LEGO Star Wars Set Discussion 2025 - READ FIRST POST!!!
Meaf replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Yeah that's the thing, regardless of whether this year's sets do well, we won't see that reflected in what new sets we're getting until 2027 at the earliest. I would hope they ease up on them next year (one new legion would be perfectly reasonable imo) but I wouldn't be entirely surprised if we see quite a few more clone sets in 2026. I expect the new movie will take up a lot of the year's sets but in the past new movie waves didn't seem to cut into the other main waves much if at all, so there's probably still a fair bit of room for more clones if Lego really wants to do that. And yeah, I don't know about everyone else but my expectation at the moment is that we'll see him show up in a set with his legion next year. Not saying it's 100% happening of course, but it makes perfect sense and the wolfpack is probably the most popular legion we don't already have so they feel like a shoe-in. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Kashyyk either but they feel slightly less likely since we've had more of them more recently, and I don't know if they would want to use up the last two really popular legions in one year. -

That was my thought as well. Evidently they consider the clone commanders enough of a draw to make them the selling point of larger sets, so this way they're just getting some money from people who want him now. They might be missing a few people who don't care about the Wolfpack and would have paid $100+ for a clone vehicle with Plo, but I suppose they just don't think that's a big enough segment of the market for it to matter much. -

I'm still kind of surprised we aren't getting any other sets with Plo Koon in them. Maybe it's a tired guess but a Wolfpack set with him in it seems almost inevitable for 2026, seeing as they're the most popular set of clones we haven't gotten new versions of yet. In regards to 2025, is there anything we still don't know about? Iirc we have names and descriptions for every set, though I guess we still don't know what minifigures are included in some of them. -

This was my thought as well. There is such a ridiculous amount of Star Wars content to pull from for a minifig series that even if they just included variants of important characters from the Skywalker Saga they could easily get like two or three waves out of them. Like if Lego isn't interested in making any new Cloud City sets for the next couple years, they could easily thrown in Cloud City Luke, Leia, Han, and Lando. Even if they decide to make new Cloud City sets sometime in the future, there's so much other stuff to cover that a lot of new fans will have gotten into Lego by then and won't be able to easily get those minifigures (not to mention kids). And that's just talking about major characters from the original trilogy, with how few sets they've been doing for some of the other movies, they could do regular versions of the main characters and it wouldn't even be an issue. I don't think there's any world where Lego wouldn't be doing a minifig series for Star Wars if they were allowed to. -

Same here, feels like it'd be a shame not to put the death trooper helmet mold to good use since it's already getting resurrected (ha) for the Night trooper BP. I'm really curious to see how the U-Wing line-up turns out, it just feels like no matter what there's going to be at least a few conspicuous omissions. I'm guessing Luthen won't be in it since we already got him, but even he feels like a weird omission with how central he is to the story, and there's only been one set so if you missed him before you're out of luck. -

The lack of smaller sets is weird too because it doesn't really feel like other stuff is taking their place? I guess there are the mechs but I was under the impression that those are more taking the small gimmick slots, and even when you account for inflation it just seems like there aren't too many small sets releasing nowadays. I haven't crunched the numbers so I might be completely wrong but when I was younger it felt like there was a lot more to pick from, though I suspect that feeling was in large part thanks to how many battle packs we used to get. Even just one more of those a year plus a duel set would go a long way, because as things stand the only impulse buy kind of sets are the gimmicks and the one normal size battle pack we get each year. -

I don't think the show characters are a problem if they work as civilians too, but I definitely get what you mean since a lot of show characters just don't fill in the kinds of gaps in roles that the generic civilians do. If anything, I would rather they don't include main characters that are already available elsewhere, but I'm sure they're more included for budget reasons (plus it would be kind of weird for the largest Ninjago set of the year to not include a ninja). I think Zane and Pixal are logical inclusions given the subject matter of this set too, it's just a little disappointing since there are relatively few minifigures included to begin with.- 759 replies

This is absolutely amazing, I really love the Castle Town square in particular. It looks pretty much exactly how I remember the game looking.

Seems a little bit smaller than the others, but that was to be expected. Looks great as always though, I love the characters on top of the two upper level buildings. Also I think Pixal is fighting one of them? Not sure what's going on there. The rest of the sets seem interesting but I'm waiting on pictures. Lloyd's mech and the display set dragon seem the most interesting so far. I somehow haven't ever bought a Bounty despite being a fan since Ninjago started, so maybe I'll finally get this one if it looks good.- 759 replies

Thanks for the clarification! Definitely interesting, but background officers and such was pretty much exactly what I was expecting when I heard 40 minifigures. I wonder if there'll be anything super surprising? The only other thing I can think of that sort of makes sense would be Lando and Nien Numb, but even that seems really unlikely since they were inside the Falcon the whole time. -

I agree it seems a little uncharacteristic, but they threw five snowtroopers in the AT-AT so I wouldn't say it's out of the realm of possibility. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought Maxbaut was essentially confirmed that it's the Death Star II and that it has 40 minifigures? Or is that just speculation on his part? Assuming he was confirming that though, I don't really think it'd be an issue for it to include scenes from both even if it's got an exterior based on the DS II. The first DS set was ostensibly based on the original DS seeing as how there isn't a half of it under construction, but they still threw in scenes from both. And just from a practical standpoint, that'd be a weird self-imposed limitation since the only especially iconic scenes on the DS II are the final battle and the arrival scene (which seems like it'd take up too much space for it to be included at anything remotely approaching accurate scale). I just can't see how they'd include 40 minifigures, which to me implies a robust interior, and then base it entirely on the DS II. -

