I called my local store yesterday about whether they had the Q3 figures, including the green queen. They said only the two stores with printing stations had them, one of which is a Legoland Discovery Center about ten minutes from me. I tried that today, and there was very little. A couple of the horse riding torsos and a few more of the helmet/hair combos. Also a couple of the pink beanie with blonde hair. But no green queens or LEGO store employee torsos. I asked and they said they hadn't had any of the green queens in for a few weeks, so clearly a small batch delivered and it didn't last long. There were loads of the Q2 figures though. No sign of any of the new ones from this week, although the Barcelona store does seem to put them out first/early.

[BRICKLINK] 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga
RichardGoring replied to Retrocity's topic in LEGO Pirates
I think we can all agree () that 6270 Forbidden Island is the best pirate set and will never be surpassed. But I do like the variation and detail that come with some of these modern sets, and having a few more of them to create a scene is a nice option. Ideally, LEGO would do a few more official ones to accompany Barracuda Bay and Eldorado Fortress. But in their absence, I'm pleased with a couple of BDP sets. It would be really nice if LEGO coordinated with these sets and made a few BAM figures that could pair with them, but that's very wishful thinking. -
[BRICKLINK] 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga
RichardGoring replied to Retrocity's topic in LEGO Pirates
Not yet, but one of the fan designers said that after the first round, or maybe the last version of the program, Bricklink decided to give some more guidance and support on the models. Still not heavily influenced by LEGO/Bricklink, but to try and avoid some of the issues that the early BDP sets had. Notably the fishing boat, which looked great, but had real build process issues. So it's unlikely to change dramatically in the end. -
Also want to know this! Can't decide if it's black or dark blue. Looks like an odd mix of the two! To be honest, I'd love a dark blue classic space figure, but the lack of airtanks and helmet would drive me mad! That's a shame! I was thinking of heading out this weekend to try and find them. ETA: Oh, just seen the other images and the torso looks like dark blue.

[MOD] Exotic Parrot 31136: POPSY EDITION
RichardGoring replied to Marooned Marin's topic in Pirate MOCs
Brilliant! I bought both the original and the newer pink variant because I love them together. But I did wonder why they didn't do a red one like this. Might have to add a third to the collection. -
Super Mario 2025 and onwards - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Licensed
I bought the Bowser car thinking of Mario Kart. But now that I see them, I don't feel inspired to get any of them. The karts are nice, and definitely benefit from the larger scale. For me though, the joy of Mario Kart is in the amazing settings, but so much the karts. These sets feel a little underwhelming. And are they better the play with than purpose built karts? Stability feels like it might be an issue. I look forward to some reviews to see a bit more of them, and a potential second wave. Are the blank karts supposed to accommodate the digifigs? -
[BRICKLINK] 910053 The Thieves of Tortuga

I really like it and hope the build holds up well. It's going to be pricey, but it's also a decent size. It will certainly help to create a nice scene between Eldorado Fortress and Barracuda Bay. -

Any of those settings would be perfect for a diorama display. More expensive than a battlepack or a playset, but more accessible than the mega sets released so far. -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
The leak was from a consumer survey that had a range of sets - some final, some preliminary, some prototypes - to see how people would respond to them and the potential price ranges. It just so happened that an AFOL (on this forum, JeanGreyForver) was one of the survey participants. It didn't sound like there was an NDA signed by those taking the survey, so it was possible to share (at least some of) the images. In the end, I don't think it was JeanGreyForever who shared the actual images, but was the first to reveal the contents. It was a huge fluke, and unlikely to happen again as you probably won't get a serious AFOL taking the survey, and LEGO/the surveying company will have learnt their lesson about contracts. Every year, LEGO does fan media days in which upcoming sets are revealed and it's an opportunity to do lots of interviews with designers, which they can use through the coming year as sets are revealed. The Recognised Fan Media are all generally very good at keeping secrets and holding to embargos, so while they may know about a sets existence and even have footage of it, they all appear to be professional and principled, and so it's really unlikely that there will be a leak. I think last year, there was one YouTuber who filmed something at the fan media days where they had two sets on display next to each other, but they released months apart. He had to crop out all the instances of the unrevealed set from his video, but missed a couple of frames, where you could see half of Rocket from Guardians of the Galaxy. That got him a six month ban (thereabouts) from being part of the program, which felt very unfair. I don't know if it was later revoked. But it shows that it's taken seriously by both LEGO and the fan media. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Well, this was a blast of excitement! Tons of certain parts on PAB… : r/lego (reddit.com) -
The Series 5 finalists have been announced, and to me, they are very strong contenders. There were a lot of excellent submissions in this round, so I feel bad for the rejected designs, but I'm thrilled with the selection available. Nice to have the small popcorn wagon, although I think we discussed how the base adds a lot to the part count. Still likely to be $1200-$1300 for a complete series. Good job it's over a year away! I think this is the strongest collection so far, with all five being ones I'd love to get. Colour swap the roof and ground of the antique shop, and it's a great addition to the winter village too!

