Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, I certainly hope this is true. Would be great if we finally get those Disney minifigs we've been wanting for so long. And if that's the case, Marvel can't be far behind. If you and your source aren't lying, this would be the most unfortunate time to bring us this news!- 4,155 replies

+1 to K-Nut for being so kind to trade his Xmas Raffle prize with me and sending it very promptly. -
Awesome! I don't mind this change (not that I have any choice apparently ). Way ahead of you. I guess there's only one thing left to say: Mickey Mouse Droid by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

I missed the first episode when it premiered a while back, but I watched it last night. I have yet to watch the second episode, but so far I have to say I'm not a fan. The show has that hyperactive randomness that I tend not to like in modern cartoons. Not that it's a bad show, just not really my taste.

I saw Cinderella recently too. I wasn't really interested, but I got curious after the positive reviews, so I tagged along with my family, and after seeing it, my opinion hasn't changed. It's an almost straight adaptation of the cartoon, just with less songs and some added scenes, which proves that there is no point to these live action remakes other than to make the Mouse some extra cash. But for what it is, it is fairly well made. The cast, cinematography, and production design were all pretty good, so this gives a bit more hope for the upcoming live action Beauty and the Beast, but I still wish Disney would focus more on original films like Tomorrowland. Now THAT's a movie I want to see! As for Frozen Fever, no offense, but if you were looking for a great expansion of the story, characters, and their world, you had way too high expectations for a short film. These are just meant to be amusing little stories to add a bit of extra entertainment before the main feature and rarely add anything meaningful to their original stories. That's what the sequels are for. Granted, the music wasn't the best of the Frozen songs and all the references to the first film did seem a lot like fan service, but I thought it was fine for a short film.

If we make a brick-built parrot like the one on the frontpage, does it count as one of our six characters? I ask because it is a very small character and there are 7 characters on the frontpage if you count the parrot, and TLG usually doesn't count animals as characters either.

THE LEGO REVOLUTION OF CINEMA HAS BEGUN! Seriously though, it does seem a little crazy that they are announcing all these sequels and spinoffs now, but I don't mind it. More Lego on the big screen is always a good thing and I like the sound of the title. I'm picturing a Whacky Races or Rat Race sort of movie in my head, like a Lego Racers movie. And considering who's writing it, there will probably be a lame twist halfway through the movie that the villain is just an actor pretending to be a racer. I don't think TLG has much to do with this; I think WB is to blame. Ever since the end of Harry Potter, they have been desperate for another money making franchise. Hey, here's an idea for a spinoff: The Lego Harry Potter Movie!

LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Simpsons Series 2 Poll
Oky replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Fangy, I think you have the wrong question/answers for the first poll. By the way, are these polls an ambassador thing? Does TLG get the results of these polls and do they consider it when designing future CMFs? -
So, in addition to the exciting announcement of a Tron sequel yesterday, we now also have a less surprising announcement of a Frozen sequel. Like many others, I liked the first one, and now that Elsa has her powers under control (more or less), it will be interesting to see where they take the story from here. Your thoughts? Also, new Inside Out trailer! Oh Joy!

How anyone could find this set underwhelming is beyond me. Ok, so it's not as big as the Simpsons House (why would it be? It's the Kwik-E-Mart!) and it includes some minifigs we have gotten before. So what? It's still an impressive and highly detailed set. And if you're getting a $200 set just for the minifigs, you're doing something wrong. It's the same trade-up that we made with the Detective's Office: a smaller exterior for a more detailed interior. I see nothing wrong with that. That said, I wont be getting the set, but I do look forward to some of those CMFs!

Interesting. I'm only a casual fan of Tron, so while I wasn't holding my breath for this one, I do look forward to it. Maybe now we can finally have official Lego Tron sets? Without the Ultra Agents logo on them? Also, any chance they might also revive Tron Uprising? That was the best thing to come out of this franchise in my opinion and I would love to see a conclusion for that series. You think so? I would love to see Jeff Bridges return, but he seemed pretty dead at the end of Legacy to me. Although I suppose it is possible that he created a backup of himself or something... Oh, and I really hope they don't stylize the title as "TR3N".

