Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Not really Pixar, but it is Disney, so here is the teaser for Big Hero 6: I gotta say, this looks fun. I was a bit skeptical about this film since I don't know anything about the comics, but based on this cute trailer, I have a good feeling that Disney is gonna keep their streak going with this one.- 279 replies

Hi everyone! By popular demand, I have made race cars for the new minfigs from this year! I wasn't really happy with my first Riddler car and since TLG made the odd decision to release Riddler in a racing suit, I simply had to make an update for him. Also, while it may seem very redundant, it was highly requested, so here is a race car for the Flash. And the lean green racing machine next to him is Martian Manhunter's kart. Riddler, Flash, and Martian Racers by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Martian Manhunter's kart has a spoiler that resembles the pointy collar that he usually wears. Flash's car features his signature lightning bolts in the back. And while Riddler's vehicle is a mini version of his dragster, this one can't hold any moneybags or bombs in the back, at least not many. Riddler, Flash, and Martian Racers back by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr On the less colorful side we have three more racers from the Bat-mythos. I updated Nightwing's car to match his New 52 costume. Man-Bat's kart looks like a hairy beast much like him. And Batgirl's car is curvy and black with purple and gold accents. Bat Racers 2 by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Batgirl's kart has a purple spoiler to match her cape, Man-Bat's kart has little bat wings as a spoiler, and Nightwing has a bird-wing shaped spoiler as before. Bat Racers 2 back by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr I hope you like them. I have added these to the Lego Ideas project which is already at 1684 supporters and it only has less than a year to reach its goal now, so if you want these to become a set, please share and support it!

Thanks for bringing the humor back into this thread, Veyronian! That's a good one. I don't own the sets either and I'm not planning to, but you can send me your idea in a PM and I can see what I can do once we get some better pics of those sets if you want.

Please, sj1984, calm down. You really are overreacting. I never meant to offend anyone, except maybe racists, of which I am definitely not one, so I'm sorry if you took it the wrong way. You completely misinterpreted my joke. You are right, a parody of racism is meant to make fun of the ignorance and stupidity of racists, and that's what I was going for. You're supposed to laugh at Anakin's stupidity, not at War Machine. Again, I'm sorry if that wasn't conveyed correctly, but that doesn't give you the right to call me a racist.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Discussion
Oky replied to BlueberryWaffles's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I disagree. I think they could work just fine as regular minifigs (assuming they're roughly the same size as the turtles like their 80's counterparts). Skinniness is always hard to translate into minifigs, but they usually pull it off as evidenced by many female characters such as April and Karai. Besides, losing his skinniness might make Bebop resemble his 80's version more which some people might prefer. As for Rocksteady, he could just have the head and armor of a Chima Rhino. That would make him bulky enough in my opinion. The only new mold they would have to make is for Bebop's head. -

Ugh, Donnie is the worst of them. I mean, what's up with those nerdy glasses? Curse you Bay and your overly stereotypical characters! On the bright side, we finally have some pics of Bebop & Rocksteady for the cartoon! I really like their designs! Would be great to get these guys as minifigs. -

Looks like they fixed the email issue. I had the email resent again two days ago and I finally got it and was able to activate my old account. Some observations: The activity/news feeds aren't as useful anymore. I'm usually only interested when people comment on my projects or my comments on other projects, not any of their other activity, which is what it mostly consists of now. Also, as it has been mentioned, the feature showing the current activity on the site is now gone which was always useful. The Clutch Power points seem kind of pointless (no pun intended). Correct me if I'm wrong, but aside from putting you on the leader board if you're in the top 10, they're just imaginary internet points and therefore pretty useless. I like that you can edit comments now. On the other hand, you cannot edit your projects anymore. I get the idea behind keeping the original pitch and updates separate, but what if you just want to fix something on the main page? And needless to say, the new deadline seems pretty short. It's going to be much harder for projects to reach their goal now without spamming up social media and fan sites with support requests. So yeah, this seems like a step back for me and I'm not sure how much I will continue to use it now, but lets see how it goes.

Like others, I'm not getting the confirmation email, even after resending several times. Hopefully they'll fix this problem soon.

Those already have separate threads dedicated to them. And it's not a blog.

Ah, thanks. Yes, the fedora definitely suggests that it is Ventriloquist with Scarface. But yeah, we wont know if they will actually make him until we get some official info about the next wave of sets.

