  1. Yes. It's a TRU exclusive.
  2. Okay, but if I make it more airship-like, I fear it will look less like a fortress. As for multiple decks: Tell me what you think should be on those decks, and I might consider it. But why would I need downward propellers? I already have six small ones on top and two zeppelins carrying this thing.
  3. Also my idea.
  4. I agree, a bit too blocky, especially around the front. Getting rid of those corners at the front would help. And yes, the presents seem rather random, but that's funny. Otherwise very detailed and cool looking. Hm... that must be a very secret compartment that you don't even show pics of it. Good luck!
  5. Good job, JD! This really tuned out great! That was my idea. Thanks for giving me credit, Jammie. Indeed, that is a nice touch. You're lucky to have such a rare piece too. Good luck!
  6. Oh no, contacts and glasses help a big deal. In fact, that's what two of the TV reports were about, how I make my life easier with aids like that. Here's another random fact about me: I wish I had a bionic eye. That would be so cool.
  7. As others have mentioned before, this isn't confirming anything. Gamestop is just a game retailer and could be ill-informed. However, it does give hope, so let's cross our fingers that they aren't wrong.
  8. Woohoo! This is the first online raffle I have ever won! Thanks EB Calendar team! Will the prizes be officially announced? And if we want to swap prizes with someone else, until when do we have to do so?
  9. Well, since I never introduced my self here let me tell you some things about me here. I am nearly 22 years old and enrolled at the Art Institute of California - Orange County. My major used to be Animation, but now switched to Visual Effects & Motion Graphics. I hope to work at one of the big Animation studios one day. My parents are Turkish. I was born in Berlin and moved to the States with my parents and little sister in 2005. Therefore, I can speak 3 different languages. Aside from Lego, I'm also obsessed with cartoons. I will watch anything that's animated, as long as it's not too dumb (like preschool TV shows or some of the stuff they show on adult swim). Usually, I despise Anime, but I respect it as a different kind of cartoon, and there are some exceptions (like Lupin III, Cowboy Bebop, or Steamboy) which are pretty good. I also like European comic books like Asterix, Tintin, or Don Rosa's Uncle Scrooge comics. I am a huge PIXAR fan, hence my obsession with the new Toy Story sets. Obviously, I'm a fan of the Star Wars saga too, mainly the prequel trilogy. As you can tell by my petition, I am a Harry Potter fan as well. It's the only book series I have ever completely read. I hate rain and cold weather, which is why I'm very glad we moved to sunny California! I hate Hannah Montana and all those other "Disney channel stars". I have a Disneyland annual pass and get 10% off at the Lego Store thanks to it. I just lost over 10 kilos thanks to daily exercise. I'm atheist and very afraid of death. My favorite color is lime green, exactly the kind the Power Miners sets are made out of. Currently I drive a silver Chevy Cavalier, and my dream car is a 2005 Mustang. However, my next car will be a hybrid as I feel bad about the environment, and it has much better mileage. I love fudge and milk chocolate. I also really like bread and melted cheese, which is why I love Pizza and cheeseburgers. I also like burritos. I have two cats and am totally a cat person. I also like frogs. I don't like dogs much. I have been very short sighted since birth, but fortunately I can see just good enough to be able to drive. I am constantly searching for ways to improve my vision. The good news: I have been featured on German TV three times due to my vision. So, now you know me a little better. I'll post again if I think of something interesting to share about myself.
