LEGO Star Wars 2022 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
The Stud replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It’s definitely possible but I think that it’s more likely that we’ll see some sets revealed around the time of Star Wars Celebration. It just seems like a good time to do it, especially since a lot of the upcoming sets correlate with things that will be relevant there. (Attack of the Clones, Fallen Order, Kenobi, The Bad Batch) Now, it seems like Blue Milk Luke is an unconfirmed in-store only promo. That’s definitely disappointing for me, as I’m doing my shopping online. Hopefully it brings the price of the figure down regardless though. Speaking of shopping online, should I be worried about the Star Wars D2Cs selling out as soon as these promotions are up? I don’t have a lot of experience with May the 4th shopping. Last year was my first time ordering sets for the event and I didn’t have any trouble, though I wasn’t ordering any D2Cs then. This time around, I’m planning on getting both the Cantina and UCS R2-D2. Also, the Landspeeder looks okay I guess. The turbines look a little too square in my opinion, but everything else looks as expected. Nothing to write home about, I probably don’t really need this one in my collection. Seems like we’re getting an official reveal today. I’m sure we’ll hear plenty of the “Lego makes so many Landspeeders lol” joke throughout the day, which are honestly even more repetitive than the Landspeeder sets themselves. -

Frankly, I think Darth Revan was the only interesting May the 4th figure we ever got, and I’m not a KOTOR fan so that one doesn’t even really interest me aside from the quality of the figure itself. I’d say Yularen too but he easily could have just been thrown in with a Death Star set. I’d much rather get a niche build with a unique figure than just getting either another dull diorama or a throwaway figure like Hoth Han Solo or Heavy Artillery FO Stormtooper. We’re getting the best of both worlds here. And we all didn’t get that Blue Milk Luke figure. If you didn’t pre-order the Deluxe Edition (which I didn’t because the game got delayed so many times), you were kinda screwed. Finding a Deluxe Edition out in stores is hard to do and even though the figure itself isn’t super interesting, I still want it for the novelty. I know I’m not the only one in this position. Considering the prices the figure is going for, I think it’s good that Lego is throwing this in as essentially an extra May the 4th promo. For the past few years, we’ve been getting a small set and a random polybag as promos, and now this year they’re throwing in this extra figure on top of that. (And the set comes with an exclusive figure too this time around!) It’s not like it’s taking the place of something else. I can somewhat agree that it’s a little lame that one of the few missing OT characters, Beru, is only coming in a one-time May the 4th promo, but I still believe that this is the best May 4th promo yet. I think it’s great that we got a build with a (unique-but-niche) figure. Lego does it all the time with sets like the Jane Goodall or Monster Book of Monsters promos, but not really for Star Wars. I think the build itself looks really good, and the figure is a pretty good representation of the character. I like it. There’s not a lot of sets we could have gotten Beru in anyway. I don’t think a Lars Homestead set would be really feasible because so much of the location is underground and not seen on-screen. Getting part of the Homestead in a Binary Sunset diorama could work and could be a good set to include her, Luke and Owen in I suppose. Oh well, it seems that the only exclusive piece here is the torso anyway. The face looks to be Molly Weasley’s and the rest definitely isn’t exclusive. And for me, getting Blue Milk Luke and this Tatooine-based Lars Kitchen promo is perfect as one of the sets I’m getting for May the 4th is the Mos Eisley Cantina. I’ll be extra happy because there’s still another promo (I’m guessing that Hoth AT-ST polybag like a lot of other people, which is also fine by me as I haven’t gotten that one), that VIP keychain if I choose to get that, and most likely Double VIP Points to gain. I’m also probably going to split my purchases into two orders (I’m also getting the UCS R2-D2) so I can get extras of the promos too. -
71033 LEGO Muppets CMF Series - Rumors & Discussion
The Stud replied to Borex's topic in LEGO Licensed
I don’t think I ever shared my thoughts on the series itself but I really like it! I think all of the figure choices were good ones. There were a few noteworthy absences (Scooter, Pepe, Sweetums, Rizzo, etc.) but nothing too glaring. It’s just another series that would have benefited from having 16-20 figures like the older licensed series. Still, the detailing and accessories for all of these characters are fantastic! I’d pre-order my complete set from Minifigures Plus right now if it weren’t for the fact that I’m saving up for some big Lego Star Wars purchases for May the 4th. -

