  1. A large 200-400 dollar Totans Tower with detailed floors and a modular closed build that can open up, training room and several figures would be nice. A brick built Trigon set would be great too. Figures I want: Starfire - Big Poofy Hair mold Raven white suit Raven regular suit - using new hood piece, Dr. Light (villain) Beast Boy - using elves hairpiece spikey hair and in a lighter green skin tone, with his red and white suit Wally West Rebirth The Question The Vixen Animal Man Steel Mr. Terrific Hawk & Dove Fire Ice Donna Troy Cassandra Cain Spoiler Anarchy Professor Pyg Victor Zazz Star Sapphire Fatality Bleez Atrocitus Arkillo Lyssa Drak Kilowag Blue Devil Firestorm silver and dark red suit (leg printing) Joker/Two-Face/Penguin Goons Selena Kyle Power Girl Amanda Waller WildCat Jade Kyle Rayner Big Barda Grandma Goodness Terry McGuinness Batman Beyond Ink Kalibak Mantis Mad Harriet Lashina comic parademons Feel free to add on but these characters should come in sets not polybags and minifigure series. This theme could be so much more I want to go crazy over new lego sets not feel like i already own them :/
  2. X-Men. God I was so surprised to hear the X-Jet sold poorly. Even though I resented the design choice for Cyclops and wanted Storm to have a new hair mold I literally squealed at the news of a new X-Men set. I guess the X-Men don’t sell well with Lego but that’s a shame because they’re practically all I want at this point. THIS IS ALL I WANT!! I would like, several, however. Like multiple waves. I want Gamora in her purple and white jumpsuit but maybe also in her blue and red bodysuit, I’d like a few variants of Star-lord as well as figures from the original lineup. Characters I want in comic form: Daredevil Elektra Kingpin Punisher Black Cat Lizard Gamora Star Lord Drax Groot Rocket Mantis (!!) Nebula Scarlet Witch Vision Valkyrie Mystique Sue Storm Invisible Woman Mr. Fantastic Johnny Storm Human Torch Jessica Wild Spiderwoman (we got Green Arrow and Shazam in sets so don’t tell me we can’t get Spiderwoman in a set). Jean Grey Ice Man Angel Pyro Toad Blob Rhino big fig Shocker comics Agent Venom The Thing as a member of the Guardians Bishop The Thing as a member of the Fantastic Four Bag-Head Spiderman Kitty Pride Jubilee Colossus Emma Frost Cable Domino Galactus Silver Surfer We’ve gotten like 4 waves now of just spiderman versus Venom and I really feel, during a time where no movie is being released, Lego should spoil us with some comic variants of unreleased characters. I‘d have thrown money at Lego these past few waves if instead of say, Spiderman in a vehicle against a villain we’ve gotten before in the exact same print, Daredevil or Punisher or Gamora versus new villains in fun new costumes. Like does Lego think a set with a useless vehicle and no new figures will bring them the revenue that an exciting build with new characters could bring?
  3. I had to go back to the original comment to see if I really said “more unique” and saw that the entire comment was more along the lines of, and not exactly “the more unique the better” and as far as I’m concerned the original comment in its entirety was grammatically correct? If anyone wants to chime in the comment was on the last page. on the note of non human figures in strange roles not being viable, we got a monkey king, a ghost knight, non human characters engaging in whatever behavior have existed in lego for a while all I said was more figures like that and less costumed figures. We’ve gotten lion people before idk why a lion barber is so crazy? Like has anyone seen halloweentown? But even if the examples I gave are too extreme consider why, if we’ve already gotten an alien thug, why an alien ballerina is too strange for kids to be interested in? Whatever I rest my case but still think it would be fun.
