YES! I never watched Dr. Who and as everyone knows, I'm a Pixar fanboy too, so I'm looking forward to this infinitely more than the Who project! There's just so much to love about this set: The compact, yet detailed and accurate design, the fact that it was made by someone who actually worked on the film, and that it isn't just about minifigs like the Dr. Who project seems to be. Also, this will be the fourth Pixar property to get a set. I hope the final design will look as good as the submission and I can't wait to get it!

Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion
Oky replied to CorneliusMurdock's topic in LEGO Licensed
True. I was mainly just thinking of putting them on the balcony, but yes, if you intend to utilize the interior, you'd definitely have to split each floor into at least two or three floors. That would be an interesting mod. -
Marvel Superheroes 2015 Rumors & Discussion

Does anyone else think that the Avengers tower seems to be in roughly the same scale as the Helicarrier? I think the trophyfigs will look great on it (better than the minifigs) and the tower would look very nice on the same display shelf with the Helicarrier. -

True. Hulks pose was perfect for seating him on a toilet. Though I think making their faces not look so constipated would go a long way of fixing this problem. Thanks! I put a bit more effort into those than usual.

I don't get what everyone is so disappointed about either. I mean, what did you expect? A giant minifigure scale model with 50 minifigs? Let's face it, the chances of getting a model as big as that Cuusoo project were very small and the number of people who would actually buy such a behemoth even smaller. Even if they would have made it a little larger than it is now, they still wouldn't have been able to recreate the bridge of the Helicarrier in minifigure scale without it looking crammed or inaccurate. Comparing it to the Death Star isn't fair because the Death Star cost more and was a big playset rather than a UCS set. The only UCS set that I can think of that had a minifigure scale interior was the Executor which also cost more and also only had one small room for the minifigs to stand in. Keep in mind that these UCS sets are primarily for display and that minifigures are just a bonus. I think it looks quite impressive and accurate. The microfigs and micro vehicles are well crafted and add some nice detail to what would otherwise just be an empty runway. I didn't expect the rotors to turn simultaneously, so that play feature is a nice surprise, and I actually like that they didn't include any PF which would have made it even more expensive, but give you the option to add some. The only thing that bugs me about the design are the rotors themselves which look more like those seen in Winter Soldier than those in Avengers, but oh well. That minifigure stand with the SHIELD eagle also looks really nice. I gotta admit that the price is a bit high for the amount of pieces you get, and I also would have liked to see Coulson and/or Banner, but UCS sets never come with more than two exclusive minifigs anyway. I definitely want to get it at some point, although I will probably wait for double VIP points days or some other promotion.

LEGO Marvel's Avengers Video Game Discussion
Oky replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Wasn't the first game pretty much already a Lego Avengers game? I just don't see what they could do different in this one other than having a different story and a few more characters from the movies. I would have preferred a direct sequel with another original story and even more characters and locations from the comics rather than limiting it to what we see in the movies, or an entirely new game for a different license altogether. On the other hand, if they do it like LotR and use the voices from the movies, that might actually be an improvement, especially for Iron Man and Nick Fury. I don't think there is enough material in the two Avengers movies to base a whole game on and it would be foolish not to include the MCU GotG, so I'm pretty sure it will include the rest of the MCU as well. I'm hoping for an Agent Carter DLC.- 647 replies

I kinda agree. You can barely tell this is supposed to be a superhero movie, let alone a Fantastic Four one. They are making the typical bad superhero movie mistake of muting all the colors and making it too dark and grounded in reality. The last two FF movies weren't very good, but at least they looked more fun and accurate than this. I will try to keep an open mind, but so far the only good thing I can see coming from this movie is a potential comic-based FF Lego set.

Hehe, nice one. For future reference, the thread for special theme funnies is here. It doesn't have the same title since it's also a photography thread, but it's basically the same thing.

Thanks! It's probably those eyes... Well, by "home world" I meant the world she ruled over. That makes me wonder... Is Leia still considered a princess now that she has nothing to rule over? At least Unikitty still has her people.

Lets create a LEGO Scooby Doo Videogame
Oky replied to Cy_Bored1337's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
I'm not saying it couldn't be made, just that it's very hard to pull off. I have yet to see a successful AFOL-made game and somehow I doubt that Lego Scooby-Doo is going to be the first one. That's why I'm saying leave it to someone like TT Games who have the experience, manpower, resources, and (most importantly) license rights for it, but if Cy_Bored 1337 really thinks he can do it, go for it. And yes, Insectoids need to be included! -
Thank you! Yes, three in fact. Their hairs always manage to get into my shots somehow.
-
Thank you very much! And yes, I made a very similar joke four pages ago, but I'm glad you posted it anyway. I guess yours could be a prequel to mine.
-
Thanks guys! Yeah, I made fun of that on the last page. I made the same joke before, but your caption is funnier and actually references a line from the movies. The Hammer Tech pun was new and hilarious though! Thanks! Looking forward to yours! Haha, I love that one! Yours is better because of the reference. I never understood why they didn't use Spalko's hairpiece for her. The Crystal Skull sets came out around the same time and that hair would have been so much more accurate.

