I remember the Rock Raider HQ set being on clearance forever at a toy store near my house, but that's anecdotal too.

Power Miners vs. Rock Raiders
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Right, Aanchir, I wasn't saying that homogeneity applied to most of the modern themes. I meant that it's found in a lot of modern themes including Mars Mission and Alien Conquest. The Classic Spacemen at least differed in colors. I just (personally) found the teams in some modern themes to be way too homogeneous, but that's a matter of personal taste. I prefer themes with more varied minifigs such as Monster Fighters or Adventurers. I guess that the Power Miners minifigs just didn't do it for me, although I'll say that the new Rock Monsters are superb, precisely because of the better color diversity in them. -
Not a set, but I got this sticker sheet:

I find it so hard to believe that Lego invested so much on creating sets, a story, and a game based on this theme, only to abandon it so quickly. Did it sell poorly?

Power Miners vs. Rock Raiders
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Looking back, although I was never a big fan of Power Miners, I do feel that the pictures Oky took do show the variety of the Rock Raiders figures in comparison with the Power Miners figs. And this is a complaint I have about a lot of Lego's modern themes: often times lot of the characters have the same uniform and look alike except for the head. -
Lego Rock Raiders HQ [MOC]
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to -DoNe-'s topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I realize this is an old thread and that you might no longer check this forum, but I stumbled upon this in Google image as I was feeding my nostalgia for Rock Raiders. First of all, nice collection (really envy that chrome crusher), and I love the display you made for these sets. I'm impressed by the way you made the rock and water with Lego parts, and that little cave! Thank you so much for sharing this piece of nostalgia with us! -
That's pretty sweet! Works like a charm, it seems!

Preventing Figure Crack?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Forresto's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'm just curious, has this been brought up to Lego through the embassy? I can't imagine them being unaware of this and/or doing nothing about it. Clearly something that used to work doesn't anymore. It has gotten to the point where I place only a few figures (that I have repeats of) in stands, because of fear of leg cracking. -
CMF Series 17 Guessing Game
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Seems like a lot of people are guessing the Pizza Suit guy. Hopefully it's as much on the minds of the designers at TLG and we'll see one soon. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The price hasn't ever been stable for six years. 2010: $1.99 2011: $2.99 starting with Series 3 2014: $3.99 starting with The Simpsons Series 2017: ? The price has never been stable for more than 3 years, and considering the last increase was 2 years ago, it hardly seems overdue. Maybe they want to jack up the price by $1 again because it will have been 3 years again. Personally I think that at $4 a piece for a single minifig, that's pretty close to the actual value of the figures, even though I've already had to accept a 100% price increase since I started collecting. -

No way... -
Well, in the case of the monorail tracks, they are made of several separately molded pieces of plastic. Perhaps coming from different batches causes different rates of yellowing. In the case of regular parts (made of a single mold) I have never heard of yellowing only happening on a single side when it wasn't due to the sun.

Post Your Superhero Minifig Collections Here!
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to c0rnedfr0g's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm a fan of organizing figs by affiliation/character rather than year. That does mean I have to "defragment" my collection every once in a while. I don't mind that too bad, since I love dedicating time to my minifigure collection. -

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Pretty popular in the country I'm originally from. In fact, a lot of people there seemed to like the series. And even if people don't celebrate Halloween, there are a lot of monster fans around the world. -
Monorail, will it return?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Daniel-Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Well, I honestly really hope that someday we´ll get a true Lego monorail. Who knows, maybe this whole Lego Disney partnership could eventually result in a small Disney monorail. I'd be very happy if that happened, assuming the new system does look like a monorail. -
LEGO Star Wars 2017 Pictures and Rumors
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Stash2Sixx's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Does anyone have any idea if the Maul figure will be new or the same as the most recent one? Regardless I hope it makes the price for Maul drop. I've had the old version for years and I've been wanting to update, but the prices are a little steep. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Maybe someone forgot to change the color from the prelim color before, and that's why we've been stuck with yellow. Could it be that they don't plan to change the bag colors anymore, sticking with yellow in secula secolorum? I hope not, as my reasoning would be that the colors serve to easily differentiate the bags from different series in store. I already thought I saw series 16 from afar in a Target that had series 12. -
Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
Back at the end of July when I was looking for S16 around me, I found a Target that only had old series: 12, 13, and Disney. I would advise you to just look at all the Targets, Walmarts, and Toys R Us in your area, until you eventually find something. Also, if you're willing to be ripped off, some small hobby stores that sell little amounts of Lego might have them. Just look around as much as possible! If all else fails, buy on the secondary market.- 4,155 replies

But modern bricks to suffer yellowing by UV exposure anyways, right? That's really disappointing to hear. I used to think that storing the sets away from light was enough to prevent them from yellowing. I'm assuming the fix is only temporarly, and that the oxidation will happen again eventually?
