My bad. It may have not been confirmed I just figured thats all this theme is anymore.
-
@RedHoodPug what do you mean by full sets and mixed numbers?
-
What do you mean no idea? We know its a bat vehicle
-
To add to that, this is an especially risky theme to price sets so high for. Not only do fans have no connection with the source material, the blind boxes push financially cautious costumers away, but its being released during troubling economic times globally. Lego has already made some pretty bad decisions with this theme and honestly its a shame because the designs are so good, making them blind bags and lowering the set prices just a little would do so much for the sales, at least I reason that to be the case.

They switch between having a multiverse to sharing a universe between movies based on how successful an individual movie is. The announcements of pursuing projects like the Amazon Movie and the Batgirl Beyond speaks to how out of touch Warner is with fans. The upcoming Snyder cut seems to just capitalize on the issues of the first film as opposed to fixing them. If the first movie was a convoluted mess that threw too many characters at once while using bad graphics to animate an otherwise dull world, this movie is just more characters and doubling down on the ultra dark color palette while providing less time to elaborate on details that shouldn’t have been kept in the first place. And while many projects are in announcement I have faith that DC will continuously misrepresent characters and misunderstand the source material as well as rushing storylines without providing the context and character development to enjoy those storylines as well as building up hype. Marvel’s approach may not be a universally good fit but elaborating on characters and using multiple movies to flesh them out and build up towards big moments by having a lot of context as to who we’re dealing with is a smart approach and if DC were smart 1.the slew of upcoming movies would sound cohesive if not smart choices to gradually introduce new characters to audiences in a digestible way that not only fleshes out the DC universe but exposes concepts to people in an order that by the time say a Green Lantern cameo happens in the Justice League, we already have an understanding of who he is and what he does. DC may have a plan but I have no faith in it and while they don’t NEED to go the MCU route, they should take notes on expanding their characters and not rushing to pump out big blockbuster teamups so early without giving us a reason to care for the heroes teaming up. Agree to disagree I sense a mod coming to tell us this is not Lego related. I believe we have 2 mystery sets coming out this summer no? A D2C and a normal set correct? Are we getting at least one regular retail release this year? Not a juniors, minifg pack or cowl build, but a regular minifig scale set? I think we have one coming, no?
-
DC has a plan for their movies? All their upcoming announcements sound like they have no cohesive plan for their universe, I recently saw a tweet that within Warner Bros, DCEU is not even a term being used for their shared cinematic industry, and they’ve taken the multiverse approach and dividing their shared universe based on how each film is, while also not having a formula for a successful film. DC needs to stop making movies each bad addition only tears the brand down some more. I agree with others in that talking the movies may seem superficially unrelated to Lego but the truth is Lego’s releases for this theme are directly correlated to the commercial success of its cinematic universe. Which speaks volumes as to why we get so little. Fingers crossed we begin to see some change. I have so many ideas of how to spice up this theme. So many ideas

Agreed, from what we’ve seen of the beatboxes $20 seems just a bit too steep. Considering all the new molds it makes some sense but I think a $5 difference would mean a lot. Gonna have to wait till they go on clearance perhaps.

Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion
cosmic replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
Oh my goodness finally!! This is such a strong and promising year for lego city. While themes like Star Wars and DC Superheroes feel like shadows of their former selves, city has really improved drastically over the years. Can’t wait for the new lion mold, can’t wait for the elephant. I was actually just thinking about how many new animal molds I wanted to see in Lego. Excited for the monkey, if its one piece I wonder what pose it will be in, I really would love to see a modern take on the sort of climbing monkey mold Lego used to use in the 90’s (?). Hoping the builds are all exciting because I will gleefully throw money at this. Can’t say City has been slacking because the hospital that released in 2014? I believe was very impressive, the 2013 city square was amazing and this theme always has a few gems hidden even in waves I otherwise disregarded. I actually may end up collecting most of this wave and I hope the nature conservation subtheme sticks around. Artic got a little old but was handled well when they did it. Fire and Police sell well obviously and have had both good and repetitive releases but this? Oh my goodness this needs to stick around. Not sure what other potential city subthemes I’d ask for. If the theme looks to depict real world scenarios in play settings, Police/Fire make sense, Artic exploration was as expanded as it could get, but I’d say I could feasibly see them producing sets based on farming like they did in 2010, and maybe more hospital themed sets with a wave dedicated to first responders saving in the same way that we have received sets with firefighters and police to the rescue. Imagine sets with nurses doctors, medics, and other specialists engaging in life saving behaviors in different locations responding to different incidents. Picture a small rock build depicting a mountainous opening, a figure with their arm logged in, a small tent for on scene medics to perform surgery, lots of tools and a small helicopter that airlifted them down to perform a life saving procedure. Maybe I’m delusional but I’d enjoy a subtheme exploring medics in the way we’ve received other professions at the center of City. Also maybe botanists and like a plant themed wave, with small outdoor gardening sets, a botanical garden mega set, and other nature themed sets. Animals I think are some of the easiest ways to incorporate nature but I hope we continue seeing lego explore different sub themes for city. Also forgive me if this was all redundant I am unaware if Lego city has had an animal rescue subtheme before. Ghhh and the lion!! Cannot wait for the lion. -
LEGO Ninjago 2021
cosmic replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Unfortunately going to side with this. As someone who is new to the site but has browsed for years, fake leakers are almost like a norm for this site. I’m sure there’s a chance you are a legit leaker, but we have trusted sources in this community and while I don’t frequent this sub forum as often I believe Ninjago has had a fair share of consistent leakers the community can turn to for confirmation. -
Funny, your favorite 2 are among the only 3 I disliked in the series, along with the pom pom girl. In the beat boxes, the mermaid for sure. In the minifigure series, easily the Genie, but the yellow leopard (?) bunny girl and mohawk shark are all must haves. The bunny girl reminds me of Fabuland and older cartoons and she has a strong nostalgic feel that makes her so unique. The yellow leopard reminds me of the mascots at Dandy Bear when I was a kid and the Mohawk Shark is so whacky. Its a shame they come in boxes I was very interested in this series.

Lego downgrades all their figures and the theme continuously releases figures with less detail than their original release. Apparently the Batman was pushed back and subsequently its Lego wave as well. So I believe we have a confirmed wave for that. It’s also always possible but unlikely that Lego will hear our complaints and improve on the theme. If its selling poorly maybe invest in better builds and better printing and more figures because fans are telling you they would buy that. The counterargument to this is that no Justice League wave has ever sold well. That is surprising to me because the rushed albeit impressive 2015 wave was one of the best in my eyes. It seems this theme is selling poorly but what drives me insane is we have no insight into how bad. Since I can’t speak to specifics I’ll say I have hope Lego may eventually turn the tide should they choose to keep this theme. But every year I brace myself for the announcement of its cancellation.

Seems like hot glue used on a display piece at a Lego store.
-
Agree to disagree because I love this pirate. The teal mohawk, the anchor shaped guitar, its very fitting for this theme and very unique. I can see how he’s of little use to pirate fans however. Love the mermaid she is a definitely a standout. Honestly all the figures this series are great I wish they’d release in bags because I want to collect most of the series. And yes I know the figures leaked come in sets not the mystery boxes my point still stands. Very this. I have not made a mistake in feeling a figure since probably my second year of feeling and I would pick this series ip enthusiastically if I could discern the ones I didn’t want. Lego should have foretold that instead of being a good marketing ploy to get people to buy multiples, it would push consumers away who didn’t want to take a financial risk.