  4. I will say however, we did get a Monkey King and a Ghost knight in Series 19, so it’s not like we’ve never seen these peculiar concepts toyed with in Lego. We’ve also gotten plenty of non human figures like Yeti’s and Gingerbread men and aliens. Who’s to say an alien in a series has to be in a space suit with a laser gun as opposed to an alien gangster akin to the ones from space police, or an alien filling out a human like role, like a cop or a dancer? I disagree with your word choice random bc these intersections of concepts and ideas and themes have been done before and can be done in a cohesive way. We’ve gotten alien villains and gangsters before so toying with other professions/roles for aliens to take up doesn’t sound crazy to me. And bite me but I enjoyed the zombie cheerleader lol. It was something new also Chima was an entire theme dedicated to anthropomorphic figures and I loved it. Would not mind at all a Tiger-Man randomly appearing in a series. Chima was the theme in particular that normalized animal-people in Lego for me and would much rather see a return to that form of character than just a person dressed as something. There are references for how Lego can and have done this and for me it worked and I would like to see more of that creativity here. You obviously disagree but I think Lego has done similar stuff enough in the past to make it work here.
  5. We can agree to disagree. I understand the reasoning and respect it but I am more comfortable and excited by out of the box, niche, and unique concepts as opposed to repeated tropes done in different ways. A lady-bug person alone like an alien race of ladybug people sounds fun to me. I can see how adding superhero elements and armored elements to already strange concepts can sound like too much but the more unique and out of left field the figure is, the more I think I’ll enjoy it. Plus I love science fiction and think figures representing random races or species dressed in really any attire serve a huge functional purpose for how I like to display. Any pink or green skinned character can be an alien. It’s peculiar I agree but it’s what would excite me in particular.
  6. Would love to see Sweet Mayhems hair piece used on Harley Quinn. I noticed the pigtails have a line down their mold and it would be awesome if it was designed as a mold that could be dual molded in future uses. A half pink half blue rubber pigtail piece for Harley would look amazing. Also never going to happen but if we got her hyenas in a set too that’d be awesome.
  7. A few things.I can’t speak for anyone else on what they’d like to see change but the ideas I bring forward is a greater volume of newer characters introduced annually as well as a more accurate print with greater attention to detail on the figures. I also want builds that focus more on relevant source materials and yes, structures. Looking at other Lego lines, creator for example. The modular sets are typically aimed at older builders but sets like the family house are aimed at builders age 8-12. A set like that meets the quality of build I would demand. Lego does not have to focus their sets on an adult population to improve its quality. Comparing the Creator Family House 31012 to this years Spider Base build, the 2013 Creator set is more intricate in its build and was $70 upon release compared to the overpriced and simplified build we get for e in 2021. My point is Lego sets don’t have to be 18+ to have good builds. If anything Lego has gone down in quality and simplified their builds over time, and a return to sets being under $100 and still meeting a size able build with a reasonable price per piece is what we want.
  8. I mean Series 18 was when I said they better tone down the release of these costume figures. At this point any animal or mythical creature can be a costume so the appearance of a costumed figure upsets me bc its such an easy way to fill up a series since you can be a costume of practically anything. I’d rather have a Lady-Bug humanoid in a superhero costume or a Dog-Man in battle armor than a guy in a dog suit or a girl in a ladybug outfit. but liking S19 had more to do with the Johnny Thunder Fig, rainbow bear who I pretend is a care bear and the monkey king and space villain figures. And the dog walker!! and on a note more relevant to this topic the more I look at this series the more I hate it. The pilot girl is too generic in face print, tired of the surfer, castaway looks too generic, the violin boy is just a city fig with a new mold, very few feel unique and a simple smiley face seems to dominate the facial print for the series. It’s too redundant and simple for me. This series isn’t it.
