LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!

I know practically everyone has commented on them, but the prices for the MTT and CTT are just unbelievably bad. The CTT doesn't look amazing but I think it'd be fine if it was in the ballpark of $100 to $120. MTT is similar although I am definitely more into the build there. I just don't get how Lego expects these to sell well, even with the supposed group of clone bros who'll buy anything. The other sets are all pretty overpriced too but I feel like they'll at least not feel too bad even with just a relatively minor discount. The bigger ones would need to be at least 30% off and that's pretty rare to find for LSW, at least around where I live. -

I think a focus on ANH would make a lot of sense too given what's on the schedule for 2025 and 2026. This year is the clone bonanza of course, and next year might be a little more varied but I imagine a lot of it will be focused on the Mandalorian (judging by the leaks, both the movie and the tv series). We've not gotten a lot of ANH sets in the last few years, and a lot of the most iconic locations and vehicles haven't been made at regular system scale in ages. Assuming none of these get remakes next year, by 2027 it will have been: - 7 years since we got a cantina (9 years if you exclude the MBS) - 10 years since we got an OT Y Wing (I'm excluding the tiny version in the Yavin set) - 7 years since we got a Landspeeder - 11 years since we got Vader's Tie Fighter - 16 years since we got an OT Millennium Falcon (not that the ST version is that different, but still) And these are just some obvious ones that I came up with off the top of my head. I'm not really a fan of having entire waves dedicated to one movie/series, but if there were any time when it was justified, the 50th anniversary would probably be it. -
I hadn't even considered that but yeah that's actually very possible. The Mario Movie didn't get any so I don't think it's guaranteed, though Minecraft did get some and that theme is a little closer to Zelda insofar as that it already gets minifigure playsets (whereas Nintendo and Lego may have felt that Mario Movie minifigure-scale sets would clash with the existing line of Mario sets). The Minecraft Movie only got two sets, but I guess we don't know enough about the Zelda movie to say how much would be needed to cover the main bases. Honestly it would be a little disappointing if they did Zelda movie sets before covering most of the games, but if the character and location designs are faithful to the games then I guess it's not a huge deal.

I think the bigger issue for WW is that Lego might just be worried it's not as popular as some of the other games? It's definitely not as popular as OoT, TP, BotW, or TotK just going by sales data, and it's only ever been on Nintendo's two worst selling consoles (aside from the Switch 2 release, but not a lot of people have one of those yet, and most people probably aren't getting one just for Wind Waker). I definitely wouldn't say it's out of the realm of possibility, but I just think they might prefer to cover some of the other games before it.

The 41st seem likely to come back soon, but I also would not be too surprised if we see the 212th again either next year or the year after. They're the most popular and recognizable group of clones aside from the 501st, and unlike their blue brethren, they've been in far fewer recent sets. I'm not sure if we know when the AT-TE is retiring but either way I can't imagine it's on too many store shelves at this point, and I'm sure there are a decent amount of people who skipped that one because it was expensive but would get a cheaper set with them. This is all just speculation ofc but I feel there's a non-zero chance we see them next year, especially since there aren't many popular legions left (really just Wolfpack and (if they even count) the 41st). -

I never had one, got into Legos when I was around 8 I think and have been interested ever since (I'm only in my mid-twenties now, though). I don't have any particularly impressive collections unless owning almost every minifigure variant of Zane counts. Anyway back on the topic of LSW, are we expecting to see the summer sets soon? I think I've mostly made up my mind on them by now, but I'd still like to see official images since it's a little hard to get a feel for the size of some of them in the leaks. I might be convinced to buy the Turbo Tank if it looks better from some other angles, but the leak makes it look pretty small so I'd have to find it for quite cheap if that's the case. -

I agree with all these points, he absolutely should get a new version, but my point is moreso just that it's easy to see why it hasn't happened yet. Lego just only has so many set slots each year, and the movies Dooku features in (not to mention Dooku himself) just aren't quite as popular as a lot of the others. Why do Yoda vs Dooku when they could do the final battle of Episode I or Episode V or whatever, you know? Or for ships, sure they could do a Separatist one and throw him in, but Lego clearly seems to think TIEs sell better. It's not that they can't make a set with him so much as it's that any set he might be in could be something else that's similar in concept but with more popular characters and contents. I'm hoping we have the chance to get him soon since they've been doing so much clone/prequel stuff as of late, but they're only just now starting to dip their toes into the Separatist material so who knows. I think his best shot would probably just be a microfighter. The funniest way to make him would be a mech, though I highly doubt that's happening since those seem reserved for just the most popular characters. -

Agreed on your main points but just wanted to chime in with regards to Dooku. I don't see people mention this a ton when he comes up, but I think the biggest hurdle to him getting made is just that there aren't really a ton of realistic options for sets where he would make sense. He's not actually in the prequels that much, and they still aren't making many CW sets that aren't primarily clone focused aside from the MTT I suppose. They could always throw him in a set where he doesn't necessarily belong just to get him out, but beyond that I'm not sure where he would show up. Maybe a new Gunship, but they've done very few phase 1 clone sets so that might not even work. It would be nice if they found somewhere to include him though if we're going to keep getting so many clone sets. -

Yeah 1000% agree. It'd have been ideal if they were maybe spread out a little more for variety's sake but I think pretty much every single clone wars/prequel set deserved a remake and it's awesome that (most) of them look quite good. I mentioned this before but I'm especially impressed with the minifigures, maybe it's just me but I think they're a real step up from the last few waves Star Wars has been getting (not there haven't been any good ones, just that some have been lacking). -

