  1. I just noticed that the Bat-Mech is about the same size as Luthor's, which is good if you want to have the two fight each other. Ah, good to know I'm not the only one geeking out about that image. I'd say almost definitely. Martian Manhunter will probably be the same as the one in the game as well, which explains why he looks different from the promo fig. That promo fig seems kinda pointless now that we're getting him in a regular set. Oh well. It's also a bit disappointing that Aquaman seems like he'll be exactly the same as the one we've already gotten, but who cares about Aquaman anyway.
  2. Oh my! So many new characters, so much nostalgia of the Justice League cartoon! These are just prelims and I already love every single one of these sets! This wave is exactly what I had hoped for when the DC Super Heroes theme was first announced and it definitely makes up for all the lackluster Batman sets of late. Honestly, I don't even know how they could ever top this wave. All of the JL's most important heroes, villains, and vehicles are all right here. If this was the last DC wave, I'd be perfectly fine with it. However, I do hope they keep going and make more sets like these. They may not be perfect, but compared to most of the previous sets in this theme, any complaints one might have with these are just nitpicks. Can't wait to get them! By the way, am I the only one who wouldn't mind if Superman was fighting the Hulk in the final set? (Just kidding, I want my Darkseid bigfig! )
  3. That would be quite odd if they made two games about color coded ninjas in one year. Yeah, I think this is the most likely game we're going to see, more so than SW Rebels. Except for TLM, they have never done a game based on just one movie, so I think they will wait until they have at least two movies to base it on.
  4. I believe the second entry is also using some non-existing parts/color combos.
  5. Thanks! If that entry wasn't manly enough for you, here's one for the boys: The Bat-Exo-Suit! Originally, this exo suit was developed by Wayne Technologies for space exploration, but with the help of Lucius Fox, Bruce Wayne turned it into the Bat-Exo-Suit in order to be able to fight larger-than-life villains. It features reinforced armor plating, unbreakable bat-claws, and a winged jetpack. 6. I am O-ky, English-German relations - From Brickdoctor for translating all of Markus' answers in the latest Eurobricks Star Wars Forum Blog Interview. A clever play on C-3PO's typical line.
  7. Oh man, if that's a Batman Beyond DLC and exclusive to PS4, I'm gonna be so mad... By the way, has there been any official word from Gamestop that they will have the Plastic Man promo in the US? I still don't see anything about it on their website.
  8. INTERVIEW: markus1984 Today we're interviewing Markus, a talented builder from Austria and the winner of FBTB's recent Steam Wars contest. EBSWB: So, how did you first get introduced to LEGO, and why is the Star Wars theme your primary interest? Lego and Star Wars have been very dear to me even since my childhood! My love for Star Wars persists to this day. Lego has always been THE toy for me! It is and has always been the best and most creative toy in my opinion, where one's imagination really gets stimulated and one can let his creativity run free in any theme you want. Naturally, I recreated all kinds of Star Wars vehicles during that time (since official Star Wars sets didn't exist yet back then) in order to be able to play out the battles from the movies using Lego. Thanks to my nephew, I returned to the Lego hobby four years ago (after about 16 years of Dark Ages) and after seeing all the Lego Star Wars sets that you can get these days, I couldn't help but start collecting the UCS models, which then lead to MOCing. EBSWB: We know that you are also a member over at Imperium der Steine. How did you discover EB, and what made you decide to join? You guys know everything, don't you. Yes, in the German-speaking community, IDS is the best forum when it comes to Lego Star Wars MOC's, info, etc. (and other themes). Eurobricks was the second site after Flickr where I registered. I came upon it through various MOC searches on the web which kept taking me to EB, so as a beginner, I had no choice but to join the forum. EBSWB: You have built many detailed MOCs and some of them were even featured in the Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary! How did you get this honor and how did it make you feel? Definitely one of the greatest honors that I have received to date! I still remember buying the first issue and wondering how one manages to get his MOC into a book like that. When I received the message from DK in December, my first response was if this was a joke! But the nice lady soon confirmed the legitimacy of the matter. I then simply sent her the files. Of course, I had to ask why they chose me since there is an incredible amount of great MOC's out there, some of which were surely better than mine. The answer that Lego had seen my MOC's and wanted to have them in the book was, of course, totally awesome!! The fact that there is now an official Lego book that is available for purchase worldwide and depicts my own work makes me speechless, but also very proud. EBSWB: Where do you get the inspiration and parts for your MOCs? Do you plan them in advance? Inspiration, phew. From everywhere actually! Various forums, movies, real-life, imagination, and of course also from other users. With Star Wars, I usually try to recreate certain scenes from the movies (EP IV-VI only! ) in ways that have never been seen before. Which is a big challenge since all the major scenes have already been done in many different variations over the years, so it is my goal to build them in a way that hasn't been seen numerous times before. 