LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
Meaf replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I get what you mean (and agree for the most part) but surely that's a little overdramatic to say in response to Pokemon of all things getting a Lego theme? I mean that's literally the most popular media franchise on Earth, an army of kids will be asking for those sets come Christmas 2026. Relatedly (and to get back on topic), I feel like LSW is by far the worst offender when it comes to increased prices and being more aimed at adults (which are two very related factors). I think Lego has realized that Star Wars is getting to be more popular with adults than kids and are seizing on that by aiming more at collectors and bumping up prices accordingly. Idk maybe I'm just being overdramatic and reading too much into it, but it really feels like the LSW I knew as a kid is dead. They still put out some cool sets but the prices are just outrageous compared to nearly every other Lego theme, and the overall quality feels like hit-or-miss to me. -

This is really cool and honestly not something I expected to happen at all. Really wild that pretty much of all of Nintendo's biggest franchises are being represented in Lego now (aside from Super Smash Bros I guess, but who knows at this point). -

No yeah I completely agree. I think there's even less of an argument against a revision than there was for the stormtroopers, because as you said we've had 26 years to buy B1s. Even if you're just getting into LSW now and want a bunch of the current B1s, they've been available so long and with such minimal changes that you can buy them for next to nothing online, and I doubt they're going to get significantly more expensive even if we get a revised version. They feel pretty outdated and you'll always be able to get the old ones online for cheap, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't do an upgrade. I'm not dying for it since I just don't care about B1s too much either way (and I already have more than I would ever need), but I think a new mold or two is certainly warranted. -

Yeah the shrine goes on sale a lot it seems, I swear Amazon has had it for $70-$80 for like six months now (speaking of which, I really should grab that soon).- 759 replies

The set looks great, but yeah the price is pretty bad. The GWP sounds pretty neat but I can probably live without it, so if I end up getting this one I'm waiting for a sale or lots of bonus Insider points. I'm guessing it's less to do with tariffs and more because Lego just thinks they can get away with it. Most of the licensed 18+ sets are pretty overpriced, so we probably just got kind of lucky with Rivendell and Barad-Dur.

Woah, these all look really good. The Legends dragon is amazing, I'm completely sold already. Fire Knight Mech looks great too. The Bounty is excellent, I want to see more but I think it's at worst the second best they've ever done. The mech jet is the only one I'm not 100% on, the jet looks good but the mech looks a bit chunky for my liking. Definitely need higher res pictures though before I can really judge that. Overall though this wave looks really good so far. If the rest of this one is up to this level of quality, this is easily going to be one of the most impressive Ninjago waves ever.- 759 replies

Super Mario 2025 and onwards - Rumors & Discussion

The Mario Kart set isn't something that personally interests me, but it's got to be one of the most impressive sets I've seen in forever. The shaping of his face is just so ridiculously impressive that I almost can't believe it's real. -

Wow the U-Wing looks pretty good. I wish it could have been a bit bigger but for what it is, I think it's great. Kind of insane that it's only $10 cheaper than the original, though I'm sure the original would be at least $100 if it released now. -
There are definitely plenty of younger fans, but I am pretty confident there are enough older fans that it wouldn't be an issue. Nintendo has said before that people 20 to 30 are the largest demographic of Switch owners, and even if someone was a kid when BotW released, they may very well be an adult now. That was eight years ago as of tomorrow!

Kind of surprised they didn't throw R2's head on the X-Wing mech. Droid focused mechs seem like they make more sense than what we've been getting so far, but I guess the point is more just to include popular characters at a relatively low pricepoint, so I'm not sure we'll see any other than maybe Threepio or maybe R2 if they want to get creative. -
I feel like Eiji Aonuma's comments when the Deku Tree launched and the fact that Zelda has its own theme page on Lego's website all but confirms we'll get another set eventually. But yeah idk, maybe they want a big gap between the Deku Tree and the next one, or they were waiting to see how sales were?
-
There hasn't been any word on more Zelda sets yet, right? I haven't seen anything yet at least, which is kind of surprising, but I guess even if they make another it might not be until the end of this year.

I think budget constraints would probably keep the count significantly lower. With the Death Star there's bound to be a lot of reused minifigures, whereas only a handful of minifigures included a Minas Tirith set would reuse existing prints (aside from maybe heads). I think somewhere in the ballpark of 30 would be possible, but even then I'm not super confident in that number since Barad-Dur had significantly less than Rivendell despite being not that much cheaper. I guess that's another reason why smaller sets would be nice, though. They could definitely hit all the major characters even if the count was around 20, and then smaller sets could let people army build and maybe get some of the main characters if they don't want to shell out $1000 or whatever. I doubt it'll happen but I feel like that'd be a good way to handle it.

