  1. How cool we could get the third sister! I stayed away from watching the trailer cause i’m not caught up on star wars content but honestly gonna check it out now. Excited to think I can get the inquisitors I missed out on from Rebels. Hope the actual Rebels team and namely the Ghost make some sort of appearance to justify re-releasing them. It’s not like they were done particularly well the first go either. Sabine namely could have had much brighter printing, a darker skin tone and more detailing on both arms and legs. Excited to see where this goes. Called my local store and they happen to have inventory for both the Mandalorian Starfighter and the Bad Batch Shuttle plus the Aunt Beru promo! Definitely gonna go tonight to avoid regretting this promo, its too beautiful not to get while I can. Plus double VIP points for sets I was meaning to get anyways.
  2. Okay totally not freaking out but just realized the Mos Eisley Cantina is OOS and set to retire this year. Is it possible this set will not restock on shop at home ever again? Or could we expect it to restock before the years end/it retires? I feel like I should pick up the Cantina ASAP from my local store, would you guys say its risky to wait further on into the year? I am notttt paying aftermarket prices for that. I feel like I’m already anxious about missing out on whats set to retire this year those retiring soon sets you waited on really do creep up on you this time of year.
  3. It can be depressing how fast the years have gone by. Seems like I haven’t even gotten the chance to get some of my favorite modulars from my high school years, and the years keep coming by and they keep on retiring! I feel like I’m always in a rush against retirement dates Lego collecting can be so exhausting when you’re just determined not to pay after market fee’s lol
  4. I’ll come back with detailed thoughts on the leaks once I have the time but for now I want to say this theme is largely on a roll and seriously producing some insane content. But in regards to the theatre, I was insure if I wanted it purely because I had no desire for this open play style set up with seemingly no facade. At first glance. Then more pictures revealed and it closes up! It looks like a fully enclosed building which can open up to reveal the stage. And the back side has quite a bit of detailing too. This is made all the more impressive when you consider how the build itself doesn’t have the most depth so its an incredible use of space and parts combined with an incredibly appealing design both closed and opened up. This theatre is one of the most exciting sets I’ve seen in a minute this theme truly does not disappoint.
  5. Like the only good set in the wave tbh.
  6. I agree comic sets are not inherently the problem. The repetitive character roster and uninspired build selection we’ve seen in recent waves, is. Instead of endless spidey mechs with the same rotating cast, a relevant build with heroes such as those you mentioned is something I and many others would go crazy for. But comic based sets are not inherently undesirable. Might just be me and my nostalgia but the 2014 Avengers Assemble wave was so cool to me and I am still very fond of that wave, the original X/Deadpool set (that one is almost like a fever dream). Etc. Feel like people are a bit harsh on the baby Groot build I don’t think it’s creepy and think it’s done a good job relaying the cute factor of the character. That said it’s not something I see myself getting. Mm I don’t completely agree with this. Looking at footage of that game online its clear the characters are depicted, costume wise very catered to their cinematic designs but facial features were not made to mirror those actors. The game had a mix of cinematic and comic influence on the character design and this is reflected in the Lego sets but I don’t think that’s the same thing as saying Lego itself took mixed inspiration for the sets. As for most of their other “comic” content, the issue here may lie in that its not always really comic content. 2012 Doc Oc set was cartoon (Ultimate Spiderman, namely) inspired, as was the 2013 Bugle and Nick Fury/Venom chase. The 2016 wave is arguably also based on that cartoon although an argument could be made that that wave in particular took mixed inspiration from both the cartoon and comics. Similarly a lot of the recent Spidey sets have been largely inspired by either into the spideyverse or the new kids cartoon people keep referencing. This may cause confusion but ultimately when you look at these , I’ll them “non cinematic” sets, the inspiration isn’t all that mixed. The 2014 Avengers winter wave was clearly based off Avengers Assembly, same goes for the Captain Marvel Avenjet of 2015. Come to think of it, I could see how you’d confuse the 2017 Iron Man set as mixed influence seeing as how it has a comic villain and modern comic design for Iron Man, but Agent Coulson from the MCU /agents? It did come out when agents of shield was airing.but to that I say, hasn’t Agent Coulson been transferred over to the comics/cartoons as well? Far as I’m concerned his car may not exist in the comics so that Lola may be a give away to mixed influence, but that doesn’t change the fact for the bulk of the other “comic” sets, they really only took inspiration from either the comics at large, or a particular cartoon/animated movie.
