The "Show Your Armies" thread: Licensed Themes Edition!
Oky replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks! I guess you're right! I got all of the Toy Story accessories, even the alarm clocks (as you already know), except for the watches. The only Toy Story related Lego products that I don't have are the Duplo sets and the promo bricks. I always kinda wanted the Duplo sets, especially the Pizza Planet Truck, but I never saw them at a decent price. Oh well. Wow, that sounds like quite a collection! Can't wait to see some of it! -
Nice shot, but I think the Egyptian Warrior would have fit much better with that statue. Anyway, here is a picture that didn't make it into my Detective's Office review: Playing Pool by Okay Yaramanoglu, on Flickr

The "Show Your Armies" thread: Licensed Themes Edition!
Oky replied to Blondie-Wan's topic in LEGO Licensed
Great idea for a thread! While licensed themes outside of Star Wars and LotR aren't usually focused on army building, I'm sure some people have impressive armies nonetheless and I would love to see them. To answer your question from the other thread, I don't usually army build. I only buy multiples of a set when I get a good discount on it and I focus on collecting one of each unique fig. However, I did build a small army of LGMs (Little Green Men). It's not as impressive as yours, but here they are: I did cheat a little since six of them are from keychains. The two on the farthest right are the dirty variations. I also have five more of the Alien polybag and one Build-A-Buzz that I haven't opened, so that's six more. Like you, I kinda wish I had more, but this will have to do. One can never have enough of these little guys! I don't have many of the Army Men as I only got two of the Patrol set and one polybag, so I wont bother posting them here. Same goes for my Marvel armies. I only have five Chitauri (two of them generals), four Sakaarans, and three Ultron Sentries. I assume multiples of a main character don't count as an army? Because I'm sure we all have armies of Batmen, Spider-Men, Harry Potters, Indies, Jack Sparrows, Dastans, etc. (Note this picture is fake) Send in the Clones by Okay Yaramanoglu, on Flickr -
Awesome! I love Wheatley! Really wish we would have gotten him instead of the companion cube, but oh well. Not sure about GLaDOS's design. She is nicely detailed, but looks a bit oversized and I'm not sure I like the ribbed look of her shell. Will definitely try to recreate her though! If that's true (which I trust it is) that will be great! More Portal is always a good thing! (As is more BTTF!)

Or maybe they just "forgot" to mention that you will need to buy Chell in order to unlock this level in the first place. EDIT: Sorry for the triple post.

Yeah, that 100th episode was certainly something. I wasn't sure what the hay I was watching half the time, but I loved it. It's hilarious when this show goes insane like this and all the nods to the fandom (which pretty much comprise the entire episode) were great. But yeah, I also have to wonder what the target demographic and their parents must have been thinking during this episode.

Wait, it sounded like they were saying that this level is included in the starter pack... Maybe the level pack will come with test chambers in addition to these 9 that come in the main game? That would be great. That might explain why the wild west Hill Valley seems to be in the main game. Maybe the BTTF level pack includes a level for Hill Valley in 1985 and/or 1955.

Nice! I like what I'm seeing so far. I was hoping the gameplay in the portal level would have been closer to that in the portal games, but I guess that was asking for too much. Also, only 9 test chambers? I know it's just an add-on, but that seems a bit short considering they already breezed through two of them in that short demo. Oh well, still excited for this level pack!

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion

Finally a trailer for the Good Dinosaur! It doesn't show much, but what we do see looks interesting. I'm still not as excited for this as I am for the Inside Out, but who knows, maybe it will be good. It still feels weird to me that we're getting two Pixar movies this year, though I'm not complaining. I just wonder how they're going to include the Pizza Planet truck in this one.- 279 replies

Wow, another great contest! Not sure if I'll have time to enter, but this seems right up my alley! I don't suppose I can just re-enter my entry from the Future of Star Wars contest?

I have created a special comic for this occasion: Again, big thanks to all our readers who made this possible!

Exactly. Once the Portal pack is officially revealed and we do get a poster for her, I'm guessing it will be this artwork of her with some stats along the lines of: Strength: Puzzle solving Weapon: Portal gun Favorite Food: Cake Or: Dislikes: Science / A.I.

I agree wholeheartedly. The Flash is probably my favorite show on TV right now. The season finale was great and there are endless possibilities for the next season(s). It's just so well done and fun to watch, whereas MoS and the rest of the DCCU look drab and wannabe-dark and have countless flaws. I really want to be excited for BvS, JL, and SS, but from everything we have seen so far, I just can't. It just seems like DC is rushing everything too much and going for the wrong kind of tone with these movies. I really hope I'm wrong, but we'll have to wait and see. Legends of Tomorrow looks a lot more like a DC version of The Avengers than what JL is gearing up to be, so at least we can look forward to that.

I gotta say, the AoS season finale was really good. It had lots of action, plenty "holy crap" moments, and great one-liners. It concluded several plot lines nicely and even made me almost feel sorry for Ward. And man, that final scene was terrifying! Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here! And I'm very happy we'll be getting more Agent Carter as well.

Nice! After the disappointing reviews of Tomorrowland, it's good to hear that at least this movie seems to live up to expectations (which are already pretty high for me)! Can't wait to see it!- 279 replies

True. I'm not saying alternate models are meant to be bad, I just think it's understandable when they are not as good as the main model since they are designed using the limited array of parts from the main model. And while I do think these alternate models are more than just meh, they certainly could be better. That polar bear is indeed pretty cool (no pun intended) and during a Google search about this set I found this very impressive alternate model somebody made that can actually transform from a jet into a robot!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone! Mixels ball joints. It's Ultimate Ultron's helmet from the Quinjet City Chase set.

Thanks everyone. I was not aware that this swept-forward wing design existed. Looking at the Sukhoi Su-47, the model does seem to be fairly accurate, but I'm still not fond of the design. Just my personal preference. And yes, the robot is clearly better than the alternate models, but that's to be expected from alternate models.

Wow, thanks for all the votes everyone! I'm honored to have done so well in both categories, even if I'm only eligible for one prize. And thanks to Bob for organizing another great contest. It was a lot of fun working on my entries and seeing what everyone else came up with! And special thanks to just2good for inviting me to team up with him and who was great collaborating with! Arrr me hearties yo ho!

LEGO Dimensions Physical Brick Discussion
Oky replied to Transparency for Effect's topic in LEGO Licensed
This is a triumph! I'm making a note here: huge success! It's hard to overstate my satisfaction! Portal gun! I was afraid it would just be a white stud shooter, so it's great to see it's a completely new mold! I guess that's the advantage of getting this as a Dimensions pack instead of a Cuusoo set, that we can get new molds like this. Same goes for the sonic screwdriver. Chell's printing is excellent too! We already guessed the turret, but I'm a little surprised that we got a companion cube instead of a core, although I guess it's more iconic, so I don't mind it at all. I'm also surprised about the TV in the Simpsons pack. It's nice, but what's the in-game use for it? I like some of the other builds too, like the raptor, and the giant sandwich in the Scooby pack is hilarious. I can't wait for the Portal pack. I wish we had a release date for it. And I really hope we will get more Portal sets!- 527 replies