Ouch, that's one expensive battle pack. Hopefully I can get it for $30 eventually, I can't imagine it's going to be that popular with the average consumer at that price. Are clone bros really whaling hard enough that this thing is going to sell well or is Lego just losing it? -

Yeah I've noticed that the selection at most retailers has been a lot more limited lately. Maybe it's just because Lego makes so many sets now and there's only so much shelf space, but idk it's just annoying. I probably would have bought the smaller Kai mech from last year on a whim if I saw it in-person but I still haven't yet.- 759 replies

Well I qualified it as such because I think it's objectively bad for us and Lego certainly makes enough money to keep them at $10, but like realistically their not going to do that. They like seeing the big important numbers go up as much as anyone else and there has been a decent bit of inflation in the last few years, so it's not shocking. But I have no doubt they could keep selling these things at $10 and be fine financially. On that subject, I'd definitely have preferred if the builds had just been scaled down a little bit and they kept the $10 (or even $13) price. I guess it might be annoying for collectors who're into the ships, but I'm only buying them for the minifigures so yeah. I hope so, that'd be cool if nothing else. I guess they could always re-use the mold in future sets if they made a more generic death trooper helmet but idk, I already have a few of the older death troopers so I don't care too much. -

None of the rumors mentioned that so I would not expect it tbh. Not to defend the giant corporation but I do think this was probably a little "overdue" given how long they stayed at $10 (the regular ones were that much for ten years). $15 feels really steep for a single minifigure though. Obviously some people like to collect the vehicles too, but if you're like me and only (sometimes) buy them for the minifigures, this seems like a prohibitively expensive price. It'll be case by case for me since sometimes the character might be exclusive or only come in an UCS or something like that, but I will probably wait on Plo until we know if he's going to appear somewhere else next year. -

Yeah that's the thing, regardless of whether this year's sets do well, we won't see that reflected in what new sets we're getting until 2027 at the earliest. I would hope they ease up on them next year (one new legion would be perfectly reasonable imo) but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we see quite a few more clone sets in 2026. I expect the new movie will take up a lot of the year's sets but in the past new movie waves didn't seem to cut into the other main waves much if at all, so there's probably still a fair bit of room for more clones if Lego really wants to do that. And yeah, I don't know about everyone else but my expectation at the moment is that we'll see him show up in a set with his legion next year. Not saying it's 100% happening of course, but it makes perfect sense and the wolfpack is probably the most popular legion we don't already have so they feel like a shoe-in. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Kashyyk either but they feel slightly less likely since we've had more of them more recently, and I don't know if they would want to use up the last two really popular legions in one year. -

That was my thought as well. Evidently they consider the clone commanders enough of a draw to make them the selling point of larger sets, so this way they're just getting some money from people who want him now. They might be missing a few people who don't care about the Wolfpack and would have paid $100+ for a clone vehicle with Plo, but I suppose they just don't think that's a big enough segment of the market for it to matter much. -

I'm still kind of surprised we aren't getting any other sets with Plo Koon in them. Maybe it's a tired guess but a Wolfpack set with him in it seems almost inevitable for 2026, seeing as they're the most popular set of clones we haven't gotten new versions of yet. In regards to 2025, is there anything we still don't know about? Iirc we have names and descriptions for every set, though I guess we still don't know what minifigures are included in some of them. -

This was my thought as well. There is such a ridiculous amount of Star Wars content to pull from for a minifig series that even if they just included variants of important characters from the Skywalker Saga they could easily get like two or three waves out of them. Like if Lego isn't interested in making any new Cloud City sets for the next couple years, they could easily thrown in Cloud City Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando. Even if they decide to make new Cloud City sets sometime in the future, there's so much other stuff to cover that a lot of new fans will have gotten into Lego by then and won't be able to easily get those minifigures (not to mention kids). And that's just talking about major characters from the original trilogy, with how few sets they've been doing for some of the other movies, they could do regular versions of the main characters and it wouldn't even be an issue. I don't think there's any world where Lego wouldn't be doing a minifig series for Star Wars if they were allowed to. -

Same here, feels like it'd be a shame not to put the death trooper helmet mold to good use since it's already getting resurrected (ha) for the Night trooper BP. I'm really curious to see how the U-Wing line-up turns out, it just feels like no matter what there's going to be at least a few conspicuous omissions. I'm guessing Luthen won't be in it since we already got him, but even he feels like a weird omission with how central he is to the story, and there's only been one set so if you missed him before you're out of luck. -

The lack of smaller sets is weird too because it doesn't really feel like other stuff is taking their place? I guess there are the mechs but I was under the impression that those are more taking the small gimmick slots, and even when you account for inflation it just seems like there aren't too many small sets releasing nowadays. I haven't crunched the numbers so I might be completely wrong but when I was younger it felt like there was a lot more to pick from, though I suspect that feeling was in large part thanks to how many battle packs we used to get. Even just one more of those a year plus a duel set would go a long way, because as things stand the only impulse buy kind of sets are the gimmicks and the one normal size battle pack we get each year. -

I don't think the show characters are a problem if they work as civilians too, but I definitely get what you mean since a lot of show characters just don't fill in the kinds of gaps in roles that the generic civilians do. If anything, I would rather they don't include main characters that are already available elsewhere, but I'm sure they're more included for budget reasons (plus it would be kind of weird for the largest Ninjago set of the year to not include a ninja). I think Zane and Pixal are logical inclusions given the subject matter of this set too, it's just a little disappointing since there are relatively few minifigures included to begin with.- 759 replies

This is absolutely amazing, I really love the Castle Town square in particular. It looks pretty much exactly how I remember the game looking.