What bothers me about this is the assumption that Zack Snyder has ever read a comic in his life. Warner Bros and DC execs have squeezed the brand value and cultural significance of the DC universe in less than a decade. The announcement of projects like Batgirl Beyond speak to how tone deaf the management is over how fans receive things. Aquaman felt like an early 2000’s film and the visuals, for all they were hyped up for were bad. BvS crammed too much into one film, characters were neither developed nor accurately depicted. Shoving a big bad like Doomsday out of nowhere in the beginning of the heroes journeys shows a lack of understanding of the timing in which the character was used in his most impressive appearances, and how much had already been established by then. This entire universe is directionless, misusing characters, poorly edited, cheap looking, everything about it is bad. And to think DC comics are on the edge of being let go by AT&T due to low sales. So many people at this company need to go. The public deserve high quality DC films. I actually enjoy DC’s content and universe so much more than Marvel I truly believe if DC films were made at the same quality (not better or worse) compared to Marvels fans would overwhelmingly lean DC i. The way they currently lean Marvel, because if done right, DC’s universe has so much more to offer (in my opinion, feel free to disagree). DC needs a few things. A break between this upcoming train wreck and whenever they decide to reboot the universe, assuming they’ve settled down and created a long term goal for how the story arcs will play out. Better CGI. If Warner Bros can make Harry Potter and Jurassic World they’ve certainly got the CGI department down right and they’re really rude for hiding their tech from DC because right now the movies look like an early 2000’s video game with bad lighting. They need to spend at least 5-7 years on this cinematic break and focus on releasing well produced highly detailed cartoons that can reach both kids and young adults (its been done just look at Justice League Unlimited and Batman the Animated Series) and reintroduce their universe to a newer generation of fans. And when they get their new cinematic universe up and running the goal should be to make great additions to cinema like Steven Spielberg or Woody Allen (many other examples to use) not try and make good superhero movies, but just good movies. They also need to listen carefully to what fans want. I really want them to just announce the end of the universe bc at this point every bad, rushed, poorly cast film with a sloppy plot and directionless take is o ly doing harm to the brand name and we need to preserve our audiences instead of continuously pumping cash grabs that just push them away.

Not if the figure has the dark brown hair, I’m sure MCU fans can pretend its light brown ;) -

By that logic yes, Lego is notorious for skipping out on detailed printing and accuracy, so the costumes wre similiar enough that the end result would probably be the same. Except the hair would have to be a different color. What surprises me the most is we only have one rumoured Disney Plus set coming, and people are guessing it may go to Ms. Marvel over Wandavision. I really thought the non MCU sets this wave would be for the Disney Plus shows. And Wandavision of all shows, I figured they would capitalize on. In many ways I still think the untitled Avengers sets may end up being Disney Plus sets. If they’re not, it’d be interesting to see if they do loose tie ins. Like the year Suicide Squad came out we got a Deadshot and Harley Quinn set. Maybe we’ll get Disney plus heroes in sets but its not based on the show? Just theories the entirety of this years summer wave is a big mystery to me. Kind of hope we finally get a Spiderwoman thats easily accessible some time soon. I think she’s popular enough to deserve to be in every fans lego collection. And I know this isn’t a wishlist thread but I’ll finish by saying I hope we get a Squirrel Girl in this years CMF series. -
No, no they have not. The CMF’s where I shop are on display and able to be picked up and felt around. The package that leaked for this was a mystery box. Like a normal toy box but without specifics of whats inside. The CMF series has never and is still not like this I could go to any Target and feel for the content of a Series 21 bag and successfully bring home my desired figure (I’ve basically mastered the art of bag feeling). The vidiyi series is different in that, so far I have no way of telling who I’m getting. I may end up cutting some boxes open and taking what I like bc this is lame.

Hate it. Hate this entire universe. Not sure what determines the quality of CGI, if its the amount of editors you hire or a software that ypu purchase but DC really needs to step the CGI game up. There’s no excuse for a 2020 movie to look this bad. Its all so forced and rushed, getting us to save a universe they did nothing to make us care for, packing so many origins into the original justice league and just rushing this universe does nothing but put a sour note in my mouth. It feels directionless, cheap, misunderstanding the audience and source material, rushed, low quality. The DC cinematic universe makes me so angry.