  7. Even if the hype has worn off, some people such as myself have yet to pick it up. This hobby is expensive and it can take time for some of us to get around to certain content, that said I definitely would have been incentivized to army build more if I had been able tk get double points for that set. That said I do see in the exclusions it does state one set per household so even if this army builder set did qualify it only one purchase of said set would get the double points so it’d be kind of a waste anyways. Idk if this sounds repetitive but I do want to state that this Lars Homestead kitchen has got to be one of the most satisfying May the 4th builds they’ve ever made. It is so beautiful I absolutely love this promotion.
  8. I think I recently posted to the wishlist thread that I wanted a Lars Homestead. This GWP is one of the best I’ve seen and think it has great value and a beautiful build. As for the double VIP points, is this company wide for a period or exclusively for star wars day? Do other themes have select double VIP point sets for an upcoming double VIP event or is this part of the star wars day promotion exclusively? Hope that made sense In any event I still need the Bad Batch Shuttle, Mandalorian Starfighter. and AAT, so I’ll likely hold off for the double points to get them. That said I am bummed to see the 501st battle pack was omitted from the list. For a list mostly comprised of soon to retire sets, the exclusion of an army building set I would have gladly bought multiples of on this event feels silly. That feels like the most obvious set to include on a promotion like this.
  9. Went to the Lego store this past weekend looking for 501st battle pack and AAT from 2020. Somehow they were miraculously out of both so I used $60 worth of points on the Imperial Light Cruiser and used a gift card to buy the Duel on Mandalore. Currently on bag 4 of Imperial Light Cruiser and finished the $20 set. Here are some thoughts; • Love Darth Maul, set feels worth it more small pieces than it may seem, beautiful recognizable build and great figs. Almost glad my other desired Ahsoka set was OOS so I didn’t miss this but intended to get both sets she came in in 2020 regardless • Ashoka has no duel molded legs or side leg printing… I’m gonna be honest,, she really needed it. Looks incomplete almost cheap • Fennec and Mof Giddeon are such handsome figures Really love these sets and can’t wait to modify some of these figs.
  10. Isn’t the Castle confirmed to be retiring this year? If that holds true I could definitely see them releasing a new D2C next year to replace the flagship Disney set. I think the retirement of the castle would play a bigger role than Disney’s anniversary as Lego has been kind of flip floppity on which anniversaries and of which themes in general they choose to celebrate. But generally speaking yes I agree its more likely to be next year than this.
  11. We all saw the post on front page? Do we reckon there’s a contest to be announce Friday? I’m hoping it’s a set reveal tbh.
  12. Finally built the General Grievous star fighter from 2020. I love the airborn trooper best part of the set. The underside and backside feel exposed and unrefined, considering the price point that feels like a waste. Also considering it only had 3 bags, definitely did not feel worth it in the end. I never liked the 2020 Mustafar set (really ugly in my opinion) and always thought Anakins Interceptor from 2012 was the best Mustafar Lego set. Kenobi may be inaccurate but at least you he’ll fit in well when I buy that 2012 interceptor, he’ll make sense on that display. Grievous feels flimsy definitely going to be careful with him. Ship has its angles but yeah definitely not worth the price.
  13. I mean Star Wars juggles producing content for 9 “core” movies, the occasional animated series, and spin off movies (Rogue One, Solo) along with Disney plus shows and its own original content (freemakers). Not to turn this into a Star Wars discussion but Marvel typically handled a few movies a year, with the occasional comic/cartoon wave. It isn’t until recently the Disney plus shows were added to the mix that we started juggling a bit more content, and even then it usually took the place of comic/cartoon content. We haven’t gotten Sebulba since 2011, or Mon Mothma since 2010. Neither because of how “mature” they are. Star Wars just juggles more content than super heroes and thats why several characters take ages to revisit. I think Elektra is being saved for an 18+ set but because they’d either have to print her bandana on the series 12 spooky girl hair, or use the fortune tellers mold (I still think it’s a bit too thick and short), they understand there‘s going to be disappointment with whatever choice of reused parts they give her, but also unlikely to produce a new mold considering 18+ sets tend to be expensive. She was probably just inconvenient to make and as you said we’ll likely get her when she’s in something more prominent at the time, but I don’t think her costumer is the issue. Plus March Harriet over at DC has a much more risqué costume but they covered her figure up a bit, who’s to say they wouldn’t with her? And as @Classic_Spaceman puts it, to save space on the legs they’d probably cover her up a bit regardless. I think it’s her hair that’s making her hard to produce tbh.