  10. Anyway, here are the descriptions from the German 2010 catalog, translated by yours truly: 3845 Shave a Sheep Collect wool quickly! And watch it well, because your opponents will try to steal it. But don't forget to watch out for the bad wolf because he will do anything to scare your sheep. A quick, funny, and unforeseeable game for 2 to 4 players. 3846 UFO Attack The race for valuable resources from space has begun! Load as much as you can onto your rocket and bring it back to Earth! But watch out for the UFO. You never know if it supports you in your mission. An action-packed game that's "out of this world" for 2-4 players. 3847 Magma Monster Treasure hunters wanted! Cross the liquid lava stream as quickly as possible, defeat the monster, and get the treasure. Use the fire wall and monster to block your opponents. But beware! If the bats attack, you will only be able to proceed slowly. An exciting game with surprise twists for 2-4 small and big adventurers. 3848 Pirate Plank Thieves on board! Because they attempted to steal their captain's treasure, the pirates have to walk the plank. In order not to fall into the water, it is advisable to walk slowly. Who will be the last to stay on his plank and let back onto the ship? A fun game of elimination where the quickest isn't the winner for once.
  11. Thanks. Mind sketching out what you had in mind? Perhaps we could combine our ideas. Well, I was thinking of adding some small guns on the side walls, but that would be pretty much it. What kind of weapons would you like to see, and where would you place them? Well, I thought of this as more of a zeppelin-carried platform which moves around solely with propeller power, but if you think sails would be good, I can consider adding them. Where do you think should they be? If I do add sails, maybe I can make the front of the fortress look like that of a ship. What do you think? Thanks. And yes, let's hope this project will pick up after that. I have several MOC projects that have higher priority than this, but I hope I will have at least a rough draft of the fortress done by the end of Christmas break (which is in three weeks).
  12. Hehe. Thanks JD, that's not bad. Although the way you drew the jetpack piece looks a bit weird, and I must agree with C-bug that it looks more like somebody kicked me in the butt instead of me actually flying. Would have been much better if I were in the Superman pose or something.
  13. Haha! Great stuff! This is indeed the best animation you have done so far. The motions look very smooth. Picture quality is great too. I like how Mace and Obi look with their non-CW heads, but I think, for this video, Mace would have looked better with that angry expression on his CW face. The part where Jim and me look scared is a bit too long, but everything else is timed perfectly. You forgot the part where Mace says "I don't remember asking you a damn thing" after I interrupt him. The gun shot sound effect should have been a blaster shot. Remember, this is still SW. The bit with him kicking over Yoda's chair is freakin hilarious. Might have been even better if Yoda would have given off a small surprised "Hey!". Overall very good though.
  14. Really? Are they that bad? Are you sure your screen is adjusted right? I can lighten them up if you want...
  15. PART 2: 30009 Christmas Tree Theme: Creator Pieces: 47 Price: 3.49 USD This set has the same kind of polybag as the snowman and any other Creator promo-set. The back is the same as well, except it has a 1x3 slope instead of the orange cone. Contents: Again, parts and an instruction paper. Lots of green, gold, and silver! Front of the instructions: Back: The finished build and left-over pieces. Interestingly, you get a second extra pearl gold stud instead of an extra silver one. The tree looks pretty much the same from all sides, so here is just a straight-on shot of the other side of it: Looks pretty good, right? But if we look from above... ... not so much. At least it doesn't look much like a tree. It doesn't have have hook or anything, so it can't be used as an ornament, but it'll still look pretty good on your mantelpiece next to the snowman and your stockings. Ratings: Design: It's not the best Xmas tree design I have seen, but not the worst either. It looks OK from most angles, but it kinda feels more like one of those fake trees, especially due to those bley parts. The use of silver and pearl gold studs and the trans-clear diamond is nice though. 3/5 Parts: Nothing too exciting. As I said, the shiny studs and trans-clear diamond are nice, but not all that special. The propeller pieces are useful, but it would have been nice to get them in a new color for once. 3/5 Price: 47 pieces is getting close to being three times as good a value as an impulse set! I know you can't really compare Creator sets with impulse sets, but there aren't any other Creator sets in the same price range to compare these with. Back in 2006, you would have gotten around 60 pieces for this price, but these are tough times now, and 47 pieces for $3.45 is pretty good in my opinion. 5/5 Playability: Well, unlike the snowman, this is in minifig scale, so it can be used in Christmas scenes, but since no minifigs are included, there's not really anything you can do with it (except for maybe trying to come up with alternate ornament patterns). 0/5 Overall: 3/5 Meh, it's OK. Although not the best Lego Xmas tree out there, it looks more like a tree than the snowman looks like a snowman, and it's a cheap way to get some shiny studs, propeller pieces, green slopes, and a clear diamond. Good stocking stuffer as well. All pictures can be found in this brickshelf folder. I hope you enjoyed this review and have a merry Xmas!
