  1. Looks like the Juniors Batman to me.
  2. Haha, nice! I especially like the Octan and mermaid ones. Happy St. Patrick's Day! And remember... Smash Patrick's Day by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr The Luck of the Turtle-ish by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Manhunt on the Manhunter by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  3. No problem. House Party Protocol is what Tony said when he called all the suits to him. I've been waiting for them to release a MM fig ever since the Super Heroes license was announced (since he's one of my favorites), but I only thought of this pun after it was announced that we would finally actually get one.
  4. Thanks! To understand the last two you'll have to have seen Iron Man 3 and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. And yes, the head is from the POTC cook / Endor Rebel.
  5. Thanks guys! Here are some more. First, a little pun: Indiana J'onzz by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr House Party Protocol by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Magical Place by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  6. Indeed she does. Madame Webb & Arachne by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  7. Yeah, I think we all would love a return of Adventurers in some form. And no, Jake Raines is not a descendant of Johnny Thunder, but Josh Thunder from the Dino theme is. I don't see why Johnny couldn't be Jake's mentor though. They could put him in one or two sets and say that he's the one that Jake learned everything about adventuring from. And if Lord Sinister is the villain, they would have to include him because reviving Sinister without reviving Johnny would be a sin! He probably wouldn't be much older than he was in the Adventurers theme, though, because according to the official stories, Adventurers takes place in 1910 and Pharaoh's Quest is set in 1924.
  8. Didn't you just suggest this on the last page? Sounds more like an elaborate fanfic than a theme to me. I don't think TLG would ever create such a detailed backstory for a theme or mix existing themes like that (outside of TLM sets). Also, Knights Kingdom wasn't very popular and I'm not sure how well castle and sci-fi elements would mesh. Not saying it's a bad idea, it's pretty interesting actually, it's just not very plausible as an actual theme.
  9. Interesting idea making purist TLM minifigs, but except for Batman (who needs one of these in black on his head IMO), none of them belong under "Super Heroes". Also, looks like Benny is working for the Dark Side a.k.a. Octan now.
  10. Well, Frozen won 2 Oscars last night, so TLG would be silly not to produce at least one set based on it, but either way, this project totally needs to get 10.000 supporters fast!
  11. Please, guys, let's not spoil the movie for the few of us who haven't seen it yet! If you have to say something about the ending of the movie, please put it in spoiler tags.
  12. Thanks! You're right, the mistaken identity jokes are getting a bit old. Unfortunately I don't have as many ideas for new jokes anymore as I used to, plus I can't afford many expensive sets at the moment, but I'll try to keep it fresh as long as I can. 14. Thank you! I will have some new pictures for that series soon! Indeed! Nice work. Here are some funnies based on the Lego Movie: Glued Magnets by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Moonpops by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr El Macho by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr
  15. Good idea! Yes, that should work nicely. I'd say either Harry Potter or old Exo Force Nighting hair.
  16. Happy Valentines Day! 17. They already have. The city in the movie is called Bricksburg and the city in Ninjago is literally called Ninjago City. Yeah, that's kinda what I meant to say earlier. This makes sense, and now that I think about it, there were indeed no non-minifigure characters aside from a few animals and brick-built characters such as Unikitty. I don't even remember seeing R2-D2 on the Millennium Falcon, even though C-3PO was there. Just another sign of how well-crafted this movie is! Agreed, I don't think that's any indication that Octan is evil or turns evil in the future, it's just a harmless reference. I don't think the screen time of a theme has anything to do with with how successful it is or how much potential it has. It's about making the characters recognizable like Faefrost said. There is a heavy focus on classic themes because that's what people grew up with. Minifigures from modern themes are only in there as small references for today's Lego fans. And I don't think time was a factor since very recent minifigs such as Michelangelo, the Flash, and the CMF Yeti made it into the movie, so if they wanted to include Friends, I'm pretty sure they could have. In fact, as I said before, they did include one of the Friends dolphins which just came out last summer, and by that time Friends had already proven itself, so that can't be the reason. If anything, it might have something to do with the controversy surrounding Friends and with the film makers not wanting to risk anything by including minidolls, but I think the main reason is the style difference that Faefrost mentioned.
