True . I'm pretty sure that if this goes on at least until S8 we'll get a new ghost. After all, it's been a while since we get a horror figure. (Considering there are none in 6, unless of course you count the alien).

Some very interesting items there. I didn't know about the Japanese polybags.

REVIEW: 8684 LEGO Minifigures Series 2
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This review is one of the things that prompted me to start collecting all the Collectible Minifigures. I have now completed series 1-4, and series 5 is on its way to my hands. Thanks for this very complete review, which helped me to realise that there was more to CMFs than I thought. -
Choose your favourite Batman Villian!
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I find this interesting enough to do it. My vote goes of course to the Joker, since he's Batman's complete antithesis. Batman is serious, the Joker is not. Batman enforces law, and the Joker enforces chaos. How ever, both are arguably psichopaths, and they have very interesting similarities. I didn't take the Joker too seriously when I was younger, but after reading some comics and watching the 2008 Batman movie, I was convinced that the Joker is much more of a serious character than I had thought. It's a pity that the Joker is completely out of the picture from these movies now. -
REVIEW: 8804 LEGO Minifigures Series 4
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Before the series 6 pictures were leaked, this was by far my favorite series (actually I'm not that sure about which series I like best). The artist, monster, werewolf, hazmat suit guy, and punk rocker are my favorites. Let's hope Lego keeps it up! -
Very cool creation! (Pun intended ) To tell you the truth, I like the trans-orange version better. I like the design very much. Here's a few suggestions: -Since it's a fast spaceplane, it might be good to put some tiles instead of those plates, to give it a more sleek look. -Somehow, the middle part seems too long, in my opinion. Don't know how this could be addressed without losing sleekness. -I think that legs don't look so good on the minifig. Perhaps the new spaceman's legs could look better. Anyways, it's very good! I like it. Thanks for sharing!

Just closed a deal for all 16 sealed series 5 minifigures. Can't wait for them to arrive.

To me, there are a lot of logical inconsistencies in SW. Oh well, it's a movie... I guess I can tolerate that for a few hours if it means getting the thrill of SW.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Oh no, unfortunately no. I don't have the space or the money to keep my figures on display cases. I place my figures in small plastic baggies and then place them in a line in these cases. Not a perfect solution, or a very aesthetic one, but it is very space efficient and helps me find any figure fairly easily. If I ever have the economical and the physical conditions, I will buy cases that allow for display. -
 Sorry for that. You know what I meant, and it was not that Mace has a personality disorder.

Hi Pally, You might like reading this thread. Besides, there's a retailer image of series 6 here. Indeed, there is a Roman soldier. Cheers -
Single Pane Star Wars Funnies
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Great pun! I once tried to read this whole thread. When I was at about page 62, I thought "I will continue some other day". Unfortunately I forgot about it. -
Laughed so hard at the jokes. I think that there should have been a set for Mace vs. Windu. Alas, many great Episode III scenes never got a Lego set (until now). I think that your creation is very well done. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! It's so cool! It's elegant too. Looks very sleek. Can't believe you pulled it off at this scale. Kudos!

Recomendations
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Tazio's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi Javier, Nice to meet a fellow Latin American AFOL. Welcome back from the Dark Ages, and welcome to the forum! I don't know if you're into old sets, but my two favorite Technic sets are 8466 4 X 4 Off-Roader and 8480 Space Shuttle. Those are worth the hassle even if you get a used copy in good conditions. -
How open are you about your Lego passion?
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When my family went to the Lego store at Orlando (and it was the first Lego store we ever visited), I went crazy buying stuff. My mother and my sister, who were not that into Lego as my father and me, were attracted by the play area. Eventually, a guy who worked at the store offered a chair, and in no time they were playing with Lego pieces! I think that although if you tell many people that you are an AFOL, they might think that you are childish or strange, most people have enjoyed Lego, and would enjoy Lego if they gave themselves the chance. The problem is that we live in a society were there are many stupid rules, imposed by what most people do, but that actually make no sense at all. Who ever said that when we grow up we have to stop enjoying some of the good things in life? The worse thing is that we often participate in suppporting these social stereotypes. Anyways, I'm not open about my Lego passion, but I don't think that I hide it either. I just don't have many friends who enjoy Lego, and it's not something that can make a conversation with people who are not into it. But whenever I meet an AFOL, it's Lego conversation guaranteed. -
Partially discoloured part
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to brickmack's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Often, if a model is assembled in some way that exposes only a few areas of a part, and it is exposed to the sun, that area will get discoloured. I have seen this with a few used sets I own that are slightly discolored. Disassemble the set and you will have an ugly multicolor part. I find UV discoloring to be Lego's Achilles' heel. -
AFOL Basic Brick Set
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to distortme's topic in General LEGO Discussion
So we're taking over? [Evil laugh] Now speaking seriuosly, I think it's time that Lego begins to consider AFOLs more in its decisions. Many times we see that Lego's decisions are "because their target audience is children". Of course, children still make the greatest part of their consumers, but sometimes I just feel that us AFOLs are forgotten. (Of course, UCS sets are obviously not intended for children, but that's a whole other story). -
Thanks for sharing! I love the look that you were able to give to the car. Definitely has that 60s look to me. Love it!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yahoo! Finally closed a deal for these guys. Series 1: Complete. Series 2: Complete. Series 3: Complete. Series 4: Complete. Series 5: Awaiting Arrival 80 minifigures in all! Fantastic! And with series 6, we already have 96 amazing figs. If this really goes until 8, we'll have 128! I hope they keep up with the quality of the designs we already have seen, but if anyone can do that, it's Lego. On the other hand, I think that I'll have to purchase yet another case for minifigures ($15 for a 130 minifigure capacity box, not that bad), which means yet more crazy taxes and shipping costs for a plastic case. My room has a serious case of minifigure overpopulation. I still can't imagine how some people find ways to store literally thousands of minifigs. -
REVIEW: 9349 Fairytale and Historic Minifigure Set
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Pandora's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for the review! It's a real pity. This set could have been so much better, if the problems you have pointed out had been addressed. All male faces are the same? Back in the days of good ol' smiley () those kind of things were acceptable. Now, with all the printed faces, I'm afraid it is not. In addition, this set has too much plain torsos for my taste. Overall, I like the idea of this set, but I don't think that it was carried off in a satisfactory manner. Pity. -
Amusing shopping site finds
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That collection is sweet. At $2,900 and 166 figures, I wonder if it's really worth that. It does have some sealed figures, including the chrome C-3PO. I don't think it'll ever sell though. Huge minifigure lots as expensive as that one rarely ever get sold. I remember seeing a guy who was selling the almost complete Batman minifigure collection, at around $350. I think he never sold it. Edit: Found this incredible Darth Vader "megafigure" display. At 5K... What wouldn't I do if I was a millionaire?