  9. Can Lego please adopt this! My biggest concern right now is official Lego designers hearing the overwhelming dissatisfaction with the theme and taking notes. This isn’t any license, it’s one of their biggest! And if the excuse for why its so poorly handled is the demographic then surely we need to change that demographic! Either Lego could 1. Increase the volume of sets. Produce more sets to focus on more obscure characters and complex builds as well as the childish sets we get now. 2. keep the normal volume of sets but instead of making sets for kids and adults, simply raise the targeted age of this theme overall. Similarly to Harry Potter this theme should no longer appeal to young kids and focus instead on appealing to older builders altogether. With an occasional 4+ set this could work for Lego. Either way we need more mature sets. More complex with different characters used. Can’t say I’m mad if it comes at the expense of spider vehicles
  10. I for one, am happy the set did not include a car because I feel it would be a waste of build. I do however think some form of a garage would have felt appropriate. Nonetheless I am satisfied with the final product and appreciate the approach they took. However I wish the two side builds, the pink and green builds, were wider. Even if it came at the cost of the set. The green building looks too thin to even be a building and is kind of an eyesore for me. The assembly square is sort of a good example of how to do multiple buildings, but without taking such a drastic approach even widening the width of each building by 3 studs would do wonders. I would widen the green building some more and include a staircase as well. Perhaps it would cost more but since the release of the Ghost Busters Firehouse I have come to expect or hope for Lego buildings with staircases inside. These criticisms may have raised the price of the final product but I cannot say I would care. I am honestly upset by the side builds. Alternatively, I am usually opposed to modifying modular buildings but for the first time ever I actually feel compelled to customize this build to widen the green building. Otherwise I absolutely love the architecture and color scheme of the set and can’t wait to own it! This line is the best! Lego releasing modular buildings is the coolest thing they’ve done this past decade.
  11. I also feel it is important to have these conversations because the Lego brand needs to be aware of the dissatisfaction and criticism of their job with one of their biggest properties. I don’t understand how this theme can at times have such low quality when the brand brings to my what could be one of their greatest products? Like this is comic books in the era of the MCU and comic nerdness at an all time high. This is an era where the market is huge for both Lego and Marvel, standards for the fusion of both should be high considering how greatly Lego has treated past licensed themes such as LoTR and Overwatch, Harry Potter. If I was an executive at Marvel I’d be yelling at Lego for not giving me my bucks worth when they gave other licenses high quality sets. I’d demand more! Remember the hype Lego gave us with that first Avengers wave? How excited we all were for the years to come and the additions we would see? An inclusion of an X-Men set had me dreaming of X-Men Lego sets. I’m a HUGE X-Men fan and would throw money at anything Lego x-Men. I imagined a world where several years down the line I’d have an amazing character roster. And in many ways that’s true, but not without saying we couldn’t have more. I mean no new characters besides the Ghost Rider? Lizard, Black Cat, Rhino classic, we have new figures yet to be seen for Spiderman. But this year is another wasted winter wave. All I’m saying is this theme is popular enough to get as many sets as Harry Potter and Star Wars, with the same quality too. The more new figures they put out the more money they’d make. And in comics you practically have an endless supply. lastly, (oops another long comment) I would like to know if it is an administrative decision to rarely branch outside a select roster of characters, or a personal choice taken on by designers. Like is a higher up at either Marvel or Lego instructing set builders to reuse the same characters or is it happening by chance? Because unless there’s a licensing issue could anyone imagine a higher up wanting a repetitive character roster? Maybe they don’t think other properties would sell? Like why are we getting waves like this, where every build sucks and no figure interests me? Like sorry to be such a negative voice in this thread but who’s idea was it to do what they do?
  12. Thanks for letting me know. Still no formal sets aimed at regular audiences. I have grown to resent the 4+ sets bc it kills the excitement of a mystery set number to find out it’s a 4+. I happen to completely agree with this. When it comes to quality of print on the mini-figure, minifigure selection, set build, prices, I happen to view both themes as overpriced (at times not always), poor mini figure selection and bad builds. I feel unmotivated to collect my favorite theme. But as I said before it does not have to be like this. I mean if Star Wars is popular enough to be a staple theme and Overwatch has enough fans to warrant a budget where most figures have great printing quality then surely superheroes should have a similar market? People say superheroes has poor figure printing and lack of new molds because of a low budget. My question is why? Surely Superheroes has just as big if mot a bigger fan base then Harry Potter and Star Wars yet our theme gets treated like an in house theme ready to be retired as opposed to an evergreen theme with high market value. I think I’m going to create a petition one day because I cannot be convinced audiences at large of any age group are genuinely satisfied with the current handling of either superhero theme.