Cody is Obi-Wan’s Clone Commander. He leads the 212th Attack Battalion and is usually present in the Clone Wars battles Obi-Wan fights in. The Jedi Starfighter should be released in August along with most of the other sets coming out in the second half of the year. I’m going to stay cautiously optimistic about the AT-TE being ROTS-based and that it’ll bring us new 212th Troopers. For me at least, that’d be more desirable than an AOTC figure selection. I will say that if this does end up being the case, there is absolutely no way that Lego passes on this opportunity to do Cody. Throwing in an Airborne Trooper instead of Cody into that Grievous Starfighter a few years ago was already a bit puzzling, but this would be flat-out baffling. It also makes sense for Lego to make this a ROTS version because it would certainly feature Obi-Wan, which would mean that Lego will have AOTC version (Jedi Starfighter), ROTS version (this set) and TV show versions (two Kenobi show sets this summer) of the character on shelves in the year that his own series debuts. -

Yeah, I don't think there's an intentional pattern. I just thought it would have been an interesting parallel with what Lego did for the 2020 AT-AT and I figured that that's what Lego was going for since I didn't think a TCW or ROTS would be as likely. Thinking more about the demand for Commander Cody has made me change my stance on that though. Ultimately, it doesn't really matter though and most of these anniversaries are kinda arbitrary. If this really is a ROTS AT-TE walker as speculated, I do still hope we get more AOTC coverage over the next few years. Throwing in Geonosis Duel and Bounty Hunter Pursuit remakes into a random wave would be enough to satisfy me. -

I think that's a pretty solid theory in all honesty. I wonder if some of the sets we're getting this summer would have just been done last year if Lego hadn't gone ahead with the 20th Anniversary stuff. I'm sure they had some sort of bullet list of sets they wanted to cover in a four-ish year plan like you suggest. Gringott's would have been made sense as sort of a grand finale for that original plan, kinda like a second Ninjago City set rounding off the Ninjago Movie collection in 2018. Besides Gringott's, there's not really a lot of other large sets they can plausibly do besides more sections of Hogwarts or Diagon Alley maybe, as well as remakes. Even now, from a casual fan's perspective like mine, Gringott's is one of the few remaining things that I'd like to see covered in a future set. After I eventually get caught up on the sets I still want from the last couple years, there's not really many other Lego Harry Potter sets that I would want. If they did have a plan like this, I still kinda wonder what their thought process was for the two CMF series, seeing as how a lot of those figures have kinda become obsolete or had similar versions released in sets. I suppose that they were probably just worried about getting a lot of iconic, interesting characters into Series 1, especially ones not included in the initial 2018 wave, without really thinking ahead. -

I'm honestly cool either way if it's an AOTC or ROTS (or Battle of Yerbana) AT-TE. AOTC is what I was calling since it lines up with Lego doing their last System-scale walker to coincide with an anniversary, and it'd go well with the Phase One Clone pack, but a model with ROTS figures would probably be preferable to me. I like Phase Two Clones way more and it could finally get people to shut up about Commander Cody. -
Karabast, that is gorgeous! This is the best System-scale Ghost I've seen yet, I'd love to have something as good looking as this in my collection.

It makes sense too since we likely won’t get another Spider-Man film (not including the animated stuff) until like 2024 or 2025. Releasing some more spoilery NWH stuff to bridge the gap sounds logical (plus more comic stuff of course and probably sets for the Freshmen Year animated series.) In addition to the legacy characters, it’d be nice to get some arm printing for Tom’s Spidey too. It bugs me how the Upgraded and Integrated suits don’t have it while the black/gold suit (which is just the same suit inside out!) does. I’d like a new Ned with that letterman jacket and finally an MCU Aunt May as well. -

This is honestly as hilarious as it is utterly ridiculous. (All of this effort done to prevent people from seeing or buying plastic toys “too early”.) I’m just imagining some kid wanting to buy a random Minifigure pack from like Series 22 and getting denied at the register. This was probably just a knee-jerk reaction because Lego and Disney have a set date that they want to reveal/release these. It’s possible that Lego doesn’t know that Target uses the same product number for the CMFs either. -