Can anyone get a picture of this "bald old man" from the comic so that we can clear up this confusion?

That would be neat. I would buy the heck out of a minions battle pack. The minions are gonna be hard to pull off as minifigs, though, due to their pill-shape. In fact, all the characters would need new head molds, much like the Simpsons and Toy Story. We'll see how this turns out, if it is true. Also, correct me if I'm wrong, this would be the first non-Disney animated movie to get System sets (not counting The Clone Wars).

Aren't you forgetting a few? In DC there has been Batgirl's cowl, Flash's cowl, Zod's armor and gun, and Wonder Woman's hair and lasso, and in Marvel there was Mjolnir, Cap's shield, Hulk, Green Goblin, MODOK, Wolverine's claws and mask, Magneto's helmet, Nova's helmet, and all the new head pieces and weapons in GotG. So yeah, I wouldn't exactly say SH hasn't had many new molds. I agree, the bald guy could be Ventriloquist, but even if they use a microfig as Scarface, they would still have to make a new mold for his fedora. Or it could be Hugo Strange if he wasn't carrying a puppet, which is more likely I think. He could be included in a set with his lab, Batman, and maybe Green Lantern. Either way, I'm intrigued. However, I would take these "hints" with a grain of salt since the Lego Club Magazine comics aren't always a sign of things to come. For instance, I highly doubt they would make a fig of Uncle Ben or Flash Thompson as a bigfig.

Thanks. Well, I guess they can't all be winners. Nightwing and Faora both have the same hair and wear black suits with their logo on it, so I thought they look fairly similar, but maybe it's just me.

Yeah, that's one of the reasons why those kind of funnies aren't that popular, so I'm trying not to make too many of those. I hope these new ones will be easier to get. I'm not sure if the first one counts as a licensed funny, but here it goes: Curiosity Killed the Cat by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Wrong Emmet by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Faora-wing by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

LEGO Frozen anyone? (Expand the Disney Princess line)
Oky replied to smittyfan's topic in LEGO Licensed
As I've already said in the Disney Princess thread, I think it's because Anna and Elsa aren't officially part of the Disney Princess line yet. Once Disney adds them to the lineup, I'm sure we'll get Frozen sets, but they'll probably not be as good as this project (which I also already posted), so it's definitely still worth supporting. -
It's been five months since that movie came out. It's even been out on DVD for over a month. If they had the license, they would have had plenty of time to produce some sets to release in the summer wave. They didn't get the license when the movie was released for some reason and now it wouldn't be as profitable anymore to get it, so I think they're just waiting until they can release the sets under the Disney Princess license so that they don't have to buy another license to do so. It makes sense from a business point of view, especially if they can release them during the winter wave (you know, because of the season and all).

I don't think there's any doubt at this point that Frozen is a hit. Don't you think TLG would have capitalized on that by now if there wasn't some kind of licensing issue? The license that TLG currently holds is for the Disney Princess brand, so I'm pretty sure they are limited to the eleven princesses that are currently within that brand (along with their respective princes and animal companions). So until Anna and Elsa join the lineup I don't think they can release sets based on Frozen within this theme.
-
Yes, Elsa is a queen at the end of the film. I don't think Meg and Esmeralda were ever part of the lineup. As far as I know, only Tinkerbell was ever a temporary member. However, they did bend the rules for Mulan quite a bit who isn't a princess in any way, so Elsa shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

I was very happy to see Pythor again! He's my favorite character and I knew he couldn't be dead, so I'm very glad they brought him back, even though he's serving the Overlord now rather than himself. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some sort of ulterior motif though. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking too, especially since Garmadon is teaching Lloyd not to rely on his golden power so much which will obviously help him in the final battle.

I think the reason why there haven't been any Frozen sets yet is because Elsa and Anna aren't part of the Disney Princess brand yet. If they would have made Frozen sets, it probably would have required a separate license. I think TLG is waiting for Disney to officially announce Elsa and Anna to be the twelfth and thirteenth Disney princesses, which will probably happen sometime this year. Once that happens, there should be nothing standing in the way of Frozen sets.

Thanks! Do you mean the Panda Guy? He was one of the Master Builders and was seen a couple of times in the Cloud Cuckoo Land scene. Here is his biography. If you mean the Scout Trooper, he wasn't in the movie, that's just me drawing comparisons.
