  1. Hi “that guy” here. I may have misunderstood the finality of these rumors and I believe AT&T is definitely eyeing DC but nothing is final. My understanding though is the sales of the new releases are going to be scrutinized by AT&T and I’m not sure how you only found one website? Many YouTube channels and comic sites have reported on this. I was mistaken in thinking it was final, but the future of DC comics is anything but absolute and these rumblings did not come out of nowhere.
  2. Look it up. DC currently has no exec’s as they were all purged and very reliable sources from inside the company have stated this. The only publisher, Jim Lee I believe has announced his leaving of the company. They will continue to print classics I believe but no new issues. It’s been a rumor for some time but the recent company purges as well as the departure of its only publisher left, and the fact that these claims were made by Dan Sciver (artist at DC) and AT&T has been rumored to be considering this for a while. Google this, it’s not absolute but the writing is on the wall.
  3. Trust me I hear you. A pin could drop and I mention how this theme is likely over. However something is different now than before, AT&T has announced that DC comics will stop publishing comics in June. Apparently the comics industry is dying during the pandemic and DC comics are no longer profitable for AT&T. Pair the death of DC comics with their less than stellar movies and non existent animated universe and you get a brand that has almost no modern cultural value besides what it carried over from other decades. Its largely due to management but this brand is dying and if headlines regarding DC in other industries are any indication, the idea that this theme can be discontinued is not only likely, but reinvigorated by recent news. And yes I’m sad about all of it.
  4. It just seems like a waste of plastic and I remember a time when Lego sold figures in one bag and thats the standard CMF pack. I can’t say the extra packaging has had any impact other than using more plastic.
  5. What an amazing series! I wish @Robert8 worked for Lego these designs are so good. You do a really good job of working with existing tropeswhile bringing concepts not yet utilized by TLG. It shows how much potential for new ideas this theme still has. Individual thoughts 1. Time Traveler - Really hope Lego steals this exact look. All of them really haha I want to buy all of these. Love the gun, aesthetic choices and steampunk influence 2. Representation matters. The guide dog is already a thing in City I believe? The guide stick could be an existing mould I believe? But it all plays together well. Reminds me of the broken leg guy from Series 16 (?). 3. Humpty Dumpty fell into a resume bin and got hired at Lego. Seriously can you work for them. Favorite of the batch and its a strong batch 4. Need the cat mould. Feels somewhat James Bond somewhat Austin Powers. 5. Farmer Girl - simple yet fun to look at 6. is the island king helmet mould one from the 80’s/90’s? Feels familiar. well done with the tiki statue accessory 7. How have we never gotten a maid? She looks perfect if we ever got one I’d hate for them to stray from this design. 8. Instantly recognized the sailor moon reference. Love the hair and the unique trope influence. 9. Hypnotizing! The eyes are mesmerizing and the cloth skirt piece works wonderfully. 10. Crocodile with a Captain Hook reference? It makes it a more interesting costume considering how little I enjoy costumed figures anymore 11. Didn’t know Athena made this curse but love the final product and would again like to see it in real Lego. 12. Love that hair mould!! 13. Checkmate, winning design haha 14. composed a great body print lol. This is how we should have gotten the violin mould! Not some kid in normal clothes. Look at the detail on that leg print 15. Food delivery guy is a good nod to modern delivery drivers and I appreciate it 16. So creative. Is Lady Liberty our most recent inanimate mini figure? Love the influence in something like a trophy for a character it shows a strong creative process Please apply to the Lego group. I want to buy all these designs.
  6. I recently noticed this and thought it was odd. All the mini figures in the DC Series came within other bags and I was confused. I thought I somehow got a knock off brand? I didn’t realize when Lego began to do this and thought it only made sense for like cape pieces maybe.
  7. Hope the distribution is consistent. This Series is a must have for me. They laughed when I asked for a werewolf barber but we are receiving a Red Panda musician and a bunny girl!! My dreams have come true a tad expensive but not unique to this Series. I believe inflation is to blame? For why it’s no longer 3.99 remember thinking that was a bit steep. Didn’t Series 1 go for $1.99? If only...
  8. Revisiting images of Spiderman I changed my mind. The reason the arm print was off putting was BECAUSE of the inconsistency with the legs. Translation, they looked good on their own. But once given the detail on the arm I subconsciously noticed how lacking it was on the legs. So I hope they update Spiderman by printing the webbing on his boots. Then he will look complete.
