  1. Look at the bright side. If you are mostly interested in regular figs, that means your wallet gets a break and you are able to buy other things that you wouldn't be able to purchase if you were collecting the figures. At least that's how I look at it.
  2. Well, then just don't buy the extra two figures. I do not mean to be rude, but I really do not understand why people complain about us getting more figures. Nobody is being forced to buy all of the figures. If one wants a complete collection, that is one's decision, but it would make little sense to buy a complete collection of something in which one doesn't like some of the figures. I say that being an actual CMF completitionist! I have collected all complete series except team GB, the Simpsons, and Mr. Gold, because I didn't feel those were worth my money. I love the variety of figures that I have in the complete series I have collected, but I have never felt forced to buy the complete series. I do that out of my love for minifigs.
  3. While I agree that the Western media gives more weight to tragedies in the West, I do really wonder if this is specific to Western media. Although what you are saying is true, and all people are worth the same, I personally believe that this is a time to mourn, and that out of respect for those in France, we shouldn't be making this kind of argument about who has it worse in the world at this specific time. That having been said, I just want to say, to any French reading this, that I am truly moved by what happened, and that I hope that peace is brought to France (and the rest of the world) and that justice is brought to those responsible. Vive la France!
  4. It may sound silly, but I have been waiting since series 5 for them to do that... I keep a bag of each series and the lack of purple is killing me. Not to mention the fact that purple bags would look really nice...
  5. Wow, seeing those pics made me really glad that I don't place accesories on my figures or place them in studs anymore... Which is sad for people who really like to do that.
  6. Honestly, I'm not a fan of Ninjago, and I probably won't be collecting the series. However, I am not annoyed at all. I didn't collect the Simpsons series either, and it allowed my wallet time to breathe and the opportunity to buy other things that I was interested in. I think it's a win-win for fan and non-fans alike.
  7. Could the DeLorean billboard Easter Egg in the free roam of the BTTF level in Lego Dimensions be teasing a set? The image is clearly taken from the rejected Ideas project for a UCS DeLorean, which might say it doesn't mean much. Regardless, it's a fun Easter Egg that just made me a little curious.
  8. I'd love some neo-classic space, and maybe Blacktron III. However, I'm currently saturated with Lego and cannot afford more sets in my budget.
  9. Trains and Arduinos? Awesome! I'm taking a class right now in which we're doing stuff like this, with toy trains instead of Lego trains. I think you would enjoy looking at the past projects.
  10. It's interesting that you mention that, and I had not considered it from that perspective. At the same time, there is a slight chance that October 21st could make them realize that at least some BTTF sets could be profitable in the near future. It does seem unlikely that the franchise will be any more popular decades from now, so if we are going to have any BTTF Lego, the near future would have to be the time.
  11. Dr. Emmett Brown: No! Marty! We've already agreed that having information about the future can be extremely dangerous. Even if your intentions are good, it can backfire drastically! [Marty nods reluctantly] Dr. Emmett Brown: Whatever you've got to tell me, I'll find out through the natural course of time. Just wait. It'll come.
  12. Hopefully enough to catch Lego's attention? It seems to me that reports of random cracks are too common for an external factor. Clearly something must be up with the quality control, or the way they are producing the parts.
  13. Wouldn't we all get something good out of a great figure coming in a small set? Even the people who already have a Slave I could get multiples. Abundance would be better for everyone but the resellers, I think. I am disappointed that the Fett with the arm printing is not in the Cloud City set, and these are final renders. I guess I will have to dish out the cash for the exclusive Slave I version.
  14. As an aerospace engineer, I have to say this looks terrible.
  15. Thanks a lot for the pic! Luckily for my wallet, I don't like the set too much. The figures, however... Having the three big DC characters in a single set, that's nice.
  16. I do not know for sure (perhaps it has been confirmed in a previous post). However, Lego hasn't made a yellow licensed figure (aside from the Simpsons) in more than 10 years. These figures will almost certainly be fleshies.
  17. "The annoying girl"? Yeah, I wouldn't buy this set if I were you.
