  1. I also collect loose minifigs. Are you saying that Lego's ownership of BL is raising prices on BL?
  2. I've been hoping they use it as some sort of decoration. I actually got excited when I saw some of the Friends sets that came out this year, only to find out they were using round pieces that were not minifig heads...
  3. Dark turquoise is particularly frustrating. It's such a beautiful color!
  4. Here's hoping we did not just get another $1 increase!
  5. Bootleg minifigs are morally questionable at best. You reward those who steal from Lego. The fact that they aren't sold by any major retailers is telling.
  6. Well, this is what happened with the Disney series, especially the Toy Story characters. Personally, I don't mind, and I think each character should be done in the best way for that specific character.
  7. I think most of these look excellent!!! Also, I am very happy to see Marvin get his "skirt". Petunia is the only odd choice in my opinion. I am so glad these aren't based on Space Jam!
  8. Well, the Mysterio figure with the base is still technically exclusive to that set. But I agree that the value has gone down significantly. Should be good for those of us BLing figures!
  9. Great collection! Can't wait to see your Marvel figs!
  10. To anyone still holding out hope for 16 figures in the Marvel CMF, you should know that the Looney Tunes series will apparently have 12 figures, so it seems like the figure reduction is here to stay. (See Looney Tunes thread).
  11. That sounds like a well-funded program, if you were able to buy retired sets (even opened ones) with your stipend!
  12. Somehow I never found this thread, even though I am a huge minifig fan and love looking at other people's collections. An interesting aspect of this thread was looking at people's minifigures from different themes (as opposed to the threads in the Super Hero and Historical forums, which show collections specific to those themes). A "collection of collections", if you will! It would certainly be amazing to see what these "collections of collections" can look like today with the amount of themes and unique minifigs that exist (around 13K last time I checked). Personally, I really liked @gladiator's collection. It was particularly impressive and had many desirable figures from the time. What would an equivalent collection look like today, after we have gotten so many new licensed themes? I'd love to see some pictures, if any of our grand collectors feels like sharing!
  13. Oooooh, nice. You might want to post it here too:
  14. The weirdest thing is that he didn't have white eyes in the Lego Batman 3 videogame. Seeing what could be makes it painful to get him with white eyes yet again!
  15. For those of us unable to buy the magazine (never seen one of those in thd US), it does!
  16. Great, detailed review! Thanks for sharing the unboxing process for such an old set. It really is a shame that these days we don't have the box displays as Lego used to do. I think I really liked this set as a kid. But like you said, I think that ship has sailed for MISB sets, unless you are a really die-hard fan paying for a must-have set. By the way, how do you feel this set compares to Alien Avenger 6975? I really like the fiber optic design of this set, but the Alien Avenger seems like it has a more complete structure.
  17. Well, R2 was released 9 years ago, and he's getting a re-release. I'd say never say never, but there is no guarantee either.
  18. Ohhhh sweet. I can't remember the last time we got such new, main super heroes for this theme.
  19. Hmmm, not sure how I feel about the new head. Somehow, I feel the smoother edges bring more attention to the fact that the roundness is achieved by "countours", which my brain interprets as texture that does not exist in the original R2. What I like about the studded design is the studs help my brain interpret the head as a sphere.
  20. I think personally I would have liked something in the Saturn-V scale that included the booster rockets and the tank. Not sure if I dig this set enough to justify the space... Will try to take a look at a completed model, hopefully at a Lego store, hopefully soon!
  21. This is one of my favorite Space themes! I was always mesmerized by the alien figures, and really wanted to own some as a kid (but didn't find some until years later). I think they have aged quite well, to be honest! Looking back, I really like the intricate detailing, especially on the trans neon green windshields. I really like these designs, and I don't think the Alien Conquest UFOs ever measured up to those of this theme.
  22. Been waiting for those myself and paying close attention to this thread for that reason. Some Ninjago fig pieces from last year never made it to B&P.
  23. Awesome, thanks for the intel! Iron Man collectors, assemble!
