  1. New mech does look pretty cool but yeah not really worth the price it seems. It's a little funny how the $20 mechs feel like a really good deal for the price, whereas this one is the exact opposite (also still really weird Kai is getting two mechs).
  2. I think my sentiments on the new wave are pretty much shared by the others who have already commented. It's not bad, but it all feels pretty basic. I am a huge mech fan, but none of these really strike my fancy much except maybe Cole's. Egalt is awesome and I may very well get him, but otherwise I will probably hold off until the March sets.
  3. By complete coincidence I was thinking about the possibility of Deadpool sets earlier today. I definitely get why Lego might be hesitant to do it, but I think a lot of people are underestimating how tempting it must be from a financial perspective. Especially if the movie is only PG-13, I wouldn't be surprised at all if we see something even if it's only an 18+ set. I'm not sure if there's any hard data out there, but just anecdotally speaking I'd guess Deadpool is probably one of the most popular Marvel characters based on how much merch I see of him, and I have no doubt Lego would love to get a piece of that pie.
  4. Personally I'm not too bothered by the clones at the moment but I do agree that there are issues. Getting literally anything CIS would be nice, and at this point I do think they should cut back a little bit on the amount we're getting. One battle pack per year seems reasonable to me, more than that and it feels like it's starting to cut into other factions that also need it.
  5. The character customization point is pretty interesting to think about because while most of them don't, I think the outfits in Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom definitely count. There's sooooooo much potential with the dozens of different outfits Link gets in those games, so I could see Lego delve into that if they start doing a lot of sets. I'm not sure if the Mario sets were necessarily supposed to be a direct tie-in to the movie (as you mentioned in your other comment!), but I think that the move to do Lego sets and movies are both different aspects of Nintendo's drive to become more or less the Disney of video games. It just so happens that Lego already does tons of movie tie-ins, so the whole thing works pretty well and kind of feeds back on itself.
  6. I wonder what the Zelda movie means for a potential Lego Zelda theme. It's still a ways off, but I suppose we could end up getting sets based on it whenever it releases, especially if Zelda has become a regular theme by then (though who knows if that's happening).
  7. Are those the only sets we're getting for summer 2024 or is there a possibility of more later? Five would be a tiny wave compared to the most of the recent summer ones.
  8. Nice to hear Rex is coming in a cheaper set. I'll 100% be getting it, although I would have preferred if he'd been in a playscale set. Still can't complain too much though since it would have been annoying if he'd been in a more expensive set.
  9. This looks awesome! Love how you took the original idea and made it work in the Wild West Ninjago setting.
  10. I'd take that with a huge grain of salt since that's already what pretty much everyone is predicting at the moment.
  11. Agreed, I've wanted him as a bigfig ever since he was one in the original Lego Marvel game. I'm kind of surprised they never did that, although I guess maybe the logic is that there are other characters who "need" to be a bigfig more than Venom (like Hulk, realistically you're not going to ever have him be brick built).
  12. $500 Venomized Hulkbuster Yeah fair point, especially since the recent non-building Marvel D2Cs seem to have been poorly received (and sold accordingly).
  13. Oh that makes sense, I don't watch too much YouTube anymore and I have adblock on my laptop for when I use it for music. Anyway this is just a random thought I had, but how long does this forum think it'll be until we get some kind of venom/venomized D2C? I would not have expected it a few years ago but there have been way more D2Cs lately and venom stuff seems to be selling well considering Lego was willing to make that venomized Groot set. I don't think that one was really aimed at kids, which is why I think a D2C of some sort is possible, but to be fair I honestly have no idea who the target demographic of that set is.
  14. No idea if he's reliable but putting aside that rumor, I'm not sure I see them releasing him as an anniversary minifig when he could totally show up in a dedicated Mando season 3 set. Lego evidently has seen that it sells so I would be kind of surprised if we don't get anything else next year, especially since there are plenty of things they could do for season 3.