Is 40 minifigures in the $1000 Death Star really that crazy? The last one had 25 actual minifigures, so given how much more expensive this one is that number seems believable to me. They could throw in some other imperial leadership guys and probably more troopers, and that'd probably get you close to 40. The most interesting part to me is that 40 minifigures implies it's got a fully detailed interior and won't just be a giant gray ball. I don't think we've had any confirmation on that so far, but I think it makes sense cause I just don't think there's much of a market for a big gray sphere with no interior. They could even include plates on this one since the rooms would only be able to fit on the left half anyway, though I do wonder if it might get too heavy on that side. -

Huh, well that is not something I was expecting at all. Really curious to see if this is going to be a full series or more of a mini thing, and also if it's canon to the main show. Also makes me wonder if anything else we're getting this summer is part of that series? It's interesting that with these two sets at least, they both seem to be more targeted at an older audience? I doubt the show won't be kid friendly but it makes me wonder nonetheless.- 759 replies

I was actually just talking about the Lando situation with someone the other day, and yeah I completely agree. It just seems like such an obvious oversight to make his ESB version so rare despite him being such an iconic character. I know we don't get a ton of Cloud City sets but I'm surprised he's never been thrown into any of them, he could have easily been in a Slave I or the carbonite freezing chamber. I guess it's just a matter of him being less important/iconic than Luke, Han, Leia, Vader, and Boba, but still, you'd think he'd show up at least once in a smaller set. As far as the trooper heads go, I'm all for having them be more diverse. On the OT side of things I mostly just buy Stormtroopers, so it's more beneficial for me to have them be more diverse so I can reuse them elsewhere if I want. It's definitely an upgrade over the days of having all plain black heads, even if I do miss them a little. -

I don't really see it being Acolyte given how long it's been since it aired, especially since if it took this long to make, it'd mean they likely didn't even start working on it until after it was already known to have flopped. Snowspeeder makes a lot of sense as a relatively bland choice, but I cannot think of any reason why it would need to stay secret. I can't find the exact quote but I believe it was along the lines of "we shouldn't expect much from it," so I suppose that could really be taken any number of ways. A remake of an OT ship still seems like the most likely option for that sort of sentiment, but again, I don't know why that would need to be kept secret. Maybe it's a TFA set? I'm not really sure why that would need to be secret either but it'd at least line up with this being the anniversary and already getting a few other sets. -

Wait, isn't this the one that we also heard we shouldn't be too excited for? Seems almost oxymoronic that it would be so secretive and yet also not that interesting, but with how the rest of this wave has turned out maybe it's to be expected . -

Yeah, honestly I'd be fine with a remake if it's something we haven't seen in a while. I'm not getting my expectations up since that's literally what the leak said but I'm not convinced it's going to be worthless yet. It's been confirmed by most of the big leakers, so I'd say it's about as reliable as can get until we get official confirmation. I think there's probably a complete list floating around somewhere if you're interested. -

This description bugs me because like, anything could be interesting to anyone depending on what it is. I'm just going to assume the worst and expect another Landspeeder but honestly even if it's a remake, there are tons of sets that could use one at this point. I guess vague descriptions are just the name of the game in the leaks biz though. -

Ah yeah, that makes sense. I'm not on reddit much anymore except to occasionally look at leaks, but I maybe I'll check it out sometime. I think the last really good deal I got was the Justifier for half off at Walmart, but I almost regret that one since I just don't care about the set much. I hear Costco has some good deals pretty often, but I don't have a membership so that's not an option. As far as new sets for next year go, are there any we still don't know anything about? I know there are a lot of details missing like minifigures and such but I was under the impression that we have heard about most if not everything we're getting. Personally I'm fine with the selection for summer since I don't buy too many sets to begin with and I like having a few clones from each legion, but I definitely would have liked if it was at least a little more varied. The deluge of 18+ sets is definitely not helping either and kind of sucks for me since I don't care about those at all, but I guess we'll just have to hope 2026 turns out a little more balanced. -

Where are you getting the snub fighter for $3??? I know it's probably just a typo but I actually am curious where people get deals on sets these days, it feels like I almost never see any sales in person and online is rarely more than 20% off on the sites I check, at least for SW. -

I do see what you mean and I kind of agree, but I do also feel like ten is not great if you want minifigures to populate the set. Regular civilians almost never come in Ninjago sets, so whatever you get in the set is basically what you have to fill it out with something like this. Personally it doesn't matter for me, since if I end up getting it I can always just take a few minifigures off one of the Ninjago City sets or make some with spare parts, but I can see why it would suck for someone with a smaller collection.- 759 replies

That would be cool, but for whatever reason I'm still not expecting to see this thing until sometime in February. It just feels like we know so little about it right now that getting a reveal would be a little early? But I guess you never really know how things will go with D2Cs. Also makes me wonder if we're going to see anything interesting for the 15th anniversary next year. I think someone else suggested that we might get a new Ninjago City set around then, which I could definitely believe, but I guess it'll be a while before we hear anything about that.- 759 replies

Perhaps it's just me, but I really can't see it being related to Enoch. There are multiple characters who it refers to in-universe, so if it's hinting at anything I would presume it's almost definitely related to one of them. -
Looking excellent, as always. Don't really have much else to say except that I'm excited to see the completed model!

I'm pretty certain that casuals don't know any clone commanders besides Rex and Cody and even then that's probably only if they watched Clone Wars. The real question is probably who else can Lego make that clone fans will care about. Wolffe is obvious and I guess they could update Gree but yeah beyond that I really don't know. I guess there's a question of how much clone fans care about recognizability, but until we get more relatively obscure legions and see how much people care, I don't think we can say.
