Yay! Speaking of Hasbro, is anyone looking forward to Transformers: Robots In Disguise? Although it's a sequel to TF Prime, it seems to be very different. It has a more kid-friendly look and tone which is a bit discouraging. I've never been a fan of cell-shaded animation, although it doesn't look too bad in this case. It looks like a mix between TF Prime and TF Animated, both visually and tonally. Being a fan of both shows, I hope this will be good.

EB Xmas Raffle 2014 - Your Ideal Christmas Gift entry thread

Sorry, I guess you're sick of questions like that. I was just wondering if I missed something or if I need new glasses. Thank you again so much! I cannot say enough how much I appreciate you doing all this! -
Hm, the only similar thing that I have done was the X-Men crossover, I think.
-
Yes, I'm sure, but maybe someone else did? Thank you!

If you haven't purchased any Super Heroes sets this year yet, then yes, you have. Even though it's been over two months since the super jumpers debuted, TLG still tries to push them as a new play feature, as evidenced on the AoU sets.

You can't download it, but you CAN view it:

EB Xmas Raffle 2014 - Your Ideal Christmas Gift entry thread

Thanks for the update, CopMike! Have you sent mine yet? I don't see myself on that list. No worries if you haven't, I'm just checking. -
Yeah, that may be a bit too obscure, but feel free to make it anyway. I've been toying with that idea actually. I have most of the Time Cruisers sets, but they're all disassembled at the moment. Nice! The first one was also based on one of my funnies, I presume?

Haha, thanks! You're welcome! I like both actually! Looks like no one is spared from the bad puns!

Damn you, I was going to make that Elsa Schneider joke! Oh well, mine is a little different, so I'll post it anyway. Wrong Elsa by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Back to the 80s by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr Catching A Cold by Oky - Space Ranger, on Flickr

How are the designs in Frozen "cheap"? And why do you think the cliches were used badly? I thought it was kind of clever how they poked fun at the cliches and put a different spin on them. But I don't want to start another Frozen flame war. I like me some Stitch too, although I don't think any of the sequels or TV show held up to the original. Well, TLG has a partnership with Disney and we do have Frozen and Cinderella sets. As for DuckTales and Rescue Rangers, I REALLY hope we will get sets for those too! I don't even care if they are Duplo. Besides, this is the Multimedia forum where we can talk about any movies/shows we like.

So, there has been some Disney news lately, so I thought it would be time to start a general Disney discussion thread. The biggest news for me is that there is a new DuckTales series coming in 2017! Official announcement: http://blogs.disney.com/oh-my-disney/2015/02/25/this-is-not-a-drill-were-getting-new-ducktales-in-2017/ DuckTales was my favorite show as a kid, so this is great news for me! I'm glad that a whole new generation of kids will be able to enjoy this awesome show. But at the same time, I'm worried how they will update it. Disney hardly produces any traditional animation for their TV shows anymore, so there is a good chance that it will be CGI like Mickey's Clubhouse and some of their other shows, or even worse, Flash animation like 7D *shudder*. If they put enough effort into it, I think it could actually work in CG. For example, I quite liked Scrooge's rendition in Mickey's Twice Upon a Christmas, but of course traditional animation is always preferred. Also, I really hope they don't change the theme song. It's one of the best and catchiest theme songs ever and I feel that any deviation would ruin it. With this and the live action Chip'n'Dale: Rescue Rangers movie next year, it seems that the Disney Afternoon is making a comeback. What other shows would you like to see return? I'm hoping for Darkwing Duck next (which I'm surprised they haven't brought back yet considering the superhero craze right now). Oh, and we got a trailer for Frozen Fever yesterday. I'm not interested in Cinderella (I don't see the point in making live action versions of Disney cartoons), but I wouldn't mind seeing this short film.

Nice work! So... does this count as an event-exclusive set?

Well, I'm not surprised that Everything Is Awesome lost to the more politically correct choice. But at least it had an awesome performance! Seriously, if you haven't seen it, go check it out on YouTube. I never really cared if it was going to win anyway. And I agree, Big Hero 6 didn't really deserve the Oscar for best animated film. It wasn't bad, but there was just nothing original about it. Dragons 2 was better in every way, not to mention TLM. But since they only voted for whatever was more adorable or most appealing to their kids...

