Awesome! Thanks for that pic! Finally we get a good look at those pilots, and I must say they look pretty sweet. I actually like it that one of them doesn't have a visor. I can use another Starkiller head, and if you want a visor, you can simply get the rebel BP and swap his head with that of the rebel pilot. R4-P17 is looking pretty sweet as well. And I really hope that this will stop the pointless discussions about whether this set is CW-based or not too.

Very good work! Looks very nice and retro. And who knew there would be so much detail on the underside of it! The interior, the vehicles, and pretty much everything looks very well designed. I also like the fly-headed alien. That's exactly what I thought! It looks very similar to Cosmo's Diner from the Buzz Lightyear cartoon! Good luck in the contest!

Because they never really made an Echo Base (not in my book at least). They made a door and some trenches, but never the actual base, and those two things are part of it. Besides, the shield generator wouldn't even have any play feature, except maybe getting "blown up" like the Endor Bunker.
-
Wow! They're MSRP and included in the BOGO half off deal! To TRU!

Thanks for the tip. I played up to level 5 or so and haven't seen anything of interest yet though. Besides, I was more looking for ideas for what kind of rooms and play features you think it should include. I was thinking it could have a ramp for little attack flyers to take off of at the front of the fortress, a big steam engine in the middle, and a tower in the back with a small throne room at the top and maybe some kind of armory/treasure room below. Also, at the front, it could have some small turrets with rapid-fire flick-fire missiles like the ones on the Viking and troll warships. The color scheme of the Steam Empire is black with a little bit of grey and brown, right? And I don't have this piece, so would it be OK if I use this one instead? It's the only other printed red flag I have. Or should I just use an unprinted red flag? Yeah, I was thinking about that too, but at the same time, I wanted her to have that spider look. I don't want her to look too much like Spyclops either, so I think I'll stick with my design.

How so? Looks like one piece to me. If you want to mod it, you'll have to saw parts off, and that'll look . I do hope you're right though. It would be nice if at least the feather piece is removable. But yeah, that Rebel BP looks better every time I look at it too.
-
Thanks, but what kind of combination do you have in mind? Anyway, looks like most of you seem to like the last one the best, and I do too, so I'll just go with that one.

Sorry, I meant "collectable", which is a completely different thing. It means that you are supposed to keep collecting them, and that would be pretty much impossible for people who go to legoland because most people only go there about once a year. That sounds about right, considering that Ras said that they would 2.5 Euros, and US prices are usually numerically equal to Euro prices. And yes, I did mean "badges".
-
So Atlantis is excluded from the BOGO sale, eh? How about other 2010 sets? Btw, S@H US has Pirates Tic Tac Toe and most magnet sets for $9.98, Vintage MF Collection Vol. 1 for $12.48, a bunch of key chains for $2.48, and some other stuff on sale.
-
Yeah, you guys are getting confused. It's the batches that we see in that pic which will be exclusive to Legoland, not the actual minifigs. What good would a collectable series of minifigs be if they were only available to people who go to legoland?
-
Nice pics! Good to see that the Rebel commander has a brown mustache. So, uhm, will these really be out on the 17th? Is that for certain? If good old Ras says so, it must be true!

I think we really need a drooling emoticon like this: Also, I think we should get rid of this emoticon: Every time somebody uses it, it makes the whole post sound very rude, and even gets the poster into trouble sometimes.

Still nothing? Well, in that case, I hope it's OK if I do one more update? I got the Solar Sailer on Black Friday and now have two magnas, a pilot droid, and a third Dooku Bike to add to my army. I will email you the proof pic. Does the Magna Guards' special ability apply to heroes on vehicles too? I.e. if you have a hero on a vehicle and a magna on the same space (whether on the vehicle or not), does that vehicle become invulnerable? If so, I'd like this to be my updated troop positions: MTT: Commander BD, 15 BDs, 6 SBDs AAT: Commander BD, 5 BDs Transport 1: Pilot BD, 3 Rocket Droids (all with snipers), SBD, BD with sniper Transport 2: Pilot BD, 4 BD, BD with sniper Transport 3: Pilot BD, 4 BD, BD with sniper Transport 4: Pilot BD, 4 BD, BD with sniper Com. Transport 1: Magna Guard, Darth Sidious Com. Transport 2: Magna Guard, Gunray Dooku's speederbike 1: Dooku Dooku's speederbike 2: Grievous Dooku's speederbike 3: Assassin Droid Elite (with sniper) Assassin Droid Bike: Assassin Droid Elite with sniper as pilot and a BD as gunner Bloodfin 1: BD with sniper Bloodfin 2: HSBD Bloodfin 3: HSBD Bloodfin 4: HSBD STAP 1: Pilot BD STAP 2: Assassin Droid (with sniper) STAP 3: Assassin Droid (with sniper) STAP 4: Assassin Droid (with sniper) STAP 5: BD with sniper Btw, what about the special ability of Assassin Droids? Does that apply to the vehicle they are piloting?

Holy crap! Those are some awesome minifigs! All except the wrestler, the diver, and the indian are must-haves for me! I can think of a lot of hilarious MOCs one can do with that crash test dummy! The best thing about these is that most of them will be great to have in large numbers, so it wont matter if you get doubles. I can absolutely not wait for these to come out, and I'll be very pissed if they wont be available in the US. I mean, why wouldn't they sell them here? Kids in America are crazy about this kind of collectible things. I have one question though: What exactly will a polybag include? Is it gonna be one complete fig or random parts of some of these figs? For example, will you get a spaceman or, say, a space-cowboy-clown-cheerleader-magician?

I think the BS people might be starting to get things under control. Today, all my images disappeared, but now they're back, and if you go to BS, it shows a different kind of error message. Not sure if it means anything, but it's giving me hope that BS isn't completely lost.

