  1. People were complaining about how hexagonal the disc is. In this view, the outline seems perfectly oval? I think the direction of the studs do not help. The edges of the plates also give it a hexagonal feel. Finally, perhaps some more detailing on the top surface would help distract from the limitations mentioned earlier.
  2. Not ashamed to admit that I hate the tackiness of MCU. Knowing Lego, they probably are reserving the dual-molded legs for a future set so it will be a chase part. LOL
  3. I grew up in the 80s watching those classic Marvel cartoons such as Thor, Namor, and of course FF4! Miss those days!
  4. On the wikipedia page, I initially saw that The Beast (X-Men) will be in that movie. I got excited for which other X-Men will be appearing but it is just the same cast of characters that we have gotten from the X-Mansion. Sigh :(
  5. Just saw FF4: First Steps on Disney+. Loved it! I have always loved Marvel comics, but really found the MCU a bit (a lot) tacky. Anyway, I am dumbfounded that Lego just did one set. They could have also made the Fantasticar and Silver Surfer, etc. Oh well...
  6. Perhaps that and the fact that we are getting that Sushi restaurant modular from BDP which may look *too similar* to some Lego fans.
  7. I'm going to be honest and I would love a location-based set as well. But I am inclined to think that Lego did their market research on what items might sell under this theme. Remember, these items were/ are intended for the Chinese market.
  8. My first thought on seeing this is that it could perhaps be MOC'ed to fit with the upcoming BDP Sushi restaurant!
  9. I have the Fire Brigade set which I bought during covid at a hefty price. I could not pull the trigger into opening it and building it. LOL. Its value may perhaps be much more than Bricklinking parts to make into a set.
  10. I really do think that some series has appeal for some of its reusable parts. Looney Tunes was just so specific to Looney Tunes fans.
  11. Not everyone is going to be happy with everything. (Really reminds me of the skit from SNL about "Romano Tours" ) I think as far as Lego is concerned, they are satisfying a certain segment of the market: those who like these whimsical costumes. Let the free market be the judge of whether this is a successful series or not. I've bought all the CMFs in the past, except the F1. It probably did not sell as well as the other ones overall but then again, you see so many third-party display companies making cases/ frames for it!?!? So Lego must have done something right with that!
  12. I wonder which CMF series, ever, was the most successful. Although we know that Lego doesn't share their sales numbers. I'm guessing it's an IP set. But I also wonder about the non-IP sets.
  13. Lego mainline will not give us a substantial castle, but hopefully BDP will.
  14. I think people already predicted when the turkey minifig came out that the tailpiece can be reused for a peacock. Is there any other possible animal or costume that could repurpose it? Gorilla was King Kong, and Lizard was Godzilla? LOL
  15. How many total distinct dog moulds have we had? classic dog (no prints, just indents for eyes) Labrador Mastiff (Harry Potter) Alsatian Husky Terrier Afghan hound Chihuahua Wolf generic puppy mould. Any I am missing?
  16. Oh yes, Brown Space was in the earlier Series, my bad! I think I was somewhat confusing it with the pink baby!!! I am really missing more of the gods and goddesses and other mythological creatures? Not sure why Lego all of a sudden stopped including those??? One could argue Cupid made a recent appearance but it was the cutesy version! Roman/ Greek mythology + Egyptian figures. We are missing those. I would never say no to more Disney. Disney, Sonic, Animal Crossing, Super Mario, Pokemon!!!
  17. I think the Space series drummed up a lot of excitement for the M:Tron and Blacktron figs and themes. Although I think some fans were disappointed with the lack of parts to complete the Blacktron Alien. Apart from those two, there possibly were just another two or three 'interesting' figs. I'm a Classic Space fan so I would nominate the brown space guy. But I agree that the versatility of the parts and minifigs themselves were not really there. I feel like Castle would yield a lot of desirable figs. For one, how many 'active' factions do we currently have out there? Horse, Snakes, Griffins, and Krakens. Add in the much-wanted Crow/ Ravens. I am now thinking that perhaps Pirates may not yield as many interesting figs. Looking at those leaflets/ checklists again... how about a Sports, or Circus, or mythological figures theme? LOL
  18. Forgot to mention upthread... I would really love for Lego to make a Phoenix for category #4. I would also love for them to make more dinosaurs, but especially other prehistoric creatures like the mammoth and saber tooth tiger. It would be interesting how they do the horse for next year's CNY sets.
  19. I've kept the checklists from past CMFs and I was looking through the past minifigs, and it seems that all the past ones could be classified into perhaps three to five categories. And Lego, interestingly focused on only one of these, supposedly to 'homogenize' the theme, perhaps. 1. The CMF had an animal head with holes for eyes. The entire minifig mimicked the animal itself. An example of this is the gorilla suit guy from Series 3 which I believe may have been the very first animal suit CMF? Other examples would be the cat from Series 18, and the teddy bear (was this from BAM?), as well as the Panda (BAM Chinese New Year). 2. Animal body and torso. The head piece shows the animal's full face, but it also shows the full face of the minifig. I believe the first of this example is the lizard guy from Series 5. I would like to also point out that the upcoming animal costume series appears consistent with this minifig. These tend to be more "fun" or "party-like". Apart from various examples from the CMF, we've also had a giraffe from a TLM CMF, chick from a seasonal promotion, and blue bird from BAM. 3. Animal body and torso, but the headpiece only shows part of the animal head, with no animal face or eyes. It does show the full minifig face. The minifig is more of a "person imitating an animal". Examples of these would be the rabbit guy from Series 7, and the bee girl from Series 10. Also, the tiger lady from Series 14. 4. Same as style #2 but mythological creatures such as the Unicorn or Dragon. 5. Same as style #2 but prehistoric creatures (so far, only dinosaurs). 6. Re-colored animal suit to commemorate or reference a theme. These are in various styles, but mostly #2 and #3. Examples would be the BAM releases as well as the Chinese New Year mascots. Some but not all of these could possibly be remade into style #2. (e.g., get the CNY tiger headpiece and put it on to Tigger, etc.) One could also argue that the wolf from Series 23 might belong to this sub-group since he is wearing a jumpsuit, but not sure there is a torso and body combo you could slap it on to. Not sure whether to classify the shark guy from Series 15 into #2 or #6 since he is blue. The shark tuxedo guy is definitely in #6.
  20. What other internal CMF sub-theme can they spin off as a series of its own? We had Space, then Animal Costumes... what next, Castle? Pirates? I think we have to take into account the plurality of the individual parts ... some of the DnD minifigs had parts that could be nonspecific and much reusable. For example, the Dragonborn paladin had a torso and legs that are good for minifig MOCs. Same with the halfling druid.
  21. I wanna buy it just for the minifigs. LOL I am pretty sure someone will make a MOC on RB with less hexagonal features.
  22. How about for Downton... why was it in the parking lot, then recently moved to approved?
  23. I think there are a few IPs out there where the characters do not have a 'home' that can be made into a set. Take Looney Tunes and to some extent, The Muppets for example. But yes, many wanted characters are better off in a set than a standalone CMF.
  24. I love it! I love it! I love it!!! My faves are the Lion, and the Monkey! I really wish Lego would find a way to 'include' some sort of hand or stud attachment to the fins/ wings arms, so at least they could 'hold' something. On the one hand, I really do like the mid-legs that are movable, but agree the goldfish may have looked cuter with short legs. Could it be that the tail fin would sit too low with the short legs?
  25. Lots of IP!!! I wonder why the Golden Girls project is parked? I would definitely buy it! Would probably also buy Downton, Power Rangers, and Smurfs!!!
