  1. I cant tell what color their vests are. Orange or green?
  2. Im a little ashamed at how long it took me to actually figure out how this technique worked, haha. But this is awesome. Not just the water, but the whole thing. I really like this.
  3. These look fine. Are those arms on homer the first time we've gotten short sleeves?
  4. I have not, but now that you mention it, I may just do that in a moc som time.
  5. Great review! Im really not a fan of wall sections in lieu of actual buildings. I like the minifigures though. I don't get the hate on the necromancer. It's simple and nice.
  6. You should consider posting this in the pirate forum as well. I know the people there would be interested in seeing it if they havent already.
  7. Any chance you have a link to that? I dont recall seeing it.
  8. Ah, thanks for the info! That's what I figured, but I'm interested in whether they'll be semi complete buildings or literally just fronts, like they used in old movies and stuff. I think someone mentioned something like that earlier in the thread.
  9. While I have considered using them as gorgets before, here it's meant to be an Indian Peace Medal. They were given by the US and European governments to tribal representatives and leaders as a token of friendship and peace. They came to signify power in many tribes.
  10. Wow, I really like this. I like how much is going on.
  11. Would it be possible for a mod to put the the group picture of this series in the first post? I forgot which page it was on, and it took me a little while to find it, haha. I think it might make it easier for forgetful people like me, or people getting to the conversation a bit later than the rest of us.
  12. Hey, so I was wondering, why is it that Pirates doesn't get lumped under Historic themes on the forum? I know that Pirates and Castle are among the classic LEGO themes, but the grouping in these forums seems a bit arbitrary. Ninja and Western count as Historic, even though they're much closer in time to Pirates than they are to Castle. I could understand if the only things allowed in this forum were directly pirate related, but we also see a lot people posting about the Napoleonic Wars, the War of 1812, etc etc. It would also be something if everything were naval related, but the forum also features MOCs of armies and the Battle of Waterloo (admittedly, I haven't seen those in a while, but I think this would still be the place for it). Don't get me wrong, I love seeing all of it, I'm just not sure why the lines were drawn the way they were. Obviously this isn't a huge deal practically speaking, as everything seems to be working fine the way it is. That being said, I do feel like having the two forums more obviously linked might encourage some of the builders in the Historical subforum to maybe branch out and add more variety to this one, with Chinese junks or East Asian pirates, and vice versa, as a lot of the builders here are obviously very talented at building cities and fortifications. I know that there's already a level of cross pollination, so to speak, of builders between the forums, so I am possibly being naive, but I think it's worth thinking about. I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to discuss this.
  13. I have to side with Deathleech with regards to Castle vs. LotR. I love Castle and hope for many more waves in the near future, but the truth is that once the 3rd Hobbit movie gets released, that's basically the end, not just from hype but also the licenses and everything else. Just look at Harry Potter for example. In the 1 or 2 years we have left, I'd like to see as many LotR/Hobbit sets as possible, even if that means a few less Castle sets.
  14. Any word on the alternate builds yet? I don't think I've read anything about them here, but I might have missed it. While these sets are cool, and I appreciate them for what they are, I'm not exactly flush with cash right now so I don't think I'm going to buy any of them if the alternate builds don't actually exist/aren't any good. I'm really hoping the western ones are good, seeing as we haven't had anything for that theme recently.
  15. Thanks everybody! Do you guys have any suggestions for other heads or torsos that could be used? I might be looking to expand this war party in the future.
  16. haha, yeah i was thinking blues brother. That one is obviously not real, and I misspoke. What i meant tho, is that it is an example of a minifig that is clearly based on something recognizably individual without actually naming them. But the rest is exactly what I'm saying: they're supposed to be ambiguous. The only reason that Abe and Shakespeare are not is because of their presumably named roles in the movie.
  17. To be honest, I think the only reason there are any actual historical figures in this set is because of the movie tie-in. It was Shakespeare and Abe Lincoln in the movie, and not "thespian" or "mid-19th century American politician". I'm pretty sure that, going forward, the CMFs will likely be along the lines of Roman Emperor, Thespian, Sax Player, and others that are clearly modeled after real, recognizable, people without actually "being" them.
  18. This is a really nice moc, and the details are great! I love the buffalo in particular. The one thing is that the tomahawk warriors from series 10 are more representative of indians from the New England area than the Old West. Like Mr. Timms said, changing the hair would go far in increasing the accuracy, if that interests you.
  19. I think this series is fine. It doesnt have A LOT of what I collect (mostly historical stuff), but what it does have is nice. All I really have to say is: don't like it? That's fine; it probably wasn't designed with you in mind.
  20. It's really nice to see this project coming together! I can't wait to see the rest.
  21. The castle is obviously great and i like the figures a lot. I too dislike the game figs, so this was really cool to see.
  22. Hey everyone, I've been interested in Indians of the Northern US and Old Northwest for a while now. After a fair bit of research, I decided to try to put together a purist Iroquois war party. Things I'm still trying to get right: How to make a ball head warclub. How to make a gustoweh. I've been using the red head wraps but they dont carry the same sense of gravitas as those worn by Thayendanegea or Teyoninhokovrawen.
  23. Oof. That town on the end is fantastic.
  24. Wow, this is really nice! Love the play features. They add to it without being too in your face, just like play features should. The only thing is, does lego ever do sets with this level of rock or water work? I don't remember seeing anything that complicated in official sets, especially the water. Of course, I could be completely wrong.