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Not literally. Wandavision Scarlet has light brown hair (almost dark blonde tbh) and comics Scarlet has dark brown hair. Wanda has a tie around her neck insinuating a halloween cape in the show, her classic comic fit has no such thing and instead is wearing an actual cape. Good printing would capture those differences. I think my dream comic Scarlet Witch would be her mostly entirely red bodysuit without the red leotard and light pink leggings, but her almost armored and dark red suit from the early 2000’s (see Avengers disassembled). Anybody else think the Mad Harriet hairpiece from the DC superheroes line would work well for Polaris? Kept going back to that minidoll wondering how it could be repurposed and I think the mold would be perfect for Polaris. -
Either way its so counterintuitive to release them in mystery boxes with no way of identifying the inside packages. It’s pushing away potential costumers like me who don’t want to risk getting a figure we don’t want so we spare our money on wht we otherwise would have purchased. Hopefully we can do a little scan with the vidiyo app (its an app to isn’t it?) and see who’s inside because this is otherwise just bad marketing. Its so useless and does nothing but frustrate costumers who don’t want every figure in a series Ugh

How bad exactly does this theme sell? I know Marvel sets were some of Legos highest performing in recent years. I’m curious to where exactly we fall on the sales spectrum of Lego sets. Apparently the theme is underperforming but to what degree? Is it an objectively poor selling theme? In which case why hasn’t it been canceled? Are the sales good enough to keep around, where can i find sales data for Lego’s themes and compare them on an annual basis. Wondering what Lego considers a strong and poor performing theme and where DC falls into that.

What if we get a comic Wanda in the CMF series that introduces the headpiece which is then reused for a Wandavision set featuring her halloween costume. I’ve been dying for a comic Scarlet Witch so I think this can appease both fans. Also why else would a Spiderman set releasing around the time of a new Spiderman movie go to anything other than that movie? Especially when we already got a winter wave of “comic” Spidey sets. -
If a second DC minifigure series released, I’d hope they’d raise the figure count to at least 16. Licensed series should not receive small series. Here’s a rough draft of my anticipated releases 1. Superman Red Son, printed 2 by 4 tile with the cover of the comic 2. Wonder Woman Challenge of the Gods 1987 costume (Series 10 Athena helmet/hairmold), spear, and shield 3. Batman Beyond with optional wing mold, new helmet mold. 4. Firestorm Futures End Redesign. Blast pieces included 5. Harley Quinn - Injustice costume with the new Pigtail piece from TLM2, and a new hyena mold, baseball bat 6. Classic Starfire - new big poofy red hair mold, blast pieces in green 7. Ares - new helmet mold, shoulder armor, cape, and axe build 8. Bronze Tiger - (tiger design unsure which exact universe its from) new tiger head mold, wolverine claws 9. Mr. Myzptlk - new hair mold similar to the grandpa and Crusty, side growing grey hair on a bald cap with a hat on. Orange umbrella and the new hairy potter moveable short legs 10. Jade - white and green costume. Lantern ring and green blast pieces, Anna’s hair from Lego friends in a dark green 11. Alan Scott - classic , lantern ring and upper and lower cape pieces 12. The Question - no new pieces, hat, and gun accesories 13. Black Lightning - with Falcons hair piece, printed legs and small lightning pieces 14. Red Tornado - new tornado leg piece similar to the Sandman lower half piece used in Nexo Knights but depicting wind. 15. Wally West - Titans costume, new hair and goggles mould 16. Big Barda - new hair mold and sword piece. Used the first DC series as a template. Half new figures (9-16) half variants (1-8) plenty of accessories to justify the price point, 9 have new pieces, many figures here mirror ones released in the first batch.

Yeah saw an instagram image that leaked the packaging for the Bandmates and its a mystery box. I guess if it has codes you can scan for the correct character that would be a redeeming factor. But a mystery box is a hard pass for me unless there’s a way to differentiate the figures in the box. I love this batch of characters but will not be buying multiples in hopes of completing the series. It would be a shame because the designs are all things I’ve been craving from a CMF series.

Because I forgot about the bridge. The bridge, Doc Oc and Ghost Riser sets were indeed the best. I am so angry I never bought the bridge I was in love with it when it first came out and time just flew before it got discontinued. I never pursued it but it was the best. I have the Ghost Rider set and its one of my favorites. The Doc Oc set is also a favorite, his machine feels so authentic to his character, White Tiger was a great figure to get, Captain Stacy was refreshing and the build was solid. Whatever year that was, definitely ruled. It just slipped my mind. Hehe