I'm still dubious but I do hope my prediction ends up panning out. I couldn't tell you why but more and more, I just get the feeling that this won't be a MBS playset. The two big guesses are Endor or Geonosis but I'm not as sure of those anymore. I just can't see us getting a large playset bigger than a Death Star, which my gut also tells me that this isn't a new version of that either. I think it's going to be a ship and to me, a Razor Crest is the most plausible for the price point. Lego has exhausted just about every realistic OT UCS set, besides the Nebulon Frigate or some starfighter remakes or variations that we haven't gotten before, none of which I see costing $530. It's probably too soon for Lego to have another prequel UCS set ready and there's not much there that I think could exist at such a price point. The only sequel UCS sets that I think are plausible (besides the ST version of the Falcon which is represented by the UCS set) are X-Wing and TIE Fighter variants, which again wouldn't fill the price point. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian is a huge success, the third season will be arriving not too long after this set would launch and the play scale version is on its way out. Sure, the Crest got blown up in the show, but it's still an iconic hero ship and like the UCS Falcon, it would have plenty of interior space possibilities. I could be completely wrong and I probably have some confirmation bias here as like I said earlier, a UCS Razor Crest was my wild prediction for the fall. Also, besides D2Cs and 18+ sets like the Compacter or Dark Trooper Helmet, do we think we're going to get any retail exclusives this year? The only retail exclusive Star Wars set I recall from 2021 was the Armorer's Forge and I remember in summer 2020, we got an extra $100 set that we weren't expecting (the Galaxy's Edge IT-S Transport that was exclusive to Target). I just wonder if we could see something similar here. -

I don't really trust Fulcrum much anymore either, but since FalconFan is backing it, I feel safe about this rumor and the recent Blue Milk Luke one. Grain of salt though. -

I think this is an odd choice honestly, and that's coming from someone who grew up LOVING trains. The Hogwarts Express is iconic obviously but I find it kind of surprising that a mere train+station will be a bigger/more expensive set than something like Diagon Alley or even the microscale Hogwarts. Granted, I had no other ideas what other sets could fill this price. Another Icons set wouldn't work and I was also doubtful of this being another Hogwarts set, microscale or minifigure-scale. I guess maybe a giant Quidditch Match could have worked. I see a lot of people disappointed that this isn't Gringotts, but do we really want that to be such a gigantic and expensive set? (Especially since it would go with another giant, expensive set: Diagon Alley.) As someone who is a very casual Harry Potter fan and Lego collector, I definitely couldn't justify that. That set would definitely work better for a $150-200 slot and I can definitely see us getting that next year since there's not much else Lego can do at that price point now besides more Hogwarts expansions. This seems like it could be a really cool set, but again, I'm a casual Harry Potter fan and already have Diagon Alley on my long-term wishlist so I likely won't get this one. The 2018 Hogwarts Express is surprisingly still around and that'll do just as good of a job for me as a new, giant version would. (I've also never had a Lego train, so it'll also fill that void in my collection.) I'm sure this new set will come with cooler figures though, probably a bunch of exclusive ones too. I'm also definitely predicting some epilogue figures. This is probably Lego's one chance to do them, unless we get another CMF series eventually which I find doubtful at this point. -
Ah, well in my defense, the last few years have felt so long, my sense of time is super skewed lol.
-
If I remember correctly, the Ninjago reveals were very soon after the Harry Potter ones both last year and in 2020, so it could really be any day now. I’m guessing the King will be brick-built but we’ll see.

I was at the Lego Store recently with someone not well versed in all of the different Lego themes and even they were asking me what these Vidiyo sets are and why they’re clogging up the shelf. I was explaining the theme to them and seeing every one of the sets on sale just reminded me of that Angry Birds line that even Lego themselves was trying to get rid of a couple years ago. I just thought it was an amusing anecdote. I’m still wondering if I should count the Bandmates towards my goal of having every Lego CMF series though (excluding region exclusives like Team GB.)

A lot of people seem to be finding this series at Target in the US, though I didn’t find any when I went hunting earlier. This really is going to be like the Looney Tunes series last year where Lego was dragging out the reveal while people were already finding the series in stores. -

UCS Razor Crest was my wild card guess for the fall D2C this year, but yeah, I’ve seen nobody reliable even mention this yet. I’d love for it to be true though. -

Hmmm, it could just mean that customer service was lead to believe that the polybag isn’t going to be available elsewhere or they just don’t know that it’ll be released for May the 4th. Or maybe that particular region won’t be getting it? That or Fulcrum just missed again. I wouldn’t worry yet though. -

