  1. I suppose it's not unreasonable for them to start with just Gen 1 stuff but I'd be a little disappointed personally. The fact that we're getting only two sets total is bizarre considering how well these are bound to sell, so I do wonder if we may see more later on in 2026 or if they're just testing the waters.
  2. It's definitely not impossible but iirc most of those rumors pointed more towards it being an imperial base that was not the Death Star, or at least wasn't obviously supposed to be part of it. I still feel that the more likely (but less interesting) possibility is that it was always an ISD and the rumors about it being a base of some sort were just down to a game of leaker telephone gone wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time it's happened, and no doubt not the last either.
  3. Looks like you may be getting your wish, at least if that piece count is anything to go by. I am super curious to see what this ends up being, 1000 pieces should end up being in the ballpark of $100 (maybe more like $120 with the way things are going). That's a very versatile price/piece range imo, really feels like it could be just about anything from the series. If I had to take a guess though I do think it will be something from Breath of the Wild since the minifigures could be reused from the Deku Tree, and it's just far and away the most popular game in the series at this point. Maybe something like a stable with another side build?
  4. The Death Star looks a lot better than I'd anticipated based on the leaks, but I think I agree with the consensus here that it's just hard to look at it and go "yeah that's worth $1000." Though I suspect it will feel a lot bigger in person, I just can't imagine wanting to drop that much on it. Maybe if I end up finding a decent job (big maybe there ha) and it goes on sale for like $700, but as is I'm finding it hard to be wowed. And honestly, that's kind of sad to me. If they had to make a $1000 set, I would have hoped it'd blow my socks off, but they are very much still securely attached to my feet as things stand.
  5. And here I was thinking "that wasn't THAT long ago" . It's one of my favorite mechs of all time and this sounds like it has the potential to be an upgrade, so I think I'll probably end up picking it up.
  6. No idea if Lego has ever commented on where exactly everything gets made, but I wouldn't be surprised if certain pieces are only produced in one factory. Making molds is expensive and stuff like a helmet or alien head that will only be used for one minifigure ever might just be cheaper to make entirely with one mold in one specific place, then ship over. Not sure that that would really fully explain the price increases but that might be part of it. If anything though I think the biggest reason for them is probably just that they don't want it to feel like they're constantly jacking up prices over the next couple years. This way they're covered if inflation keeps happening consistently, and if not then they've just made some extra money.
  7. Yeah it's ridiculous for sure. I think $20 was understandable even if it hurt a little, and $30 for extra droids and better builds feels pretty reasonable. $45 is just insane though when the builds are worse than the $30 one we had recently and your not even getting any more figs. If it was like six clones, okay sure, if it had the commando droids that would take the edge off a little, but as is it's just absurd. Glad it exists for the kids who evidently want it but I still find Lego's greed here honestly kind of repugnant. Obviously it's just a toy at the end of the day, but it just sucks that people are going to be priced out of a hobby they enjoy.
  8. I feel like that's a completely different situation, is it not? I agree that those sets took no effort to make flop, but if we're not worried about the new sets selling well then why does anyone need to criticize the purchasing decisions of others in the first place?
  9. Ah okay, I guess that kinda makes sense? Still seems like a very bizarre design and not really something I can see a lot of people spending $1000 on though. I mean maybe it's just me but but I feel like if I had a kid and they really wanted a set for their birthday I'd just get it, even if it was overpriced. The cause of these absurd set prices is Lego being greedy, not Lego fans occasionally buy a set that's overpriced. "Vote with your wallet" basically never works for Lego because you need a concerted effort to get a lot of people to participate in the boycott, and a huge percentage of Lego buyers are people who will never look up anything to with Legos online, ever.
  10. Very baffling set based on everything we know. Even assuming it's a half-sphere or something along those lines, I still can't imagine it looking more impressive than the old Death Star? Also though I am a bit confused by this talk of it being a rectangle. As far as I can tell no one reliable has said that, so I'm not sure why that rumor got so much traction. To be fair though it would be very funny if it was true. Only other thing I wanted to comment on is the Hot Tub Stormtrooper, personally I'm a bit disappointed by his inclusion. Not because I think it's a bad choice, but I would just rather have him elsewhere since now there's no chance of me ever getting him.
  11. Not very interested in buildable recreations of anything but I will say that I absolutely love that the Gameboy not only includes a screen from Link's Awakening, but that it's from the beach scene with Malon. It's one of my favorite scenes in any Zelda game, so seeing it on the Lego is really neat.
  12. I think the frequency and time between release and perma-sales is also at least somewhat regional, around where I am it's pretty rare to see anything in store be on sale constantly unless it's just selling absolutely horrendously. From what I hear on here, in some regions (even other parts of the US), sales are basically guaranteed very quickly after release. So I think the answer really is just "it depends."
  13. I guess it probably just depends on how much they're making on the sets after the sales hit, cause it's definitely possible that the MSRPs for them are being set excessively high with the knowledge that they'll just go on sale in a little while and still sell well like you were saying. My thought was more that I think Walmart and Target and others like them would rather sell sets for full price if possible, but I'm sure there are other factors we aren't aware of that affect it too (like if there are stipulations on what themes/sets need to be carried). But yeah I'm not an expert either so honestly idk if sets hitting sales quickly will be an issue for them (and ofc it's possible that they'll still sell poorly even with sales).