Lets create a LEGO Scooby Doo Videogame
Oky replied to Cy_Bored1337's topic in LEGO Media and Gaming
Okay, hold on. First off, I don't think just because there will be a TV special and maybe some D2V movies to promote these sets means that the theme will "last really long". Second, what do you mean by "make a custom videogame? If by "custom" you mean "imaginary" and just want to speculate what a potential Lego Scooby-Doo game might include, you might want to rephrase that. Or are you actually planning to make a videogame? If so, I think that's overly ambitious and is better left up for TT Games to do. And lastly, I think this belongs in the Multimedia forum. Sorry if this sounds overly critical. I have nothing against the idea of a Lego Scooby-Doo game. I actually think it's a fun idea, I just think that this thread is misleading and in the wrong place. That said, I would start by adding the monsters, vehicles, and locations from the official sets to your list. Also, maybe there could be Batman-style variations of the main characters with different abilities such as Scuba-suits, Space-suits, disguises, etc. And speaking of Batman, how about adding some characters from the various Scooby-Doo crossover specials? -
Lego and SimCity....could it ever happen or work out well?
Oky replied to TheLegoPerson9's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Isn't that pretty much what Lego Fusion Town Master is? It's not the best city-building game (or the best Lego game for that matter), but I think it's the closest we will ever get to a Lego SimCity. -
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Rumors & Discussion
Oky replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh god, there are sequels to this thing?? While some of the builds in the movie sets were better than in the cartoon ones, they also looked more boring and the turtles looked even fuglier than in the movie. I would much rather get more sets based on the TV show. It is currently airing and halfway through the third season. There are still several awesome sets they could make from it such as the new Party Van, the Turtle Blimp, and the Turtle Mech, along with more Kraang vehicles and maybe some brick-built mutants. As for characters, we still need to at least get Casey Jones! Please don't let Michael Bay kill this theme, Lego! -
Hm, that's disappointing about Harley, although that could still change. It's nice to hear that Bats finally gets some boot printing after all this time though. Thanks for the info. Agreed. What do you think are the chances that he might have his Killing Joke outfit?
-
I had no interest in Jokerland when I first heard about it and the villain roster is just as disappointing as I had feared, but the set actually sounds pretty good with the Tim Burton Batmobile, brick-built Joker head, and attractions themed for each villain, and since it includes half of the Teen Titans, it's pretty much a must-have. At least it sounds much better than the funhouse which always looked pretty crappy to me. I hope at least half of the figs are new variants, especially hoping for Harley's New 52 outfit! Yes, it's surprising that Croc doesn't come with the Batboat, but I'm ok with that as I love the fact that this wave seems to have a Teen Titans theme and I much prefer getting Deathstroke. I'm sure we'll get Croc eventually, maybe with a Bathovercraft like last time.

The Korra finale was indeed very good. By the way, are there any Black Dynamite fans here? I didn't like the movie very much, but I really like the animated series. It's like The Boondocks cranked up to 11! The season 2 finale The Wizard of Watts was great, probably the best episode of the series yet. It had everything that makes this show so good: Stylish animation, hilarious satire, lots of puns and references, and great song parodies, the best of which was easily Basehead's "Junkie's Delight". The only part I didn't like was the one with That Frog Kurtis which was just gross. I recommend checking it out.

Haha, good ones, Dorayaki! I especially like the Toy Story one! Although I must admit that I didn't get the Zane one either until Mario explained it. Indeed! Who knows, maybe Unikitty will build a robot army of her own to get revenge on President Business for destroying her home. Hehe, yes, they certainly would look good together!

Thanks again everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I have already stated my reasons. This set was designed to have well-crafted interior details and play features rather than just a big, pretty facade. If you think that's a "waste of space", then the set was obviously not designed for you. To me, the Pet Shop and GG are the ones that are wasting space with all those empty rooms. To each their own I guess. Well, it depends on what you're looking for. If you're into romantic scenes and want your street to have a European feel, go for the Parisian Restaurant. If you're into film noir and want your street to have an American feel, go for the Detective's Office. The Parisian Restaurant has more pieces, but I think that's just because it has a lot of small bits like tiles and flowers and such. They are both around the same size and have about the same amount of detail (although the DO has a lot more play features), so it all depends on what you're looking for in a modular building.