  16. Hello there! I got these sets when TRU was giving them out for free with any Lego purchase, which equaled a BOGO-Free deal for me. So, just in time for the holidays, I bring you this little double review of these two TRU-exclusive Xmas Creator sets. Enjoy! PART 1: 30008 Snowman Theme: Creator Pieces: 44 Price: 3.49 USD Let's start with good ol' Frosty! He is bagged in the same kind of polybag as all previous Creator promotionals of this size. Contents: The parts and an instructions paper. As has been mentioned in the General Discussion forum, this set comes with six of the new modified 1x1 bricks with a stud on the side in white. Front of the instructions: The back of the instructions features the final two steps of the build, a Legoland California coupon, and ads for Creator sets 6751-6754, and 6743 The finished build: Front: Side: Back: This is the weak point of this set. The lines on the broom go the wrong way and everything looks very flat. Left over pieces include one of each droid arm, stud, and cheese slope: The top of the hat has a loop so that you can use it as a Christmas ornament! However, no string of any kind is included to hang it up with. But then again, normal Christmas ornaments don't usually come with any either. This is how it looks like when hung on a Christmas tree: Pretty neat, no? Ratings: Design: It looks a bit blocky for a snowman, but it's not too bad. I like the hat, bow tie, and broom, and the droid arms work surprisingly well as small branches. The back still bothers me a bit though. 3/5 Parts: Well, aside from the mod. 1x1s, nothing special, but since those are new and kinda rare, especially in that color, it's a pretty good way to get them cheap. And one can never have enough of those hinge pieces and cheese slopes. 3/5 Price: It's the same price as an impulse set but has about twice as many pieces, and considering this is a TRU exclusive, that's pretty good! 5/5 Playability: Uhm... It's a Christmas ornament. Not much you can do with that, and it's a bit too big to be incorporated into a City layout too. But you can pose the arms. That's at least something I suppose. 1/5 Overall: 4/5 It looks alright, especially on an Xmas tree, and it's a nice parts pack for a fair price. I guess there's not much one could want more from a Lego Christmas ornament.
  17. Uhm... you lost me. What are you talking about? Sherlock Holmes sets or steampunk sets? And what does S.H. have to do with Jules Verne? I don't know much about S.H. but I'm pretty sure it doesn't involve airships and all that kind of good steampunky stuff AFOLs would like to see as sets. As Cutlass Iz said, you'd be much better off with some of those animes as a license. But if you ask me, if Lego should ever decide to make a steampunk theme, they should make one up by themselves. That way the sets would be cheaper and the designers would have lots of creative freedom.
  18. Yeah, I guess you're right. And yes, obviously I did learn German. I grew up with it.
  19. No problem. Thank Navy Trooper Fenson for scanning it.
  20. Nothing. They don't all have to have accessories, you know. I mean, what could a dummy or a wrestler possibly come with anyway? Besides, we have already seen a complete pic of the wrestler, and he didn't have any accessories there either.
  21. Maybe because a picture of a pile of random pieces would look like crap?
  22. Found this in Dano's photostream: Translation: "16 Brand new minifigs to build, play with, collect and trade... ...So what's your favorite fig?"
  23. Lol. Where did that pic come from? Anyway, sure, here you go: Not so sure about the front yet. Right now it's a ramp for little attack flyers to take off of. The thing in the middle is the steam engine and the thing on top of the tower is the throne. Thoughts? Questions? Ideas?
  24. I think they're March, but yeah, I meant those. Where do the links take you?
  25. I think it's just you. The links in the first post still work for me.
