  1. I can kinda see where you’re going with this. The Giant Venom Mech is a really useful build and the figures in that set were fun. I think the venomized dino is fun if a little repetitive and I loved Spider Ham. But the 2013 Shield Car vs Venom and Daily Bugle will always be the best non MCU spidey sets for me. Or just give us a regular comic incarnation of Scarlet Witch. In the halloween costume you see the string around her neck and you can tell its a get up of her classic costume. I’d rather have a figure that is not based on Wanda wearing a costume similar to what she wore in the comics, but just her regular classic outfit. To each his own though. On the discourse of useless vehicles, I get how it’s necessary for lego because kids love this stuff. But don’t kids also like those giant oversized figures? Like the civil war ant-man or Ares builds. I’m sure Marvel and DC both have enough characters to do more of that. Brick built Galactus, Trigon (I always thought he’d make more sense being built like a Bionicle figure), Chemo and Giant Man. I’d like to see more sets on those guys. And also sets like the Monkey King Mech that have both vehicles and structures. We can do small builds of both. That has always been an option. If structures are too hard to incorporate in a SuperHeroes build why not just make it a super small side build alongside whatever mech they’re given? I’ve seen lego make builds that are “waste of parts “ before. Thoughts on how this would play out?
  2. It feels like every year is a year of a dying theme. Like the last few years of a theme that had its full run and is only receiving a small parting wave. Like the last 2 sponegebob sets. Not just King Shark but I want to see some big fig heroes. Marvel has Hulk as its big fig superhero of choice. But I’d like to see Swamp Thing (part brick build prt new mold, not really a big fig), Kilowog, Etrigan and King Shark. I’d love for a new Hawkgirl based on her more recent depictions with a new hair helmet mold. I’d love Black Canary in several different suits, a newer face print and the use of the new Hermione hair in blonde (as they gave to the promotional CW Supergirl figure). Add to that the new rubber hair piece used on the protagonist of the Lego Movie 2, I’d love to see that dual molded for Harley. Its the best pigtail piece lego has released. Also want her hyenas. Batgirl never really got justice as a figure, I like mine bc I combined the 2014 head and helmet with the movie torso and legs. Many people do that and it provide a pretty accurate and well printed modern Babs. But in many ways I don’t think she’s ever had an official release do her justice. So many Titans I want to see released in sets, with builds to match. I really want to see a lot out of this theme and it sucks how unlikely most of it is to be made.
  3. Well I think DC is also partly to blame. Rushing to release movies to compete with Marvel has only harmed the brand and made audiences feel opposed to DC’s content. Couple that with the decline in quality of their animated movies and their lack of animated shows, and you have a new generation of audiences with either no access to DC content; or subpar content. I would love for Lego to release a set with Fire, Ice, Captain Atom, Red Tornado, Raven, or Trigon. But without any new animated shows (not like Justice League Action where its 15 minute shorts with no exposition or character development, and not Teen Titans Go where its so immature) Lego has no incentive to release these characters. Apparently Toy brands across the board see Batman as their best seller, and audiences don’t respond well to non Batman related merchandise. How will Lego branch out to risky properties when they’re not even receiving a cartoon at least. it does feel helpless, however. Regardless of who you blame, its a shame we get such few new characters a year. Bronze Tiger was the only new figure in the last summer wave, Batgirl needed both a different hairpiece and dual molded/printed legs. It feels like at the pace we go, we won’t get teams like the Doom Patrol, Metal Men, or Justice Society any time soon.
  4. My thing is like, why would you? Whats the appeal. This almost irks me a bit because I would assume afol’s of all people would have a higher standard for the types of builds they receive from lego. Considering how many decades of source materials from comics we have, its almost infuriating for hardcore comics fans to never receive something even slightly accurate to a preexisting storyline. the X-Jet actually seems to be referencing All New All Different X-Men 98. Where Cyclops in his same costume, and Storm in hers, face off against the Sentinels. The new Wonder Woman set is a reference to a classic Wonder Woman comic. I think some of the best sets are ones that take direct inspo from Marvel/DC’s content. The useless vehicles contribute nothing to the world of Marvel or DC, don’t remind us of classic stories, and don’t typically bring refreshing character rosters. Why would I want to spend money on a build that has no practical display purpose, is not really useful for the type of world I want to flesh out for my heroes, and which comes with maybe 1 new figure at most? Its just weird someone over the age of 5 would enjoy repetitive figure selections and non applicable builds. Like idk I just want to hold Lego to a higher standard but to each his own and i’m happy someone is challenging my loud voice of dissatisfaction.