  13. My point exactly! But it doesn’t have to be this way. Marvel has a very popular character roster with audiences familiar with many marvel property. Lego has so much room for expansion and innovation in this theme. I can see how an MCU wave would excite people but I prefer comic designs for figures and toys. This wave every figure had been released in some way before. But thats not necessary. We haven’t gotten every Spiderman villain (looking at you Lizard) or every Avenger (cough Moon Knight cough). When a comic wave is released it COULD be an opportunity to released well detailed quality printed characters new to the theme. Spiderwoman can still be made as a regular figure no? I would love to see her in a set with a different hair piece dual molded legs and better print overall. Even characters we already got would be interesting in comic form. I would love a comic accurate Thor wave with a pigtailed Valkyrie and a well printed Loki fig. Comic versions of the Guardians are particularly high on my list of what Lego should produce. Comic waves have been nothing but useless vehicles and repetitive characters so they don’t excite people. But what if they were movie -like sets with both mini structures in vehicle based sets and a higher ratio of structures in waves all-together as well as introducing several new characters. I mean imagine how excited AFOL’s would be to have a random wave hit shelves with comic accurate Scarlet Witch, Vision, Spider-Woman, Moon Knight, Gamora and more. I can’t be the only person who thinks that would be the most exciting wave to collect? If handled different this property would probably make Lego twice the money they make on it now. But I may never know.
  14. What sets are they? Edit: I think these two sets are not normal sets correct? It’s a Juniors or Duplo set no?
  15. For any moderator viewing this, I could not find a single thread for everyone to comment their wishlist on, if there is one feel more than free to merge this as a comment on the official thread. As the title indicates I noticed several individual topics for people creating ideas for a mini figure series and I think a more effective way to have those discussions would be to have a single thread as opposed to several. My biggest pitch to this Theme is to start producing unconventional characters that audiences have no preconceived ideas about. Pink, blue, green skinned characters with wings and tails and other nonhuman combinations in assorted costumes and outfits. Warrior fairy, alien spies, anthropomorphic animals, the potential for new figures exists as long as Lego chooses to produce new characters in conceptual ways. will comment an official mini-figure ideas seperately as I gather my thoughts. Also if there was no formal mini-figure ideas thread mods could also merge other threads made for mini figures ideas into this one if they wanted.
  16. Can’t say I totally agree with this comparison. I was as tired of costumes last series as I was now, but prefer the Fox and Pizza Guy over the Pug Guy and LadyBug Girl. By this point I’d be more interested in abstract concepts than rehashed tropes already established in literature and media. If it was a Chima like Lady-Bug humanoid I’d be much more excited. The Fox Lady of last series wasn’t as bad imo. Yes last series had a fair share of city figs but they felt more unique. Firefighter had a new hair piece and an uncommon color print for firefighters. The grandma has eccentric hair and a flamingo, the video gamer a high quality print and mold. This series has too many smiling faces which makes the batch look less unique in both character and print. Comparing the faces of this series to series 19 I notice an immediate difference in variety of facial expressions and I notice almost all happy faces in this batch. Moving forward with this line I think Lego still has plenty of potential if they themselves start to think outside the box. I think I’ll post to the ideas thread to share some of my opinions. All in all though, I am stocked for the warrior and cop figures, and actually happy I don’t feel compelled to buy many figs because it will save me money.
  17. Well ideally we’d have more by now. We’ve received a decent roster of DC figs but most were introduced in a polybag, Lego Batman Movie or a minifigure series. DC sets themselves are actually fairly repetitive with their character roster. Take this summer wave for example. Bronze Tiger was the only new character and he was very simple in his design. 2 comic waves is not enough for me and I guess I may have overestimated what this theme would have been by now. Bigger waves with more sets and less focus on Batman is what I want instead of Batman waves in 2-3 sets with maybe 1 new fig among the batch. Well google says the Batman is pushed to 2022. So if these two sets were planned for the movie that would still mean a year of no sets bc I am assuming Lego would withhold the sets until the release of the film? I pray Lego releases a rushed JL wave to fill the empty slot of sets this year. As I said in one of my earlier incomprehensibly long rants, DC is partly to blame for this. The quality of animated movies has diminished over these past 10 years as has their cartoon animation. Teen Titans Go, and DC superhero girls are both aimed at a much younger audience than the Justice League Unlimited, Batman Beyond and other animations of the early 2000’s. Without producing interesting and quality content regarding their lesser known characters, entire generations of kids are only going to have Marvel movies as a good reference for comic characters and further diminish the DC brand to just Batman. If DC launched a new interconnected animated universe of mature and well animated storylines Lego would have more incentive to give us lesser known characters. That said I cannot be convinced the Teen Titans haven’t been marketed enough to warrant their own sets.
