis is different as well.

I thought the Mask of Control was lost after Ekimu and Makuta duked it out? But yeah. Doesn't really matter in the long run. I just want to know if Kulta is a singular, conscious entity or if he's being possessed.

Hooray! No SW Torso! They don't look too shabby. Digitigrade legs on Umarak is pretty cool. After hearing about his antlers, I was wondering if he'd have such legs. And his shoulders seem to use the bear trap parts. Unfortunately, I foresee the same problem Skull Basher has with those horns of his... Not much to say about the Toa. But the Vorox armor is something interesting. Looks way to similar to be a look-alike CCBS piece.

...? I'm a fan of trans parts and blends, so no problems there. But the thing that really gets me is the SW armor. If you thought the sets had height issues before, the SW armor would require a large torso making the Toa even taller than before. And I really can't see how the $15 Toa will be able to accommodate that body (unless they just have larger builds but fewer parts?). Not to mention, that piece is pretty heavily influenced by Clone Trooper armor. Seeing it on Bionicle would just be... Awkward. And no gearboxes, what? That seemed like a staple of G2's design. Right now, I'm a little bummed. Hopefully pictures will change my opinion... On the upside, Umarak and his walking bear traps sound fan-frickin'-tastic. A black and green dude with a unique build, bow, and antlers sounds sweet. The creatures sound pretty nifty too. Little sad we won't be seeing an armadillo for Stone, but looks like I was right with the scorpion. And judging by Kopaka, seems like the Toa can combine with them. And finally, the Mask of Control. Judging by the drawings, it going to be one heck of a mask. Probably even cooler looking than the Mask of Creation.

That was a good episode. They're really building some suspense here for the coming episodes. Also, I can't decide if Kulta's actually being possessed by Makuta or if Makuta is just giving him orders. The wording wasn't very clear and only said that Makuta was "controlling him," which I feel could go both ways.

I change mine (and my signature) frequently usually depending on what anime I'm currently sucked into. While I've been done with it for a while, I've held onto this current one from Xam'd: Lost Memories (specifically the main character, Akiyuki, with his Xam'd mask). Signature is also a quote from the show.

Then don't post anything. With Itaria being suspended and the Castle 2016 topic being locked, I think it's best to just not even bother. Honestly, all this insanity is kinda killing the hype for new sets for me...

Well that's... Different. Not really too impressed with this one. I'll probably pass on it. Thanks for the drawing, though!