Yup, that Gravity Falls episode was pretty intense. I find it interesting that one of the fan theories about the identity of the author was actually correct and I can't wait to see the next one! Anyone know when it's gonna air? I hate that they're spreading them out like this. Which questions are you referring to? And where did you hear about a movie? Personally, I think the main mystery of the series is about to be revealed, so there wont be much left to make a movie out of, let alone another season. They could easily keep it going by revealing another big mystery, but I agree with Kalhiki that this feels like the final season. I just hope they wont end it on a cliffhanger. Yeah, it's certainly not as good as the 90's series, although that one had its flaws too. It was too censored (Spidey never threw a punch in that show) and the pacing was a bit off sometimes. My favorite is definitely The Spectacular Spider-Man. If you haven't watched it, I highly recommend you do.

No worries, my post wasn't really directed at you, more towards the exaggerated statements elsewhere on the internet that I have seen that describe it as the worst thing on the planet. Exactly. Teen Titans Go! is a big slap in the face of fans of the original show. It's like the creators are saying: "Hey, remember that show you used to like that never got a proper conclusion? Well, we're bringing it back, but as a brainless, hyperactive comedy without any of the well-crafted plots and character development that you liked about the original". It's as if they had cancelled EMH to replace it with something like the Super Hero Squad Show. That, in my opinion, would have been much worse than Avengers Assemble.
-
Ah, thanks for the clarification! And yes, ball joints are a pain to work with in LDD, but since most of the parts don't exist in the colors I needed, I couldn't build it for real. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would rate my pain a perfect 10.
-
Honestly, I don't get all the hate for Avengers Assemble. Yes, I'm upset that it replaced EMH too, but that's not a reason to call it a bad show. It's definitely flawed and pales in comparison to EMH, but I think it's a serviceable show. It's certainly not good, but it's not the worst thing ever as many make it out to be. At least it's not as insulting to the source material and the viewer's intelligence as other superhero cartoons on TV right now, like Teen Titans Go! or Hulk ATAOS. Particularly the mid-season finale was decent, but I have to admit that I can't help but think how much more epic this storyline would have been in EMH...

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion

Well, we do already have an animated movie about friendship coming out that year. Although I do agree that TS was unique in how it was more about friendship, I think TS4 might work since it wont really be connected to the first three. Where was this official statement? The wiki page you linked to only said that they didn't include her because it wouldn't make sense as part of the story which makes sense to me. I think it's pretty clear that TS is not like TLM where the toys' relationships are just what their owner wants them to be. Buzz and Jessie's relationship and Ken and Barbie's romance developed outside of playtime (although in the case of the latter couple one could argue they were predestined to be together by Mattel). So the toys' relationships are definitely independent from what their owners pretend them to be.- 279 replies

Hi everyone. I don't post much in this forum, although I do dabble in constraction figures from time to time. After I watched Disney's latest animated film Big Hero 6 which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film of 2014 (an award that clearly should have gone to The Lego Movie as we all know) I was inspired to build one of the main characters, Baymax. And since he is a heroic robot with armor plating, it only seemed fitting to build him in a Hero Factory style. Baymax by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Here are some reference images of him: Here are some views of the front and back of him. His torso structure is based on Stormer XL's. Baymax Front by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Baymax Back by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr And here are the same views with his wings spread out: Baymax Front Wings by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Baymax Back Wings by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr An action pose where he is getting ready to fire his fist: Baymax Firing Fist by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr On a scale of one to ten, how would you rate this MOC? This is my first CCBS Moc, so be kind (Honestly, I don't even know what CCBS stands for ). I might try my hand at making a System MOC of Baymax one day. I hope you are satisfied with your care.

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I don't see how that adds anything to the discussion, but pretty cool nonetheless. While it would make for an interesting story element, I doubt that the owners would fall in love, too, since they would probably be kids, unless they are adult toy collectors like Al. Regarding Bo Peep, would you have rather had her shatter and/or go up in flames in the incinerator scene? Honestly, I'm kinda glad Woody never got together with anyone. The main character doesn't always have to "get the girl". Besides, since he's always so obsessed with Andy, he might have other interests.- 279 replies

According to Wikipedia, it premieres March 14. And yes, while it seems to be aimed at a younger audience judging by the previews, I do hope it will live up to the standard of Prime.

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion

Well, I hope this will appease the haters: Toy Story 4 Will Not Continue Original Trilogy's Story, Will Be A Romantic Comedy While I'm a bit sad that we probably wont see the original gang return in this, I'm also kinda glad that the ending of the third one wont be ruined by this. It would have seemed very unlike Pixar to ruin one of their own movies, so I'm glad to hear they never intended to do that. But it's also a bit confusing. I mean, if it is hardly connected to the original Toy Story, why call it Toy Story 4 at all? Maybe the title will still change. What do you think?- 279 replies
