It's nice to have a source on that. Thanks. It doesn't bother me to have this theme, it bothers me to only have this theme as a space theme. It's not as much the fact that it happens on Earth, but that this theme doesn't address life in space as much as previous themes. As a result, for my taste, there is currently no theme in Lego which satisfies my desire for adventures in space. And as somebody who is not a fan of military, and actually feel some aversion for it, I most definitely don't like having a theme with such a strong military element. But that is another issue. My point is that for people like me (and I'm not alone), who want space themes that are more deeply related with space, there is no theme that suits that desire right now. And I think that many have a fair point when they mention this. It's not about whether or not it is considered a Space theme. I don't think that is the "big question" at all, because that is barely a technicism. It's about what fans feel they want, and I think that Lego might be failing slightly here in thinking that fans only want these space themes at this time. Of course, they probably don't think that it is worth the risk, and after all their main purpose is profit, but I think that it is evident that a considerable amount of fans would like a different space theme. And sure, many fans could still buy sets from a new space theme, because it's not all of them who want sets with present-day astronauts or sets that depict an alien invasion in near present day Earth.

Are these figures made of the normal Lego plastic, or the plastic we usually see in CMFs and magnet sets?

Indeed as you point out, there seems to be a taxonomical issue here. Many don't consider AQ to be a Space theme (I actually do but have my doubts). Nevertheless, somebody here said that it was Lego's classification, although I can't say so myself. If we only had the ADU, it would definitely be a city theme. The faction is militaristic, and doesn't have that "spacey" feel to it. On the other hand, the alien ships are most definitely space. So, City, Space, or hybrid? I don't know. Regardless, it seems that Lego feels that this theme fills up the place of a "space theme", and this is what bothers me.

Nice creation! Love the idea! Thanks for sharing. I also kind of get the feel that it is just too black. As has been suggested, light grey here and there could do the trick, although an interesting alternative is bright green here and there too (not necessarily trans-green). Let's keep Blacktron alive!

Bricklink orders!
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to davidmull's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I once had a package that didn't arrive for TWO MONTHS. It miracously appeared later... But I thought I would never see it again. Don't panic. Try to contact the seller. Worst case scenario, yes, the package got lost, and you'll have to buy the parts again. But it's not that moment yet. You should wait at least one more month before considering the package is lost. All these problems, although not predominant, do happen pretty often. -
Personally, although I missed the UFO theme entirely, I like it and always have done so. I find the color scheme to be very appealing. In addition, I love the patterns on the parts. I sometimes wish there were even bigger ships from UFO, but I think that the ships Lego released in the theme were very good. It's one of my favorite Space sets actually.

That's why I said, who knows what was on their plans for the future? We'll never know. The most we've known about is Seatron. Although, to tell you the truth, as much as I love the monorails, I don't wish for Lego to re-release them. I would rather have them release a more realistic monorail system, closer to the way in which they look in real life.

Hi! Nice to meet a fellow enthusiast! And I know about that Rubik's cube, but I still like it that way. There are other cubes some have made only with Lego parts, but alas, they're not as stable. May I ask, what is your favorite branch? Geometry, Number Theory, Algebra, Combinatorics, Game Theory, Mathematical Analysis, Topology...?

That's amazing! Thank you so much! I'm amazed at how you were able to deal with the change of proportions. -
I love Mathematics, especially recreational mathematics. How many other fans are around here? Here's a few Lego Math stuff I've found (none of which is mine), in case you love both Lego Rubik's Cube A Lego fractal Why did the chicken cross the Möbius strip? To get to the same side... Klein's Bottle More topological Lego creations Lego Penrose triangle Escher's "Relativity" in Lego So, any fans out there?

That's a great find!!! Thanks! I don't really understand why they designed an alternate switch piece. Seems to have the same shape, only a more complex design. It is more space efficient, though. It's great to see these parts, and I regret that they never got to be in sets. Who knows what were Lego's future plans for the monorail. A set using that cross piece would probably have a huge track.

REVIEW: 5985 - Space Police Central
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to CopMike's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nice, I hadn't noticed there was a review for this set. It hurts me to see Space Police go away so fast, because I'd have loved to have a bigger HQ. I don't feel like this set makes justice to the theme in that sense. Although I like the design, and love the vehicles , I always felt slightly disappointed with this set. Anyways, thanks for making this review one year ago! -

Sure it was! It even had the brown bridge there! -
Great topic! Let's see... From Marvel: Black Spider-man, Venom, maybe Carnage, a more classic Spider-man than what we got before, the Silver Surfer , the FF, Doctor Doom, and last but not least important IRON MAN!!!! (But luckily we will already get that one) From DC: Green Lantern (hopefully the same as seen on Comic-Con ), the Flash, and to tell you truth, although it's clearly not going to be on this theme, I'd love a V minifig.

Looks nice indeed. Nice custom R2, by the way. That's the way the droid should be. I love these minifigures, but I just can't buy them all! At least these pictures help me drool over this book and the minifigures that I'll never have. Thanks for sharing the pics!

Had never thought of this, but it is very true. Coincidence? -
It's a pity. Whereas some people make amazing stuff with the internet, such as online shopping, others use it for unscrupulous actions. I for one am tired of all these people who scam innocents taking advantage of their trust. Fortunately I have never been a victim of online scamming, but it just makes me sick to know that there are people who can live with themselves while doing this.

Yes, the normal skateboard piece. And sure! I also know that the proportions won't be the same, but that's okay. -
MOC: Amtrak AEM-7 and Amfleet Coach
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Shupp's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I'm very impressed by this creation. I have to admit that my favorite part is the locomotive. By the pictures, it looks like you were able to keep a high degree of accuracy. I love the way in which you were able to curve the front of the train. To tell you the truth, this is one of my favorite train MOCs so far. Thanks for sharing! -
Lego Universe Sets
1980-Something-Space-Guy replied to Captainmorgan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Does Lego actually listen to fan suggestions? You'd think that if they did, they would have already released a bunch of stuff from this game. -
Very nice MOC! I love the accuracy! Thanks for sharing! For Voldy's torso, this or this are probably the most accurate torsos you can get (switching the hands of course).