  9. If done correctly could be the best Lego game ever. Hope they spice up the mechanics and install some new feature. Brands that get criticized for being too formulaic (Pokemon, Lego games etc) would do good to spice things up here and there. I’d buy it!!
  10. But also why would they? The Justice League (Snydervers) sets sold poorly. My understanding is that the BvS wave was not too hot either. I’m personally buying the Wonder Woman 84 set because I absolutely love the build but many won’t because of how poorly the film was received. I think making sets on any DC movie is a financial risk. I see them releasing unofficial tie ins however. The Shazam movie released in 2019 and we got Shazam in a polynag and a Batwing set that same year. Harley (in her Suicide Squad New 52 fit) and Deadshot appeared in a set in 2016, the year of the Suicide Squad movie. We’ll probably just get Black Adam in a comic set, probably also led by Batman and his villains. Highly unlikely Mary Marvel or any other Shazam family member will be released in sets. this is literally so concerning? With only 1 retail set this year are you implying things could get worse? Is this theme on track to be cancelled? I feel like I’m living in the last days of the DC brand in general. This is probably the desperation Marvel fans felt as Marvel was going bankrupt in the 90’s. I actually think this is worse. its probably about to be discontinued. I feel sad. There’s no serious DC kids cartoon on air, Justice League Action was just shorts. No DC animated Universe. The animated movies haven’t been as good lately. The comics industry in general is in shambles. And I don’t even know who to blame for the mess that is the movies. The DC brand is dying and I’m very hurt about that. It would take years of a continuous animation boom and a pause from movies and a return with nothing less than a stellar and groundbreaking SERIES of films to get the brand back up on its feet. We are not getting a normal comic wave anytime soon. And when we do it’ll probably suck. I’m just angry I remember being told “everyone has made peace with the state of this theme but you” and I feel like I see that. I still can’t believe my favorite theme is effectively dead and there’s no hope of it coming back to life for many years and even then less likely as no one at Warner Bros seems to know how to handle the License. Wish warner and At&T did not own DC. Marvel was bought by Disney but before that did their own thing. For some reason I feel DC being owned by Warner Media which is owned by AT&T hurt the brand. Can’t prove it but I think the many chains of authority have hurt DC and it’d be easier to clean up if it was independent but what do I know.
  11. @THELEGOBATMAN yes yes I corrected myself in the first paragraph of the comment above yours. The only mystery sets left are the $40 and $230 Batman set. Hope each is worth the wait but I can easily seeing this entire year disappointing.
  12. Okay so 76180 is the Juniors set, 76181 and 76183 are for next year. 76182 is the bust. 76239 and 76240 are the only two mystery sets. I am back to expecting 2 unknown sets. I happened to trick myself into thinking there was 6 new sets for us to see. Silly me. I hope the $40 is a good surprise. Maybe a solid new figure, or character update. Maybe 2 new characters? I don’t know hope its not the usual. I would hate for the D2C to be a micro-scaled BatCave. I want a system scaled set. This theme rarely gets system scaled D2C’s. With the two recent Bat vehicles from the Burton era being over-scaled. And the Tumbler as well. I believe our most recent system scale D2C was Arkham, the first. I count the Jokerized Manor and Ultra Bat-mobile as belonging to TLBM theme. I want another formal DC system scale set, and the oversized sets tend to have few figures. I’m sure the sane would be the case with this idea. I’m done with the Adam West and Tim Burton era sets, we almost never get any real content for this theme and the content we do get is repetitive and dull. I want a structure with at least 8 figures. The more the merrier. If it must be Batman it could be many things and I hope if they include Freeze, its using one of his bigger molds, if Ivy is there I hope she’s green (and give her a different hairpiece), if Scarecrow is there give him the bag head, if its Harley give her the nee Pigtail piece from TLM2. If its a structure hope its new but if its Arkham make it detailed. Or somehow an extension of the 2013 one. Just make it exciting stop with the 2-3 figures with no details and these out of scale vehicles. I want something new. In both the small and large set. The bar is so low “new” could just be leg printing :/
  13. Set numbers 76180 -$30 76181 - Retail 76182 - $60 76183 - Retail 76239 - Retail 76240 Lego Exclusive To me this reads as an entire wave. This is using the info from the bricklink link @Anonknee Muss left a few comments above. Listing 76240 as a Lego exclusive has me thinking that’s the D2C. I’m wondering if this is a rushed wave to fill the year, a comic wave they had already planned, or if some of these set numbers are for The Batman Movie. None of them on bricklink are listed as Batman. Could be wishful thinking but what if we got a Justice League wave? I think what was lacking in the 2018 wave was good figures. They went with an uninspiring design for Killer Frost, lack of leg detail on Firestorm, and Cheetah needed leg, arm, and tail printing and they gave her none of that. Also a tired hair piece when the elves Azari mould would work perfect for cheetah. This is a total of 6 sets this year! With generous prices so we have the potential of *drum roll please* more than 1 new figure this year! I’m hoping we get at lest 1 new hero and 1 new villain. Maybe updates on heroes we’ve already gotten? Black Canary could use a different hairpiece (seriously so sick of that piece) a new face print and an array of different costumes. It’s high time Batgirl got leg printing, Hawkgirl a proper mould, Green Arrow can be updated as well. I have renewed hope for this year and with several Bat-vehicles on the market I pray we get a new concept in at least 1 set. And with 6 sets thats a possibility. This year may end up being not too shabby for the theme. We’ll see. Unless any number of these sets ends up being for the next year, that would suck. 6 sets is kind of promising actually.
