By all means, let the Simpsons theme continue, as a UCS theme or a regular theme, or a constraction theme or Technic or Duplo for all I care, just so long as it stops taking up a slot in the CMF series. Otherwise, my best wishes to the theme.

A wonderful representation of the painting - youve managed to keep the drama of the scene. Great posing of minifigs, and intersting solution to Caesars legs, as well as those of the gilded-helmed Roman. And special mention goes to the signums (signa?) and philarae recreated in the background!

Great lighting, it really sets the mysterious atmosphere, and lovely floor mosaic, too. And the amount of detailled goodies in the form of sculptures and treasures is really cool too - it would have made a great MOC even without the lighting effect.

A cool MOC and and interesting way to make the ice, but youve left out the fight between Bolg and Legolas runnging over falling stones! Thats the most, err, *notorious* part of the Ravenhill battle...

A fantastic brick-built Boromir (maybe even better than the official minifig!), and a great way to convey the drama of the scene!

Simple, yet dynamic and action packed. And original work with the antlers, however impractical they muight be! Im wondering whether this chestplate wouldnt be better given the color scheme. Of course, that depends on whether you have it. http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/lego/images/4/41/Red_knight3.png/revision/latest?cb=20131019192237 Might I suggest some green plates and/or plants to lioven up the land portion of the build?

I generally agree with all of Artifex´s points, with emphasis on points 1, 3, 4 and 7. A Castle CMF line would be cool, but I´m afraid that would mean a lot less to look forward to in a regular series, if all the prospective figs would be lumped into one series. I wouldn´t worry about no. 3a, since it´s up to us to decide who the good or bad guys are, if any. If the heads are too evil-looking, we can always switch them. I´d be careful about point no. 5 (more than just buildings), since LEGO themes are too often vehicle oriented, and Castle is thankfully a theme with more of an emphasis on buildings, and I´d like it to stay that way. Of course, nothing against carts, carriages and boats/ships. Just use the "quote" button on the lower right of the post you want to quote.

Yeah, I wonder whether a blue or white plume wouldnt have been better. But the red plume doesnt really bug me, thought I do think, as I did in 2009, that printed shakes are overly detailed, and plain black shakos were just the right level of genericness and versatility. But no big deal.

I on the contrary hope we will see the existing factions fleshed out. At least sand green Orcs/Trolls. But I do think it will be a complete reboot of Castle, since thats the modus operandi nowadays. So a bigger chance for Elves and CMF style Goblins, I guess. Not that I would be too disappointed.

Kids wouldnt buy the specific sets you mentioned, like Moria or Goblin King Battle, since they probably couldnt afford them. That would be the parents, which would mostly buy LotR/Hobbit sets because their kids like the movies, namely those particular scenes, and thats enough of a reason to buy them. I seriously doubt a kid or a casual nonFOL parent would be counting the price per piece, piece count, or similar parameters of the sets. The average kid, or even adult LotR fan or AFOL, isnt going to buy a zillion sets with hundreds of Gandalfs/Gimilis whatever. Its good business to spread these characters out.

I asked a similar question some time back. The answer from a staff member was that its difficult to track "automatically", since a lot of people dont publish their country of origin (or residence, which isnt distinguished, now that I think about it), and IIRC because there is no standardized term according to which a program could allocate members - one might write theyre from the United States or US or USA or America or NY,NY or any other permutation that would probably have to be inputed manually. At least thats how I understood it.

Apart from this, I could agree with everything you wrote. But the new Falcon heraldry? Yuck. Please keep the heraldry classic. Or at least as close as the new Bluecoats from the Pirate theme are to the original Bluecoats.

And dont forget the gold (and some buildings worthy of the name)... Otherwise, I agree. I rather prefer this iteration of Pirates to the 2009 one, insubstantial buildings aside (I actually dont mind the lack of monkeys or palm trees).

Sounds good if true. I only wonder whether any goblins/orcs/trolls will be sand green to maintain continuity with the Fantasy Era or olive green like the current CMF Goblin or the Moria Orcs, which seems more likely, as olive green seems like a more popular color for these kinds of guys. Still bummed there is no Castle this summer. I guess TLG wants to get rid of its LotR/Hobbit stock.

Im in the "these look pretty cool" camp. While I wasnt sure about hoe the gsng looked at first, especially Scoob, having seen bigger pics I think they look fine - as well as possible when translated into minifig shape and form. My nitpics are about the hair pieces - Freds should have been more angular/squarish, Shaggys less so, Daphnes flatter. The Mystery Machine looks neat as well. I dont mind stickers that much (though prints whould have been preferred). The tree does look a bit silly, I wonder whether its hollow and can fit an "eaten" minifig. Castle could have done with less purple, but otherwise it looks ok. Nice idea to add the greenhouse, even if the point was to get extra mileage from the pumpkin head mask. The ghost and black knight are built like they could have alt "exposed bad guy" faces, since bot are regular minifigs. possibly dracula as well.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 14 Rumors and Discussion

Not Scooby Doo, these figs are yellow. -
Im sure plenty of people noticed it. I went to Google image search as soon as I saw White Fangs review of the king, wondering why he looked so familiar, until I stumbed upon an image of a playing card and then it hit me.

I believe there still isnt 100% confirmation on this? Maybe its better to wait until the official TLG announcement.

A very readable and enjoyable review! Although not a must-haved set, I´ll give it an „above average“ mostly for the inclusion of the cannon (and for nostalgia, I guess). And my choice would be three guns - the biggest one to signal a passing ship for help, the middle one to dispatch the shark and the smallest one to end my misery if things go sour...

Yeah, its been mentioned in the S13 thread. Before that, I thought he was a reference to the Crusader faction, with his red-blue-yellow color scheme, but the bio is clear. Im not sure how close any theme could be to the1978 Castle - I doubt TLG would make pink heraldry (maybe if they made it red?), or even the maltese cross. And Im not sure about a yellow Castle either. I think the bio is just a shout-out, with no future consequence.

I shoud add that after seeing the pics of these minifigs, my appreciation for them and their classic look is as high as ever. Im also glad to see more diversity among the figs as well, especially the Imperials. Interesting that we got a new governor but the same pirate captain. Though its even stranger that Redbeard doesnt even have a red beard!
-
Great work on the landscape, especially the elevation and the path! Great design of Bilbo as well, though maybe the bulging eyes werent necessary, the bricks themselves might have worked as eyes.
-
I agree with the others, the figures and their posing are very well done, and the Smaug tail as a tree is neat too. And yes, I have listened to the provided music while looking at the MOC - it does add a lot of atmosphere!
-
Its strange that both the guy with gold eppaulettes and this one with white eppaulettes are sergeants. And its even stranger we have no officer ranks between the admiral and the sergeants.

I wonder whether they will be real monsters or regular people dressed up as monsters? I might actually prefer the 2nd alternative, it would be funny and save the real monsters for regular releases.
