San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Percabeth's topic in Culture & Multimedia
2102? Wow, isn't it a bit early to discuss a Comic-Con that is 90 years away? Just kidding. I'm really looking forward to any Lego updates. -
¡Viva España! Congratulations to the Champions! Awesome team.

The CMF collector's problem
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yup, as I said, the approaches have limited applications and do not refer to the probability of getting a complete set under any kind of circumstances, but only to the probability of getting all out of a completely random selection. In fact, if you buy online, the boxes have not been picked through by people looking for a specific figure. Trying to complete a set like this is not a common practice, but some people think about it (especially those that don't have access to a store with these figures), and this data is meant to show that buying random packs to get a complete set is counterproductive. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm fed up with these exclusives... I mean, I don't mind if Lego makes a few figs that they hand out to just a few people. What really upsets me is when it's about popular characters that people want, and Lego decides to make them exclusives. Lego is meant to be a toy, not a super rare collectible. -
The CMF collector's problem

Thanks for adding to the work we've done. Again, we're speaking about a 100% random choice of figs, as opposed to using the feeling method to find the figs. -
Great! I was just wishing for some tigers (some pride about them there ) Great! These would definitely work as official Lego parts.

Hi! Welcome to Eurobricks! Us Latin Americans and others from the region would appreciate if you referred to your country as the US and not America, since the US is not the only country in this continent. Hope you have a great time here! I think that you'll find this forum to be... Addicting.

Wow, great model! I'm supporting it on Cuusoo! By the way, I think that using that piece as a cockpit is very creative and ingenious! Thanks for sharing!

Minifigures exposition
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to jupitergames's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The only downside that these displays have, for minifigure collectors, is UV exposure. For this reason, I keep my figs away from sunlight. However, I must admit it: I'd love it if I could have my figs displayed like this (and if my collection was more complete ) -
Selling sets minus minifigs
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to AwesomeTaylor's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I have similar needs to yours, but I think that the best solution is Bricklinking figs. It's less time consuming (although it depends on how many figs you are after), you won't have to sell anything and worry about lost packages and problems with buyers, and there's also the fact that you could wait for months before someone is willing to buy one of the sets. This would mean that you'd be short on cash for buying other figs, while if you Bricklink, you won't be depending on sales to be able to get other figs you want. -
The CMF collector's problem

This is something that I have always wondered. So which series were arranged in that way, as far as you know? -
That's a huge statement! Even Lego does 3D animations. I accept it if you say that you personally don't enjoy them, but that's far from saying they are not "worth watching". Some people probably took a long time to work on this...

I love Inception! It's one of my favorite movies, actually. This video is very well done. The car roll fight scene is good work, especially when you consider the complexity of the original one. Very enjoyable. Thanks for sharing it.

That's not the negative answer. For some people, the question simply just doesn't apply (some have pointed out in this topic that there is no "Lego Space Standards"). To see support for the theme, you have to substract that form the percentages. Still, only about half of the people who think the question applies support the theme completely, and I thought support for it was stronger. Also, it's not that much about like or dislike. It's about whether or not it's up to previous Space Themes.

Right, he was talking about series 2 in a discussion about the lack of codes of series 3. Correcting it right away. -
Lego has done such a great job keeping these hidden, that first, this is the longest we've waited for pics of figs, and it's the first time that we get to see only ONE SINGLE FIGURE on our first peek. Looks great. I'm SO hyped about September. I'll begin college at the same time when all these amazing sets are released. Just to remind me that I'm now on a very constrained budget ...

And a similar idea has been done before with Super D Star Wars figures. They aren't really stealing anything from Lego.

I'd have to disagree. The ADU clearly makes an homage to the Classic Space sets, but overall the designs seem very different to me than the original Classic Space sets. For that, you'd have to look at the Neo-Classic MOCs people have done, in my opinion. By the way, I'm surprised at the poll results so far. I thought support for the theme was stronger.

The CMF collector's problem
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in Special LEGO Themes
There are people who just buy X number of packets online and try to get a complete set. If I remember correctly, some guy talked at some fan convention about buying a huge number of bags (about 120?) from series 2, and complaining that he got no Spartans! However, there are some important points to make here. For instance, take S@H, where some time ago you had a top limit of 16 packets. Many people who expected to get a complete set only by buying 16 didn't know the low chances that they were taking. The bags are not that random, but at the same time, they could have been tampered with to take a specific fig out of them, as we have mentioned. So, you conclude the same point that we did. It's best to go bag feeling, eBaying, or Bricklinking. -

10228 Haunted House
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Ricecracker's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This set is beautiful!!!! But the price!!! WHY OH WHY? This is just as expensive as the UCS R2! That new Frankenstein monster sort of minifig is awesome. Now we got 4 variations. Great. And the outside details that make the house look kind of abandoned... Great. Can't wait to see the video. This is probably out of my budget anyways, but who said I can't drool over it?