  14. I take this as the D2C is not based on the 66 Adam West series. Thank goodness, I hope its a comic design with many figured and not the 3 we’ve seen in the 80’s sets. Maybe a new leaguer or two? It’d be nice to see a new concept like a structure other than Arkham or a vehicle for someone other than Batman. It’s confirmed to be a Batman D2C I’m hoping Jokerland. The 2015 set felt lacking for me I could see the build being bulkier and more intricate with the park layout being more connected and a fuller image. I’d also be okay with a Wayne Manor with a mountainous facade under the mansion that when opened reveals the Batcave. Or a Joker Ice Cream Lair. Hope every figure has appropriate printing and I pray we finally get Batgirl with her dual molded printed boots. Give Babs her boots! I have hope it may surprise. But I also feel it will probably disappoint.
  15. What are those 2 set numbers? My understanding that those 3 sets, the Juniors 66 set, and the 2 standard Batman sets were all we were getting for the theme this year? I mean beside the cowl and mini figure pack. We may have gotten another Juniors set as well don’t remember. Thats 6 products for the year? Unimpressive but still better than a completely empty roster. But I’ve not heard of 2 additional sets where did you hear about that?
  16. I somehow forgot we got new arm printing for Spiderman. Unsure if it was introduced in 2020 or 2021. Its funny because it actually is accurate to the comics and how his sleeves should look. But I’m not fond of it it looks weird to me. I love the Spiderman mini figure I got in the Venom mech set, and won’t display him with the new printing. Which is weird because I hadn’t even had an inkling that figure was “lacking” in print or inaccurate. It was my best and the new arms aren’t doing it for me. Edit: come to think of it, his red and blue dual molded legs aren’t completely accurate either. They could add web lines to his red boots as that pattern does continue on his boots in his comic designs. I don’t think that would look bad, but the 2019 Spider seems perfect for me. I guess Spidey looks better inaccurate hehe
  17. Looking back at the Thor mech this year I’m annoyed at the use of the Ragnorok helmet. It’s very accurate to the gladiator scene in the movies but his comic helmet would sit over his head instead of wrapping over his face. The angel wings would stick out more to the side rather than curving up, it would be a new mold that would also have his hair draping down the side of this differently molded helmet. It’s inaccurate and it bothers me that it was paired with the Square Enix torso which is fairly comic accurate to his comic torso designs. The combination of the MCU helmet and the Square Enix torso just produce a combination that works somewhat but feels wrong. It’s like when they gave Hawkgirl Hawkmans helmet. It was a “close enough” mold and I really wish Lego invested in new molds for this theme the way they do for new themes like Vidiyo. Some Licensed series like the Simpsons have received many specialized molds. It’d be nice if we saw more Of that here. Tired of the “close enough” approach. But I have a strong feeling a comic accurate Thor with a new helmet hair combo will appear in the CMF Series. Thor is a big character that I assume will be used in the series. If not that we’re definitely getting Fat suit Thor but my first choice is a comic accurate Thor. Lastly Mysterio could do with leg printing to continue his suit pattern onto his legs and to print some gold or yellow boots on him. Stop skipping out on the details for this theme but giving intricacy to figures for other less popular brands.