  5. You could at least appreciate the figures, no? I think the new War Machine, Modok, Captain Marvel, and Rescue really were useful contributions to the Marvel minifig gallery. The bar is low
  6. Unpopular opinion but the square enix sets were pretty good. I was excited to get a comic version of Rescue, Captain Marvel had an amazing new head mold, Modok was the best build we could have ever gotten for him, sure it was out of scale but the helicarrier was still nice to receive, and the hulkbuster is actually way more impressive in person. And the printing for Black Widow was perfect. Once I get Aprils hair from the Tanker truck TMNT movie set, I’ll have a comics accurate black widow. I actually think Lego has been giving Marvel fans what they want. the clear and obvious exception being the Spidey sets we’ve received these past few years. Not a huge fan of having Venom be the repetitive villain, not a fan of their omission of his back tentacles in most of his figures, not a fan of the vehicles or jets they give spidey to fight venom once again.
  7. I’m surprised there’s a market for these things at all. I didn’t know superhero fans were asking for cowl builds and head busts. Carnage also seems like a random character to receive one.
  8. Just found it actually. I don’t know. It floats between weird looking, to not that bad. The eyebrow arch over the eyes of the cowl makes it look a bit cartoony and angry. The actual cowl is not something I could even pretend to care about? Its Meh at best for whoever woke up and said “I really want to spend 40 bucks on a Batman cowl build”.
  9. Where is everyone finding the leak? I can’t find it on the legoleaks hashtag on instagram.
  10. What throws me off is I believe, I was just clarified that vidiyo will have a cmf series. Looking back at the reveal flyer that showed all the characters, it has a total of 12, just like a CMF series. It was also described as blind boxes but looking now its probably a standard cmf series. What confuses me about that is, I kniw we had a scheduled Looney Tunes, Marvel, and regular series. Is the Vidiyo cmf taking up the slot of the unlicensed minfig series this year? And then, the only sets we are getting is the beatboxes correct? Unless these 12 figures are the beatboxes. Then would the actual sets we receive for this theme have normal builds, or will they all be something small and repetitive? I’m looking forward for answers. Fourth figure from the start, right next to the Mohawk Shark, over the ghost woman. Surprised its a red panda just looked yellow to me. Either way he’s my favorite. Honestly this entire series harkens back to complaints I had about series 21. i complained that series 21 had too many city figures that looked basic and not collectible, and I debated with a few guys in that thread how a cmf series is more exciting when it has unique concepts and less standard looking figures. Low and behold here we have a Mohawk shark, a one eyed alien pianist, a break dancing bunny, a pink genie, and an ice cream headed man with cone pants. Everything I wanted out of a series is present here.the anthropomorphic animals, the non human characters occupying “normal” roles (alien pianist, werewolf drummer, saxophone playing ice cream man) the unique head molds the unusual combination of pieces. This series is really good imo. So good.
  11. I stand corrected the older Batman content has an audience. Still I feel at a loss of what even to say for this theme. Just tired of hoping the next year is better than the last.
  12. Blind boxes with no way of identifying the figure? Really hope this is a miscommunication because who wants to throw money until they finally get the figure they desire. Sounds so wasteful. With the CMF series, we have our hands to feel the shape of the figures pieces to figure out if our desired character is in a bag. With blind boxes it’s like, a risk of buying the product. And with the theme being unlicensed many people won’t see the necessity to finish this series in the way they’d feel compelled to finish a Marvel or Harry Potter series. really hope that as we learn more this series sounds more appealing. Also what kind of sets would the Mermaid come in? I’m assuming the only type of sets we’ll receive for this theme is the boom boxes correct? I’m so confused about this line all I hope is i can get these figures in an affordable fashion bc I really like most designs. The pom pom girl is a little tired though because her exact hair piece has been used already in the Ninjago cmf and her face print is a little unflattering imo as well as her having a less than refreshing color scheme. Would have loved for them to give us that hairpiece in maybe a shade of green and pink or orange. Her color scheme does her no favors. The yellow fox is definitely a standout and the Bellatrix looking ghost is okay. But they need to make these figures accessible because this theme is not going to be in high demand for people to just buy multiples of a blind box all willy nilly during a pandemic and without way of identifying the character. These figures are good, but not that good. Let’s see how this plays out.