  15. Finally got around to taking a look at the Avengers Tower and I gotta say it does look really good. I doubt I'll be getting it, but as a set piece I am sure it's going to look quite good. I definitely can see why people are unhappy with the minifigures, but aside from that this looks great. It does make me a little sad that other Marvel sets are so mediocre though. I get that this is D2C so it has a way higher budget, but it's still kind of disappointing. I used to be way more into the Marvel sets, but between that and the MCU being pretty mid lately I have not picked up many of them. Just out of curiosity, where are you seeing these ads? I have had the exact opposite experience in that I literally didn't know when the movie was coming out until I saw a poster for it at a movie theater three days ago. Maybe the ad overlords have just pegged me as not being interested already, but I have gotten ads for other Marvel (and Disney) stuff relatively recently so I am not sure what's different for me here.
  16. Y-Wing would be a cool way to get Rex but honestly I kind of hope he just shows up in something cheap I can buy without any hesitation. It would be kind of lame but I could totally see him just being in some $30~ set with a BARC and an enemy counterpart (kind of like the older set he was in).
  17. Three minifigs is obviously not a great sample size, but if we're just going off the three confirmed the main similarity I can see is that they're all characters that we probably wouldn't get elsewhere, so I'm not sure they'd use Nien Numb as one of them if that's the case. I could definitely see him being thrown in a larger RotJ set at some point, even if it's not the Falcon itself, since he's probably one of the most (if not the most) requested original trilogy characters at this point.
  18. While I could absolutely see more Ashoka sets coming, I don't know that expecting too much is wise. Lego probably is going to want to cover Mandalorian S3 too, and even if there aren't a lot of new shows coming up, there are always going to be a practically infinite number of things they can draw on the films for. Maybe I am just being pessimistic though, getting some more large sets would be great.
  19. I mean we would get nicer figures in a CMF but yeah I generally agree, I feel like there are not many characters we NEED a CMF in order to get really. The only one that comes to mind is maybe Dr. Julien but even if it doesn't make sense, they could always throw him in a Ninjago City set.
  20. I feel like there is a slight chance we might end up getting it next year as a belated S1 tie-in, since the show obviously ended up being a lot more popular than most people were expecting. That said, there's no way we get a S2 set next year and unless it doesn't show up much at all in S2, I think Luthen's ship will be the most obvious candidate for that slot (meaning they probably won't do a S1 set of it first).
  21. The Venator is definitely cool but I am not at all the target audience (not that into UCS and don't have the money), but what does have me more interested is the new Rex figure. I can't imagine he is going to remain exclusive (aside from maybe the head print) for too long, given how much money Lego will make off whatever set they throw him in. Personally I'm hoping we get him in something smaller next summer, both so that it is more affordable and because if he shows up in a bigger set, they might end up taking up some of the minifig slots with more 501st clones. I guess I wouldn't mind if they were named characters, but that seems unlikely to me and otherwise I would prefer we either get new legions or entirely separate factions. Edit: I realized after I wrote this comment that I hadn't actually checked the 2024 set list again to see if Rex could show up in anything we know about, but so far that doesn't seem to be the case. Unless the set list in the 2024 news thread hasn't been updated, nothing we know anything about seems to suggest he might show up. There are a few sets we know nothing about currently though, so perhaps he'll appear in one of those.
  22. The name "Shadow Dojo" and the inclusion of the wolf head build make it sound like it would be an enemy-themed location of some sort, but then the bit where Lloyd and Arin can duel makes me think maybe it isn't? Strange-sounding set but I like the idea at least, definitely seems unique compared to the standard Ninjago fare.
  23. So true, if we can get two figs in the Jet I'll be overjoyed
  24. Would be nice but I don't think that's at all a guarantee after the Hoopty, unfortunately.
  25. I completely forgot we still need the symbiote suit, that's so funny. Why haven't they done that, yet we have two versions of venomized Iron Man and Spider-Ham