Pixar Animation Studios and Films Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in Culture & Multimedia
So, this article suggests that the untitled Dia de los Muertos movie might be a musical. How do you guys feel about that? I think it might be interesting to see how Pixar does a musical. On the other hand, we already have Disney to provide us with musicals and Pixar is usually best when they focus on story, characters, and humor, which will be hard to do in a musical. Also, I can't help but wonder if this was their own decision or something mandated by Disney. Personally, I'm still wondering how they're going top The Book of Life which was also a very good animated film centered around the same holiday and was very musical as well. I guess we'll have to wait and see.- 279 replies

Wouldn't it be great if TLG made more Avatar or Korra sets?
Oky replied to Alfadas's topic in LEGO Licensed
Well, for the fans of those shows it would be great, but not so much for TLG since those shows are over and there is not much demand for sets from them. Therefore, the only way we could still get sets from those shows is through Lego Ideas projects (such as my Appa ), so go and support them! -
You could just leave the cannon, replace the net with a translucent 2x2 round brick and pretend it's a plasma cannon or something. However, if you're going to remove the cannon, you could put it on the back as a sort of jetpack like I did on my Bat-Exo-Suit. That would give your Batmech some extra propulsion and take care of the gap on the back. Then you can replace the cannon with some other kind of weapon like those new rapid fire stud and disc shooters or some kind of tool like a drill or a claw, depending on what you want your Batmech to do. Wow, that Vader... actually looks pretty awesome! This is much better than what I feared these would look like after the horrendous Superheroes ones. True, Luke looks a bit odd, but that was to be expected and I think it could have been much worse. The only thing that irks me about these is the high price, but if I see it on sale, I would definitely get that Vader! I hope that his arms have enough articulation under those shoulder pads. The fact that the lightsaber hilts are all the same is also a bit disappointing, but I guess it makes them more versatile. If the rest turn out as good as these, I might have to start collecting these! I know that constraction figures aren't everyone's cup of tea, but I'm also surprised at the amount of hate these are getting. Anyone who is comparing these to Galidor is probably just trolling. I like it when TLG tries something new with the SW license and these look promising to me. I hope they will do well enough that we get another wave with a Stormie, Boba, and C-3PO since they looked great in that CUUSOO project (and I'm surprised they weren't included in the first lineup). Can't wait to see Grievous!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Oky replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
I absolutely love the Ant-Man set! Using oversized bricks, screws, and an ant as set pieces and including regular sized versions of those bricks and ants in the set is brilliant! Plus the minifigs all look great! The only thing that would make it perfect is, as many have said, if they include trophyfigs of the minifigs as well, so I hope the final set includes them. The Spidey sets are very good too. All the figs in the Carnage set are perfect and the vehicle looks cool too. I especially like how they made the rotors. By far the best small Marvel set to date. Green Goblin looks very nice too, although his glider and the rest of that set is kind of crap. I mean, since when does Spidey have a hideout? The Sandman/Rhino set is also very good, although they messed up Iron Spider by giving him that black backpack and I'm not too happy that Rhino is based on the ASM2 version. Sandman looks great, though, and I'm so happy that Spidey finally gets boot printing, and all around his legs too! I wish they would have included these legs in the Juniors set too so that I could use them for Superman. -
Great Scott! How could I forget that! Well, it's a pretty useful part anyway. You could make your own purist Collector or any kind of old man minifig with it.
-
Man, this makes me so happy. The fact that Spidey can join the Avengers, that it's a reboot and not the terribly flawed ASM version, and that it will not be yet another origin story. Seriously, everybody knows who Spidey is, so they can just show a few flashback scenes for the few people who don't and it will be enough. I don't even care if this pushes some movies back. I rather let them take their time with this and do it right than rush it. Sure, Sony still technically owns him, but if they're working with the more talented people over at Disney I'm sure it will turn out well. However, if Spidey is already a superhero in the MCU, I do wonder how they're going to explain his absence in the Battle of New York. Maybe he got his powers right after that?
-
Well, it depends. What do you want to use the parts for? If you need a bunch of curvy purple and magenta parts and Mixels joints, then yes, they are useful. Also, if you don't have these minifigs already, I would keep them. This is the only masked version of Wolverine right now, and Magneto's hair is also exclusive in that color I believe (except for the SDCC Collector minifig). It's not a stupid question, but it is one that only you can answer.

From a Q&A session with Lord & Miller: This is a bit strange since Bricksburg was already a sort of dystopia in the first movie, but perhaps it will be a more straightforward dystopia in this one. Sounds like this movie will indeed be about Finn's Dark Age. Either way, this confirms the first new female character! I wonder what Emmet's sister is like.

Personally, I'm hoping we might get an Eve or maybe Mo to go along with it, but I guess it's unlikely. Depends on the final design and what extras it comes with, but I'm guessing $40-50 like most Ideas sets until now. That would be a neat bonus and would probably only add about 10 pieces, although not really necessary or relevant. Again, this is like a UCS set in that it is at a different scale than minifigs and therefore doesn't have anything to do with them, but just like with UCS sets, there is a chance they might add some as an extra incentive. Who knows. Yeah, I hope he's included too. And while it wasn't part of the original submission, I think a boot with the plant would also be a nice accessory.