  13. I take this as, its likely a Bat-mobile. I was hoping it’d be a new Arkham because I want anything other than a vehicle. With Wayne Manor, Jokerland, Penguins Ice Lounge, Mr. Freeze’s lair, Ivy’s botanical gardens, there’s still plenty of Batman content to make. I’d hate to see it go to another batmobile, but with you saying all options are on the table who knows what we may be getting. In some ways I kind of want them to make the 66 Batmobile because I really want to put this phase of DC sets behind us. I want to stop revisiting the 60’s and 80’s by making huge vehicles for shows or movies no one cares about anymore. If this does go to an Adam West or Tim Burton Batman property it finishes up whatever content may be demanded for that so we can start focusing our D2C’s on interesting concepts. Do you guys think a Joker Land would sell well? Not sure how the Joker Manor or 2015 Jokerland sold but I think if bulked out and built with good detail and a new area of joker gang figures, it would be popular. Also think other Gotham city locations would be of interest to audiences too.
  14. Even then we won’t know until every figure leaks or the official images drop. We could have a MCU Peggy Carter leak and seemingly confirm the series will be cinematic based, but then the official images drop and its a split batch. Unless we see everything, we can’t look at one leak and be like yup this is the direction we’re taking. First harry Potter series focused on 2 franchises. The DC series was split 8 new characters, 8 variants. I’m hoping we get both. (Or just comics)
  15. What does GWP stand for? The purple headed character in question uses a purple mold for Iron Man’s head. What if this leak is for Vidiyo or some other non superhero related theme? Not sure where they’d squeeze prowler and honestly think he’d be a waste of a CMF slot. But what if its going to Ninjago or Monkey Kid? Definitely looks in line with designs they’ve used for those themes villains before. As for Korg, I know we for some reason concluded he wouldn’t come in the CMF series, but assuming he’s not released in the Shang-Chi sets, I’d be happy to see him in the CMF series. Yes he’s MCU based, but requires a new mold, is a very unique looking figure and absolutely fills a void in our missing MCU figure slots. I’d rather get an original character like him over another Tony or War Machine figure.
  16. Thanks for the reply. What a shame, I literally just started viewing Lego elves set reviews and actually really like the theme. I think I always get into themes as they retire.
  17. I’m surprised anyone even thought this. At best I feel maybe we’d get a normal set, but for a D2C, it’s almost expected to go to the MCU. To add to potential failures of the blackbird, consider the lackluster choice of not only Cyclops, but the unimpressive hair choice on Storm. Kind of wish she got a new mold. But also if the set sold poorly thats the clear answer for why we got no new mold. What bugs me most is there are no MCU mutant films in the making for at least the next 2 years. What I wish Marvel would do is invest in some great animators to make a new X-Men cartoon and introduce the team to newer generations the way many Superheroes were initially introduced to the public eye, the old school route. Thats right cartoons, maybe then we could have some X-Men content while the MCU focuses on other heroes. And on that note, literally still scratching my head over what this D2C will be. Obviously not X-Men or F4. The character roster is definitely either Avengers or Spiderman. Most likely MCU based. But like, what? I’m pretty excited, for whatever it may be. If anything, just because we never get Marvel D2C’s. The Hulkbuster is, in my opinion, sooo lame. The Helicarrier is nice considering it gets the look right. But it’s also not to minifigure scale. If they did do a minifig scale set, that would be our first minifigure scale Marvel D2C right? I complain about it going to the MCU but also what would it be if it were comic based? The Avengers Mansion is not in the public conscious and has many different interpretations, Stark Tower is most recognizable in its cinematic interpretation, and without the aforementioned teams, the X-Mansion and Baxter Building are out of question. A giant Infinity Gauntlet would be a let down, but very in line with sets like the Carnage Bust and Hulkbuster. I can possibly see it being End-Game final battle, but also feel they could recreate that at a 100-150 price points t how spread out a lot of the build would be. It can literally be anything. And in many ways I feel it will disappoint regardless, but also have some charm to it.
  18. Where is the Elves thread for 2020 and 2021 sets? Elves is listed as an Action and Adventure theme but i cannot find the thread on the action forums.