  18. I’m going to start by saying Series 19 was one of the best series in recent memory. I thought series 20 was good enough and loved the Viking and Power Ranger figures. This series is one of the most underwhelming of the entire theme. Possibly my absolute least favorite series ever 1. Paddle-Boarder - Scuba/Beach figures are a clear sign of lack of ideas. That is all 2. Carnival Singer - One of the best this series but I don’t plan on keeping that skirt piece 3. Pilot girl - So much wrong. Tired of the usual smiley face, the collectible figures used to feel like unique characters and a print with maybe sweat and binoculars would have excited me more. Overall uninterested in the concept. 4. Beach Bum - New mold is exciting but I have no interest in anything but the animal this figure is so city and so casual 1/10 5. Centaur - She’d do good if she had the long ponytail piece the Genie and Dino Tracker figures has. With a printed on Tiara and some unique facial expressions this figure would increase in quality. Printed hooves on the feet of the centaur and a tail colored different than the body like Harry potter centaurs had. Also wish she had a different weapon or even a different skin tone. I would like Lego to feel comfortable expanding on established concepts and giving us blue centaurs with wings or vampire rockstars with hooves. The more unique the better in my book. Dislike the smile dislike the hair dislike the accessories uninterested in the torso print. A miss with potential. 6. Beekeeper - Standout. Won’t buy him but he’s a solid addition to the franchise and one of the few that carry this wave 7. Ladybug girl - unpopular opinion but I have completely fallen tired of the costumes. 8. pug guy - instead of animal suited characters they should release anthropomorphic characters like in Chima. I’d rather have a dogman character than a guy in a dog suit. Seriously less human in suits and more just completely non human figures please. 9. Aztec Warrior - Best of the wave super excited for him 10. Space Riot Police - Solid figure with good printing with a smart take on how to produce a cop figure in 2020 11. Violin Kid - Happy for the violin but the kid is too city and not collectible enough. Doesn’t feel unique or original. Smiling face boy with casual clothing. If it was an older man dressed in concert gear with maybe a stressed face and a calm face with a character description of a concert player nervous for his big show, this figure would have been pulled off right. As it is I hate this figure. 12. Alien crook - Meh to the head mold but I appreciate the Yeti’s and the Aliens and the Gargoyles of this theme. By virtue of him being a non human character I am okay with his release. Decent print.
  19. A few bulletin points of help needed. 1. how do I quote, in my phone, select pieces of someones post? Lets say I want to reply to a comment point by point and I’m quoting, right now the quote button on my phone has me responding to the entire comment, how can I cut comments into pieces and quote them that way, on a phone? 2. Link to the tutorial for attaching images using imgur?
  20. Hello all, a few questions about Bricklink. 1. I am interested in ordering several SDCC superhero minifigures from Bricklink. In the event that I order it and it either does not arrive or is not real, am i entitled a complete refund? 2. Is it possible for some or even all listings of a particular SDCC figure be fake or fraudulent? Meaning if there’s only 2 Green Arrows is it possible both are scams? 3. Does Bricklink have a system to hold fake sellers accountable? And has anyone bought an SDCC figure online before? What sellers do you trust for SDCC figures? I felt like eventually all the figures would be bought up
  21. Is this theme on track to be cancelled? A year with no sets sends a very bad message. Surely we won’t know until rumors for the 2022 sets come around. But this is a very disappointing year so far for this theme unless somehow the mystery $300 set goes to DC. Actually even that would suck because every time DC gives us an expensive sets its just an oversized vehicle with a few figures that never excite me. So not only would it be a let down not to get a new marvel D2C but even worse if it ends up being a huge bat vehicle with no functioning purpose besides being a good display piece. DC only focusing on Batman is due to a theory that only he sells correct? Is there sales data to reinforce that kid don’t want DC universe characters in sets? Is there any functional way for me to communicate with Lego? Like an email I could send or would creating a petition work? I’m considering ways to voice my dissatisfaction with this theme to the company. Any ideas on what would be an appropriate and effective way to do it? call me crazy but I think comic based Teen Titans waves and Justice League waves would sell well.
