Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Oky replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
Does anyone think we might see Black Panther in a set soon? The new Batman cowl would be perfect for him and is very similar to the one he had in the videogame: -

Not sure if anyone is interested, but apparently there's going to be a Lego Duplo animated short film featuring Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Sunday. I like how it has that semi-brickfilm style that The Lego Movie had. Is this the first Duplo TV special? http://youtu.be/YZmWZWVDwXg

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham (Video Game Discussion)
Oky replied to The Joker1's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Kinda off topic, but I doubt it. All the other characters (including Captain Cold) use old designs from LB2 or from this year's sets rather than next year's, so why would there be one fig that has a design from a set we haven't even heard of yet? I'd love it if we get an Alfred like that someday though. -
Man, Korra is getting better and better! Last night's episode with Toph was great and I can't wait for the next! As for TMNT, I'm getting a bit tired of all the horror movie parodies. It just feels like filler at this point and last night's episode opened up more questions than it answered any. I hope Leo heals soon so that they can leave April's farm and return to NYC. I caught it on TV last night and I pretty much agree with your thoughts.

Yeah, I know this seems more likely, but I wouldn't rule my theory out. You have a good point there. While we don't know for sure that these were made after that movie got pushed back, that would make sense since TLG needed some DC sets to release this year, so maybe they decided to just base them all on the videogame.
-
Probably not, but that's not what I meant. I mean these could have been semii-tie-in set like the Electro, X-men, and Hydra sets this year, i.e. comic-based sets that cash in on the release of a popular movie without being directly based on it. While it would have been easier for them to get the license for the Justice League movie than for ASM2 or DOFP, I think it's still possible they would have made sets like this.
-
I would absolutely love a Batman Beyond set, but while it was fairly mainstream, it's probably too old and obscure to get a set now. On a side note, I was thinking about what might have inspired TLG to finally make an entire wave based on the Justice League recently and I had an interesting thought: Could these have been intended as a tie-in with the Justice League movie that was originally planned to be released next year? I know that sets that are actually based on the movie would make more sense, but this would explain why they changed it up so much in this wave. We know that sets are designed years ahead of production, so they could have started planning them as soon as the movie was announced. Just some food for thought.

I think the obvious answer would be to start by building a castle. Either use one of the official castles (from Castle, LotR, or maybe even the Vampyre Castle if you can still find it) or build your own. Then put a throne, some traps, and a big lab inside of it, and BAM, you got a doom castle.

Yay! Thanks for all the votes and congrats to the other winners! Also, thanks to Bob for hosting this fun challenge and a huge thanks to the ever-generous CopMike for offering the awesome prizes (the fact that one of the minifigs is a green CS Spaceman is very fitting)! And lastly, special thanks to Peter Reid for the Exo Suit design and to just2good for giving me feedback during the creation of my entries. Then why are there four entries in the list?

Oh no... This doesn't look good. I never fully got into the storyline of Bionicle, although I did watch all the movies, but even I can tell that this is not going to be as good as the original. Making colorful flash-animated webisodes instead of well-crafted CG movies takes away all the "grunge" and realism that the original Bionicle had. And judging by the childish character bios, this reboot seems to be indeed aimed at the same target audience as Mixels and Chima. I fear this may be even worse than Hero Factory. Where can we see the teaser?

Then why post at all? This adds nothing to the discussion. If you feels so strongly about it, at least tell us why you think it's so bad. Honestly, for what it is, the show is alright. It's good to see that it doesn't make so many pointless references as it did in the pilot anymore, although we do still get the occasional unneeded Riddler cameo. Penguin is getting more and more delightfully psychotic and it's nice that we're starting to see the first attempts at vigilantism/super-villainy from Gotham's citizens, which goes against the common conception that Batman's villains were created because of Batman's existence. Instead, they are created because of how incredibly corrupt Gotham is, much like how Batman himself was, which I like. That way it doesn't seem like Bruce actually made things worse by becoming Batman and it justifies him becoming a vigilante even more. The Flash premiere was pretty good too. It was pretty much what I expected, although I was hoping for the show to have a bit more humor as I'm used to from the Flash instead of some of the melodramatic moments. If nothing else, the effects were quite good for a superhero TV show. The "fight" with Weatherman was a bit anticlimactic as well (he was taken down far too easily in my opinion), so I hope the villain fights will improve in the future. The trailer for the rest of the season looked promising, so I look forward to the next episodes.

Ha! That's awesome. I love this show and you did a great job at recreating the characters and vehicle! I like how you incorporated Summer too. Good luck in the contest! Lubaduba-dub-dub!

Lego Batman spinoff will replace The LEGO Movie 2 in 2017
Oky replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
As much as I love Batman, like others, I am not so sure about this. It could be fun, especially with Arnett, Lord, and Miller returning, but as the original article points out, there has already been a Lego Batman movie and at least 3 videogames, so this feels a bit redundant. Also, I am not sure this particular characterization of the Dark Knight is suited for a spinoff. As the Hollywood Reporter says, Batman in TLM was "arrogant, dark, sarcastic and just too-cool-for-this-adventure." In other words, he was unlikeable to a hilarious degree, and while it was funny in TLM, I don't know if a whole movie centered around such an unlikeable character is a good idea. I think I would have rather seen a movie about Unikitty rebuilding her kingdom (but then again, maybe that's the plot of TLM2?). I guess we'll have to wait and see how this turns out. At the very least, this will give them more time to work on TLM2 instead of rushing it out, which is probably a good thing. -

Indeed! Very intriguing. Honestly, it's a little too obvious who the villain for this season is. The previous villains at least had a bit of mystery surrounding them, but Kuvira just seems like a basic power-hungry bully. I hope there's more to her, but we'll have to wait and see. Everything else is pretty good so far, so I look forward to seeing how all this drama pans out. The latest TMNT episodes have been very good as well. Nice and dark, and very reminiscent of the 2003 series. And while Seth Green is doing a decent job voicing Leonardo, it's gonna take some getting used to since his voice is so different from Biggs'. At least they acknowledged and explained the voice change in the show. Also, the finale to Space Dandy was pretty cool too. I'm glad I stuck with it 'til the end.

I see, thanks. Looks like I wont be able to watch it since I have Time Warner which is never supported by those kind of sites. Oh well, I prefer watching it on TV anyway.

Can somebody provide a link? I checked the Disney XD site, but failed to see any full episodes.

Thanks! Well, he's a ghost, so he can probably just float away. Thank you. Good question. According to the Hero's Guide, whether you can see force ghosts or not does depend on how strong you are with the force, but that's not canon anymore, so it's anyone's guess. Perhaps the new movies will shed some light on that.

Wow, that beaver is awful. Looks like a short, muddy yeti with a buckteeth sticker on his chin. He doesn't even have a tail! If they printed the tail on his back, it's gonna be even worse. I could understand the reuse of the Yeti mold if the money went into a tail mold, but this is just lazy. The bears don't look as good as I had hoped either. They look kinda chubby, unlike in the TV show. The rest looks pretty good though, especially the Tribe Packs. Infinitely better than Speedorz.