  14. I mean we got Slave Leia and Oola (a literal victim of human trafficking in extremely revealing clothing) over at Star Wars. I also don’t want to get reprimanded for using crude language but even Slave Leia with a whip to her neck had some clear connotations. That wasn’t too long ago either that was 2012 and 2013 respectively. If Lego felt comfortable enough to produce that they would surely produce an Elektra figure. Plus the mermaids of PotC had shells on their chest, nothing else, would that not be just as crude? I feel her obscurity paired with the fact that she is most known for her affiliation with Daredevil/Kingpin/the hand played a bigger role in why we haven’t gotten her. She may be lumped into the “too dark for main sets needs to be released in an 18+ set” to be produced category (think Punisher/Blade). But unlike the former 2 she wouldn’t be done justice without a new mold likely, considering her hair texture is usually not as thick as the fortune tellers and the cost of producing a new mold for a one off character in an 18+ set probably got her sidelined.
  15. I mean we got like 4 pod racer sets at the beginning of this theme in 99. Sure it was the very year the Phantom Menace came out but we got pod racing sets in 2011 and 2019. From 2011 having Wald to 2019 having Padme to the 99 sets having obscure background racers, we’ve gotten unique characters every time the pod racing sets have gotten released. and considering Aurra was in the background of that scene, all they’d have to do is drop her in the next pod racing set they make, which I do not doubt, even if it takes years (8 year gap between the most recent 2), we will get. I still think they’d have an opportunity outside of the Disney plus shows. Question is will they take it? I’m personally not just gunning for her, but updated versions of some background speeders, Anakins mom for the first time, and maybe even a build for a racer other than Anakin or Sebulba (updated Gasagno anyone?) the next time they make a podracing set.
  16. Since when were we expecting a tank? This is the first I hear of this.
  17. I mean if Batman is their bread and butter and they do not even have enough confidence in him to produce more than 3 sets… and I mean Lego is a business. One that does its research and keeps up with its own data. I may believe the Teen Titans and the League can carry a wave if they invested a bit more into satisfying figure designs and branched out of the same bat vehicles, but their numbers probably show that didn’t work out. If we only get a couple sets for the most successful character in this franchise, yearly, then clearly this theme is under performing. They might drag this along for a few bat sets yearly but I wouldn’t be surprised if we heard it got cut short before Marvel. And that would be huge news. Trust me the day the number one toy manufacturer in the world stops producing what was formerly thought of as one of the big 2 in comics because its content was not popular enough to be maintained, whereas Marvel continues in glory, I definitely think that would break headlines. DC comics not popular enough to sell sets under the most popular toy brand on Earth? And their biggest competitor would keep going? I can imagine that getting some coverage tbh.
  18. Basically guaranteed to never happen but it just hit me that I would love an updated Life on Mars figure in this series.
  19. All this talk of a potential celebratory series for series 23 had me thinking. A lot of the speculation surrounds references to previous themes, and a potential bionicle figure was mentioned. This made me realize I really want a Bionicle CMF series. They never quite got the legs to move and I think the 2014 invasion from below showed us how constraction figures can look amazing when downscaled for figured sets. I would love 12 figures with similarly posable legs to represent the Bionicle theme. If the theme does not sell well enough to have sets (honestly the Lego groups fault, its not that people didn’t want a Bionicle reboot, its that nothing past the first wave of the reboot looked nice). Hope they get around to this some day.
  20. Narcissa is certainly my most desired missing fig but I definitely want a proper Bellatrix with maniacal eyes/laugh, and printed dress slope while this theme is still around. The angry and calm face they give her in the burrow is not good enough. Additionally people keep saying we should use the cmf face. I disagree. That look had no makeup and darkened eyes, and was representing her prisoner of Azkaban look where she was worn out and jailed. Her movie appearances were largely with her makeup and even then that print has a smirk and closed mouth and her 2011 face remains the best to capture her lunacy. She hasn’t looked quite deranged since then, just angry or stoic which I do not feel does her justice. And then there’s the plain black slope piece. Lol. In short the other characters would be nice to get but a new and proper Bellatrix and Narcissa is all I’m really clamoring for.