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I bought a couple of the Harry Potter Ministry of Magic sets on heavy discount last year to try and do exactly that. An official modular with the colour would be great. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Using more of the colour palette would be great. I recently built the Bricklink MOC Pop-up Store Glass Studio modular by @MingBrick which uses aqua and it looks fabulous. It's also a wonderful build. I really like the colour blocking in this and I definitely want to do something else with aqua and a few other colours too. Considering lavender at the moment. -
I really do like the BTAS Batmobile, but $60 is so overpriced, so I was expecting a heavy discount on it. However, it's currently backordered on the LEGO website, so LEGO clearly knows how to price things to sell appropriately better than I do! Same for the X-Jet, which I've still not seen on sale (although there have been reports of it being discounted in a few Wal Mart clearances, but not extensively). Sigh. And I'm still really disappointed by the wheel arches, which stick out to me so much, compared to the beautifully curved ones, tight to the wheels, in the show.

Disney Properties 2024 - Rumors & Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
The set looks great, but there are some clear compromises from the original idea. In some areas it's far more polished, but I really loved the crookedness of the original house, although I must admit, I've never seen the movie, so don't know which is more accurate. I suspect this is the perfect catalyst to watch it later in the year though. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I do really like that one. I wonder if they'd consider a round tower too? Might be very limited for space and use cases though. But could be really impressive. -
Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
I feel like they could have some fun with a mail sorting function or true play feature in a post office that the original was lacking. Also, the original is so old now, that a great many current collectors don't have it, and it's the kind of thing that will be popular. At this piece count, I wonder if it will be a post office combined with a workshop? That would feel nice. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Agreed. Although there are lots of great ones on there already, which is fabulous. What I really like about the BDP program is that it's using the current parts palette, so it's easy to get the parts you need. Some of the Rebrickable MOCs use parts that can be really expensive which adds a niggle to the process that I personally get frustrated by. No. There is surely no basis for them to sue a company that provides original designs. It would also be massively, massively counterproductive against a large core of LEGO's customer base. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I don't think they're suggesting that others can't make modulars. More than they don't want the BDP to be overrun by modulars, setting everyone up for disappointment when they don't select them, as it will compete with an internal line and/or cause too much confusion with official LEGO products that are held to a different standard. -
This is fabulous! I love the shaping and textures you've achieved. Really terrific model.

Agreed. It's probably better in general. I follow it, so it doesn't bother me, but it makes more sense when trying to find it. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
RichardGoring replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It's definitely a good starting point, but, as it says, do adapt it. The only thing you really need in place are the connection points. The A-frame cabin and Treehouse could absolutely be on a MILS plate or baseplate, but I don't know if I'd want to do them on a 32x32 in a modular street. That feels like it spoils the sense of space around them. But a 48x32 or even 48x48 could look amazing. I love the Home Alone house, but also wouldn't put it into a modular street because it's a different scale and dwarfs everything else in the modular line, which looks so odd. Same with The Simpsons house. Which is sort of a shame, but inevitable, given that they have to reflect specific locations and can't be an impression of them in the same way that a standard modular building is. I wonder if we'll get any modulars in the Bricklink Designer Program. There were plenty (of good ones) in series 5. Only three more weeks to wait to find out. -
Latest news about Lego animal moulds
RichardGoring replied to Roebuck's topic in Special LEGO Themes
My Pick a Brick order arrived last week, full of butterflies to add to a spring themed bonsai tree, but I've not had chance to build it, and now I'm going away. It will have to wait. Sigh. I've checked Bricklink, but just to sanity check, they've never released a butterfly in pink, have they?- 5,909 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
RichardGoring replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
If they're doing F1 driver CMFs, is that one per team and two different heads? Two sets of hair? Two helmet designs? It doesn't appeal to me, to be honest. And I like F1. But the driver overalls never seem to be that interesting, and having figures of all the drivers isn't compelling to me. I hope they do a few good car models, but for something quite specific (unlike space, which is very broad), it feels like a waste of a good few set slots. Oh well, I need to cut down on what I buy, so limiting the options is better! -
21348 Lego Ideas Dungeons & Dragons and D&D CMF
RichardGoring replied to Black Falcon's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Agreed. Thought it would be good to share because of the single set option. I ordered one set and then will look for a couple of the duplicates I want when they're out in stores. I don't think I want a huge number, as good as they are.- 686 replies