  18. I have heard of oil being bad for printing, but I had never heard of chemical stress cracking before. Believe it or not, I actually wipe my figs and try to avoid touching them directly as much as possible. However, from what you are saying, it would seem that the best way to avoid this kind of cracking would be to avoid touching the fig in the areas under stress (i.e. the sides of the torso, the arms near the hands...). Aside from that, I can only think that the plastic could fail under fatigue, which can be avoided by never disassembling the figure. However, you made me curious. Do you know for sure that ABS specifically can be damaged by chemical stress cracking with oil from hands? I would think that Lego would avoid a plastic that is prone to cracking simply by contact with human oily skin. However, it is clear that the bricks can fail under fatigue. Perhaps, as other have mentioned, their quality control has gone down. It might be possible that errors in tolerancing are making the hips too tight inside the torso, making the plastic in the torso exceed its utlimate tensile strength. Maybe this is what has changed? Edit: I see what you are saying now. It seems that ABS is actually particularly susceptible to this kind of failure...
  19. The thing that mostly scares me is that, should one of my licensed figures crack after the set it came in was retired, I won't be able to get a free replacement from Lego. I have had no cracks (that I know of) so far and I have 1000+ figs, but from what some of you guys are saying, it seems like this is a matter of luck...
  20. The amount of figures available is unexpected from bootlegs. For everyone to say they are real and for no one to provide proof that they are knock-offs (as in a box with the figures that is clearly not official from Lego), it would seem that these are real. I hope that, if they look this bad, it is because they are prototypes. Otherwise, I am really disappointed. As mentioned before by others, that head does not go with the modern cowl. The muscle print is outdated, there is no use of dual-molded boots, and the plastic wings do not look good. The mere existence of a debate as to whether or not these figures are real attests to their low quality.
  21. Well, I actually think there's a couple of things that could be done. A UCSish DeLorean, for instance, or at least a better looking minifig-scale DeLorean. Some fun ideas that I can think about for sets are the skateboard chase (either 1955 or 2015), the scene with the lightning and the clocktower (scaled down enough for simplicity), and the scene with the train and the DeLorean. Other people have pointed out the Time Train, which I'm sure would be pretty popular as well! Unfortunately all additional Ideas sets seem to have had bad fates after the first success. It might be the case that Lego doesn't think there is enough interest for these sets. What little hope I do have comes from the fact that they decided to include Back to the Future in Dimensions, which to me means that they believe that, to some degree, BTTF is marketable to children as well. The lack of big media tie-ins definitely seems to be a problem. I had been hoping that with all the attention that the trilogy received this year with Back to the Future Day, that Lego would be tempted to do something special. On the plus side, the amount of attention the franchise got this year could have increased interest in the trilogy, and could potentially warrant a couple Lego sets.
  22. Coming April 1st, 2022: 10300: DeLorean Time Machine 1872 pcs, $169.99 Minifigs: Marty and Doc (BTTF Part II) Measures 35cm long Features three distinct building options: choose which car from the Back to the Future films you want to build first; rebuild to create the other versions (all three versions cannot be built simultaneously from the single set) Set features Doc Brown and Marty McFly incarnated as LEGO minifigures Faithfully recreated details from the three films include: tyres that fold down for flight mode, the iconic light-up flux capacitor, dashboard dates, opening gull-wing doors and hood, and a variety of other Easter eggs like Marty’s hoverboard and swappable licence plates Features windscreen and shaping element for the front of the DeLorean which are new to LEGO https://www.lego.com/en-us/lego-delorean-is-back https://brickset.com/article/73524/bttf-delorean-time-machine-revealed! https://www.lego.com/en-us/product/back-to-the-future-time-machine-10300 ----------------------------------------- Ever since the DeLorean Ideas set came out, I have been hoping that Lego's licensing with Universal for that specific set could result in more BTTF sets. In fact, I am pretty sure that this made it easier for the Dimensions game to include BTTF. However, as a huge BTTF fan, who's hoping to get more figs and a better-looking DeLorean than what we actually got, my thirst is not satisfied by the figures and parts included in the Dimensions packs. How likely is it that we will ever get more BTTF sets? Right now, it seems that Lego is saturated with licenses. However, it would be great to see sets a la Ghostbusters HQ made for BTTF. Is there any hope?
  23. You mean in individual bags? Because that is very scary, since I store my figures like that. Could it possibly have to do with heat?
  24. It doesn't seem to me that all of these things are causing Lego to go dowhnill anytime soon. Rather, they recently became the #1 toy brand in the world. Back to the original question, though. The universe itself as we know it will end some day, in the heat death of the universe. Given this, humankind will not stick around forever, and this means Lego's days are not infinite either. I do hope Lego sticks around for the rest of my life, though.