  22. I just wish they’d completely change their approach to the theme. I get most excited when we have a wave with no movie release because in years like 2013 we got a cool Daily Bugle set with Nova and a Nick Fury car on one of our first comic/cartoon based Marvel waves of this theme. It set the bar high for me because I envisioned the Lego group using these waves to introduce new characters. that said, whatever this set is I hope it’s a structure. I have become so bored with all these useless vehicles it seems both themes have become mainly vehicle based sets. Is there still no confirmation on if it’s Marvel? DC got 2 D2C’s haven’t they? But still no official word on what theme it’ll go to correct? Just wish these past few waves were used to give us Elektra, Moon Knight, Punisher, or a comic Thor wave or comic based Guardians sets. The cinematic universe made many characters household names and I actually reckon a spontaneous wave of comic Gamora, Groot, and Starlord on shelves would excite both kids and Afols more than a wave full of characters we’ve already gotten (and most in better variants too). Meaning if these sets had a different character roster they probably would sell better for Lego. A theory.
  23. Hey AFOL’s. Cosmic is a username I took out of surprise no one else had chosen it! In spirit of my username I take massive interest in space themes and science fiction themes. This is actually my second account because (funny story actually) I could not remember any details of my original account and the email that I used for it had been deleted. Floridian here with a Tendency to ramble, I think I’ll refrain from getting personal about work and life as thats not really a point of interest in making this account. i pray that the rambles I make about the direction of the company could at least signal to the Lego group what older audiences would like to see. I look forward to getting to know you presumably also awkward young adults haha and hopefully I get to talk to a Lego representative and inspire some change. in all honesty I was drawn back to the forum after never really growing out of my interest for lego and eventually stockpiling enough opinions on recent waves to bring my rants back to a forum I had browsed for years. Again lost complete access to my old account and never used it much anyways. But dissatisfaction with enough sets had led me to come back here and see how other afols felt about similar issues. Cheers to making a eurobricks account because you felt compelled to criticize Lego on a platform where they just might here you! Stay safe afols
  24. Does anyone know if we will ever be able to get X-Men and F4 sets? Are those completely put of the picture? I think it’s annoying to bring up so much negativity but also unproductive to not criticize a wave. I’ll try to make this short cause I basically ranted about this to the DC forum. A lack of structures is annoying to me, but if we have to get vehicles I think I would appreciate the vehicles making sense. The Ghost Rider car makes sense but would have been more exciting if the villain was new. Lizard or King Pin or even shocker. Spiderman should not be the side superhero especially if he is the focus of the rest of the wave. I guess kids wouldn’t buy a set with Punisher and Ghost Rider or Daredevil and Ghost Rider but I certainly would. The monster truck is where lego starts to lose me. Not only is the set pointless but I have every character in a better variant already. Lego would do good to replace these mechs with battle packs, really start to amp up the amount of new figures we get and focus on more structures for this theme. Electra, Punisher, DareDevil, Moon Knight, Cloak & Dagger, Spiderwoman (with dual molded legs this time and higher quality please do not give us an SDCC figure in lower quality like we got with Green Arrow). There are still new characters I think can be reasonably released. The X-Men and the Fantastic Four would also take all my money no matter how crappy the build was but I reckon that can’t happen bc of licensing issues. But if Lego give us the same characters bc its safe then we should remember that the MCU made plenty of characters household names and I reason that a comic based guardians wave or comic based Thor sets would still sell. A comic based Asgard D2C accompanying a wave of comic based Thor sets would be so colorful and exciting. And the property is one most audiences are already familiar with. Unlike DC who’s movies mostly tanked and doesn’t maintain a strong animated presence anymore, Marvels properties have really taken a household status and I personally see no excuse to constantly focus on Spiderman. And even still, Rhino has yet to be made a big figure, Lizard as well, we have yet to see a Gwen Stacy figure and Mary Jane can still be made in many ways. If we’re to focus on one thing can we at least spice that up? The same over at DC. They only focus on one property and its so narrow the direction of both