Looks very nice. It's very detailed. Thanks for sharing! As a suggestion, tiles instead of plates could look good on the building's corners. Also, I don't know if there are buildings with corners as this, but what I usually see is like what you would get if you placed each 1x1 plate next to a 1x2 plate. Keep us updated on your work! That station must be getting pretty neat!

Don't you dare to complain! There isn't a single official Lego store here. All we've got is resellers who double up all prices, have no pick-a-bricks, and have no awesome sets as that Super Star Destroyer assembled. You should all feel very lucky.

Great idea! It's very good. In particular, the water effect is very nicely done. However, I get the feeling that the water is separate from the ocean. It looks like the wave was isolated in the sand. Perhaps, as suggested before me, you can use blue tiles below the water. Thanks for sharing!

The title of this thread is slightly misleading, you know? The description helped me realize what this was about luckily enough! Your town block is certainly different from what we see most of the time. Most town designs seem to be idealized and slightly Utopian. Apart from being very realistic and full of detail and life, your design takes a different, more realistic approach. It's oustanding, and I can only thank you for sharing, because I have no criticisms or suggestions! Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see more of your town.

MOC: LEGO Calendar Upgrade
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Darkdragon's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Very clever and practical! Certainly saves you the hurt fingers at the end of each month! Thanks for sharing! The only think that I think might be added is some way to mark the days, as in a paper calendar. That would be neat too. -
Lego Universe Sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Captainmorgan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Indeed, I would love to see many of the LU minifigs on the real world! -
I have read this thread from first post to last post, and have found some very interesting info. The thing that I regret most is the info on transparent minifigs.

The first one, all the way! Very nice designs, and an amusing backstory. Thanks for sharing!

The curves on the front of the car look very good. I like the design. Thanks for sharing!

Nice! Thanks for sharing! Lego, we need a violin!

I loved Star Wars as a kid and in my early teens. Gradually, I stopped liking SW so much (resenting slightly that sort of blockbuster film feel that you get from it sometimes), and now I don't collect the sets. I do collect the minifigures, but that's probably mostly because of my minifigure interest. Currently, my favorite Lego theme is Space.

Collecting MISB sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
You do make a fair point. I've always thought that if I have a box and never open it, and the box has no parts in display (like many of the 80s and 90s sets), then there's not that much difference to me if the box was empty. However, I do understand that many do see a difference between having an empty Lego box and having a sealed box full of Lego. Old sealed sets do look beautiful after all, even in their boxes. Of course, that is not to say that I prefer the look of the boxes rather than the look of the sets. -
MOC: My Minifigure Display Stand
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Splat's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Looks very good! There's nothing like the look of many minifigures together. You seem to have found a very good solution. The display looks incredible. Can't wait for my series 5 minifigures to arrive and complete my collection. -
Collecting MISB sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
How do you all manage to keep your hands off from sets you want to open for so long? I have barely waited 4 months for a few sets because of space limitations. More often than not, I build a set and then, somehow, manage to do magic and find a place to store it. Not very wise... But I just can't resist the urge! Then again, I don't usually have repeats. If I had more than one set, then maybe I'd be able to resist the temptation longer. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
It just seems to me that he could've said that without actually meaning that the figs are being released in 2012. Just a possibility, so I would like to be sure before I get all hyped. -
LEGO Superheroes 2012 Rumours & Discussion
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Licensed
Although I'd like to believe this, I'm still not that convinced that this is true. I mean, first of all it doesn't say explicitly that we are getting the figures next year, and even if it did, it could be something that Huw believes... I don't know, I would just like some clarification on the matter. But believe me, I want this to be true. -
Space exploration does include exploration of other planets, which seems to be the purpose of Ice Planet. True, other good space themes included Space Police and didn't rely so heavily on exploration, but they were still set in deep space, as you say. For me, this is the real important component of space, not exploration, as I thought before. You're right in that our distinction is unprecise, so I think that I would make a distinction between themes that are closer to real life, and themes that seem to exist in a completely different fictional universe. The Mars themes of course take place in our same Solar System, and Alien Conquest on Earth. Many of us prefer themes that are not as related to "the real world". That's one of the reasons why I prefer SW over Star Trek. SW occurs in a different galaxy. Of course that we have the latin alphabet in older space themes, and some other aspects related to our world, but you didn't feel so close to your own reality. Although Classic Space took place greatly on the Moon, I don't feel there was such a strong emphasis on that as there was with the Mars themes, or Alien Conquest. Maybe it's an arbitrary personal preference, I don't know for certain. At least this is what I like, and please don't get me wrong: I don't mean to say that a theme is superior to other in absolute terms. I mean that I feel that these themes were not as good as the ones before (although I do feel that SPIII was "up to it".) I do agree on the fact that maybe people are too biased when they regard classic space as the best space theme. Some factors affect here, such as growing up with the theme, and having the common notion of "there will never be something better than the good old things". I include myself here. However, I don't feel that Alien Conquest addresses a vision of the future much better than classic space did. True, space exploration isn't regarded as novel today, but then again, an alien invasion, although depicting future technology, is not addressing so much our vision of the future, at least not in a better way than classic space still does.

Which 'Space' theme should LEGO revive?

Sounds like a great idea to me! Too bad Lego (claims that the company) doesn't accept suggestions. -

Collecting MISB sets

That "fun room" sounds awesome! It's very interesting to read about the different ways in which people enjoy Lego. I've had a fun time reading all the answers. -
Collecting MISB sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to 1980-Something-Space-Guy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When I look for a set, even if it is discontinued, I try to get it MISB, if I can afford it. I think that I collect much less sets than most people here (only own about 140), and I don't feel the desire to buy all good Lego sets even if I like them. So, there aren't that much sets I would like to buy from Lego's current waves right now. Furthermore, my main aim is minifigures. However, if I buy a MISB set, I open it! There's nothing like opening a box that has been sealed for decades. And I don't feel bad at all: since I would never sell it, I don't mind it losing commercial value. But you get play value and you get to see it displayed. Otherwise, there are pictures of sealed boxes of most sets on the internet. -
Wedding Table Decoration Set
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to lightningtiger's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I would love to see this on a wedding cake, even if it wasn't my own wedding. Sweet. -
Ahhh, the good times. I remember I played a lot with Lego mindstorms in my childhood and my pre-teens. Unfortunately, I don't see myself getting back into mindstorms any time soon. However, it gave me some good times, and I certainly hope that new generations are able to experience the same good, productive times I experienced.

So much lego! So little time!
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to mattech's topic in Hello! My name is...
Hi Matt! Welcome to the forum! You forgot to add to this topic's title: "So little money!" If only we all had less limited budgets! You'll find that time flies here. Enjoy!