75% of my parts have been bought through Bricklink, some of them from the Lego Shops in Legoland, and a small percentage from my childhood and from all the sets that I treat myself to every now and then. I usually don't plan my MOC's. When I want to build something, I just start building or watch a specific scene over and over until I've registrated and memorized every detail. Whenever I run out of parts, I just order new ones. EBSWB: Are there any particular MOCs that you are currently working on or that you would love to build someday? Last month I was actually just busy disassembling and sorting all the MOC's that I took to the Star Wars Days exhibit at Legoland. Otherwise I just build small stuff for SoNE and other contests at the moment. Well, the dream MOC's that I've always wanted to build are definitely a large Hoth diorama and the Emperor's Arrival. But it's going to take a while until I have gathered all the necessary white parts and minifigures. To top Hoth is going to be virtually impossible as there are already about four impressive works based on this epic battle, but that's not so important to me since it's one of my absolute favorite battles from Star Wars and I simply HAVE to build it. EBSWB: Why did you join SoNE, and why the Empire? I wanted to join SoNE from the beginning, but somehow didn't have the time or motivation at the time. The main problem was that the stories were written in English, and while I can read and write reasonably well, writing a complex story in English seemed a bit too difficult, especially since all the translators start spitting out nonsense after more than two sentences. But eventually I got into SoNE thanks to Disco86. We had communicated a lot through IDS and collaborated on various projects such as the B-Tron reunion. He said he wanted a change from Castle and was going to build Star Wars now by participating in SoNE at EB. After a lengthy conversation in the chat, we decided to sign up and make a sort of cooperative project out of it, and I have to say that it's a lot of fun coming up with the story and taking turns. Well, even though the Rebels are the good guys and it's always good to see them win in the end, the Empire is just the Empire. Great vehicles, sinister, dark, and the Stormtroopers are definitely the most brilliant combat unit in the history of films. Therefore, it was clear for which side I was going to build. EBSWB: What's the most difficult thing you've ever tried to build? There are quite a few things. My first MOC was a recreation of Anio's Super Star Destroyer. I found it while browsing the web and was fascinated by that ship and its size. The problem was that back then I had no clue about "modern" Lego and the techniques that were possible with it. Because of this, it was one of the most difficult builds for me. There was also the Death Star Diorama and the Carbon Freeze Chamber. In both cases I was faced with the callenge of building a large round opening, and especially with the Freeze Chamber I racked my brain about how to make it as authentic as possible. EBSWB: Being such a talented builder, are there any builders that you look up to? Thank you very much! Phew, that's a tough question to answer. Very, very many. I'd have to make a list of all the builders that fascinate me. Basically, every build and its builder are admirable! Everyone works with the same bricks, but everyone uses their own style and techniques, so when you're looking at the newly posted MOC's, all you can say is WOW. EBSWB: How much time do you spend on LEGO, and what do other people who aren't LEGO fans think of your hobby? It depends: often I just need to take a break for a few days, but it's usually about two hours a day. At first it seemed quite odd and I tried to keep it as secret as possible, but after my first exhibit and various feedback from forums it got exponentially better and now I fully admit to it. Even though people still give me a weary smile from time to time, I know that I have a hobby that most people wish they had. I don't think there are many that can say that they have a hobby that they wholeheartedly love to do and I am very proud to have found something so fulfilling and also relaxing. EBSWB: How has the LEGO hobby changed or impacted your life? Do you have any practical uses for LEGO? Well, in a way it has changed my whole attitude towards life. It gives me a passion that I can fully indulge in and that is a lot of fun. I believe this is something that's extremely important to have in our modern stress- and pressure-filled everyday life. EBSWB: Other than LEGO, do you have any other hobbies? Haha, yes, a lot of them actually. I am often asked if I even have a girlfriend or a job since it seems like I spend my whole day building, but yeah, I even got married in the meantime. I have been doing external work for a long time and aside from building with Lego, I also like to watch and play soccer. In summer, I also like to play beach volleyball, in addition to the usual workout routine (walk, go to the gym, etc.). Furthermore, films and music are a big passion of mine and hitting it off with friends mustn't be neglected either. I often ask myself how it all works out. I would like to thank you very much! This has been a lot of fun and it was an honor to be able to give this interview. *All answers translated from German by Oky
  9. Hehe, good ones, Dorayaki! I understand your confusion. The first one is referring to the fact that that Friends character's name is also Maggie, so when Marge is looking for her baby, Ms. Stevens thinks she means her. It's a somewhat obscure reference and especially hard to get since the actual Maggie Stevens doll isn't used. The third one is unfortunately a bit hard to understand due to the broken English. Basically, Rocket is mad that Wiley is wearing a raccoon skin cap.