themes. Over there its different bc of DC’s inability to market themselves to newer audiences. But over here I feel like we have more to see and audiences are very comfortable with a lot of source material at Marvel. If anything Lego should feel more risky with who we get in this theme. Finally I would like to say I am deeply interested in the point of view kids have on this theme. If I was able to I would have collected Lego my entire life and if I was 12 I know I would still have disliked this wave and sought no interest in purchasing it. My mentality has always been to avoid purchasing sets if I already had the figures and didn’t need the build. This is applicable to every set this wave. I reason at least some kids out there feel like Lego could do more with this theme. Again, Marvel and DC are some of Lego’s strongest licenses and if handled properly could be some of its best themes. There’s a lot of directions this theme could take but oversimplified builds centered on a cast we already have neither introducing mew characters nor builds that actually relate to the comics leads to waves that feel like missed opportunities. Lego Marvel can do so much better and fans know enough of these characters that I think making comic based waves at the quality of themes like Overwatch and Harry Potter (model themes imo thats why I constantly use them as examples) would sell like hotcakes.
  25. Thanks for the replies. A general anxiety I have about specifically the Superheroes theme, but in general when I see such overpriced sets with minimal builds, is how much we will be made to pay for large substantial builds. I will reiterate a previous sentiment that I wish they would raise the age for this theme. Harry Potter is understood to have more complex sets bc of the older age group its targeting correct? I really wish Lego treated this property the way they treated Harry Potter. Part of the blame is on Warner Bros. As a kid in the early 2000s we had a Legion of Superheroes cartoon, a Justice League Unlimited cartoon, Static Shock and re runs of all the older cartoons. Not to mention the early to mid 2000’s was a peak for DC animation movie wise. We had a lot more exposure to DC characters. If DC produced more cartoons for cartoon Network and expanded their audience to a newer generation of kids then maybe Lego could have more incentive to sell obscure characters in their sets. I think Lego thinks only Batman will sell bc without any other superhero in contact of todays kids, they fear DC doesn’t have the same kind of brand familiarity to carry itself? But even still I will give some criticism because Lego, if you are reading this, I was never as excited about a theme as I was about the release of this one, and somehow I have become depressed with the outlook for this theme. Please consider taking notes from the fans because Lego I would pay an arm and a leg for this license if it was handled correctly. 1. Produce more sets. This theme has consistently felt under produced especially when compared to the Marvel theme for me. Without the Lego movie and the Lego Batman movies and polybags and book promos we wouldn’t have most pf the extended cast we have now. Jessica Cruz, Plastic Man, polybags. Hawkgirl, Black Canary, the Wonder Twins -> TLBM. John Stewart was released in a book. You get the idea, a good share of DC’s extended cast has not been released via a normal DC set. The regular DC line has not drifted from Batman for years but even within his own realm he has untapped potential and the company was rehashing concepts year after year. I was a relatively poor kid growing up and I still had opportunity to request a toy from time to time. If I was in a wealthy household I would definitely have collected Lego every year through my upbringing. Lets say I was a kid in 2012. Age 5. By now I would only be 13 and by geeky nerdy self would definitely still be collecting. If I reviewed the content of this theme over the course of those years, I would have a lot of sets and even waves that I would skip bc I simply had the characters in that wave already and hd no interest in the builds. Often times I would already have the build as well. If Lego produces few sets for this theme can they at least focus on newer characters? The ventriloquist, Solomon Grundy, Baby Doll, Joker Gang and really unique Joker goon figures, Bat-wing, Batman Beyond, Cassandra Cain, Spoiler, Anarchy, Lady Shiva, League of Assasins. Do little kids really only enjoy vehicles? Again I remember being a kid and wanting both structures and playsets out of Lego just as much as I desired a vehicle. If anything I personally always drew myself to playsets and structures. From a young age I always wanted houses and banks for my city as well as temples and castles for my fantasy builds. I don’t know how true it is that little kids don’t want Hall of Justices or Secret lairs or Titans Towers but I most certainly would freak out in pure joy if I was a 10 year old kid being gifted a $200 Titans Tower D2C with plenty of new figures. I don’t think I would be that excited about oversized models of vehicles used in DC movies decades ago. So for me personally the pure focus on Batman and his vehicles would have disappointed me at any age. I would be sad to find out little kids these days really have no interest in the DC brand. Regardless focusing the character roster in the waves they do release to feature a mostly new cast with the same characters at least having detailed new variants, it could help spice ip the theme. And again if DC had more cartoons on air that were more mature (Teen Titans Go and DC superhero girls are super immature to me and wouldn’t intrigue me to get to know the DC brand at all. Even Justice League Action wasn’t up to par for me. To simplify this point give us lore DC content but if you’re going to give us a little change up what we get. Always getting the same cast even with different variants loses you costumers. I’ve skipped so many sets for this reason. I want this theme to empty my pockets!! 2. Diversify the theme. Similar to my last suggestion of increasing the overall volume of sets we receive, I actually started to make this poi t without realizing It should be it’s own thing. Examples of this include giving us waves with mostly new figures, not just waves where there’s only a few. New characters to be specific. If we only get 3 sets every villain and some of the heroes should be new. A wave with only one new set should be all new figures otherwise you alienate your base. I am your bass Lego and I feel alienated! I would pay all my money for this theme if it produced plentiful of new and fresh sets. A Teen Titans wave wouldn’t sell? Kids don’t want a wave of sets focused on them? I couldn’t imagine that, it would be a fever dream for me as a kid. Same with the Legion of Doom, Metal Men, Legion of Superheroes, Doom Patrol. Seeing these teams in sets would excite me! If Lego expanded its roster of characters even a little I would be more motivated to pickup sets. But in diversifying the theme it also diversifying the builds. I also somewhat covered this before but sets with structures, bases, hideouts, lairs, even housing complexes or buildings like lex corp or star labs. Or sets based around giant characters like Giganta or Trigon. DC’s lack of visibility is again a recurring reason for why we don’t receive much content but again it’d be nice if Lego made some sort of effort to give us non Batman centric characters. 3. Raise the recommended age for this theme and target young comic book readers. The comic book and nerd market may be suffering under covid and may not be as huge as I’m envisioning it to be but I think young adults would certainly buy complex DC builds in the way they currently buy Harry potter builds. I would hope so at least. The same way Lego has a modular buildings theme it’d be nice to see a Lego DC Buildings subtheme. Like an annual set dedicated to this subtheme would be enough. Like roughly 100-150 dollars for a standard set. Wayne Tower and Lexcorp come to mind. But even a modular series of Arkham with an attachment released every year or so to make a huge fully modular Arkham. Same with Wayne Mansion. This theme has so many structures that have the potential to be some of the best playsets. I predict some will complain about me complaining about the theme. But I hope most of you will encourage open messages to the Lego group because one way or another I want them to get the message. They could do better with this theme and we saw that with how awesome Cloud City was for Star Wars and how impressive the Overwatch second wave was and all the additions the the Harry Potter theme. Lego can and has produced high quality sets for some lucrative themes and if they did that with DC I would be one very happy camper. Give us more, change up what you give us and throw some apples at the older audience of this theme. The direction of Batman and vehicles has bored me. He still has villains we haven‘t seen, there are still parts of Gotham we haven’t seen (D2C $300 JokerLand set, anyone?). Make the theme more mature and please stop with pointless sets like these new superhero mechs. A cool gimmick would be battle packs for DC like how Star Wars has battle packs. Hive battle pack or a Parademon battle pack. Assuming people only want Batmobiles and Batwings and and characters with no detailed print is wrong. I think some of us want the opposite. At least I do. A wave of 6-7 sets with highly detailed minifigures with mostly new additions and the pre existing characters having new variants and the sets being detailed structures relevant to the source material not pointless vehicles is what I want. Focus on characters outside of what we usually get with big detailed builds and good print quality is what I want. Please Lego don’t let this license drop to a competitor you have the potential to do wonders with this theme. That is all for now but I feel strongly about this.