  18. Ah, thanks, I forgot about that. It seems that the movie (much like TLG themselves apparently) dismiss Friends as just another non-minifig theme. I guess you could see that as demeaning towards Friends, but I think it's just them acknowledging the fact that Friends has its own kind of style and therefore must exist in a different world, so I'm okay with that. But that's a discussion for another thread. Speed Racer's inclusion in that list was obviously catharsis on WB's part, much like the running joke with Green Lantern. I guess you're right, but that was not my main point. My point was that the world that is depicted in the movie does not represent the world that TLG has created with their original themes. Octan is not an evil megacorporation, the Green Ninja is not part of a group of master builders living in the clouds, Batman is not a jerk living in Bricksburg, etc. All these things only happen in the Lego movie, which while it resembles the official Lego universe, is not really part of it and therefore doesn't affect the "main canon" (unless my theory about it being a movie within the Lego universe is correct, in which case it still wouldn't affect the canon). Yes, the movie is obviously canon for the sets based on it, but the question is whether it is canon for the other themes that appear in the movie or not. The way I see it is that the Lego Movie sets exist in an alternate universe, a sort of "what if all themes would exist in the same world" scenario, much like how all other licensed themes are meant to exist in their own world, whereas in the "real" Lego universe all themes are separate and only connected in specific ways. This is the second time you've linked to that essay in this thread and my response is still the same. In that essay, the point that McDuffie is trying to make is that "obsessive, cross-series continuity is silly", to which I can only say: Duh! Any kind of obsession is by definition irrational and bad. But even he admits that these things are fun to think about, so what's the harm if it's just done for fun? I don't think that any of us are really obsessing over this; it's just a fun conversation about entertaining the idea of a unified Lego canon, as silly as it might seem to you, so please don't try to spoil our fun. Agreed, that is indeed surprising since it dumbs down the story of the movie so much, but I guess it's good that the ending wasn't spoiled and it's probably enough to entertain the kiddies (which is the only purpose of those novels anyway). Well, there seems to be a sequel already in the works, so I don't think fans of the movie will have to wait very long to hear more from Emmet & friends. Plus I still think that a TV show set in the world of TLM is very possible as well.
  19. Very true. Indeed, although in my initial theory I thought that the movie in the Lego world would be directed by minifigs, not the actual human directors of the real movie which is kind of a weird concept, but oh well. And yes, I also found that some of the best jokes were in the promotional videos, although the ones in the movie were pretty good as well. To answer your question: No. Well, if it makes you feel any better, I did spot at least one Friends dolphin in the Cloud Cuckooland sequence, and we know that Heartlake City does exist in this world, even if it's only mentioned on a sign and not actually shown. Seems like a very wife thing to say. Luckily I was spared of such comments from my friend who I went to see the movie with, although maybe it's just because he was tired. Besides...
  20. I would prefer it if we don't split up the SH discussion thread, mainly due to the inevitable repeat of discussions. While I don't mind the current banner, a new one that perhaps includes more than one theme would be nice. The one thing that I would really like to see, though, is the forum description update. We've been asking for it for over 2 years now and we have yet to see any progress on this. It may seem unimportant, but I really think it would help keeping the forum more organized by giving newbies a better idea of what qualifies as a licensed theme. That way we wont get so many unrelated topics in the forum, which would mean less work for the mods moving threads around. I know it's difficult to make a comprehensive, yet concise description of all licensed themes, but there has been some pretty good suggestions for an updated description in the thread that Blondie-Wan linked to, any of which would be better than what we have now. So I hope you will come to a decision soon and replace the old description. I know you said you are working on it, so I'm not going to press this matter any further; I just wanted to express my thoughts on it.
  21. Indeed. Even though I had a feeling that the movie might go in that direction, I didn't think it would, but boy was I wrong. And yes, it was brilliant. It almost made me feel silly for ever trying to figure out what the "official canon" might be, but the way I see it, these conversations are just fun little exercises in putting different puzzle pieces together. In reality, I couldn't care less what the official canon is, if there is one. I have created my own idea of how the Lego universe works (as I should, according to the movie) and I would never let any official material tell me what can or cannot happen in my Lego stories. I only use them as inspiration. That, I think, is the whole point of Lego's official stories. Oh, and I'm sticking to my theory that the Lego Movie is a movie within the Lego universe, whether they are aware that they are toys or not (which they probably are to a certain extent), especially after the release of this press-exclusive promotional set which depicts the characters from the movie sitting in a theater watching the movie.
  22. Do you guys think AMC will be giving out the Robo DJ at the premiere tonight? I know it specifically says February 7-9 and it's technically still the 6th, but I don't see why they wouldn't start tonight. I am planning to go see it at 11 pm and it would be a shame if I was denied my exclusive minifig just because I am going to see it an hour early. It was also spotted in a Making Of video of the movie about a week ago. According to the Lego store calendar, it will be announced and made available to buy for VIP Members on February 17.
  23. I got mine too. Thanks CopMike!
  24. Got mine as well. Thanks again!