New sets look pretty good for the most part (the big exception is the Turbo Tank, which looks pretty small and ugly) but I just don't know that I can see myself buying much of this wave. I've always wanted a MTT but it's pretty small for the price and only holds six droids. Maybe if it's on sale later but even then I'm not sure. It's a shame though because most of the new minifigures are fantastic, I'd love to get some Obi Wan, Ventress, and some of the new clones if they came in sets I were more interested in. -

I'd be inclined to agree, but I still am not convinced it's going to stick. Like you said, cloth is cheaper, and it's also a lot more versatile. I think the main benefits to rubber and plastic stuff is that it's just harder for kids to break/ruin by accident, and in the case of the rubber capes they come easier which is good for play sometimes. But the cost thing just seems like it'd be an issue, especially since we live in a time where companies are going to be looking to cut costs anywhere they can. And maybe I'm wrong but I can't imagine the AFOL fanbase is too happy with the change either for the most part, it's just a huge departure from what's come before and will probably make a lot of people's collections seem incongruous. Lego changes stuff all the time though, so I guess maybe this is just another one of those things we'll have to live with. I actually like the new pauldron piece quite a bit, it just irks me because it'll look weird with the existing cloth ones I have. -

I find it really frustrating as well. Stuff like the droid carrier or the Kamino training would be great smaller sets with just a little bit of tweaking, and considering how few we're getting lately it just feels like a no brainer to me. Edit: Just wanted to mention that I know the Kamino one would be fairly obscure for a regular set, I'm just saying that more sets around that size would be nice. -

I'm also starting to get hungry for it, probably because this year was fairly boring to me, but I can't help but worry about the direction LSW may be going in. Feels like 2026 is going to be very make or break (pun not intended). -

Oh yeah I completely forgot about that online con thing, I remember being surprised anyone expected anything from it lmao. I guess that's probably why they axed it, but yeah at this point it honestly might be at least a little exciting now that they're getting better at keeping things under wraps. -

Finished Andor yesterday, so I guess that means I have to buy the U-Wing now . Yeah I was just thinking about this the other day. I'll admit that perhaps my memory is just failing me (when you keep up with Lego leaks for over a decade it all starts to blend together), but I feel like usually we'd have at least more concrete details by now? We're still getting new information about what comes in the summer sets and that's cool but I guess I wish we could just see them already considering how close they are. -

Well we're getting the Death Star this year, surely that counts right? I agree that it's weird we went so long without a new one, but if I had to take a guess, it's probably because the Cantina was so popular and ended up staying in production longer than Lego originally planned. I do find it a little disappointing that the next one is presumably the Death Star since it's been so long and it's going to be completely unaffordable for a lot of people, but I don't see any reason why it wouldn't count unless they're done with the MBS branding altogether. -

New sets look pretty good, but honestly none of them stand out that much to me aside from the Legends stuff and the Bounty. I guess that's bound to happen with how long the theme has gone for, but I'd have liked some kind of vehicle or base for the antagonists. Also disappointed that Zane is only in the Bounty, but I guess I can just buy him separately (if I had the money I'd buy it but that's a lot for a set I'm not head over heels for).- 768 replies

I think the new advent calendar would have been perfect if it included maybe one or two more minifigures (even just another Jawa), but as is I still like it. I have absolutely no use for the mini ships, so getting one that's instead all about droids is awesome. -

Well that was harsh lmao. Good news for me though, I suppose. I definitely wouldn't touch the CTT with a ten foot pole for the MSRP, but if I can get it on a good discount next year I might end up getting one. -

Wow that looks incredible. Not sure if/when I'll be able to get it since this will be an expensive year (considering the Switch 2, other Legos I'm interested in, and the fact that I don't have a full-time job), but I definitely am keen to pick it up at some point. It would be awesome if it had more articulation but it's not a huge issue for me, most of my Legos are just for display at the moment and I like the pose as is.- 768 replies

My guess is that it's probably down to what kids will have more fun with. The Dewbacks Lego have done lend themselves to play a little better since they stormtroopers are riding them. Banthas are more iconic (I think) but I don't know that they'd ever include one in anything other than a MBS. The Cantina kinda feels like it was our one real opportunity for that though, so it does make me wonder why they didn't do it. Maybe it's just an issue with a potential mold being really complicated to produce since it'd have so much texturing? I don't know much about how molds work though so that might not be an issue at all. -

They didn't increase them to what we've been expecting recently, but it's entirely possible (I'd say probable, even) that these decisions on prices were made a while ago, when the expectations around what was the potential limit on tariffs were radically different. Anyway though my main point here is more so just that it's an unpredictable situation. Given how rapidly things have been changing and the current 90 day waiting period, I think Lego is just playing it safe here by increasing prices a bit so that their financials look fine regardless of how things end up playing out. It sucks that they're increasing prices, obviously, but it's just safer for the business and has better optics too since the vast majority of people will never know the prices were going to be lowe to begin with. As far as potential Legos go, I would be interested in seeing what they do for the Maul show. Don't really feel like I need a show about him but the little I've heard is interesting enough where I'm sure they could do a cool set or two, and I feel like it's pretty much inevitable since Lego seems to love the guy. -

The problem is that businesses can't change stuff on the fly like that, they need to have their prices set in stone before stuff goes on sale. Say Lego decided not to raise prices, and then tariffs do end up going through; then they've just lost a huge chunk of revenue because they made the wrong assumption. From their PoV (and the PoV of any large multinational like them), the smart move is to increase prices to match around the upper end of what the tariffs are expected to be. That way, they're covering their behind if the tariffs do end up going into effect, and if not then they just made a pretty penny (and can potentially afford to lower the price later, since it's obviously much more palatable to consumers for prices to lower later than have to be increased).
