  1. Rather than creating new categories, you could offer prizes separately for the two categories we already have, since from the way I understand it, there is only one prize for both categories. I felt from the beginning that it was rather different to design a new set, particularly in a classic style, and to do a modern remake of a set. Perhaps you could offer the Eldorado Fortress to the overall winner, but a smaller prize to the top entry in the other category.
  2. This is lovely. We always need more winter models! I like the inclusion of the new seal.
  3. I'm so glad you like it! The background is a combination of several of the official backgrounds with a lot of editing to blend it together. You're welcome.
  4. Very nice! I really like the way you have made the rolling waves from the transparent plates.
  5. Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Hey, I like the curved ears! I did have some concepts where the bridge was going over the water, but they did not work out with the baseplate. That's probably why the official sets did the same thing. The large rock element was only available in dark grey in 1994, so that is the reason for the different shades. Thank you for your feedback!
  6. Thank you! There are still a few available set numbers. I probably spent as much time editing images as designing the set.
  7. Thank you! That is exactly what I was going for.
  8. CALLING ALL LEGO MANIACS! Set your time machines for 1994! ************************************************************* We are delighted to introduce to you one of the most exciting sets from the new LEGO SYSTEM Indigo Islanders range. The Indigo Chief's Palace (set 6269) is located next to a hidden river and is filled with brilliant features. You'll find a narrow bridge to the Indigo Chief's throne room and a hidden treasure cave underneath. A mysterious statue guards the palace entrance from pirates who want to steal the treasure. Pirates who climb the ladder are in for a surprise: you can trigger a secret trap door and send them tumbling out of the mouth of the statue and into the river below, where the hungry crocodile waits. The Chief and two Islanders are included, as well as a canoe, chest of gold and pirate on a raft. Below are some pictures of the many thrilling adventures that await you in this new set. ************************************************************* Or, if you're in North America: Hey LEGO Maniacs! Check out the all new Islanders collection, with hidden coves, trick bridges, secret trap doors, and mysterious catamarans. It's enough to make your bricks spin! Only a LEGO Maniac like you can discover the Islanders' secrets. Check out the 6269 Islander Palace below, where the King, Queen, and palace guard protect their treasure from the thieving pirate! You can order the 6269 Islander Palace as well as all the other new Islanders sets from Shop at Home! We hope you enjoy this new set, and until next time, happy building!
  9. I am planning on entering a new build. I will be taking the below instruction far too seriously.
  10. In the UK, the animal called "moose" in North America is called elk (though they do not live in the UK). This matches with the Norwegian word "elg". However, in Norway, one usually sees "elg" translated as "moose", thus increasing the confusion.
  11. These are brilliant. My favourites are the Hydronaut and Stingray ones; they really fit in with the sets. I love how you made the neon elements glow!
  12. I've been reading the rules, but I just wanted to clarify something. Is there a separate prize for each category (remakes versus classic-style sets), or is it one prize for both? I notice most of the entries so far are modern remakes, and I was wondering if it would be difficult for people to vote when considering two potentially very different styles of building.
  13. Not an expert, but I have some knowledge of this :) The flag is a (relatively) small piece of cloth and will blow in the direction of the wind. The most efficient way to sail is with the wind at an angle behind you, not directly behind you, so the flag will point at an angle towards the front of the ship. It is impossible to sail a ship directly into the wind (with sail power), so a technique called tacking is used, basically a zig-zag motion. In this case, the flag should point at an angle towards the back of the ship. The flag should never point straight back, though. :)
  14. These are very nicely done. I love medieval history, so the events are very interesting.
  15. The autumn trees are beautiful! A very accurate and impressive model.
  16. Do you have the rest of this interview? I would be interested in the whole thing.
  17. 9. - 1 point 12. - 1 point 14. - 1 point
  18. During LEGO Con, Fenella very strongly hinted that we would have a new cast of characters for next year. I suspect Autumn and Paisley are two of the new Friends. Looking forward to finding out the rest!