  21. Not exactly a rumor but did everyone see the Aurra Sing from the new game? I definitely think Obi Wan and Anakin looked terrible in clone wars print (Dooku as well) but am fine with my Sugi and Aurra Sung figures. They’re not that bad imo. However that new face design for Aurra would be great to see in a set, would love to see that made one day. Sugi and Embo would be nice to get updated as well its unlikely but I saw Big Kid bricks has an amazing design for her with an appropriate head piece and leg printing. While some may think “Aura is possible cause she was a background character for the Phantom Menace” and “Sugi and Embo were only in the clone wars and not for a long time” so it may be unlikely to get updated versions of them, but a guy can certainly dream. However even if we don’t, I’m happy with the figures that came in my bounty hunter ship. That said the new design for Sing is really nice and I would love to see her produced (maybe they can give us new podracers/ Anakins Mom/ Sing in a set??). I love the 2011 speeder set and would love if Lego made a new speeder for one of the other racers, either in place of Anakin or Sebulba, and it’d be the perfect set to get her in.
  22. Surprised we never got a Jedi Temple, and still no Naboo palace. Even if downscaled I would appreciate a minifg compatible take on both sets eventually. Some thoughts; Jedi Temple - going to try and just brainstorm things I’d to see rather than set a desired price point. Lots of troopers, at least 5 storm troopers and a few commanders. A lower level hallways that encompasses the building. Either 4 distinct sub temples or a gradual series of 4 sets that each represent a portion of the temple that can combine to provide the largest a d most detailed play experience possible. Unnamed Padawans, but designed in the image of the Padawan in the background of episode 3 and possibly referencing characters from other media. A council room, and a funeral room. A figure of that clone wars woman who bombed the temple. A hangar with room for a small ship as opposed to a micro build. A small ship is reasonable compromise for me. A jail cell and prison area to recreate the Barriss Offee scenes. Naboo Palace - unlike the temple I think this can be dine in one set. Princess Padme and her entourage of Naboo officials, and royal entourage (handmaidens and Tsabin), the purple looks she wore in episode 1, small gungan army, maybe about 5, few droids, statues at front, main entrance, silhouette of all the small temples at the back even if its done ala Hogwarts where most are empty and just there to recreate the silhouette.
  23. This. If we do get anything I think it’ll be later down the line how we got the 66 Batmobile late last year, I think a surprise 2 half year set is more likely, I do not anticipate anything for DC this year. Which does bring up the topic of retirement. Say what you want but an entire year with just 3 sets is unusual and Spongebob had a slow wave or two before retiring and a few years sprinkled in with no releases at all if I am correct. Either that, or a few very slow years before they let it go. Small waves same deal. While some may say “we are clearly only getting cinematic content” I think it’s fair to say we are only getting Batman cinematic content. I wonder what the future holds for Lego DC
  24. I meant both non 4+ sets, like both standard sets. I know some people here collect 4 plus sets (I was only ever tempted by the Avengers Tower for both Hulk and Loki but that looked like a $20 set not worth $60 at all lmao) but I do not so I didn’t even consider it among the “normal” sets. guess I gotta see the film to understand the context for and appreciate the figs. Looking at it more the star fighter is not as bad as I thought but I think I deduced it to Zurgs fingers looking weird to me and the ship looking plain and nothing new design wise for a space ship. It’s all just average I was more excited for the 4+ Incredibles Line (okay maybe I do occasionally buy 4+ sets lol).
  25. I for one think this set is perfectly priced. The detailing on the figures, the amount of figures, the bold choice to use non canon representations of something Hasbro made up, the build itself plus accounting for inflation, I am not mad at all to be paying $40 for this. Certainly no more but I think the price is perfect. I see what you mean and initially had my reservations for the new Mace. However looking at a review video he looks just fine for me I think pictures may not have done him justice. If anything the lack of side leg printing stood out to me more than the arm detailing and I managed to be fine with both. you know what gap I was focusing on in this set? The hips. I certainly understand that sets won’t have cmf level detail, but boy I sure do wish we got hip printing more often. Not just for this theme.the white gal on the troopers between the torso and leg detailing could have been transitioned by printing their pouches on their hips where they belong. This is also true and an issue for the bat family and their utility belts over at DC being printed on their stomachs. I can forgive it based off how much I like the rest of this set but moving forward would like to see them print on hips again, not sure why they don’t do it more but am fairly certain they have in the past.