  19. Well technically the Blackbird was the worst selling Marvel set of 2014. Which 1st of all, the SpiderCopter and Spidey-trike vs Electro was released that year, so that fact never ceases to amaze me. But second of all, Marvel is a generally well performing theme. I imagine the standards are different? Like the worst selling Marvel set is probably still a better performer than some of the most popular Lone Ranger sets. An example, that I’m aware is probably wrong, but just a point of reference that a Marvel set selling poorly in comparison to other Marvel sets isn’t the same thing as “this set sold poorly”. Does that make sense? Maybe someone more familiar with the sales info of 2014 can correct me, maybe the X-Jet sold poorly objectively. Which again, with the 2014 Winter Wave, I wonder how thats possible. A year packed with new additions to the franchise. Sets that revisit old films as well as new comic properties being covered. I want Marvel Now designs of Ant-Man, Wasp, Scarlet Witch and Vision, but also classic designs of each. I want 90’s costumes for some characters and teams. Classic and modern. Some characters I’d like to see in so many different suits I’m not sure where to start. So basically, old MCU sets that cover anything missing, and comic sets that aren’t aimed at Spider-Man. And if the Avengers are the heroes in question, I’d like to see comic incarnations of Avengers yet to be adapted in that form. Namely Ant-Man and Wasp, but I’m hoping we finally get Punisher, Cloak/Dagger, and Elektra sprinkled in as well. just like, a really big year that covers a lot. At the pace of comic sets we get, and the current direction they’re taking, I’d like next year to be an opportunity for them to produce content they’ve been slacking on. Empty my bank account Lego, I’m more than willing to throw money at good sets.
  20. Isn’t there an untitled Disney Plus set scheduled for release? Who’s to say that won’t go to Wandavision. I think it’s far too early in the year to discard any potential set.
  21. Apparently we can get 2 for 1. In that instance I’m sold, I didn’t take into consideration how Ninjago was revisiting old concepts along with the golden figure. Idea!! What if they use it as an opportunity to release official versions of much longed for SDCC figures. Phoenix and SpiderWoman feel like must haves in my Marvel collection what if part of the gimmick is we get dual molded printed figures of each dropped in a set? Like happy anniversary here’s accessible figures of previously hard to get characters. I think in the superhero genre, that’d be much more effective than a golden figure. Again all just ideas Lego Marvel hasn’t typically let me down so I’m sure something fun will come of it. or, a possibility, they do not commemorate the 10 year anniversary at all. I’m sure at DC at least we will get no sort of celebration.
  22. Eh, I’d like some sort of promotional event, but not gold figures. Maybe just a larger wave with more sets that cover the ground a lot of the previous sets didn’t cover. I’d rather sets that revisit old MCU films and comic sets that cover heroes yet to he seen in comic form over golden figures. Like instead of any particular gimmick, why don’t they just make it a bigger year? I’d rather have a humungous wave to cover Marvel over golden figures.
  23. Not 2021 related but I just finished the Helicarrier build from 2020. Overall it captures the silhouette of the build perfectly and it certainly looks like a Helicarrier. I’m planning on modifying the floor plan for the cage used for MODOK to accommodate for more figures. The play feature of the rolling wheels activating the spinning turbines is pretty weak and I think in retrospect, if the space used for the mechanical feature was instead used as interior space I think I would appreciate the build more. It’s not bad but I see how many are unsatisfied with it. play feature is weak and could have been used for more interior space. On that note I recognize how difficult it is to interpret the helicarrier of any size into lego because of how massive the actual model is and how minimizing it to an affordable set will sacrifice a lot of key components of such a large ship. Love the figures if anything a little bitter Iron Man and Black Widow appeared so much in this wave. In this set I would not have been mad at Black Widow’s spot being given to someone else, but I’m also not familiar with the character roster for the game.
  24. I suggested a Jedi Temple because her council scenes were ones she was most prominent in. I could also see them adding her onto any random vehicle set, because why not?
  25. It’s like, sue me for having some type of hope that Lego would throw us a bone at least once. Yes it’s delusional at this point but I had hope Lego would try and do a little something to spice up this theme. call me crazy but I had hope and in some ways still do that Lego would do more for DC than just Bat-Man a vehicle at least once. Even on the topic of Batman, we can get a Wayne manor, Jokerland, Penguins Ice Parlor, Ivy’s botanical gardens, Ace Chemicals or a joker hideout at a toy factory or ice cream manufacturer. Why must it always be a batvehicle? And if we’re going to get repetitive figures they could still add more printing. this theme sucks from all angles and I consistently wait to see if Lego improves at least one of those things with each wave that releases. Maybe this time we’ll get better printing, more new figs, a refreshing build, there’s so much lacking I hate being scolded for expressing disappointment in Lego’s inability to fix at least one of the many flaws in how DC sets are currently produced.