  10. Well, if Rebels turns out to be as popular as CW, I'd say it's likely, although personally I'd prefer if they don't make it. I'm kind of tired of Lego Star Wars games and I can't think of anything new they could add to the gameplay except the open worlds and dialogs from recent games. LSW3 came out when the third season ended, so even if they do make it, it will probably be a while until we get it. I'd prefer if they explored a new license in the next game. I really hope they make a TMNT game at some point with unlockable characters from all incarnations of the turtles and hopefully a 4-player co-op. However, here are my predictions for the next few years: 2015 - Jurassic World 2016 - a game based on the Ninjago movie 2017 - The Lego Movie 2: The Videogame A sequel to Lego Marvel is likely, too, I think.
  11. Yeah, I'm surprised too. While I am very happy that the show returns so soon, it's sad to see how Nick is treating their best show. Also, this means that the show will be over sooner than later. Oh well, I look forward to seeing how they wrap everything up.
  12. This contest is all about dressing up the Exo Suit like a doll. And who is better at dressing up dolls than the Lego Friends! This is an Exo Suit that Olivia invented to move heavy things around in her workshop and to explore treacherous terrain such as the jungle. After all, she wouldn't want to break a nail! Featuring flower details, rose-red nail polish, and high heals, it can not only perform great physical feats, but also look fabulous while doing it. It even has a rocket with Butterfly wings on its back for some limited flight capability. It's Eco-friendly too, as it runs purely on the power of friendship! The only thing Olivia is concerned about is that this suit makes her look fat. 13. That's alright, thanks.
  14. So I'm guessing no answer means it's allowed?
  15. Well... he doesn't have a family, so he wouldn't know... yeah, let's go with that.
  16. As Tolkien explained, since Maggie is the first Lego baby, Emmet doesn't know what a baby is and naturally assumed she was a dwarf. So to Marge, he may seem like an insensitive jerk, but in reality, he just doesn't know any better. Well, the Simpsons did exist in The Lego Movie (Millhouse was one of the Master Builders), but remember that all the themes were cut off from each other and Emmet didn't even know that the other themes existed, so this is what might happen when he meets the other Simpsons minifigs after the events of the movie. Haha! Nah, it's fine because these are all Elseworld scenarios.
  17. Ok, thanks. Are digital backgrounds allowed?
  18. Hehe, good one, Dorayaki! I have some more too: Hero Circles by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Phoenix Love by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Yellow Dwarf by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  19. That's awesome (but then again, everything is awesome )! I'm glad I could help. Good luck with this project!
  20. Hm... Well, these posters aren't quite as cropped at the top, but they are more cropped on the sides. Maybe you can edit the landscape and portrait format versions together to make a more complete picture? Other than that, I don't think there is any more complete versions of those particular images, sorry. May I ask what you need these for?
  21. The Korra finale was indeed very good, although not great in my opinion. There was some good action and the end was very bitter sweet. However, I felt it was a bit too predictable. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when the part where Zaheer turns into Amon for a moment turned out to be an illusion. It would have made no sense of course if it wasn't, but it would have been a great plot twist in my opinion, mainly because Amon is still the best villain this show has had so far and it would have been great to have him return, but oh well. Also, this finale opened up more questions than it answered. There are some plots that were never followed up on, such as the spirits settling into the human world and Republic City's vine problem. The spirits did show up here and there to help the protagonists, but for the most part you forgot that they were even there. And there are other open questions too, like how the heck did the harmonic convergence cause random people to get airbending powers? Is Toph ever going to show up? And most importantly, when are Zuko and his dragon finally going to do something interesting? But these are all just nitpicks of course and will probably get answered in the next season. There was still a lot to like here, like the outstanding animation, and I do look forward to the next (and quite possibly last) season. Here is a video showing the Korra stars and creators talk about the videogame, the Book 3 finale, and a tiny bit about Book 4: http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/08/25/the-legend-of-korra-game-release-date-and-new-mode-plus-what-to-expect-in-book-4?abthid=53fb73353ca053475c000012&vcs=social_20140827_30517306
  22. You can find some great pictures of most of the main characters here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=92486entry1827211 The only main characters that are missing are Batman and regular Unikitty. This may seem like a shameless plug (because it is ), but I have some great pictures of all the versions of pink Unikitty in my recent review of the SDCC exclusive. As for Batman, I'm sure you can find lots of good pictures of him. Here are two I found:
  23. Thanks! I hope you can get off your lazy butt and finish it. Thanks. I did get challenged (see the video I quoted) hence why I made it.
  24. Thanks for another great review, Fangy! One question: Does the Spooky Girl glow in the dark? That would be neat. This series is not bad, although nothing really stands out for me, except the Piggy Guy. Gotta love that adorable head. Also, is there ever going to be another CMFs contest again? I miss them as they were always a lot of fun.
  25. Sweet contest/challenge! Like others, I am glad that digital entries are allowed since I don't have the right parts to recreate the frame. Are digital decals allowed too? And does the rule that it should only have the Exo Suit mean that it shouldn't have a pilot?