Nah, the pieces just coexist. Lego are still using it for Jawas. Now that some time has passed and I’ve watched some videos on these sets, I do have to say that I like the two Hogwarts sets less and the rest of the wave even more. The Thestral Carriage is the only I’ll probably end up picking up anytime soon (like I mentioned, I still have a couple sets from the last two years, plus the Hogwarts Express, to pick up before getting any of these other ones) but I do still really like this wave. I’m afraid that the giant D2C is going to be a Gringott’s though, because I’ll probably want that AND Diagon Alley. -
Wizarding World 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
The Stud replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m pretty sure I only ever comment on these Harry Potter threads whenever the summer waves are revealed lol. Like usual, these sets are fantastic and they also further prove my theory that even-numbered years have brought us the strongest waves in the new Harry Potter line (2018, 2020 and 2022). I changed my opinion on last year’s 20th Anniversary line a couple times but ended up feeling “meh” on most of them. These sets make up for that and, impressively, the Hogwarts sets look like they could work for either the 2018-2020 or 2021 Castles, or at least from my point of view. Going over each set individually from smallest to largest… -The Hogwarts Carriage and Thestrals continues the tradition of fantastic $20 sets in this line. (I think that I actually own all of them up to this point besides that one Fantastic Beasts Thestral Carriage from the first year.) The build and figures are great, though simple, as are the Thestrals. -The Horntail looks really good, far better than what we got in 2019, but I haven’t really been into these large creature sets for the theme. The detailed Harry figure is probably the coolest part of the set for me. I also think the set is a pretty good value for the $50 price with the size and piece count both taken into account. -Now the Sirius Rescue does not look like a really good value for the piece count or size with that that $50 price. This is a rare set where I don’t really care about the figures (I already have similar enough versions from the 2019 sets) but I really dig the build. I felt like the 2021 Hogwarts sets were over simplistic while this one has some great detailing, with those gold frogs and foliage. And like I mentioned earlier, if you ignore the sand green roofs, these 2022 sets both look like they could fit in with the 2018-2020 Castle sets that I enjoyed. -Dumbledore’s Office looks good. Very interesting that the 2018 Great Hall is clearly in the background on the box art. The exterior of this set looks really good, the interior a little less so. I love how they did the bookshelves though. I also think it was an interesting approach to make this a corner building for Hogwarts. Cool figures as well. -The Shrieking Shack looks fantastic and the Whomping Willow here does the 2018 one to shame. The Lupin transformation feature is also very well done. Really solid set, just not super high on my list. -The Ministry of Magic looks a lot more interesting than I expected. I think they took an intriguing approach with the structure that initially made me think it was a lot smaller than it really was. I love how the office spaces and telephone booth look as well. Amazing minifigure selection too. -12 Grimmauld Place looks amazing. I wasn’t expecting to like the set so much but it’s honestly one of the best Harry Potter sets so far in my opinion. The interior and exterior looks fantastic, the play features are fantastic and oh my god, that is an amazing minifigure selection. I love it when Lego does buildings that look like they could fit in with the Modular Buildings and this set certainly fits the bill. Overall, this is a fantastic line of sets. I really think Lego Harry Potter is a continuation of the quality sets that we got with The Lego Movies and all the awesome licensed minifigures remind me of The Lego Batman Movie in particular. My only problem is that some of the sets feel a little overpriced but I guess that’s to be expected with most Licensed sets. There’s a couple problems I have here though; for starters, I have zero room to have a big Harry Potter display! I’m also really behind on sets from the last few years. I still need to get the Series 2 CMFs, Hogwarts Express, Astonomy Tower, Hogsmeade and The Burrow, not to mention Diagon Alley though I’m not too worried about that one as it’ll likely stick around for a while. I get excited for a lot of these Harry Potter summer waves but know that it’ll take a while for me to get caught up, especially since Harry Potter isn’t really one of my main themes. Still, I’m really impressed with this line-up all the same. -
Do we know for sure that Legacy isn’t continuing? I know there wasn’t any sets this year due to EVO but it’d be a bit of a bummer if we didn’t get more sets for the later seasons. I thought it was strange that Zane was the only one to get a Deepstone Legacy suit too. I for one would have loved some Legacy Skybound sets, as well as more of those 2011-inspired dragons.

Disney Properties 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
The Stud replied to Soupperson1's topic in LEGO Licensed
I thought Disney Series 3 and Harry Potter Series 3 were safe bets for this year and I was very confident that that's what would happen for the longest time. Neither are happening this year though, and I have a gut feeling that we might not get a Harry Potter Series 3 in general. I can definitely see us getting another Disney Series next year though. With us getting Series 23 this year to commemorate the 90th Anniversary of Lego, I could see Lego just doing three licensed series next year so that they can release Series 24 in 2024 to bring back the year/series number pattern they'd been doing for a while. I also think a Marvel Series 2 is a safe bet with how well the first series sold; Lego would just need to space out the two series so that there's not two Disney related ones in a row. The Disney Castle will likely be on its way out this December after a very solid six year run, so we'll be due for another Parks D2C especially since the Train has already retired even before the Castle. If Lego puts out another set next year, then a CMF series will likely coincide with it.