  18. Same here. The Marvel D2C’s have mainly disappointed me. The Hulkbuster was a major snorefest for me. I believe Arkham from 2013 was the superheroes D2C with the most figures. Hulk buster had 1 or 2, Helicarrier (micro scale) had like 5-6, I want a set like a Star Wars D2C with 17-20 figures if the source material calls for it. Thats what I enjoy about Star Wars is that their large sets like Mos Eisley Cantina and Death Star have a lot of figs. Ewok Village and Hoth Base too. The Helicarrier was micro scaled and the Hulkbuster was oversized. I hope this is our first mini figure scaled Marvel D2C.
  19. D2C releases in 2 months and there’s still not a drop of info as to what it will be. I’m so excited and for what? It’s probably going to be a D2C Spide-Copter hehe. But its right around the corner (!!)
  20. The ballerina piece doesn’t capture Marvin for me. His skirt is more clover shaped, with the “leaves being more angular. Lego would do best to make a new mold for the skirt because it looks much different from any existing mold. Love the figure, he makes sense with the mini figure head. I was absolutely expecting a new mold for his entire head but just the helmet works completely fine. Excited to see his completed look with his skirt piece. He looks incomplete because he obviously is. The gun is meh I figured a small brick built gun would have made more sense but his guns have been pretty distinct I think a general ray gun kind of gets the idea across. Not bad excited for more.
  21. Even dropping it to $35 would make a huge difference for me. I’m obviously not picking it up but that is not worth $40 imo. Similar to the Juniors Avengers Tower this past year. How was that $60? Even with the Hulk big fig that build was so small, I swear I can remember a time where the structure alone for that set would cost around $20. Idk why I just remembered that set but wow that was overpriced. The build was tiny thin and lacking detail, fine for a juniors build but there was no substance to justify the price point. How could a big figure cost so much? Why amI I so angry at the cost of a Juniors set.
  22. I know nothing about Shang-Chi, its plot or the comics its derived from. That dragon looks amazing and adequate for the price range. It’s 30 I believe, seems fitting, definitely overpriced if its the $40 set. What is Morris? He doesn’t seem to have distinguishable features and looks like that flying ball they chase in quidditch. Mandarin hopefully has a more exciting outfit waiting to be revealed this feels very understated for me. Interesting that they refer to him as Wenwu. Was expecting longer hair but there’s probably more to be seen. Very happy with the fact that we get 4 figures in the $30 set. I’m correct in the price range no? Its a good set for whoever wants it and I get that its not aimed at me but the designs remind me why I stick to the colorful yet inconsistent comic designs.
  23. No unfortunately we only have 3 regular sets coming this year and I would expect one new figure at best. Judging from how they handled Hakwgirl and Bronze Tiger, the new figure will either have no new molds and reuse an inaccurate piece, or simply aim for a design that requires no new molds. I see him as unlikely bc this theme is cheap and they rarely invests in new molds. Which is frustrating because it seems we get new batarang pieces often. what I really want is some big fig heroes. Marvel has Hulk and my brick built groot. I always notice with my DC display how all my heroes are figures and I want something to diversify that. I’d like a bigfig for Etrigan and Kilowog. I would like Swamp Thing but he should have brick built wings and legs and a specialized shoulder head pieces. Similar to Groot and Clayface. Not a big fig. But I want different silhouettes for my heroes. It’s why I love characters like bouncy boy (LoS).
  24. So many thoughts. You did so good with the floor work and did a great job of not making the ice look messy and clutter the space. Instead the symmetry on many of the ice daggers was appealing to look at and the details on the interior are fun to look at. Its like a game of Where’s Waldo with all the figures, poses, and action sequences happening under these beautifully lit ice pieces. I instantly recognizes the references and think you did a great job with both the exterior and interior. I’m not usually a fan of half built structures and prefer a fully enclosed approach to making buildings but this was super effective. The dinosaurs were also brilliantly constructed and I love the impact the lights have on the overall image. Fun Fact I grew up watching Batman and Robin and it was one of my favorite movies growing up. I was surprised to find out as an adult it was a universally despised film, it was and continues to be a favorite for me. I guess when you enjoy something as a kid it just sticks with you. Then again I was also shocked to hear Shrek 3 was unpopular. I loved that mess!!
  25. I think the brick built wolf is what I didn’t enjoy. The ship design is also ugly in general, and Lego was made to make a toy of an ugly ship. The arena was ok I guess. Ah this makes more sense now. Yeah Lego reuses faces a lot and sometimes I think its understandable but its rewarding seeing them make new face prints because they’re not always quick to do so. Normalize leg printing!! I am fully convinced if the “Avengers” Summer wave does not end up a Legacy wave it will cover the Disney Plus sets.
