  1. Two Ms are often used in the train world. Now that will only be possible with a V1 reciever Since Ls are more powerfull than Ms and can function on a V2 channel just what is going on inside the Ms? Where's Philo and his big hammer?
  2. Yeah, that's right! But won't the V2 even start up two Ms? I've sold my last PF stuff so I can't try myself
  3. I am probably wrong then, but I'm certain I read something to that extent .. Anyway, as we know TLG moves in rather mysterious ways
  4. Hmm .. that is what I call poor engineering from TLG. Especially if V1 is being phased out. V1 will probably be more expensive than V2 in the future then
  5. Now, that is proper Technic LEGO Well done, Sir Edit : Ha, first thing I did back then was to put proper lights on my 8846
  6. Odd, why would that be? Philo must have the answer .. Max power consumption is 850mA for an M and 1,8A for an XL. 2 Ms is then using 100mA more than an XL Rather daft if the protection kicks in at 1,8A and not 1,9A Or can the V2 not drive two Ms at all no matter what load?
  7. It's been at least a year since I last bougt those trains. Maybe 7939 also have V2 now? Yeah, that's what I said regarding the buggy motor, but I'd still like to now why you think V2 can't run two Ms?
  8. Yeah, Brickset's forum as well. They used to share servers, but isn't BL on Amazon's cloud thingy now? ARGHHH!!!!
  9. I've bought loads of those trains and NONE of them came with a V2 reciever, so I would be very carefull about going that route Edit : It makes no sense that you need to chhose a V2 for it's higher current output to use with an XL, but a V2 cannot drive two Ms? Anyway, both IR recievers don't have the power to properly drive a buggy motor anyway
  10. Did I read somewhere that Technic in the US is now exclusive to a large chain (TrU/Wallmart?) If so, is TLG not selling Technics online (in the US) part of that deal? Rather weird in this modern time we live in. It's like when SP3 wasn't available in the UK, but could easily be bought from other parts of Europe .. Also, one should think that Technic would be very popluar in the US, afterall that is where monster crawlers, diy planes and whatnot is being crafted by skilled individuals due to more reasonable (imo) laws. That shit don't fly here in regulated-to-death EU I love watching Madram11's youtube channel, but the chance of me building/driving one of those suckers here is only slightly smaller than me becomming Queen of Denmark
  11. I like the 64mm cylinders, but the whole first generation of pneumatics is rather week. And you need to fit in the distributer block also. The long pump is pretty powerfull though I mostly use those old foam tires with the 20x30 being my favourite, the 2995s (mini Power Pullers) are also nice The old 9V system is vastly more flexible and there are many more parts, like elektrical plates and flashing lights that suit my needs. I don't make RC (got Tamiya for that) or moving vehicles ('cept trains) so I don't need powerfull motors And I like to build everything to Tech-fig scale
  12. I'm the opposite .. bought a LOT of modern sets, but I just don't find any joy in building with that. Since I've been lucky enough to grab most of the newer flagships at hefty discount, I now make a rather decent profit at Bricklink I use a fair amount of ordinary bricks'n'plates and whatnot to shape the look/functions of the model and that is important to me. I really do not dig that modern panel/flexy thing look. It reminds of a defleshed Terminator Also, I can't stand bluish greys .. but hey, that means there'll be enough LEGO to all of us
  13. The ouput from the IR reciever is not DC but PWM Anyway, this is a waste of time, imo. You'll most likely stress the motors (and not to mention the actual LEGO parts) by boosting the voltage/power If you want proper RC performance, buy proper RC cars
  14. Hej Emil That's the ONLY stuff I use, all that fancy odd number liftarm stuff is not for me. I do have loads of it, maybe we should trade seeing I'm in DK as well ;) Cheers, Ole
  15. The roof design of the 60051 makes that impossible 8 white 4181/2 in decent condition will be quite expensive. This would have been a nice opportunity for TLG to put those back into production (whites ones, that is) No, 2006 is very far away. TLG do not think their customers buy LEGO for that amount of years. If they did, we wouldn't get the same firestation whatever every second year This is simply designer laziness or maybe there's a Playmobil train that looks exactly like this that sells pretty good Anyway, that Duplo nose is everything that LEGO is not, sigh
  16. The model is from the 241 Idea Book, page 7 (EB won't let me link to the pic?) : http://www.peeron.com/scans/241-1/7 Edit : Oh, it's also an official model? I was just looking through the 241 some hours ago and thus remebered it How big is it? Cheers, Ole
  17. What? That is nonsense. I have thousands of CS bricks and +150 CS sets that I constantly MOC with and my son plays with. No broken parts here. In fact bricks from that era are of higher quality than the subpar stuff TLG puts out now Boring ship anyway, but thanx for the review
  18. Today I was one lucky guy! Answered an ad in the local paper : "Two large bags with Technic LEGO" with a crappy pic of what looked like a 8860 .. So, I went to the guy's house and picked up this lot : May not look like much, but I've found the following sets more or less complete : 855/955 856/951 8860 8844 8845 8848 8859 8846 8841 8472 8720 + a couple of early Universal sets and a bag of unused spareparts Now, that in itself is very very nice, but lo and behold there's more! ALL the major (and very expensive parts, like black/grey windows + large red train wheels) from the following trainsets : 7730 7740 7750 One red 12V motor, one black 12V motor and a bunch of rods to boot Plus at least three 7861s, a couple of 7867s and a complete 7820! All that for 67EUR, yes that is right. The train windows alone are worth triple that, motors the same .. And I'm going back saturday to check out "two large boxes with Starwars and some other stuff" .. Just to top that, I got a really nice order from BL today. Bought a lot of 80's classic town set with the very cryptic description : "Only used once when controlling building instructions at LEGO Company HQ in Denmark" The sets that arrived were all BRAND NEW! I feel like canceling my forthcomming holiday and just stay home and play with LEGO Life is sweet ..
  19. No, I bought a MISB 8680 and have one unopened 1162 left Edit : The new style pumps does not work with the old pneumatics, so I cannot try with compressor. Well, maybe a buggy motor won't mind driving a pump _with_ spring? Should have some time saturday to try it out
  20. Ok, then. I'll do the 48 & 64mm with a hand pump. I don't fancy taking the spring off one of my large pumps though .. What do you think the outcome will be? More or less than 2,5kg (for the 48mm)?? I actually don't know the answer myself ..
  21. Hello Milan Thanx for the vids, great job I just got a similar weight and could do a test with the old style pneumatics, if anyone is interested?
  22. Oh, for that you'll get an 'old geezer' tag ..
  23. Yes, the train regulator is standard linear/high loss regulation (LM317)