Alright, guys, I don't mean to mini-mod, but this is getting a bit too off topic. Please keep it to general SW discussion. Btw, I'm sorry, but I had to remove the robot chicken video. If you haven't seen it yet, I guess you'll have to wait 'til those scenes show up somewhere else.

Name: Magma Mech Set: 8189 Theme: Power Miners Year: 2010 Pieces: 183 Minifigs: 2 Price: USD 19.99 Hello there. I picked this set up during the Black Friday sale at the Lego store, and since there was no review of this set here yet, I thought I'd make one. Let's start with the box. On the side it has ads for the Lego Club and the Clutch Powers DVD movie, and unlike last year's PM sets, it has the number of the vehicle on it in large, lava-colored numbers. The back shows some of the play features and a close-up of the sweet new helmet. Inside the box you will find 3 bags, 1 loose cable, 1 instruction booklet, and 1 sticker sheet. Unlike previews PM stickers, these don't glow in the dark. This set is a treasure trove of extra-ordinary pieces! Here are all the new pieces in this set: One of those old wedged pieces and mudflaps in lime green, the smooth dome piece in trans blue, the big drill piece in blue, a new 4x4 round brick which doesn't have Technic holes and fits onto the new turntable piece, a dark bley 2x2 jumper plate, lime 1x3 and bley 2x4 tiles, the new 1x1brick with a stud on the side, and best of all - metallic silver tread links! This is one piece that would be great to have in large numbers! The figs in this set are excellent as well! Both the rock monster and the miner with a metal plate on his head are evolved versions of their former selfs. Firax has black body parts instead of dark bley ones and a transparent, flaming head. Metal Plate Guy has a shiny new outfit and armor. The miner without the armor: And finally, here is the mech itself: You can extract the claw arm by pulling the blue trigger underneath it. Here it is in mid-motion: And this is it fully extended. It moves very smoothly and can be retracted easily by pulling the trigger back again. However, it falls almost 90 degrees while extending. The cockpit is brick-built and can be opened. Left-over pieces: Bonus: The Magma Mech compared with the Mine Mech: Firax screamed in agony and pain as the Magma Mech forcefully grabbed him and started spraying him with ice-cold water... When all else fails, the big, heavy feet of the Magma Mech don't! Hi-res pics here on Flickr. Final thoughts: Build: 8/10 Even though it was nothing too challenging, it had little repetitiveness and was enjoyable. Design: 9/10 The new color scheme works well and is easier on the eyes than the bright lime/orange combination. I just love that V-shaped cockpit front and it was nice to see a brick-built cockpit instead of the usual one-piece one. The overall shape looks good too. When you try to move the arms, the whole cockpit bends a little, and some of the parts on the mech tend to fall off if you're not careful, so it could have been designed a little more stable, but it's fine as it is. Playability: 5/10 Although the Extend-O-Claw is a neat feature, you can't really do anything with except knock Firax over. The water cannon spins, but there's nothing to spin it with. It would have been nice to have a knob like on the Mine Mech to easily spin it with from behind. But the worst part is that the legs barely move except on the hip. Due to the engine pieces behind the legs and the mudflaps around the ankles, the feet can barely bend. And the knees don't move at all. But the claw mechanism works well, the cockpit opens, and it's somewhat posable. Parts: 10/10 Lots of new parts and awesome minifigs! What could you want more? Overall: 8/10 While the mech isn't perfect, it's still a neat set, and an awesome parts pack! The things that bother you can be easily fixed by simple mods. I'd prefer this set over two Fire Blasters any day.

Well, it turns out that even though my online account showed $0, I did have the cash reward. I used it on my last purchase in the Lego store.

Only 10% for me as well. I wouldn't be so disappointed if I wouldn't always get that kind of discount anyway due to my Disneyland annual pass, but oh well. I still got a bunch of sets: Solar Sailer, Smach'N'Grab, Magma Mech, Typhoon Sub, and Spongebob Neighbors magnet set. Plus a free PAB box.

No, it's not. They mention Ben 10 separately, so this can't be it.

Glad to see more people interested to continue this project. I have tinkered around a bit as Algernon suggested, and well, this is what I came up with: Steam Queen 2.0 I simply followed Algernon's instructions and changed the head, cape, and scepter. Steam Queen 3.0 As I was experimenting around, I started to venture into more robotic designs. I used that diver helmet because it looked very steampunky and covered most of the queen's face. Steam Queen 4.0 This is as robotic as it gets, I suppose. Perhaps it's too much? This was my first attempt at making a brick-built queen. Steam Queen 5.0 My personal favorite. This version was inspired by the movie Wild Wild West and looks very steampunky. It's also the one that fits Algernon's description of a weird rusty cyborg IMO. A back view. That R2 unit is supposed to be a steam tank. So, which one do you like best? Any suggestions? Also, I'm still looking for ideas for the Sky Fortress.

Interesting design. How about "Gzorknar"?

I'm still confused. Are you talking about Ahsoka or Ashoka? If the latter is the case, how do you know how he/she looks like? Do you guys think that that videogame they will announce is gonna be the Lego CW game that was rumored? Or perhaps Battlefront 3? I'm excited! Btw, does anyone know when exactly the Dark Side Days sale starts? On the website it says it starts today, but in the newsletter it said Friday & Saturday. Does this mean it starts at 12:00 am?

Meh, it was alright. Could have been much funnier. Plus they gave all the good parts away in the trailer. The Trekkies were funny though. Btw, does anyone know if S.S.S. Dark Side will be shown on TV or if it is a straight-to-DVD thing. I'd be surprised if it was, but I'm just checking.