  14. Is that really true though? I am not at all an expert in how big box retailers stock stuff but I thought the way it worked was that they order based on how much they think they're going to sell. If all the star wars sets sell badly and go on sale super fast, then logically those retailers will order less lego star wars next time they go to get more. That would be a sign to Lego that they made some mistakes with the current wave, no? I think you could definitely argue that Lego has such a death grip on the toy market and its fanbase that it doesn't really matter and they'll sell anyway, but that's a separate conversation.
  15. There are a few movie-specific things they could always do (like anything from the real world, including the final battle), but I get what you mean. I feel like it could potentially be more relevant with DK depending on what direction they take the movie in though, since there aren't a ton of DK characters that are recognizable to mass audiences and non-Nintendo fans in the same way that Mario, Luigi, Peach, Bowser, Yoshi and probably a few others are. DK is incredibly iconic ofc but beyond him and Diddy Kong I don't think there are many others who are super well-known? Maybe it doesn't matter too much, but I feel like having sets that more directly tie in with the movie would probably benefit DK a lot more than Mario. I'm sure DK stuff would sell fine either way if it's out around the time of the movie though.
  16. I was thinking about a B Wing as well but I don't really expect it, the last one was only $50 and that was before everything was getting downscaled. Hoth base would be really cool and it does feel like we're about due for a new version of it. I'm still expecting it to be a vehicle though, partly just so I don't get my hopes up too much but also because Lego has not been doing many large locations sets for LSW recently. The few we've been getting are mostly mid-price I'd say, and iirc the only one over $100 in the last three years was Yavin.
  17. I'd be so down for a Fondor, but I think you may be right about $100 be too little. The way I see it, there are two issues. First is just size, it's not out of the realm of possibility (especially if it's a fairly generous size relative to the price, which is rare but not unheard of). But the other thing is that Andor sets are just inherently going to skew more towards adults in terms of appeal, so I feel like if we got a larger set based on the series (which pretty much has to be the Fondor imo), it'd probably be more in the range of at least $150 since most adult fans would probably prefer a $150+ model that puts the extra parts to good use. In any case though, $100 is a really unusual price point for a rebel vehicle, especially in the era of downscaled sets. If nothing else I just hope it's something we've not seen in a long time, maybe even a location set if they're feeling daring.
  18. Was going to mention this as well. I saw a lot of people expecting them to release some M&G stuff in January, but surely waiting until April makes more sense right. And regarding discussion about whether they'll even cover the movie, I think it's all but certain. Mando has gotten new sets more consistently than probably any other subset of Star Wars in the last five years, there's no world where they don't cover an entire movie about them. Even if the movie flops, the sets will probably be fine just based on how popular the characters are, so it's about as risk-free a wave as Lego could ask for.
  19. Shock trooper mech feels like such a waste, these guys are already available in a cheap set! At least give us someone a little harder to come by .
  20. Not sure how likely this is, but I wonder if the upcoming Donkey Kong movie (which was revealed today via a copyright filing) might get some sort of tie in sets? I guess DK seems to be relegated to the Mario-style sets so far, but getting him having his own line would be cool and I think it'd make sense with how much Nintendo seems to be interested in pushing the character. He's already got a theme park land, his biggest game ever, and now a movie. A Lego theme just seems like it'd make sense at that point.
  21. I do wonder if we're potentially going to start seeing some more sets based on the Gunn DC stuff (aside from Batman, which I'm sure is a lock whenever that movie happens). Maybe Lego just isn't interested in covering movies as much anymore but honestly it feels like they're really missing out given how much money Superman is making.
  22. Imagine if they finally made the Tie Avenger but it was a microfighter. Honestly wouldn't put it past Lego though.
  23. The talk about the CTT's stability issues are crazy to me because I remember when I was a kid that one of my friends (who had the CW version) threw it out of a window about ten feet off the ground, and it came out almost completely unscathed. That's just an anecdote of course but it's pretty funny when you compare it to the new one, which apparently starts falling apart under the smallest amount of duress.
  24. I thought that was really weird as well, and it just seems kind of silly that my droid carrier from 2011 holds more than B1s than a MTT. Maybe they just didn't want to have to include that many, but they're not expensive to make and they could have even left a few spots empty yo encourage people to buy other sets that include them (obviously you could just bricklink them but I suspect most consumers don't know that or would be interested in other sets anyway). Only holding six just makes it feel so much smaller.
  25. Oh yeah I completely agree. For me at least, I think the CTT just feels like it loses a lot by being so much smaller than the older versions. It's supposed to be a behemoth of a vehicle, so it being so (relatively) small feels very off to me. The MTT feels too small as well but I think the general shape is still good, and the selection of minifigures is kind of better? The CTT having the Galactic Marines is awesome of course, but Ki Adi Mundi is not too exciting and three droids aren't worth much if you already have a million of them. Aayla Secura isn't the most exciting, but getting Bly and new commando droids is awesome, and I think the regular B1s are a lot more exciting in the context of a MTT. But idk the main factor is probably just the size thing I mentioned before.
